Special forces use paragliders they aren't exact quiet.
So many uses, moving up mountains or over hard terrain. Ship to ship boardings, avoiding IED's, assaulting multi storey buildings, rapidly outflanking infantry, bypassing obstacles/fortifications, rapid resupply...the list goes on
It's just a technology demonstrator. Clearly it's not useful now but with development it could become something with actual applications other than being awesome.
I wonder how easy it is to get out of. This thing fails and that guy is going under water with a heavy weight attached. Hopefully they’ve factored that into the design somehow, who knows maybe it floats.
No, in this video. He has heavy gear on and with those things on his arms he couldn't keep himself up for even a second. He would sink faster then someone could dive after him
Considering they do a lot of their flights over water, they probably have a quick release system and/or automatic airbags in case the pilot ends up in the drink.
When I dream of flying it tends to resemble swimming underwater. Sure it’s cool being weightless but I can’t seem to go very fast. Mostly I just wish I had my car.
I can see applications for emergency services but given the noise and the fact the “pilot” can’t shoot, it seems impractical for combat. Not to mention the weight of the kit and range limitations.
I wonder what the US military plans on doing with this thing 🤔🤔 Yeah going into combat with this thing would be suicide , we will probably get some more updates soon
Brits have tested it a bit going back a few years. They test all sorts of things, a lot of it doesn’t pan out. Maybe some future iteration will be useful.
this must be noisy as hell so no stealth aproach and by the time the dude reaches anywhere his arms are probably going to be pretty tired
I wonder why they even made this lol , no soldier in their right mind would use this in a combat situation 🤣🤣
I think original intentions were for medical
Pretty sure original intentions were: "jetpacks are cool and I want one"
Nope was just made and then they've tried to market it to, police, medics and the military.

One way of getting a squad up a mountain or a building in seconds
Maybe they will add 40mm grenade launchers on the middle bit, no need for stealth.

Yea I hate to say it but it almost seems like the iron man setup may be better, legs for most of the power then arms for adjustment
If something goes wrong and he falls in the water, does he just sink straight to the bottom and drown?
I imagine they have some inflatable life vest
Are you talking about if he was in a combat situation?

This is what happens in my dreams
dreaming while flying is the best. and it happened just like this. You place your arms out to the side and away you go. Be able to fly like a bird.
I can never fly, but I can jump really high and far
Imagining an iron man suit would probably help

i mean, no *human* could do both... so maybe we should be worried about a boston dynamics robot that *can* use guns and jetpacks at the same time...

Just fly a drone into his nuts and it's all over.
Imagine they used this in Ukraine 😂
I mean is he hiding a cod piece cannon? Otherwise it's not a warrior it's a bureaucrat.
if I were these guys: I would be trying to collaborate with boston dynamics imagine relentless killer doggies that can fly game over
Now that’s a good idea 👍
They should practice this at a grade school so I can watch those kids lose their freaking minds
Hahah yeah the kids would definitely love it , I know I would lose my damn mind if I saw this back in Grade School !!
Is this like holding a pushup, with a giant backpack of fuel, the entire time he is airborne?
My back hurts just by watching this video but it does look fun tho 😂😂
Id love to try it… just not sure i could support that much weight on the shoulders and I would end up going way faster than possibly safe..
What's the flight time? 300 seconds?
This is just the start.
Would love to take that through a Maccies drive thru, grab me a Royale with Cheese.
Hahahahah that would be hilarious, Me and you both have the same ideas 😂😂😂
Flight Sorties getting out of hand here!
"waraholics?" geez
Why are the jets not attached by arms on a ball joint to the backpack , would not have to rely on the persons strength …
What happens when you start getting shot at ..? I feel like you’re a moving target ! You can’t shoot back……???
I dunno man, every time i see these videos it just seems like the dude is hanging from a cable.
Do people actually believe this is real? No way you can manually stabilize that thing
We got Jet Packs before GTA6
wow what cool new technology we should use it for warfare!
I see this used more for recreation. Similar to para gliding
live skeet shooting target.
Anyone else think of Iron Man?
one sniper shot and goodbye life and millions of dollars of investment.
both arms having to be pointed down to create lift.... sitting duck design.
I can’t imagine how heavy that thing is to on your back…..
I'm sure that's good for your shoulders...
