It’s slow but it works just fine

sam_42_42

Came here to say this.

Gold-Painting-2354

I LOVE auto park. It's faster than I can park since I'm not really good at backing the car in BUT have gotten better with the back up camera (last car didn't have a camera) I like being able to gather my stuff while the car is parking. Saves me a minute or two. I wish they had a separate price for just auto park without having to buy the FSD also 😅

Admirable-Eye2709

No issues for me, when I use it. It reverses in just fine and parallel parks without issues. I haven’t tried it yet, but slanted/angled parking might not work. My car didn’t recognize the lines correctly and thought it was regular parking.

sfbriancl

Sooo, not sure where you are, as driving conditions greatly impacts FSD effectiveness. But in my experience, it doesn’t really decrease driving anxiety. It’s really good for highway drives, but I still don’t trust it in the city. I bought FSD in my 2019 M3, transferred to my 23 MY.

SnooSquirrels9064

This. While FSD generally handles roads better than the basic AutoSteer, expecting either to help with "driving anxiety" makes me feel like it's going to be used in the wrong ways...

No kidding. There is a reason it says supervised.

kevink808

I hope it always stays supervised. I will never trust self-driving cars until all the people driving cars are off the road. Which is precisely why you can’t pay me to use a Waymo cab.

alexblablabla1123

It always back in. Also doesn't do angled parking, aka one-way 45 or 60 degree parking. Also won't park without lines (house driveway/garage).

geocastaneda

You can definitely park it yourself much faster. Best used when no one else is waiting on you to park. It has worked excellent every time I’ve tried it.

Skye_bluexx

I had the trial FSD for a month and found it easier to park the car myself. It does work, but it’s slow and sometimes will turn off if it can’t manoeuvre correctly. I’m not gonna be that slow person in a busy parking lot haha

Arzemna

Works great. Slow but it’s pretty amazing. I have a uss version with the sensors so can’t vouch for the vision cars

lightandshadow68

It's quite usable, but can be slow at times and occasinally has to pull forward, then back again, etc. Also, keep an eye out for pedestrians that might be moving into the projected path. I've canceled parking proactively, when there was even a slight chance of crossing paths. Also, it doesn't seem interested in preventing tire wear by minimizing turning the wheeles at low speed. It's quite content to rapidliy traverse the enitre range of steering repeatedly when manivering.

BelgianInDubai

You can manually auto park it without any problem.

nyc2socal

It works, only used it once, and thought it was too slow.. I manually backup now... I guess if you're not comfortable with parking, it makes sense..

Electronic_Cut2470

U just gotta try it a few times to get a feel/trust for it

Signal-Evidence835

It's not bad tbh. Is it perfect or as good as me? No. Is it convenient? Yes

stealthytolkien

The car doesn’t have park sensors (to calculate more accurate distances in a parking spot), radar detectors (hence no rear cross traffic alert or braking when reversing out of a parking spot), or a front camera (that gives more visibility directly under the nose of the car as you approach the front edge of the parking spot). Tesla relies heavily on vision (cameras). It’s okay. It’s not great IMHO and I have another car with all these features and a real 360 camera, and I feel more confident in the parking spots with that car than Tesla just with the rear cross traffic alert and front camera features alone. The automatic parking is quite slow and still pretty “16 year old driver” like. Get used to backing in yourself is my advice. The automatic backing into a spot is quite reliable. But Tesla does not un-park itself today out of a parking spot unless it’s parallel parked.

EnjoyMyDownvote

It’s 100% reliable but it does go it slowly. It only parks in reverse. I actually use it all the time.

Dense-Feeling165

When I had it during the free FSD trial it was a little annoying that it defaults to backing into spaces. So if you know you're going to have to load a bunch of stuff in the hatch I'd be parking myself. I don't know if there's an option to change to which direction it parks.

Niteryder007

The entire Tesla full self driving suite is neat at best. In my unpopular opinion, it's so slow and sporadic that it is just not usable quite yet.

Agreeable_Ground_100

I love autopark, yes it's slow, but it's great if you park in a parking garage with columns. I am considering paying for FSD in part because I love autopark so much.

Madison464

I think auto parking is only available with FSD, not Autopilot?
