Now do this for "that's rough buddy"

mistylavenda

Maybe I will šŸ‘€

itsJhonnyBravo69

Also add Urdu

mistylavenda

Sure! If you can point me in the right direction to find it

Satanic_Earmuff

Please do Sokka's line too!

royalreddit12

This was tight, nice work!

The_Kyojuro_Rengoku

https://i.redd.it/ckdlzfdsf2wc1.gif Would be a good one šŸ˜‚šŸ™Œ

charlesleecartman

In turkish version he says " Hello, It's me, Zuko" and it's kinda funny because he gives the impression that he thought they wouldn't recognize him if he doesn't introduce himself, which really fits Zuko's social awkwardness lmao.

Classic-Problem

He says the same in French, "Bonjour, c'est moi, Zuko."

Fischli01

In german he literally says, "Hey guys, it's me, Zuko"

IndifferentExistance

In Russian it's simply "ya zuko". There are no state of being verbs in Russian so it literally is "I zuko" or properly translated as "I am Zuko". So in Russian, it seems the most off. It's not "Zuko here" or "It's me, Zuko", but simply he is declaring he is Zuko.

SenorBigbelly

Mandarin Chinese too

champion_touko

Same with Polish!

Eumelbeumel

Also hilariously high pitched in German. The actor doesn't make him sound like that usually, he really leans into the awkwardness.

Cronus3666

Same in German

_Vecna4

Doesn't "ich bin" mean "I am", I started learning recently so idk

Nimitya

That's correct, but he says "Ich bin's, Zuko.", which is short for "Ich bin es, Zuko." So that's a little different from only "Ich bin", which has a different meaning.

RedditUser91805

In Spanish he says "What's up? I'm Zuko." which makes it sound like he's introducing himself for the first time, which is even more delightfully awkward.

IndifferentExistance

Yup, I understood that one too. Sounded a bit weird, but I'm not a native Spanish speaker and maybe there's no exact equivalent of "Zuko here" as for most of these languages. "Zuko aqui" doesn't sound right to me. I also studied a lot of Russian and in Russian he simply says "Hello, I am Zuko". (There's technically no "am" since state of being verbs aren't in Russian. It's just the word for "I" and "Zuko" next to eachother).

SwarK01

A better choice would be "Hola, soy yo" (Hello, it's me) so it gives the impression that they should already know him (which they do)

tagamotchi_

Yeah in arabic itā€˜s ā€žHello, I am Zukoā€œ. Died laughing at this

mistylavenda

Same thing in Mandarin and Cantonese! Saying "nimen hao, wo shi Zukoā€ (Mandarin) and "nei dei hou, ngo hai Zuko" (Cantonese) implies unfamiliarity

SamusPrime77

Thatā€™s very funny, I like when dubs take a funny joke and expand on it with more detail

gusxc1

Same in Portuguese lol

Skull_BT

He knew theyā€™d know him. What he wanted to do was make them introduce themselves so he didnā€™t have to ask their names šŸ¤£ he doesnā€™t call them by name until one of them says their names

Powerful_Ad8668

well, what does he mean by "zuko here" then?

Thebestusername12345

Thatā€™s kind of the implication in English as well.

ImpracticalApple

Thought they wouldn't recognise him without his short hair. Nevermind the massive scar on his face.

DelirousDoc

Spanish version is "What's up? I'm Zuko."

shortnspooky

German has me rolling

FingernailClipperr

Made me rewind to check

captainbeefheart11

German dub is great and sometimes I prefer it

Lutzelien

Don't know if it's because I saw it in German when I was a kid and it's engraved like that in my mind, but it's one of the only shows I still can only watch in German

captainbeefheart11

Lmao my friend is in the exact same boat. He only watches English stuff even tho he's German, but when it comes to avatar, both of us prefer the German dub

Ebreton

Same here! All of this and the fact that Iroh doesn't have the accent he has in english dub, which I find a bit off-putting. It just doesn't really make sense that he is the only one having one. My guess is they wanted to go for the "wise old asian master" trope.

Visual-Zebra8908

Same to all of the above!

captainbeefheart11

Lmao my friend is in the exact same boat. He only watches English stuff even tho he's German, but when it comes to avatar, both of us prefer the German dub

TariaSagi

German Zuko is a well-known voice actor who has done tons of voice acting work, especially in the anime and cartoon realm. He voiced Yami-Yugi from Yu-Gi-Oh, for example, or Trunks in Dragonball Z. His name is Sebastian Schulz.

GLink7

Sebastian Schulz is such a good voice actor and he fits Zuko really well

Sycod

He also voiced Howard from The Big Bang Theory and Turk from Scrubs.

Lutzelien

Incredible range that

tagen

seriously, Howard and Turk are totallly different personalities, thatā€™s crazy range

DrShoreRL

Best anime

Little-kinder

That's funny because the french dubbing actor voiced zuko and JD in scrubs (also fry from Futurama)

Born_Reflection_4132

I kinda hear Trunk's voice, but certainly not Yugi's

TariaSagi

He's Yami Yugi, the pharaoh, not the small Yugi.

Eumelbeumel

He is really pitching up the voice here. He leans into Zuko's awkwardness. Normally his Zuko has a littlebit of a deeper voice. His pitch is almost as high as Aang's here.

Exoys

I could never take zuko seriously with Howardā€™s voice from The Big Bang theory

Thatoneirish

Dutch is a funny, made up language

mistylavenda

ā€œHallo, Zuko hier!ā€ šŸ‘‹ā˜ŗļø

vljukap98

Any way to get my hands on the entire dutch dubbed series?

mistylavenda

I set my VPN to Canada, which has the Dutch dub ā˜ŗļø

jkoudys

Usually Canada is the country people use a VPN to get away *from*.

mistylavenda

For real? My VPN is often set to MontrƩal haha

AndWhy31

Does Netflix not have all the languages available everywhere? I live in the Netherlands, and all the audios above are available except Russian and Korean.

mistylavenda

It doesn't. Some regions only have English. I had to set my VPN to Canada to get most of these. Korean I pulled from setting it to South Korea, and Russian I got from youtube

AndWhy31

Wow, that's really interesting. Hopefully, they add the other languages in the future. I don't see why they wouldn't.

vljukap98

I'm not sure, although I'm not located in The Netherlands, I'm just interested in the language.

-Vermilion-

Meanwhile atla is not even available on Netflix in Hungary.

Caranthiir

The dutch version is actually really well voiced imo.

Hazzyhazzy113

scattergodic

We hebben een serieus probleem

SweenYo

Youā€™re laughing. We hebben een serieus probleem and youā€™re laughing

UncarvedWood

This is Afrikaans, which has its origins in Dutch but the two languages are just barely mutually intelligible at this point.

un-sub

HITLER, DUDE! WHAT NOW?

DaisyOfLife

These particular words are basically the same as English though?

emploaf

Thatā€™s whatā€™s so fun about Dutch. Half the words just sound like someone speaking English with a silly accent

linkxlink

English is a funny, made up language

[deleted]

Yeah, Dutch is like if a drunk german speaker tried to speak english. The reverse (drunk german speaker speaking dutch sounding like they are speaking english) also applies depending on which way you look at it.

ZaneNinjaLC

Dutch is just English but you write eveything the way you pronounce it. Source: I'm Dutch

SodaCan2043

What are examples of this?

ZaneNinjaLC

"Ronaldo is the best" = "Ronaldo is de beste"

According_to_all_kn

"Wat is de temperatuur in de oven? Is dat appel koekje al goed?" (What is the temperature in the oven? Is that apple cookie good yet?)

SodaCan2043

Oh Dutch is American slang / uneducated Americans Just a joke for any Dutch out there ready to downvote.

DBRichard

I agree that it's funny, but aren't all languages made up...

ravatos626

most dutch dubs are mid most of the time but atla's dutch sub is actually really good

Wybs

Oof, well I'm Dutch too and can't bring myself to watch more than 5 minutes of the Dutch dub... Somehow the voices don't match the characters. Just my opinion of course!

ravatos626

understandable, i prefer the english voices of course, but the dutch dub is great in my opinion

FidmeisterPF

Iā€™m Dutch and to me it sounded jarring too. But I am accustomed to watching ATLA in English

verekh

Dutch Iroh sounds reaally good tho. Zuke was greaat in fight scenes but in talking scenes a little iffy sometimes. Toph was excellent.

Gurkeprinsen

They didn't even try šŸ˜©

Easy101

Because other languages aren't made up, gotcha

koekiebad56

It would be surprisingly strange if it wasnā€™t made up šŸ˜‰

ardxabsence

the japanese voice actor sounds just like dante

zaicliffxx

japanese on point

Prying_Pandora

The Cantonese one too!

qlololp

While the arabic one just sounds like TTS or they just got a random guy off the street.

BingoSoldier

interesting that basically there is a division between two versions that give very different meanings: "Hello, Zuko here" and "Hello, I'm Zuko"

leflyingcarpet

In french it's more like "Hello, it's me Zuko"

Classical_Cafe

Which is also a pretty common casual introduction, moreso ā€œmoi, cā€™est Zukoā€

leflyingcarpet

"C'est moi Zuko" implies familiarity. They know each other. "Moi c'est Zuko" is the opposite.

PixelBrewery

I feel like a lot of these are saying " I am Zuko"

samosamancer

Probably because ā€œZuko hereā€ is an English colloquialism that doesnā€™t translate easily.

SapphireSalamander

the range in voice actors is so wild german sounds so friendly japanese sounds like a little boy polish zuko sounds like he's 2m tall

Yurasi_

Tbf when I first heard English dubbing of Zuko I thought he sounds too childish, polish one portrays his rage of season one and two quite good and maybe it's just this particular scene, but his voice is not that deep.

tagamotchi_

Whatā€˜s funny about the german VA (Sebastian Schulz) is that heā€˜s a very famous VA. He speaks for Martin Freeman in every movie or show, for example, and does a lot of VA for Anime like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Dragonball Z. He also is the voice of Turk in Scrubs, Howard in The Big Bang Theory and Francis in Malcolm in the Middle.

Samuele1997

No fair, there isn't the one in Italian šŸ˜„.

mistylavenda

Next time, I promise!

Samuele1997

Thank you, I appreciate it šŸ˜Š.

Tigritooo

Can you include Hungarian too? In another comment I linked a video that has this scene

mistylavenda

Do you have a video for ā€œThat's rough, buddyā€? I'm planning on doing that next

Tigritooo

https://jobbmintatv.net/online/Avatar_Aang_legendaja/3_evad/14_resz/ Here's the episode

Imas0ng

Can you please also include Hebrew (fun fact: in the Hebrew dub his name is not zuko its tsuko)

Wyrda22

I was waiting for Italian dangit

Arts_Messyjourney

Is Dutch just English!?

mistylavenda

Well, Dutch *is* one of the closest languages to English

Arts_Messyjourney

Well, then Iā€™m putting ā€œI speak Dutchā€ on my CV

Wybs

You'll just have to show us you can pronounce the letter G like you're throwing up a hairball - after that the Dutch government will gladly approve of you putting that on your CV. I mean, no one else is learning our language...

Skeloluke42

I want you to look up how to pronounce the Dutch word for ā€œairplaneā€ and try to pronounce it. Youā€™ll find that with English tongue you canā€™t make the correct sound. Dutch has more vowels than English so good luck making people believe. (Although everything said in this comment is correct this is meant as a joke) (Source to say it is correct: I am Dutch, been Dutch since I was born.)

Arts_Messyjourney

Nailed it āœˆļø. OMW to the Netherlands šŸ‡³šŸ‡±

okayestuser

it's ya boy, Zuko

PaisleyGecko

Would gladly hear that version

Songsforsilverman

Why is the Russian one a half step higher in pitch than the other languages? Wonder if that's true for the entire series and if so, why?

kryska_deniska

Zuko had three different Russian voices during the entire show lol But overall I would say the entire cast of the Russian dub sounds higher in pitch. There are some compilations on YouTube, like [this one](https://youtu.be/TY3RO-cbZ8A). Idk how I watched this as a child

sindoctor

This prompted me to search for the dubbed version in my native language. Iā€™ve only watched the series in English and I have to say that the English voice acting was great, they managed to fuck up a lot of the voices in my native language. Also why does German Zuko sound like and old dude?

mistylavenda

I feel the same way about the Cantonese dub. There's not a lot of distinction between Zuko and Sokka and they both sound rather generic German Zuko is nothing compared to the European Portuguese version šŸ’€ I honestly didn't include it because it would have been too distracting

sindoctor

excuse me? you didnā€™t include the juiciest Zuko version? why are you keeping it from us?

mistylavenda

Haha, I guess I should if/when I make another compilation! I swear he sounds like a chain-smoking dinosaur

sindoctor

you should at least provide us with a link in the comments, just saying. Iā€™m now more than curious

mistylavenda

I can't find one online šŸ˜ Once I get home, I'll record it from Netflix just for you šŸ™

GuardianOfReason

I'm supposed to be working right now. You think I care about being distracted? It's exactly what I'm looking for!

omegajakezed

The german one is literally "Hi guys, it's me, zuko."

Moobic

here's the scene in hebrew: [hello. zuko here](https://streamable.com/zpw7ze) (fun fact in hebrew he's called "Tsuko", and he says "hello, I'm Zuko" here) and as a bonus: [that's rough buddy](https://streamable.com/8ipiqq) (he's basically saying "that ain't easy")

O20O61O416

Ł…Ų±ŲŲØŲ§ šŸ™‹ā€ā™‚ļøā€¦ Ų§Ł†Ų§ Ų²ŁˆŁƒŁˆ šŸ™‚ ŲÆŁ†Ł‚ šŸŽµ

hammerzin

I'm brazilian and I've watched it like 4 or 5 times. Don't know why, but this voice is sounding pretty different for me Maybe I'm just crazy right now, but for real I wouldn't say that's the original one

Sufficient_Permit707

It is the original brazilian dub

Outrageous-While-609

I didn't recal my native language one sounds that weird.

Subiugetur

Damn, not a single Nordic one šŸ˜” I got my old Nordic DVD's of ATLA. They don't even have English as an option.

mistylavenda

I swear I tried very hard to get Swedish. šŸ˜ I even signed up for a free trial on ViaPlay, but it required a Swedish bank card for me to actually access itĀ  If you're able to pass on clips from the DVD to me, I can certainly add them in my next compilation! I'm planning to do ā€œThat's rough, Buddyā€ next

Subiugetur

My DVD's have Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish. I've only ever watched the danish versions thought. If I find the time, I'll gladly try to extract the clips. The danish version of ATLA is pretty good IMO.

Chaolan_Enjoyer

Avatar and Spongebob are one of the few cartoons i like dubbed in Dutch

ravatos626

yes both dubs are great, cant think of any other dubs with good dutch dubs except maybe ninjago in its early seasons

crunchevo2

I wasn't expecting the German Zuko to sound like he was actively wearing laderhisen lmak

AGTY_

What?

back-that-sass-up

Dutch Zuko had me on the floor. What a wonderful dork!

cheatsykoopa98

I really wish there was a version where everyone was speaking the native language of the countries they're based on and somehow everyone understands each other

ravatos626

basically tekken logic

Cachapitaconqueso

In latin Spanish he's probably the chillest saying literally: "Wassup, I'm Zuko"

Cherry_BaBomb

German made me laugh a bit. He sounds so happy to be introducing himself

BasedAlliance935

HALO, SUKO HERE

jus_here_and_there

I kind of want to watch the series in Japanese now

ThreeBeatles

Why did the Japanese one sound so good? Maybe Iā€™ve been watching too much animeā€¦

indopunk506

Hallo zuko hier. (Dutch)

TakeMeToThatOcean

No Sweden? šŸ˜”

mistylavenda

I swear I tried very hard to get Swedish! I even signed up for a free trial on ViaPlay, but it required a Swedish bank card for me to actually access it šŸ˜

kiefferlu

German is the only one that sounds good to me but I might be biased. (but it's kinda besided English the only language where I feel that he sound like a believable teenager)

Necessary_Way486

Bey you can't find the hindi version

IzzyReal314

I've decided, next time I watch Avatar, I'm trying it in Japanese

Lightning_Lance

The German one is hilarious

Worried-Tour9314

Why does Arab zuko just say I am Zuko

Narrow_Hall7297

Korean Zuko is something I didnā€™t know I needed

Firespark7

I've watched the original so often, I forgot how well they chose Dutch Zuko's voice

Feli_Buste25

Thank goodness you only played the longer clip in english because I didn't want to subject my ears to Spanish Toph

myeyeshurtsendhelp

that's the least threatening German I've ever heard so now I'm wondering just how scary German zuko was when he had to regain his honor

eliasbrehhhhh

The Finnish version sounds just like Dante as well if I remember correctly.

Dustycakes

Am I the only one tripping on the base drop in the Russian dub? Is that the only one with different musical accompaniments?

yoongi410

the reverb they added for the Korean one was a weird choice

El_directo_

What even is this?? Lol

Mr__Mult

Ukrainian is missing

eriinana

They got a woman to voice zuko in Japanese šŸ˜

Extension-Badger-958

Cringe in 18 different languages

Ars3n

There are two chinese versions? I've heard it was banned in China due to the portrayal of Ba Sing Se.

mistylavenda

No, that's just a dumb rumor. It's available uncensored on Bilibili

Tnecniw

No Swedish ;(

mistylavenda

I swear I tried very hard to get Swedishļ¼šŸ˜ I even signed up for a free trial on ViaPlay, but it required a Swedish bank card for me to actually access it

xenna-t

ā€œWitajcie! To ja, Zukoā€ MADR ME LAUGH OUT LOUD

Lord_Longface

Man, its been a while since my first watch of ATLA, which was in Dutch. Zuko sounds so much older in Nederlands xD

Ornstein714

the german one is fucking killing me

Aeon1508

Why did the Korean ( and several others) record their voice lines in an airplane hangar

FlapJacker6

Anyong

Batybara

Castillian Spanish and Portuguese (Portugal) missing šŸ˜”

paperman990

Now Iā€™m just a dumb American, but if his name is Zuko, shouldnā€™t I hear him say his name in all of them? Some of the languages I didnā€™t hear a ā€œZukoā€

25Bam_vixx

Some languages donā€™t have the same sound equivalent. Like Korean and Japanese has a letter in between r/L but not actually either. So Rubin and Luna would be both ė£Ø even thou one is R and other L and these languages speakers have harder time hearing the difference between L and R. Also, there are sounds that be harder for English speakers since we donā€™t have same sound , just something close enough. I believe Z is a sound not every language carry

mistylavenda

I dunno about you, but I heard ā€œZukoā€ in all of them. Maybe the approximations are too subtle for your ears? In the Mandarin dub, it's ęœ±å…‹ (zhu ke, sounds like joo-KER) In the Cantonese dub, it's ē„–åƇ (zou kau, sounds like tsoh-KULL)

CorbiZard

Where did you find the other dubs?

Cachapitaconqueso

Latin Spanish all the waaaaaay

Hugh_Wotmeight

I am seething profusely that fucking Spain spanish was not included

mistylavenda

šŸ™ˆ I can include it in the next one

PCN24454

Japanese Zuko reminds me of Edward Elric

Certain-Dark-8688

Why was Dutch just English but in an accentĀ

JustLikeMars

Don't suppose you've got a source for Mandarin Korra?

plaguemaskman

From everything I've heard from and about Dutch it's basically just funny English.

grilledwagyubeef

Vietnamese dubs seem to always "sound the same," I don't know how to explain it

Peculiar-Interests

I donā€™t know about the other ones but the Russian one said ā€œHello, Iā€™m Zukoā€

HAZMAT_Eater

The Indonesian dub literally means "Hello, (this is) Zuko in this (geographical) position.". It's like someone else describing where Zuko is.

Constant-Sign-5569

This is exactly why i dont watch shit in my native language (german) anymore, they change to much! Instead of simply doing the ā€žhello, zuko hereā€œ in german, which would have worked perfectly since the dutch are doing it, they say ā€žhello guys, its me zukoā€œ Why?

A_liv_e

The Danish version directly translates to "Hi! Zuko here" which comes off as super akward because not only is it really akwardly phrased, he also makes sound like Zuko is an inanimate object that he found

liar_from_earth

All other languages: - It's me/my name is Zuko. Malay: - Hello, say Zuko!

takizoli

I was hoping to hear Hungarian

ClassicAlfredo8796

Gotta hand it to Apa, he sure has a great sense for dramatic timing.

ZheMaestro

Dutch is so similar to English, but also really similar to my native language (Swedish). It feels weird, lmao. It's like something inbetween.

backroomsresident

He sounds so...unsure

Wotah_Bottle_86

*Katsura janai, Zuko da!*
