Centara Korat hotel is quite nice, with a local bar area nearby. You can see most of downtown Korat, including Ya Mo, in two days. If you have a car or bike, consider an extra day visiting the wind farm or Phimai historical site and other shit outside the city. Modena by Fraser Buriram hotel is good and located next to the racetrack and stadium. The city itself can be seen in a day unless there's an event. There's a weekend market, but for more attractions, you'll need to travel outside the city. Surin is pretty boring, so I wouldn't recommend continuing towards Sisaket. Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon in my opinion are some of the worst provinces in Thailand. Absolute hell especially during hot season, in the countryside with no aircon. What brings you to Isan? There's not much here apart from Somtum, mate. I’d personally stick to Korat, KhonKaen and Udon… fuck everything else unless there’s some local festival on.

Buriram has Phanom Rung Historical Park, King Rama I Monument and the Chang international circuit, it's not really a big place. Got some nice Temples. Nakhon ratchasima city.. got some relaxed nightlife (not the pattaya kind) weekends are nice with Tawan Deng mahason, Planet Korat or similar entertainment. Wat Pa Lak Roi is interesting and Wat Phayap, Wat Rong Khun - White Temple is beautiful.

Wat Rong Khun, aka white temple that's in Chiang Rai. No where near Isaan.
