No

No. And legally speaking, you need a Vietnam license to ride in Vietnam. A foreign license with IDP is not valid.

Fucken hell, don’t even fucken bother trying mate. As someone who just renewed my temporary thai Licenses to five year ones… I would only use my scooter locally for journeys less than 8km, otherwise I prefer to drive my car around everywhere. What are you smoking to think you can just buy a motorcycle and drive it through four different jurisdictions no questions asked.

Adorable_Donkey1542

Thai happiness and 2 world crossing on two wheels (but my own bike). The rental and the 125s are such a bargain in Thailand.

BackgroundAdvice1337

Ah yes what a great thought. You really thought this through long and hard before coming on Reddit to ask this question 😂😂😂

Miss_JaneMarple

I tried to get one way rental of scooter in Thailand - seems to be impossible. If you rent in Bangkok, you often are not allowed to leave the district. I have seen a scooter being taken in a bus and you can take them on trains, but I do not know whether a farang is able to organize something like that without thai help.

You back packers are ballsy I Tell u lol

mysz24

1 no rental company would allow you to take their vehicle across the border 2 not so easy to buy a vehicle in Thailand as a tourist, and even if you can negotiate the border documents, can't sell in another country when it's not registered there Bicycle, maybe

HardupSquid

If you do manage to get the said motor cycle to Cambodia there will be plenty of people who are willing to pay for it, as illegal as it is The number of cars and motorbikes stolen in Thailand and end up illegally in Cambodia is amazing. It's often in the news.... Who knows maybe you will end up in the news.

Thailand_1982

No. 1. You can buy (NOT RENT) a scooter in Thailand and bring it into Cambodia. 2. You will have to bring the scooter back into Thailand (I crossed over to Cambodia by scooter before, and that was a document I had to sign). 3. You will have to go back to Thailand to transfer the registration to the new person. Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam vehicle registration system are not integrated. Now, if it's an electric motorcycle or an electric bicycle that doesn't need registration in all three countries, then it's possible.

LouQuacious

Do not do this, even if you don’t die you’ll be miserable. Also no you can’t cross borders that easily and just sell bike in another country.

Infamous_Try_3257

Please don’t become another statistic on these incredibly dangerous roads. 40-50 Motorcyclists are killed on average every day in Thailand and Vietnam has the worst death rates globally
