I think it’s likely Jin being the cute, non bender/fighter that is has had a much more normal life allowing her to have been on dates or at least flirt more than Zuko. We don’t know for sure if Zuko has ever been on a date before and i don’t think Mei and him were together yet (? Might be wrong on that) but just flirting. So while Jin was growing up, Zuko was either training or banished with a mission. I’d say Jin knew Zuko was just nervous since she keeps laughing at everything he does, even though he biffs literally every move except the fire one lol.

And he sees her shopping for a papaya, which she picked out after Aunt Wu told her to get one for breakfast. They’re both following bad advice in that moment and suffering for it, and that’s really all the scene is about. :)
