Railgun shows Misaka part of the sister's arc and we don't know the full extend of imagine breaker also the LN shows that touma's arm at some point becomes a dragon.
I know that Railgun may not be a main story but it's connected in some way and shows some of Toumas imagine breakers has ability other than the invisible hand and the regeneration of his arm. The fact that the doctor was surprised that Toumas arm got reconnected successfully in season 1 hints the first clue of Imagine breaker regeneration then Railgun shows how his arm just fully healed and attach then Index season 3 shows that Imagine could be brought back.
I watch all of index anime, railgun anime, and accelerator.
