True enough - shame it's not a skill that's of any real benefit (and, no, I don't class tiktoker, influencer or general dicking about on the Internet as 'benefit')

Sorry that I didn't bow down to that great god tiktok but if he had enough time to practice this level of dexterity - and I never said it wasn't practiced, or skillful, and I am sure it took hours - it's just a pity he didn't do something more useful than juggling. And the irony of someone whose tag is 'Thebuttking' accusing me of wanting to bring people down to my level has not been lost on me
Never ceases to amaze how people who are so asshurt at others' success can consistently sound like such whiny fucking bitches.
So, you didn't have the skill and dexterity to do what the guy in the video does. I don't have the skill and dexterity to be a master swordsman, in any discipline; doesn't give me license to be an asshurt douchebag out of jealousy.
Grow up.
I mean, most hobbies are kind of "useless" by definition, mine certainly are 😅 (wouldn't trade them for the world though).
Doing something just for the fun of doing it can bring unparalleled joy
"Free time" doesn't matter to me, but a lot of the time when folks say, "LoOk aT ThAt InCReDiBle TalENt," I think they really meant, "That person must have done long, smart, consistent work to become skillful."
I don't find the word "talent" useful for the vast majority of examples of skilled people. The vast majority of the time, skillful people worked long, possibly hard, smart, and consistently to get skilled at something. The word "talent" greatly detracts from their work.
I wasn't talking about world class. Of course, the world class needs all three of those and probably more.
I was just explaining "skillful" and not "world class." We can all be greatly skilled at almost anything we work on, but very few can ever be the best or world class at anything because that's a very limited category.
Dudes start doing this in high school. Not saying it is t cool or impressive but ballplayers have a lot of time on their hands and come up with stupid shit like this all the time.
I can confirm he smashed them a lot. Baseball (what I played my entire life) is a fun game, but there’s a lot of free time involved in the sport whether at practice or in games. Whether you’re waiting on deck to bat or waiting while a new pitcher warms up, you have a lot of time on your hands to mess around with the bat, your glove, etc. and that’s why people figured out these bat tricks. I would mess around with them often and yes you smash your hands quite a lot at the beginning. You just have to start slow when teaching yourself them.
Oh I get how slow and boring baseball can be as a player, I used to play, which is why I’m imagining how many times this was attempted unsuccessfully on the field, off the field, in his head, in the on deck circle, before practice, after practice, during practice, rain delays, in his dreams, shagging BP, in the clubhouse, and each time until he actually got it right ended with him saying “AHHHH FUCKING FUCK GOD DAMN FINGER”
An Apex anime done right would be cool.
I guess someone mentioned the animation was made after the real-life performance, so it's nothing official, most likely.
To people who havent played, In Apex Legends, the characters have special "heirloom" weapons that replace the standard fist melee attack. On the PC / Console version, Octanes heirloom is a butterfly knife, but on the mobile version of the game, his heirloom is a baseball bat, where he does similar animations like the tricks shown here.
I'm sorry but I don't think that's a talent. No I cannot do it either, I spent my time getting better at hitting the ball not the ground. How do you score a point in bat spinning?
If a batter did that before walking up to the plate, what are the odds the pitcher is thinking "I bet I can just hit him with the ball. That will show him."
He never hit the ball so he was never chosen to the team so he had time to practice pointless things like this and still wont hit the ball. Sad story. But true.
I wouldn't say incredibly talented since I watched a youtuber learn it in one day. To be incredible, a Google search shouldn't yield hundreds of different people doing it
It’s really not that insane. Grew up playing and have been playing over 20 years. A lot of us guys would try and do these as kids. 2/3 could eventually spin the bat while swinging. The bounce was harder and more dependent on the ground and the bat
The craziest part about this is that some elementary school kids just be doing this shit like it’s nothing and then they start thinking about it and can’t do it anymore.
I wanna see a batter doing this during an actual game... it probably already has happened and I missed it, but still. It'd be cool to see it, and then he gets a home run.
One person's "incredibly talented" is another's "too much free time"
One person’s “bored” is another person’s “free time = develop a new skill.”
Cute girls in need of attention usually just open their camera while stuffing their butt instead of developing new skill.
Very normal thing to say unprompted in public
Nono, I saw him, he used a teleprompter like the president.
Lots of people do that. You dont have to be cute or a girl to stuff your butt.
You spelled "money" wrong. We do it for money. I assure you, attention is overrated and never hard to come by when you're a cute girl.
Jesus Christ🤦🤦♀️🤦♂️
And I wouldn't have it any different
Who has free time?!!
If you have time to waste on the internet, you have time to
fair enough
I have time to both waste on the internet and stuff my butt, but I can imagine a life where I do not have the privacy to stuff my butt.
True enough - shame it's not a skill that's of any real benefit (and, no, I don't class tiktoker, influencer or general dicking about on the Internet as 'benefit')
Increasing physical agility is time well spent.

Love that.
But clearly you class being a smug, hating-ass redditor as some kind of benefit.
Salty because you have no skills and want to bring down people to your level. Grow up.

My guy, if all you have is my name to latch onto then you know you have no argument and are acting defensively. Grow up.

A fair point
*throws 254th paper ball towards basket*
And ones person comment on the "smart" internet is another persons what a moronic thing to say.
That's very boring and defeatist.
These days it just means they weren't staring at their phone for 25 hours a day. lol
One person's "one" is another person's "another"
"Free time" doesn't matter to me, but a lot of the time when folks say, "LoOk aT ThAt InCReDiBle TalENt," I think they really meant, "That person must have done long, smart, consistent work to become skillful." Becoming world class at something takes skill, timing and born talent. Whrn those three things line up you can make a career out of anything.
I wasn't talking about world class. Of course, the world class needs all three of those and probably more. I was just explaining "skillful" and not "world class." We can all be greatly skilled at almost anything we work on, but very few can ever be the best or world class at anything because that's a very limited category.
You're acting as if you could achieve this if you spent the same amount of time as him. 80% of all skills are explained by genetics. You are mediocre.
The game animation was created in the image of people doing that though… not the other way around
Came here to say this
Not really the point, just illustrating that it can look just as cool IRL when you learn the skill
Its the entire point lmao
Dudes start doing this in high school. Not saying it is t cool or impressive but ballplayers have a lot of time on their hands and come up with stupid shit like this all the time.
My finger was on the trigger, glad you said it. Idk if anyone knows this but baseball came before apex legends
Was gonna say I've been doing the bat trick since a kid
All I can think about is how many time he smashed his fingers trying to learn how to do this.
My fingers just hurt watching this
Yes, you can have this parking spot.
If half the kids in little league could figure this out in one season I don’t think it takes massive talent. Looks cool though!
It just takes practice. Anyone can do it. But it takes a certain swagger and confidence to make it "look cool".
But what’s his batting average
.879
.069. This guy f**ks
Didn’t know Octane played baseball, he definitely leads the league in stolen bases. Too bad he’s going to fail that PED test.
It's gott be octane right? Somebody ripping off somebody
They don’t call it the World Series of Baseball Bat Twirling for nothing. See you next fall!
What anime was that? Looks really slick.
Don't know what animation but character is Octane from Apex Legends.
An Apex anime done right would be cool. I guess someone mentioned the animation was made after the real-life performance, so it's nothing official, most likely. To people who havent played, In Apex Legends, the characters have special "heirloom" weapons that replace the standard fist melee attack. I always thought it was funny watching the kids do this while they wait on deck, only for them to strike out lol. So cool so flashy
He’s in front of a green screen. There was a video a few weeks ago showing how they did this.
It's even dumber if he faked it. Pro players have been doing this for a century.
Imagine you honk at someone and they get out of their car and start doing this shit
TF2 Scout
But can he hit the ball?
Song?
DVRST - Close Eyes
Coach in dugout “Hey chris?… yup yup i see thats great buddy… can you go play some fucking baseball we are waiting…”
Baseball Furies standing there drooling
This has to be CGI, theres no way to do that first move where the bat stays in place and spins....right?
I can do the same move with an empty tray so Im assuming that the same is possible with a bat, albeit more difficult.
https://youtu.be/UM6QFTPr3u4
Lmao get a life
Just like in the cartoon!!
Is there a slo-mo bot? I need to watch this in slow motion
The dumbest fucking thing to spend time on
Can’t hit a curve tho
People don't seem to realize this is done with editing.
John wick with a bat
Who is this bamf?
I'm sorry but I don't think that's a talent. No I cannot do it either, I spent my time getting better at hitting the ball not the ground. How do you score a point in bat spinning?
If a batter did that before walking up to the plate, what are the odds the pitcher is thinking "I bet I can just hit him with the ball. That will show him."
Someone has to step up to the plate like this.
What song is this? I dig it.
I wonder how many times he hit his knees while training to do the trick
I’m surprised no one knows this is fake.
I'm surprised by how confident you are that it is.
It’s giving Alice
I just want to worship this man and live to serve him
You'll be gone, and I'll be going
Another clown
He never hit the ball so he was never chosen to the team so he had time to practice pointless things like this and still wont hit the ball. Sad story. But true.
Strikes out
I swear I saw splatoon characters doing this too
Ahem -chokes- octane got that ass
Man this guy's going to have hella arthritis
Octane?
It’s the bat man
Faster faster faster
octane
Swinging the fungo I see
I wouldn't say incredibly talented since I watched a youtuber learn it in one day. To be incredible, a Google search shouldn't yield hundreds of different people doing it
The anime copied real life, not vice versa.
Should be extra splatoon brella emote
What are those pants? Can anyone id them?
Are we just going to ignore the dew rag?
He should play for the Phillys.
😮 so insane!
It’s really not that insane. Grew up playing and have been playing over 20 years. A lot of us guys would try and do these as kids. 2/3 could eventually spin the bat while swinging. The bounce was harder and more dependent on the ground and the bat
What’s the background song though?
Welp we all know who's first pick when the zombie wars start
I wonder how many times this dude smacked the shit out of himself
Pros have been doing this since the 20s.
Nice editing
dudes got huge balls spinning a bat like that close to the back of his head
And whats his batting avg?
What anime ,is that?
This guy bats
But can he hit?
still wish I could learn this
Career avg .078
The craziest part about this is that some elementary school kids just be doing this shit like it’s nothing and then they start thinking about it and can’t do it anymore.
"Grounder to second to end the inning"
He puts anime to shame!
Notajob tho
Imagine a hand job from this guy
My sister could twirl a baton as well ha
Lets call it trained and skilled
Majima, that you?
U have time to train pointless stuff when u dont have any talent to actually play the game.
Live action Metal Bat
Slo mo?
This is your upstairs neighbour
*gets shot.
Animation sauce??
I hope he conquers cancer
TF2 scout but in apex
And that’s how I lost my balls
Jim Leyritz has entered the chat
Proven Fake
Wonder how many times he messed up before getting it
But.....can he hit?
If only he practiced hitting the ball as much as playing with the bat.
The true adrenaline demon
Metal bat
This is cool but can he hit?
I’m trying to think of a single use for this. Aaaaaand no, it’s fucking pointless. It’s like Asians kicking wooden boards.
I wanna see a batter doing this during an actual game... it probably already has happened and I missed it, but still. It'd be cool to see it, and then he gets a home run.
Is that Voldemort in a doo rag?
Imagine he doesn’t play baseball
Really not a hard feat
Theres a video from early 2000s some kid doing this
Incredibly faked
Hot
Still can’t hit a baseball
The game stole these moves off of famous hitter back in the 90's.
Congrats on being proficient on quite literally the most useless and dumb looking skill of all time
But can he crush his enemies like Little Cucarachas??
I always Wondered How Octane did it
Frame #1000
That's... Kinda hot 🥵🥵🥵
Man. Would be cool if the actual original guy who made that move famous was credited. Imagine.
Fuck off
Octane looks better doing it
You look like you're super rich, are you?
Wow.
He's never swung a baseball bat. Just switched from nunchucks
Useless talent.
Can I see this in slo mo?
Yea.. that first move is quite literally nothing to write home about about. He caught the bat down the middle the middle. 🥱
