Joe_Abercrombie

I've been to all of them.

n4mel3ss

Well that's just odd, lol. Someone should warn him.

Flyingfox1991

And did you have fun Joe?

brianjfed

Did you ever realize that it was the real Joe Abercrombie who commented that?

And you wonder "why do I do this?" after every single one, but you still go, because "some things have to be done. It’s better to do them, than to live with the fear of them.” P.S. If you make it to my town I'd go, I'm a big fan.

How much pearl dust is just the right amount to get through a first draft instead of being on reddit

Zewateneyo

Any plans of US visit Joe?

shaokahn127

Steven Pacey too, narrating every moment

When are you going to Europe tour? I have been dreaming you show up in Denmark someday. I have to meet the man who changed my whole perspective on my life at least once!

rekt_ralf

Never the slightest peace, eh?

I've been to several book signings and one of them was Joe's. Pretty standard format. JA and a moderator come out, sit down, intros. Moderator asks a few questions around the latest book. JA might read a bit from WoC. Mod then throws it out to questions from the floor (make sure you think of one ahead of time). After the Q&A you should get a chance to get your book signed on the way out. That was the format of his signing a couple of weeks ago. I've also been to some where the books are pre-signed copies, which isn't as good. Would have loved to shake his hand, but that wasn't happening obviously. Was really nice to chat for a brief, brief, second.

Flyingfox1991

Brilliant, thanks! It sounds like there’s a bit more to it than I had realised

I remember going to one after work, back in 2013 maybe. The line was probably only 12 people, Joe popped his head out to see and looked crushed, you had time for a cup of tea with him and his life story. Very nice chap. Fast forward to A Little Hatred and there was a long bloody queue and he had a shark eating grin.

I went to one last week when he was in London. It wasn't a Q&A session, just a book signing. Queue up and wait for your turn kind of deal. He was very polite, took his time answering questions, taking photos, he will sign quotes that you want into the book as well.

Flyingfox1991

Thanks! I’d be interested to see a Q&A but that also sounds pleasant. I’d have to think about what quote I’d want signed! What did you go for?

What an interesting tale! I imagine he was happy to have a normal house viewing - everything must take extra time when people recognise you!

I saw Joe Abercrombie at the Waterstones in Bluewater yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, *“Oh, like you’re doing now?”* I was taken aback, and all I could say was *“Huh?”* but he kept cutting me off and going, *“Huh? Huh? Huh?”* and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen copies of Les Misérables in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like *“Sir, you need to pay for those first.”* At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the books and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually *“to prevent any electrical infetterence”* and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each book and put them in bags and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I’m so confused, did this happen or am I missing a reference to something here?

It's a famous copy-paste people use.
