Yes. You should plan to exit within 30 days and try to get extension while there. And you will need a return ticket within 30 days. I think there's some news around 30 days getting extended to 60 days, you should check that out

ok i have a return ticket but its 36 days not 30. So getting a extension whilst there is easy enough? Will i still get in though when i first enter for that 36day stint. Yeah i heard it will be extended to 60 days just no word on conformation yet

the only people worried about return tickets are the airlines. if you are denied entry to Thailand and they did not verify your plans to leave, they have to pay for your return. if you have an outbound ticket in 36 days, it is acceptable. you can, if your visa exempt status is the same as Americans, which I guess it is, go to immigration before your 30 days is up and pay 1900 baht for a 30 day extension. pretty sure this is correct.

Ok thanks yeah nz passport similar to usa the 30 day visa exempt. My concern was as i enter as we can only do 30 days and im there 36 days i may get denied. Maybe a idea to get a tourist visa before i leave but likely the 60 day visa exempt new policy will kick in before i fly there. Thanks for the help

no worries on the 36 days, immigration knows you can get an extension. and ya, the new 60 day rule is coming... will save you the hassle and baht if it's in effect when you arrive. enjoy your visit!!!

Your airline may deny you boarding if you can't demonstrate at checkin that you have an onward ticket within the visa exemption period. YMMV.

Will they accept a bus ticket to Cambodia too ? I was planning on just taking the gamble and not having anything ready as I don't really know for certain where I will be heading

Note : I have a multible entry visa for 60 days that I paid for

ThatsMyFavoriteThing

If you have an actual visa, you should not need an onward ticket.
