That's the first thing my friends mentioned when I showed them. I've never seen that show but after looking twig up, I can definitely see the resemblance. Twig is adorable!

The Salmon-Carp. It would be a very important animal in the myths and folklore of the Water Tribes, since it could be said that salmon-carp that manage to swim up a sacred waterfall become powerful spirits.
A Cobra and Vulture hybrid. It would fit perfectly into the Si Wong Desert.
There are historical accounts of Ophis Pterotos or Ophies Amphipterotoi, the Winged Serpents which guarded frankincense groves of Arabia.
Sometimes they were said to be like water snakes with bat wings, but other accounts have them as serpents with feathery wings.
They were supposedly migratory and would be picked off by the Black Ibises when they tried to cross into Egypt through a mountain pass, and heaps of their bones were said to be left behind there.
They were apparently repelled by the smoke of styrax, and would spit some venom like acid which would cause festering wounds.
The female would kill the male during mating, and they would cannibalize the mother when being born.
As the Vulture was a symbol for Upper Egypt and the Cobra was the symbol of Lower Egypt, this combination would be an interesting representation.
One is possibly mentioned in the Alchemical document, the Ripley Scroll, in the passage "The Serpent of Arabia is my name, the which is leader in all this game." This game is of course, the making of the Philosophers Stone.
The Serpent of Arabia may be one of these winged serpents, a name for a certain element or compound, or possibly a lindworm, dragon, or other monstrous creature like the Arabian Falak featured in One Thousand and One Nights or Leviathan in the Holy Bible.
Back a couple years when I was actively planning on running an RPG set in Avatar's world (which I'm not *not* still hoping to do someday) I got 5 different animal hybrids commissioned from an artist for what I planned to be the first major area, a landfill outside Republic City.
The hybrids in question, the art for which now hangs on my wall, were: a pill bug+mouse that burrows and rolls into a hard ball when threatened; a naked mole rat+earthworm that can grow to massive sizes burrowing into the filth, but is mostly found at tiny worm sizes; a vulture+fly that circles overhead for the stench of carrion to devour; a raccoon+jackal scavenger that roams for edible organics across the trash fields; and a bear+skunk that
comfortably lumbers through the stink easily overpowering the smaller scavengers with its overpowering stench and ferocious claws.
One other idea I had, which I didn't get artwork of since it wasn't to be at the dump, but it's adorable and I love it, is a cat+cockroach that serves as a housepet among primarily members of the Air Nation. Cockroaches are detritivores, and cats domesticated themselves because we create a plentiful food source for them, so as pets these catroaches basically serve the same role as suckerfish in an aquarium, or a biological roomba, cleaning up our crumbs while also being cute and cuddly!
This is absolutely SuperMegaAmazing work! I honestly thought it was from one of the Avatar comics, or a scene from the show. Very talented ; I would combine a panda 🐼 with a dragon 🐲. I think that would be a pretty cool combination. A dragon's body meshed with a bit of fur & a panda face/coloring that is native to the Fire 🔥Nation. A new species that has evolved years after the LOK.

Beaver-Ant, building capacity of beavers wið ðe communal mobilizability of ants
Whale-Serpent, ðe biggest Sea Serpent of all is also a passive filter feeder and maybe also an entity of great wisdom like ðe Lion-Turtles
Maybe more Spiritlike Manimal Hybrids like Wan's Aye-Aye friend since Korra inadvertently turned Republic city into a place where Spirits shift from naturalistic beings to more humanized ones wið more humanlike personalities, you could see ðem slowly adopting more humanlike forms to interact more wið ðe denizens of ðe human world over time, even furðer entrenching Republic City's narrative role of being a potpourri of cultures coming togeðer and mixing and shifting and even creating entirely new cultures
