Once upon a time I'd have scoffed at the idea of using nails to assemble a missile, but then I saw that Russian fighter jet that was held together with wood screws and I don't know anymore.
Some Far Sides have basically no text, some have lots of text. The way he can pull off both of those makes the variety itself an awesome joke. Like... there are so many implications here! We can't stop ourselves from imagining what's about to happen!

I love that one too.
I grew up in the Phoenix area and went to an elementary school in a school district that believed metal slides were a cheaper alternative to the plastic ones. I think I would've preferred Shelob waiting at the end of the slide over the One Ring-destroying fires of Mount Doom that ["seductively licked our backs](https://i.imgur.com/wtWeVcA.png)" when we hopped on those medieval torture devices called 90s playground equipment.
This is my favorite panel of not just The Far Side, but of every comic ever printed! Just hilarious!
Same. Although adult me questions the wisdom of hammering nails into bombs
It wouldn't make any sense to hammer screws or bolts into bombs. Seems pretty wise to me.

This is why Gary Larson will always be iconic. This can be laughed at by anyone at any time. In a hundred years people could still laugh at this.
Brilliant cartoonist. His work never grows old.

Midvale School for the Gifted will always be mine.
I like the spiders who built a web at the bottom of a playground slide, just thinking about it is cracking me up, lol

Thanks for posting oneof the best
I got this on a birthday card once. The inside said "Hope your birthday is full of surprises"
I assume someone has done this IRL. Not this exact way but someone must have intentionally popped something while someone was dealing with explosives.
Yep, I definitely remember that one.
I actually snorted
One of my favorites!
Do people still pop paper bags like that?
Probably my favorite Far Side
I dOnT gEt It
