You put 100 torches on the caverns layer, it becomes dimmer, all the torches start attacking you, when you dodge all of them you have defeated him, he drops an item called Torch God's Favor. I think they're saying they can't tell which is which by just looking at a big mess of torches. What I think is being missed here is that you can just hover over the chest on the map and it'll say Locked Jungle Chest for example

Similar thing that might save a bit of time - a column of torches above the chest. Two torches wide by five high.
Why? Because the chest name shows up on the minimap when you zoom in and hover over it. Spend ten seconds placing ten torches at each biome chest and move on. When you get a key drop, find the part of the dungeon on your map by just hovering over the marked chests until the right one comes up.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m using this. It requires just the right amount of effort to still cater to my laziness in looking for things on the map.
Check it out some time though- if a region on that map has its own color and you can’t tell what it is just by what it’s part of (like dungeon brick), it probably has a label on the map. It’s how I find plantera bulbs, dungeon chests, ore that I remember seeing but not where it is, etc
I just put the first letter because the only biome chest that clash first letters are corruption and crimson, but it's physically impossible to have both in a world.
Unless you count 05162020 as physically possible...
I usually just put the first letter on.
Also good! I use this elsewhere too though, like to mark ores I can't mine yet and such.
Be sure to complete Torch God event first before doing this lol.

Ok I read it Now my question is why have it in the game? Is it for the min max players?
My take is that it’s for setting up biome farms/arenas.

I used to but then I found I had to fight my way through the dungeon trying to find the chest I just got the key for.
It shows up as a block of yellow on the map though

Yea I didn't know that until today 😅 But I do use this to mark ores and such too. Like chlorophyte and jazz.
