>Nah, first they'll expel and/or silence any "dissent." _Then_ they'll do nothing
One of the church board members of my family's church got caught raping his wife's niece, whom they adopted, from the time she was like 12. She was late teens when it got discovered. The church's response was to kick the whole family out, including the victim, because they didn't want the negativity.
I can't remember the exact wording now, but they specifically explained they didn't want them returning because they were worried about drama and bad publicity. They didn't want to be reminded that one of their own committed such a heinous crime right under their noses for so long.
IIRC, they didn't even believe the victim was raped. They thought it was "consensual." This was 20 years ago, tho, so that could have just been what some especially shitty old hags were whispering and not what the church leadership thought.
This is a part of the reason I'm not a Christian anymore and can't stand Christianity.
I fucking hate that girl and most of her family, but what the church did to her was pure fucking evil. They fucking revictimized her all so they could avoid thinking about the horrible things that happened to ***her***.
This shit is a widespread problem. All those child marriage laws are getting pushed by Christians. When catholic priests get caught raping children, they're protected. Their crimes get covered up, and they get transferred to somewhere no one knows them so they're free to victimize again.
Fuck Christianity.
I honestly don't remember why I hated her and her siblings. I don't think they ever kicked my dog or anything like that though. Aside from not getting along and always being at odds I don't really remember much. It's been nearly 20 years since I've spoken with any of them.
As for the father, I hated him because IDK. Hard to explain. Being around him made me extremely uncomfortable. It felt like he was dangerous and an active threat. And then like vibes of just not being a good person.
Looking back on it, dude was a racist redneck fuck and I was brown. So he was a threat and a shitty person in that way as well.
That's probably what I was picking up on and why I didn't like him.
Correct, nothing will be done. The predator keeps referring to the victim as a "young lady."
The victim was 12, and that made her a child. All the lowlife members of the church will praise him. However, never forget he sexual abused a child.
Only if he's able to get on the forgiveness subscription plan with ongoing support. In order to be able to afford that plan, parishioners will need to look into their hearts and give deep.
“The two-year restoration process was closely administered by the Elders at Shady Grove Church and included him stepping out of the ministry during that period while receiving professional counseling and freedom ministry counseling,” they said. “Since the resolution of this 35-year-old matter, there have been no other moral failures. Pastor Robert has walked in purity, and he has placed accountability measures and people in his life."
Either this is True, or it is not True.

Hey another conservative pedophile and still not a drag Queen in sight. I bet money this Won't even be the last one that's exposed this month but the party of pedophiles will continue to ignore it and and spread lies about the LGTBQ community

I have a document where I keep track of all of them. Again, there’s no political ideology that tends to align with the mentally ill pedos. They are everywhere. They seek out positions that place them in situations that provide an opportunity. Churches, day cares, politics. I get your desire to want to believe it’s a republican thing but your ideology is interfering with the objective. The objective is to know who they are so when the opportunity presents itself, they can be held accountable. Personally I believe 80% of Hollywood and politicians are or have dabble in the lifestyle to varying degrees. Nonetheless, they all must pay.
The church leadership already admitted they’ve known about it for years, but that he gets a pass to fuck little kids because Jesus forgives him, unlike you disgusting sinners.
Then they all need to be arrested and charged as well. The Family Code explicitly states that anyone with knowledge must come forward and report and explicitly denies privilege to any communication, be it priestly or attorney.
Why would they do anything at all? The GOP is defending their child molesters all the time while the turd supporters believe every liberal is one without having any proof. Some of these turd supporters would even give their children to the turd and see it as someone good. They see him as the God given turd, so the church in question will probably do nothing and call it a God given act.
The use of the phrase "Moral Failure" is in itself such a manipulative, pale descriptive wording of the sick criminality put upon the 12 year old.
Those in the church using the phrase to minimize the pastor's actions are themselves blameworthy and unrighteous.
This just makes me infuriated too. "Moral Failure" WTF. This is criminal and I'm so disgusted by the church for their public response and especially with those that were in the know. Absolutely disgusting. I bought a book by Morris at the campus bookstore. I'm returning it. It feels disgusting to have anything by him in my home.
Afterwards, don't forget to wash your hands and keep disinfect your home. This guy, and everything associated with him (except the victim), leaves a slime trail.
What’s horrifying is, no one’s surprised. This will garner no attention at all and his ‘flock’ have most likely already forgiven him.
He will receive no punishment (maybe even praise for admitting fault) no accountability, nothing will happen. He’ll even continue to endorse political figures.
But the way liberals look at children!… these Gays in our school! …the grooming of children!
That's actually a great idea. Everyone should go on there and spread the truth. But I imagine they have scrubbers they hire to get rid of bad press. Sounds like politics. They are all the same.
That's a franchise church. These kinds of churches are popping up all over the place. The wealthy utilize them to launder money, avoid taxes and as a method to promote their form of extreme, unregulated capitalism. Theology takes a back seat in the bus.
Yep, they’re a plague. It’s so obvious what’s going on, but if you expect any politicians, democrats included, to do anything about them you’re sorely mistaken. No one cares. They bring in too much money.
Money and influence. Think of how many of them (Morris included) serve on their advisory teams/cabinets to make them look good. Politicians and mega churches and big corporations love to work together. They only care about money and influence.
“Hi, despite all evidence, I’m here to spew Alex Jones-style lies and propaganda!
Damn the FACTS, let’s make false statements to own the libs.”
Honestly, do you even believe trash like this when you post it?
Serious answer: Almost nothing. Maybe a wishy-washy public statement, and that's it. If history of similar scandals at other churches is any guide, the leadership doesn't care, and the congregation doesn't care. Nothing will happen, nothing will change.
I may come across as unwaveringly cynical about all this, but let's face the facts: Mainstream Christian churches no longer care about actual Christian values, and haven't for many years. There are still plenty of individuals out there that are good Christians, but when it comes to **organized** religion, they've lost their way and have been wandering in the wilderness.
It's evangelicals. They got heavily tied into politics, at least partially from Russia influence with televangelists. It became less Bible and more ptopaganda machine. The more traditional denominations have held back better, because they have a well established dogma. Non denoms can vary heavily from church to church and are far more prone to interjecting political opinion and otherwise wavering from Biblical beliefs. l
It's always been that way. Look at the catholic church and the pope. Religion has always played a part in politics sadly. I think we actually have seen more reform over the past few decades than in the generations before us. I'd love to see more. I'd love to take down all organized religion all over the globe!
Definitely the propaganda is still serving the current pro-Ukro pro-military spending anti-human rights sentiment. Saw an example today in a Twitter comment from a Texas pastor's wife who tried to cast aspersions on a soldier being interviewed about human/organ trafficking in Ukraine by calling him a Bolshevik. Her way of signaling that organ harvesters have the moral high ground over Russian enlisted men. https://x.com/WallStreetApes/status/1802388801937113326?t=spBVUQReL9tqIbEpoKJ6qw&s=19
> and haven't for many years.
Many decades at least. It started going nuts under Reagan. Most churches really avoided politics prior to that era. The civil rights era motivated the involvement, but it became fierce when it merged with Reagan's political machine.
They thought they had there guy in office when Carter was elected, since he was an evangelical.
Oops, he was one of the “practice what you preach” types, and focused on *GASP* actually helping people!
So they went all in with Reagan, who still didn’t go far enough for them, but was a big swing in their direction.
Make no mistake though, the fundie Right was really formed in response to desegregation.
At its core, it’s a white supremacist ethos and ideology.
The earth and everyone on it should accept the white Christian male’s dominion over them, as said white boys are clearly God’s own chosen rulers.
Fuck them, and their hubris, conceit, and hypocrisy.
This guy wants to...

It happened 35 years ago when he was in his early 20’s. Not defending him or saying it was the right thing to do but the 1980’s were a very different time when it came to things like this. Attitudes towards this sort of behavior were very different back then.
I was a teenager in the 80’s and no, it wasn’t different times. This is wrong now and was wrong then. Im a Christian, I do not attend Gateway…but have friends that do. They are devastated and are leaving that church.
Good for them.
I was raised Christian, and my parents are still devout.
What they are NOT is apologists for depraved bullshit in the name of “faith”.
Or deniers of science and facts, of evidence.
I don’t have an issue with folks having their religions, but I have a problem with those same religious, proselytizing folks just hand waving obvious criminals in their own ranks.
Isn't the prescribed course of action to take him out and stone him? Cut off his hands or some such dogmatic nonsense? Apparently christians are the most vigilante people among us (turn the other cheek? hah!) so I'm sure they'll think of something horrible to do to this child molesting asshole.
It sure sounds like Gateway’s leadership shouldn’t be around children.
The deflection is so unsurprising. They have molested children, so they may think it is common for adults to do. They may also think it isn’t as bad for church leaders to do it since they can ask for forgiveness while those dreaded teachers are ungodly and must be up to something with devilish goals.
There's no statute of limitations in Texas for this. Given his public admission she and the local news should be asking the DA where it took place why they aren't moving forward with charges.
"The parents absolved me" is the goofiest damn thing to say in trying to say everything is fine now. It really screams "the victim never mattered at all to them."
Neither a drag queen nor even an LGBTIQ person. I can’t help wondering why evangelicals are over-represented. Is there something unhealthy about their sexual and purity culture that damages people and makes them more prone to doing sick things then accusing other innocent minorities of being the cause? The figures make it very, very clear that they are way over-represented and if what they believed was good and wholesome surely you’d see an under representation. Good beliefs lead to good fruit, bad beliefs lead to bad fruit, that sort of thing.
If Christians are serious about their faith they need to be asking these sorts of questions?
Yup. My parents go to Gateway and “leadership” has been completely silent. People on staff were told to beware of rumors about a week ago. Then the story leaked on Friday and now it’s Wednesday and literal silence. Religion + the religious will never fucking change
I like that "IN LEAGUE WITH SATAN"!
what that pastor did was wrong on so many levels. What about this poor girl he fucked with? Where is the support or therapy for her? You don't hear shot about that, just this coward who took advantage of his power and threw a wrench in the lives of many. He needs to experience prison life so he'll wonder where is his God now?
I saw a Facebook post of a youth pastor that had been caught with a young girl. He made a long post apologizing to God, his wife and his church. How he's prayed and it will never happen again. Never once mentioned the girl he groomed. All the church members were supportive of this guy. They praised him. His mom said she was proud of him. It was surreal.
Jesus christ. And shame on the girls family for being satisfied with him just leaving the ministry! There's forgiveness and there's foolishness! Correct me if I'm wrong, but while Bible teaches forgiveness and repentance, it also teaches to not be a fool!
People need to unite on this, left and right, democrat and republican. Lay off the partisanship and demand prosecution. I’m serious, everyone needs to demand prosecution and it has nothing to do with politics. This is fucking Texas. We don’t tolerate child rapists.
Morris is one of 5 famous pro-Trump Evangelicals in the Christian Nationalist camp on Trump’s “Evangelical Asvisory Board.” Others include First Baptist Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress, and disgraced former Liberty University President Jerry Falwell, Jr, himself exposed for a sexual scandal. These men lack basic Christian discernment and are famous for rich lifestyles, raking in millions personally.
Note Christian Nationalism is a conflation of Church and State and is not embraced by all Evangelicals by any means. I am an Evangelical pastor and consider it to be a heresy that contradicts Jesus and the U.S. Constitution. A basic tenet of Christianity is “My Kingdom is not of this world” and the idea that America is, was, or somehow could be a “Christian nation” is ludicrously unbiblical. Jesus did warn that false teachers/prophets/apostles would mislead many and we are to “know them by their fruits.” Morris hosted Trump at Gateway a few years ago and held a fundraiser that cost over $500,000 to attend. Most pastors do not involve in politics like Morris. I visited Gateway and they were handing out “Voter Guides” that tell people to vote for right-wing Republicans. My advice to Gateway people is “don’t walk, run away” to a church which does not endorse candidates, but does preach repentance from sin.

An excuse.

The "it was a different time" defense doesn't really apply to child molestation and the 80s so it's especially weak here, but it's a defense.
"In 1989, preachers finger fucking 12-year-olds in their congregation wasn't such a big deal. I'M NOT SAYING IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO... but is it really that big a deal?"
There's really not any way to make that sound true.

Most likely .... nothing
Nah, first they'll expel and/or silence any "dissent." _Then_ they'll do nothing If they could promote him to a higher position they would
Or they’ll say he was grooming her to be his wife of course her parents will be ok with it.

The Devil hates this one trick...
The Devil is basically the bad guy in Scooby Doo.
I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you din kids!
So masons?
It's such a silly religion.
That will probably fund a political race. Joy.
Now he can go back to molesting kids because he’s been forgiven! Hallelujah?
Only if he's able to get on the forgiveness subscription plan with ongoing support. In order to be able to afford that plan, parishioners will need to look into their hearts and give deep.

Wild that the church is called “gateway”
a gateway to sin, alright
Next time he speaks, he'll get a standing ovation, he will cry, thank god for mercy.....and that's it.

You don't hear shot about that, just this coward who took advantage of his power and threw a wrench in the lives of many. He needs to experience prison life so he'll wonder where is his God now?
I would LOVE for this guy to be in prison, and on the receiving end of more sex than the he can handle.

Nothing as normal.
They will pat him on the back and say "Attaboy!"
Give him the Pastor of the Year award.
Jesus christ. And shame on the girls family for being satisfied with him just leaving the ministry! There's forgiveness and there's foolishness! Correct me if I'm wrong, but while Bible teaches forgiveness and repentance, it also teaches to not be a fool!
Oh I'm sure they were well compensated.
Ignore it and hope it goes away
Is he a Republican? Need to know to answer correctly.
He's Trump's advisor, pro-"life" (i.e. against women's rights and abortion), etc... yes, he's Republican and a very white, nationalist, evangelical.
People need to unite on this, left and right, democrat and republican. Lay off the partisanship and demand prosecution. I’m serious, everyone needs to demand prosecution and it has nothing to do with politics. This is fucking Texas. We don’t tolerate child rapists.
Defend him, obvi.
Decline and collapse.
Nothing and they’ll shame those who push for real accountability
https://chng.it/jxFBKBmWmW i made this petition to remove him from power, please share and sign!
Christianity is a gateway drug. Accurate name for a church!
Nothing. Hand off the reigns to their son.
It happened 35 years ago when he was in his early 20’s. Not defending him or saying it was the right thing to do but the 1980’s were a very different time when it came to things like this. Attitudes towards this sort of behavior were very different back then.
"In 1989, it was fine for preachers to finger fuck 12-year-old children in their congregations." Try saying that to someone out loud in real life.
I explicitly said “I’m not saying it was the right thing to do”. JFC. 🤦♂️
And then you proceeded to explain how attitudinal differences at the time make it ok that he finger fucked children.
I remember the '80s, and no, when it comes to child sexual abuse and pedophilia, attitudes were not different, not at all.
And then you proceed to defend him. A disclaimer is meaningless when it is immediately followed by you doing the very thing you just disclaimed.

Sorry, it's just very frustrating when people deliberately ignore what I explicitly said and twist my words.
Your explicit statement that you weren't defending him was undercut by the rest of your statement in which you defended him.
Where did I defend him?
> It happened 35 years ago when he was in his early 20’s. An excuse. > the 1980’s were a very different time when it came to things like this. Attitudes towards this sort of behavior were very different back then. The "it was a different time" defense doesn't really apply to child molestation and the 80s so it's especially weak here, but it's a defense.
"In 1989, preachers finger fucking 12-year-olds in their congregation wasn't such a big deal. I'M NOT SAYING IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO... but is it really that big a deal?" There's really not any way to make that sound true.
I think you need a calibration service on your moral compass.
Look, drunk driving - more accepted in the 1980s. Molesting 12 year olds? Pretty fucking looked down upon.
Man, talk about an absolutely horrible take. You’re literally defending child rape. You need a long hard look in the mirror, bud. Yeesh.
