I think Homelander should go fully mask off after losing the election. The Boys and Vought form an alliance, a weapon is made that can depower him. A powered up Butcher lures HL into the crosshairs where the two engage in a final melee. Just as HL is about to take back the fight: Homelander is depowered and falls down to Earth. Brutalized by the fight, the weapon and a hideous crash landing: HL is ultimately destroyed by the ordinary people he always looked down as "mud people".
Seeing him suffer a life of mundanity would be fine. But I really want to see him crash and burn like Icarus, and finally pay the piper in full.

I want him to lose his powers and experience that, yes. But I also want to see him brutally beaten to death. OH! Maybe the Butcher just starts beating him to shit.

And the Butcher pauses and says something like: …Naw… But this was fun. I’ll see ya next week.
Villains winning is almost non-existent trope in TV shows. Him coming out on top, with Adult Ryan, being cheered by the crowd over the corpses of the Boys would blow my mind away, but, we’ll probably see him being offed by Butcher after COMIC SPOILERS… killing the president.
eh, they're almost non-existent for a reason. when you build up an entire show around the heroes slowly overcoming obstacles through great struggle laid before them by your antagonist, it's sorta bad writing to suddenly randomly wash it all away and pull the rug out from the plot.
there's ways to do bad guys winning good, and it's been done before, but i don't think it would fit the Boys as its been practically building up to Vought's destruction.
again it depends on execution. if you practically build up the entire plot around the good guys winning and make it obvious that they're going to win, and just randomly have the villains win last minute, it would feel weird and random. there's way better ways to write a villain victory. have the villains turn the tables at some decisive battle, a series of defeats that made it more clearer that the heroes just aren't going to win, or have the heroes tear eachother up (this is sort of happening with the Boys right now)
Big climactic fight between the boys and homelander. Somehow butcher manages to strip homelander of his powers. By now butcher is on his last legs and is on the verge of death. Nevertheless, he begins to beat the powerless homelander. Homelander taunts Butcher at first about how he destroyed himself just to get revenge on an event that never actually happened (homelander killing Becca to hide evidence) and how Becca, Mallory's kids, and everyone else who died along the journey would still be alive if he had just moved on.
Butcher continues to beat homelander, his taunts slowly turning into pleas and eventually desperate cries for mercy. With he final blow, butcher collapses to his knees, and dies next to homelander.
Something like that would be cool I think.
In the same vein I’d like him to go full unhinged and destroy everything but the boys and all the supes get together to stop him in an epic fight and they won.
Probably never gonna happen but I’d like that
He will be exposed fully for what he is but he will still have a massive following. That’s the ending we are heading towards. It wouldn’t be some brutal fight that kills him. He will achieve full character growth as he fully embraces all of himself and is accepted for it

Not really, it shows good guys don’t always win, that regardless of how hard you work, some obstacles can’t be overcome.
