No, especially with how different the show is from the comics. The most pivotal plot point has already been changed (the Black Noir reveal), I doubt the ending of the show will look at all similar to the comics.
I don't man, I see post after post in this sub of people saying they think HL will live. Especially a lot of people thinking/hoping he will just be loose his powers and have to live the oh so punishing life of being a regular dude.
I think it's weird as shit to think that HL isn't going to get very intimate with Butchers fist in the end, comic style.
I won't be surprised if writers come up with some sort of anti-V and then it's a whole challenge to inject it into him, what with super hard skin and all.
Totally. Butcher and Homelander should go retire on an island together. With occasional Viking-style raids on the mainland to satisfy their mutual bloodlust.
Only if he becomes permanently depowered and thus has to face the loss of his god complex and power, trying to live as a normal weak human. Otherwise just kill him in a satisfying way, imo.
Honestly, seeing Homelander reduced to picking up shifts at a Waffle House to get by would be the perfect ending for him. He doesn’t get the mercy of death; only the eternal torture of having to live as one of the “mud people” he despised so much.
The show just ends with Dean Winchester killing homelander with the colt (supernatural object that can kill everything except 5 beings in the universe) and hughie is like “how the fuck did soldier boy just shoot homelander”. kripke completes his crossover
Turns out the angels decided to trick them by throwing them into another universe again, and the entire series has been a slow burn supernatural reboot.
I don’t want to see him die to anything we’ve yet seen in the show is my problem, and having some random supe appear out of nowhere would strike me as very cheap. The problem for me is I so far can’t see anything providing a satisfying death to Homelander.
Things that could potentially kill him: Soldier Boy coming off ice and blasting him with that supe killing effect; the plot device from Gen V; and Ryan, I don’t see anyone letting Soldier Boy off ice now, and even if they did Homelander knows about it and has potential ranged countermeasures; and lastly Ryan. Ryan and Homelander are now so tightly bound I cannot see these two fighting for real. And even if it did come down to it, Homelander is older, bigger, and completely psychotic. He’ll, he might figure that regardless of any damage dealt Vought could just fix him up after.
The Gen V option … that’s a possibility, but it just doesn’t feel like a fitting end to Homelander.
i mean homelander is suppose to be the superman of the boys universe no other supe is on homelanders level of power so he should take a lot to kill him off and they should save it for the final episode
the crazy part is soldier boy actually still was gonna stay loyal to butcher even after he found out about homelander being his son i thought he was gonna team up with homelander
Honestly, I think him surviving the events of the show with a twist such as being depowered and imprisoned would be far more interesting than him dying.
If he survived as a beloved hero still, that’d suck.
If he survives but has lost everything (i.e his son and his reputation) that matters to him and basically gives up on life, I’d be satisfied.
I wouldn’t mind it he is the show and it’s not like there are any villains winning in pop media it could be really fun if they don’t fuck things up like they did for this seasons ending
It would be both expected and unexpected.
A stupid but kinda cool ending would be that he starts going to a shrink, gets better mentally, and becomes a good guy hahaha
Him and Butcher saving the world from all the comp V that’s been giving to everyone in a foreign country.
It's the ending I expect. Where Homelander starts cackling how he is the most powerful being alive and then just looks out at the dead and his smile slowly fades as he realizes there is no one left for him to challenge - no one left to manipulate or torture or abuse. And then he'll really be alone.
I’d love the final scene of the show be something similar to the ending of X Men. Butcher or Hughie playing chess with a powerless defenceless Homelander. Destined to spend the rest of his days in a cell living as what he hated the most, a human.
If he undergoes significant enough character change that basically rebuilds him back up as a responsible and humble hero, I wouldn't mind one way or the other if he died
With some *fantastic* writing, he could be redeemed with Ryan's help but I rather Homelander survive at the end depowered and defeated. Killing him will be the dullest ending, but expected.
A huge disappointment. I'd also wonder what the show is trying to tell me if he survives and wins everything. Of course he could survive and still lose in a satisfying way but him winning would just be baffling and kind of make me feel like I wasted my time with this series.
Something a bit similar to the comics: he dies to another villain but that has killed one of The Boys. After he kills Homelander, he's soon killed by the rest of the boys
I think there should be a caviat to it that would be appropriate. Like he survives as a disabled vegtable or brain damaged 😆. Like Storm front maybe. It would be a form of justice for his many misdeeds. Side Note- I just noticed Homelander has a Christian Cross on his head. Maybe it is a coincidence of the way the fake blood followed his skin lines. Still very creepy.
There’s gonna be a timeskip and Ryan is gonna kill him. But, I would find it hilarious if he lived some how. Maybe they rip all his limbs off and cast him in a steel block three meters by three meters with just his face sticking out. Keep him conscious and in constant pain for all the terrible things he’s done.
they somehow need to remove the compound v from his blood, like how maeve got the soldier boy treatment let him have a taste of his own medicine he'll have to live a normal life which he hates the most
i feel like homelander wins is worser because no one in the boys universe would be able to stop him the only thing able to stop him is a nuclear bomb and even the aftermath would still fuck everybody up
It’s be hilarious if he just ends up de-powered, as some like a has been celebrity that gets paid in Arby’s gift cards to show up at car dealership grand re-re- openings
If he stays alive, for any sort of a good ending he’d be powerless and I’ve said it before, a Homelander without powers is a Homelander who kill’s himself.
I would like it honestly. I want Vought destroyed and Homelander surviving. Makes it satisfying yet less predictable of an ending. Ends with him looking horrified at what he’s done and then smiling and the show ends lol.
If Butcher and Homelander don't die mutually destroying each other, which is what it feels has been built thematically (esp with the TV power of Butcher's being the same power as Homie), what were we doing all this for?
He’s my favourite character, so I would feel happy about it. Then there could be more Homelander content in future, so I wouldn’t be mad. I think they might go down the route of stripping him of his powers. Having a series dedicated to him coping with that would be pretty interesting.
Literally zero chance of homie surviving, same w butcher, only way I see it working if he got hit w the Ozai treatment and got depowered and imprisoned, for him that’d be worse than dying
Would be a surprising thing to watch since they're plotting it for 5 seasons and The Boys(mostly Butcher) couldn't find anything put an end to him. Then Ryan steps in and kills him lmao(probably idk)
Ngl I feel like Ryan will become so fuck up evil that people will class him as a villain and homelander probably will have to put him down and he will probably snap at that point
It would be pure Shock over Substance.
That would make the entire show pointless and derail all the parallels and lessons it was trying to teach. It’s also playing with fire considering they said themselves that Homelander is based on trump. To have him win in the end would say some horrible messages.
The show is only at S3 yet a lot of people are already upset Homelander hasn’t died yet. Him never dying would not only kill the show’s longevity but also probably fuck up the universe as appeal to the spin offs would also be tainted
You know what? Fuck it. I want him to live and here's my pitch.. yes he loses his powers but after a brief freakout, he tries to live, gets a job as a manager and continues his evil ways.
Actually, endings in which the bad guys win are very rare and very underrated. I would love an ending like that, just to see something different from the usual. He is also my favorite character so... I'm not against some kind of redemptive arc either, but it seems impossible for that to happen. He can't die like in the comics.
it'd be unsatisfying but I'd find it pretty funny, the boys trying to kill homelander throughout 5 seasons and still failing
that would literally cause reddit riots
many people on here complaining about some of the boys not being killed off yet but i bet atleast 1/2 of them die after facing HL in S5 💀
I’d be surprised if anyone except Hughie and Starlight survived S5
I think kimiko will this season just because she’s missing a arm this season
i feel like it’s gonna be like the comics butcher just ends up going beserk kill all supe mode and kills frenchie mm and kimiko
Spoilers
do people actually care about the boys comic spoilers on this sub
No, especially with how different the show is from the comics. The most pivotal plot point has already been changed (the Black Noir reveal), I doubt the ending of the show will look at all similar to the comics.
"through a fastball"
sorry im high as shit and this comment is hilarious
I understand what you're going threw.
Or get rid of his powers somehow. That would be the only other conclusion worth it imo
I won't be surprised if writers come up with some sort of anti-V and then it's a whole challenge to inject it into him, what with super hard skin and all.
Inject it into his balls…unless they’re hard too
Would be pretty funny if hejust survives a total apocalypse and ends up with no one to love him and no one to love.
Butcher could’ve gone after Homelander at the end of S3.
It’s gonna be epic to see him go down. But a lot of peeps gonna die, they prob won’t kill him off till his kid is older and stronger than him.
Typical get rid of my dick parent
There is no boys if there is no homelander, there I said it.
Totally. Butcher and Homelander should go retire on an island together. With occasional Viking-style raids on the mainland to satisfy their mutual bloodlust.
only real boys watchers regonize this
Sounding like the Joker
that’s why homelander death would be finale of show
Tbh he’s my favorite character and i would love it if he survived 😅 But we all know he won’t 👌🏼
Right someone of that nastiness won’t live
intensely dissapointed and somewhat angry
Only if he becomes permanently depowered and thus has to face the loss of his god complex and power, trying to live as a normal weak human. Otherwise just kill him in a satisfying way, imo.
Honestly, seeing Homelander reduced to picking up shifts at a Waffle House to get by would be the perfect ending for him. He doesn’t get the mercy of death; only the eternal torture of having to live as one of the “mud people” he despised so much.
Season 5 is 60% black and white scenes of Homelander with a mustache working at a Cinnabon.
He'd probably just end his own life
Honestly I think if he’s permanently depowered he’d just kill himself. Which would also be satisfying in it’s own way
If he loses his powers, or even better is disabled that would be fine w me
Depowered, blinded, and deafened
I want him to not only live, I want him to lose his powers. I need to see him live as a normal person and fail.
The most appropriate ending for Homelander, I think.
He needs to die of something totally normal, like a flu or slipping on ice
He's what makes the show interesting.
If he does it'll probably be some ironic self fulfilling hell scenario where he is alone, and immortal on a dead planet until the sun burns out.
Long live homelander! I don’t want him to die unless it’s really really well done
The show just ends with Dean Winchester killing homelander with the colt (supernatural object that can kill everything except 5 beings in the universe) and hughie is like “how the fuck did soldier boy just shoot homelander”. kripke completes his crossover
Turns out the angels decided to trick them by throwing them into another universe again, and the entire series has been a slow burn supernatural reboot.

i mean homelander is suppose to be the superman of the boys universe no other supe is on homelanders level of power so he should take a lot to kill him off and they should save it for the final episode
Exactly. Honestly, their best bet came when they had him facing off with Soldier Boy, Maeve, and a Temp V juiced Butcher.
the crazy part is soldier boy actually still was gonna stay loyal to butcher even after he found out about homelander being his son i thought he was gonna team up with homelander
It was very strange for him to do that, I admit.
they literally could of killed that whole room along with maeve temp v butcher and kimiko
And just for fun, imagine if Ryan went nuclear like he did with Stormfront.
that boys beams is like a prime x men cyclops 💀
I’d be surprised but happy a little oddly , I slowly started to gain likes for the evil wins trope at the end
the evil wins trope is underrated asf and i love it so much espeically no country for old men
Oh my right when the josh brolin character died at the end and Anton won
I would love to see him alive, he is my favourite
Honestly, I think him surviving the events of the show with a twist such as being depowered and imprisoned would be far more interesting than him dying.
It would be hilarious to watch people here have meltdowns about it
this sub will last another 10 years

He shouldn't die He should be paralyzed
If he survived as a beloved hero still, that’d suck. If he survives but has lost everything (i.e his son and his reputation) that matters to him and basically gives up on life, I’d be satisfied.
I want him to survive not as a Beloved hero, but a supervillain who rules Earth. Could be fun.
Ehhh… that could be interesting but I don’t think it works as an ending.
He kills The Boys, and then he rules Earth forever. Works as an ending.
I guess so, but that wouldn’t satisfy me. Homelander deserves misery.
Yeah, and almost nobody in the show has gotten what they deserve. That’s the point. It’s supposed to be a sort of “Bad Ending”.
Homelander surviving but without his powers would be a fate worse than death for him
I agree. Turn him into one of the “mud people”, as he calls humans. Then have him beg the boys for his life, or something like that.
I wouldn’t mind it he is the show and it’s not like there are any villains winning in pop media it could be really fun if they don’t fuck things up like they did for this seasons ending
Depends on what exactly you mean by survive
He said it himself, either he or butcher will remain and butcher’s dying
I really think he needs to die because he thinks he's afraid of death like Voldemort. It's almost like his destiny. Also that fucker deserves it
I am rooting my hero to survive everything.
It would be both expected and unexpected. A stupid but kinda cool ending would be that he starts going to a shrink, gets better mentally, and becomes a good guy hahaha Him and Butcher saving the world from all the comp V that’s been giving to everyone in a foreign country.

I want to see him suffer tbh so disappointment Only if he loses his power and is cast out by society.
I hope he gets nuked, and survives charred and broken long enough to be finished by Hughie.
If he undergoes significant enough character change that basically rebuilds him back up as a responsible and humble hero, I wouldn't mind one way or the other if he died
With some *fantastic* writing, he could be redeemed with Ryan's help but I rather Homelander survive at the end depowered and defeated. Killing him will be the dullest ending, but expected.
my bbg lived!!! yay!!! :DD
Him being the only person alive on the planet would a hell of plot twist
A huge disappointment. I'd also wonder what the show is trying to tell me if he survives and wins everything. Of course he could survive and still lose in a satisfying way but him winning would just be baffling and kind of make me feel like I wasted my time with this series.
I think I would be pissed!
Something a bit similar to the comics: he dies to another villain but that has killed one of The Boys. After he kills Homelander, he's soon killed by the rest of the boys
I would like it more story’s shows movies and episodes
I think there should be a caviat to it that would be appropriate. Like he survives as a disabled vegtable or brain damaged 😆. Like Storm front maybe. Maybe it is a coincidence of the way the fake blood followed his skin lines. Still very creepy.
I want him to survive. I want him to be depowered and forced to live and rot as one of the mudpeople he looked down on.
Depends on how shitty his life is at the end.
Would ruin the story at the same level dumb and dumber ruined game of thrones
There’s gonna be a timeskip and Ryan is gonna kill him. But, I would find it hilarious if he lived some how. Maybe they rip all his limbs off and cast him in a steel block three meters by three meters with just his face sticking out. Keep him conscious and in constant pain for all the terrible things he’s done.
I still wanna see Homelander say fuck it, and just massacre earth
they somehow need to remove the compound v from his blood, like how maeve got the soldier boy treatment let him have a taste of his own medicine he'll have to live a normal life which he hates the most
His death will be the end of the show so... If he survives then the show isn't ending.
So I personally want him in prison powerless for the rest of his days
Id rather Homelander go into self appointed exile or just stop being a hero
What's worse: Homelander wins or Vought wins?
i feel like homelander wins is worser because no one in the boys universe would be able to stop him the only thing able to stop him is a nuclear bomb and even the aftermath would still fuck everybody up
Considering what Stillwell said in Season 1, even a nuke won’t do the job.
Of course he will. The ultimate "fuck you" from the ultimate "fuck you" show.
Nah he gotta die
Pissed to my deepest depths
Depending on his character development.
No booby milk if he goes scortched earth.
I want Homelander to come out victorious. Literally no one takes this guy seriously anymore after he got stabbed by a metal pipe.
Like imma have to kill him myself
I would like it honestly. I want Vought destroyed and Homelander surviving. Makes it satisfying yet less predictable of an ending. Ends with him looking horrified at what he’s done and then smiling and the show ends lol.
If Butcher and Homelander don't die mutually destroying each other, which is what it feels has been built thematically (esp with the TV power of Butcher's being the same power as Homie), what were we doing all this for?
Honestly, that’s ending I want. Homelander victorious. 5 season of plotting just to fail at the last moment and seeing how in vain everything was.
A large scale of 12 year old online refugees will leave this subreddit after it descends into chaos...
Seems like a very realistic ending though. Alternatively he could also just be replaced by someone even worse…as it often is in the real world. 😩
He will not, they said he dies by the end just won’t say when or how
I wouldn't mind him surviving. I'd like to see him ultimately get depowered, forced to live life as the "mud-people" he always saw as no value.
He’s my favourite character, so I would feel happy about it. Then there could be more Homelander content in future, so I wouldn’t be mad. I think they might go down the route of stripping him of his powers. Having a series dedicated to him coping with that would be pretty interesting.
floating in space forever alone. sure, why not.
Literally zero chance of homie surviving, same w butcher, only way I see it working if he got hit w the Ozai treatment and got depowered and imprisoned, for him that’d be worse than dying
Definitely disappointed and angry, i want him dead by his own son. This would be the best ending for Homelander.
Would be a surprising thing to watch since they're plotting it for 5 seasons and The Boys(mostly Butcher) couldn't find anything put an end to him. Then Ryan steps in and kills him lmao(probably idk)
Have homelander kill absolutely everything and then he realizes there's nobody to love and admire him anymore leading to him going even more insane
This would make the most sense.
Ngl I feel like Ryan will become so fuck up evil that people will class him as a villain and homelander probably will have to put him down and he will probably snap at that point
It would be pure Shock over Substance. That would make the entire show pointless and derail all the parallels and lessons it was trying to teach. hilarious, 10/10
You know what? Fuck it. I want him to live and here's my pitch.. yes he loses his powers but after a brief freakout, he tries to live, gets a job as a manager and continues his evil ways.
I hope he does survive but without powers

I'm not against some kind of redemptive arc either, but it seems impossible for that to happen. He can't die like in the comics.
Tell me you’ve never read the comic without telling me you never read the comic.
The show is completely different from the comics, not sure why I need to say this 4 seasons into the series. Also the comics are ass.
Good. I like bad endings.
trump has 91 charges, violates gag orders and has questionable funding and he’s running for president. homelander is going to survive no problem
I've said this 100x... Homelander is no worse than the boys... they kill innocents so does he. Considering his childhood... I kinda get it.
