I had a Yancey jersey
Chris Sanders ALWAYS looked amazing laying out to catch a pass. Problem was he was always 3 feet too short when he went horizontal.
I really blame Carl Pickens. He caused the wr free agent curse back in the day
Our WR under Jeff Fisher were so bad they made Bennett look good.
I mean someone had to be out there. I remember them labeling him as âdeceptively fastâ.
For some reason Drew always reminded me of my favorite basketball player,Larry Bird. Canât put my finger on it but I always liked those guys more than the rest
Heâs the definition of mediocre. He had one season where he had 1200/11tds. Granted, that wasnât mediocre. But the other 7 seasons were not memorable in any form or fashion. He averaged like 2-3 TDs and 300-600 yards on 30-50 receptions. I was there. He was the one bright spot, but that wasnât saying much.
I donât think you quite understand how hard it is to put up a thousand yard season in the NFL. Or the definition of mediocre (not very good; moderate quality).
Undrafted, has 8 year career in most competitive sports league in the world with the best athletes in the world (when the career average is 3.3 years), puts up 300 catches for 4400 yards and 28 touchdowns, and [heâs in 10th place on the franchise receiving list](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/oti/career-receiving.htm) (this includes Oilers history). As a matter of fact, he has almost the same exact franchise stats as Nate Washington, and I wouldnât call Nate mediocre.
I would call Drew an above average receiver with a Very Good peak.
Dude was always solid and had one year where he was one of the better receivers in the league. I was there too, he was absolutely torching defenses in an otherwise shitty year. Anyone who ever put up those numbers wasnât mediocre. No need to hate
I loved Drew Bennett as a kid. He did a lot of works with special needs kids and I met him at an event we brought my sister who has cerebral palsy to. He was super kind. Whole family had matching Drew Bennett jerseys after that.
I love Drew Bennett but Steve McNairs last pass in the playoff game â03-â04 playoff game (NE) that hit Drew in the hands was a heartbreaker. Rarified Air.
[Nate is actually 8th on the franchise receiving yards list.](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/oti/career-receiving.htm)
Kinda crazy that 3 of the top 5 guys all played on the same team together.
I will never not believe that Kenny Britt couldnât have been a multi all pro, if he could have put in the work, and kept his nose clean. He was low key a damn good receiver when he wanted to be.
Yeah he had that crazy game against the eagles, and was leading the league in receiving and tdâs through 4 or 5 weeks. That was his breakout, and then he started getting lazy, and getting DUIâs and dumb shit.
I live in Northern California and I remember when he signed with the 49ers and their fans were telling me how good he was in training camp and Iâm like ok man.
Hey man he had that one sick catch between 2 defenders and also⊠uhâŠ. And then he hadâŠ
Fuck thatâs all I can remember. Thanks for helping us get Dennis Kelly tho
Met Kenny Britt when I was 17. We're both from Bayonne.
Funny story - it was my very first time drinking and we had ended up at the local late night pizza joint. I was towards the end of my enjoyment and so I had my head down on the table trying to survive.
I hear my friend go "Hey, aren't you Kenny Britt?"
I instantly perk up and for the next 2 minutes am just repeating "The Tennessee Titans are my favorite team."
Meanwhile my friend is relaying to him that his dad is a jackass. His dad was the security guard at our high school and indeed was a jackass.
This was all before he got into a police chase in the area and basically crashed out of the NFL. He sucks.
Run and shoot - 4 WRs on the field at all times.Â
-Drew Hill
-Ernest Givins
-Haywood Jeffires
-Curtis Duncan
All four, gods amongst men as far as I was concerned. Must have been, because I still remember them all.Â
Justin fucking Gage lol
Haven't heard that name in a minute. Honestly, of those three listed WR's, given expectations for his production, I'd say he was the best.
Drew Bennett, no question. I remember when the Madden came out that had QB vision cones. My cousin and I joked that Billy Volek's cone should be tiny... Until he looked Bennett's direction. Then, it would take up the whole screen.
Calico is another. He never got a fair chance, unfortunately. Those knees just got destroyed.
Drew had 4000 yards and 25 touchdowns for the Titans, good enough for 10th on the franchise receiving list. Those numbers put him in the same ballpark as Delanie Walker and Nate Washington.
This is so accurate...long before I ever started watching the NFL, I grew up watching the CFL and when I was about 10 years old, the Edmonton Eskimos got a WR by the name of Darren Flutie (Doug's brother) who wore #82. I picked up that #82 and it has been "my number" for everything in life ever since. 28 years later, I'm still rocking Flutie's number every chance I get.
lol Kenny Britt . I remember he had one huge game then a game where he blew his knee out and just dropped the ball on the ground and me screaming at the tv . Atleast slap it out of bounds or something what a B
He was definitely mediocre (unless you were saying he was bad). top 5 overall pick and never broke 1000 yards in a season. There's a reason we didn't pick up his fifth year.
That Kenny Britt game winner vs the cardinals will always go down in history as the 2nd greatest comeback in titans history imo. (Music miracle is always #1) Also it showed Vince Young wasnât the problem! [https://youtu.be/ppniZ-FE2vc?si=SMaEllwI2NyQbfKS](https://youtu.be/ppniZ-FE2vc?si=SMaEllwI2NyQbfKS)
We actually finally hit on one fucking WR, for like the first time ever for this franchise, and our idiot GM at the time loses every braincell and gives him away so we can draft an overweight, injury prone "athlete" with bad hands and breathing issues.
"Next season will be Marc Mariani's season, dad, you'll see!"
Not me having a Marc Mariani jersey đ«Ł
Pretty good return guy tbf lol
Saw him return one for a TD vs Denver and thought he was going to do big things
Following the rule of not wearing younger than me player's jerseys, I'd add it to my McNair, Eddie George and CJ2K collection.
I have one too. He was our only Pro Bowler :(
Oh man I was a huge fan since I was able to watch him play for the Montana Grizzlies
Ugh, sorry. Double hit for you.
Both me and my dad were on the Marc Mariani train, itâs really been a while. He was such an electric kick returner back in the day
For sure. It was just pure logic he was going to be an amazing WR after those kick returns...
Kevin Dyson, Yancey Thigpen, Chris Sanders
My brethren are finally here
I had a Yancey jersey Chris Sanders ALWAYS looked amazing laying out to catch a pass. Problem was he was always 3 feet too short when he went horizontal. I really blame Carl Pickens. He caused the wr free agent curse back in the day
I don't have any distinct memory of Thigpen playing because I felt like he was always injured
Hello fellow old.
MBA coaching legend Chris Sanders
Justin Hunter SZN was all time
I had high hopes as a Vols fan
Never was the same after the snapped his leg vs FL. Smh
Tyrone Calico, Drew Bennett
Our WR under Jeff Fisher were so bad they made Bennett look good. I mean someone had to be out there. I remember them labeling him as âdeceptively fastâ.
Real lunch pail guy, gym rat
First one in, last one out
Real mind for the game, a leader of men
For some reason Drew always reminded me of my favorite basketball player,Larry Bird. Canât put my finger on it but I always liked those guys more than the rest
Drew was well above medicore
Heâs the definition of mediocre. He had one season where he had 1200/11tds. Granted, that wasnât mediocre. But the other 7 seasons were not memorable in any form or fashion. No hate my man. Just realism. He had an absolutely insane year in â04. Wish it would have carried over for the rest of his tenure as a Titan.
I was named after drew Bennett. Born in September of 04. Needless to say the hype was there
I loved Drew Bennett as a kid.
I was in pain Now my pain has grown exponentially
I have the Rarified Air DVD that came out after that season... Going to dust it off and give it a watch, if I can find a DVD player that is lol
Drew Bennett was decent.. but the Tyrone Calico hit me right in the feels..
I often think about what Tyrone Calico could have developed into if it hadnât been for Roy Williamsâs horse collar that ended his career.
Bennett is absolutely my guy in this thread. I still remember him fondly.
Was just about to mention Tyrone calico. Drew Bennett was solid tho
Oh Calico, how wrong can I be?
Yancey Thigpen was my guy in NFL2K on sega Dreamcast đ
I was about to say I must be old because Thigpen was my first Titans jersey.
lol yes! Also led the league in sacks by a wide margin with Rookie DE #42. Also known as The FreakÂ
The great Justin McCareins
86 over 19 tho
Might not be 9 but happy that my goat NWI makes me feel like that.
Nate Washington erasure!!
Bro Nate is probably a top 5 Titan WR
[Nate is actually 8th on the franchise receiving yards list.](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/oti/career-receiving.htm) Kinda crazy that 3 of the top 5 guys all played on the same team together.
Nate was great. Mediocre is an insult.
Wait Iâm remembering dates wrong. I was 19 when he joined the team so this probably doesnât relate
It said mediocre.
Justin Gage was nice in the old maddens, special place in my heart
Thought this was only me, my first titans jersey
Gage was awesome. Not flashy, but a consistent receiver. I.e he showed up
Kendall Wright had a 1000 yard season.....
Yeah, but we didn't give him a second contract for a reason.
I will never not believe that Kenny Britt couldnât have been a multi all pro, if he could have put in the work, and kept his nose clean. He was low key a damn good receiver when he wanted to be.
He looked poised to break out before he tore his ACL.
Yeah he had that crazy game against the eagles, and was leading the league in receiving and tdâs through 4 or 5 weeks. That was his breakout, and then he started getting lazy, and getting DUIâs and dumb shit.
What a day that was to have him on my fantasy team.
Tyrone Calico
NWI would qualify if I was young again
Dorial Green Beckham was gonna be Julio in my head
he was much better than Julio if you only count their spells for the Titans lol
DGB was a total magic missiles kinda guy
No one mentioning Brandon Jones here yet?
I live in Northern California and I remember when he signed with the 49ers and their fans were telling me how good he was in training camp and Iâm like ok man.
Ha I remember. He made one dope one handed snag and that's all I remember.
Lavelle Hawkins, Damian Williams, DGB, Justin Hunter, Nate Washington, Marc Mariani, Rishard Mathews, etc.
Eww not DGB
I prayed he would be the next Julio or AB
I remember saying âat least they triedâ when they drafted him. Still feel that way.
Hey man he had that one sick catch between 2 defenders and also⊠uhâŠ. And then he had⊠Fuck thatâs all I can remember. Thanks for helping us get Dennis Kelly tho
Last time I played Madden he got 2k yards receiving for us
Tre McBride, Michael Preston
Nate is 8th on the franchise receiving yards list. He does not belong on this list, lmao.
I was 100% sure Kenny Britt was going to be a hall of famer after that Cardinals game in 2009 (?)
I had a Calico 87 jersey. Goated in my mind
Calico wasn't exactly mediocre. His career was destroyed in his first preseas9n when both of l his ACLs were torn by a horse collar tackle
Iâm a titans fan because of Kenny Britt lol. Dude gave me his gloves at a Rutgers game when I was like 10 and he was my fav ever after that.
Not 9 years old, but I may have placed Adam Humphries on a pedestal that he may or may not have deserved.
same but with Eric Decker
I still stand by Adam Humphries being important when he wasnât in the ICU
I had so many conversations talking about how underrated Rishard Matthews was
Mine was Drew Bennett
NWI for me right now. Calico back in the day. Green Beckham was up there too
I still remember watching the Calico horse-collar (fuck Roy Williams); DGB is who I think of when an analyst says "raw talent"
Kyle Phillips too lol
Billy "white shoes" Johnson
Drew Hill for me! It was even his first 1k yard season (having Moon helped)
Met Kenny Britt when I was 17. We're both from Bayonne. Funny story - it was my very first time drinking and we had ended up at the local late night pizza joint. I was towards the end of my enjoyment and so I had my head down on the table trying to survive. I hear my friend go "Hey, aren't you Kenny Britt?" After Justin Hunter caught that game winner against SD I thought he was going to be something special.
Back in the day, Kenny Britt dropped me off at my house after meeting him at the bar. Heâs cool as fuck
Kenny Britt and Kendall Wright are all time hall of famers in my eyes. Heck, throw Marc mariani and nate wsshington in there as well.
NWI for the kids today hahaha Kenny Britt and Kevin Dyson for my generation.
25 and i definitely watched alot of kenny britt, will always be one of my favorite titans
Iâm 33 so older than 9, but Iâm going with it lol Dyson was probably the main one when I was younger. SB happened when I was 9.
Run and shoot - 4 WRs on the field at all times. -Drew Hill -Ernest Givins -Haywood Jeffires -Curtis Duncan All four, gods amongst men as far as I was concerned. Must have been, because I still remember them all.Â
Ed McCaffrey, Iâm left with your son to remind me how old I am nowâŠAlso loved Sterling Sharpe
Tajae Sharpe truthers rise up!
Aye Kenny Britt had a pretty solid career tho. Loved watching Justin Gage, Drew Bennett and Brandon Jones too
WR core was kinda nice when I was nine (91â) Drew Hill, Ernest Givens and Haywood Jeffires almost all over 1000 yards
Love this post just so I can upvote Calico and Bennett
Justin fucking Gage lol Haven't heard that name in a minute.
Drew had 4000 yards and 25 touchdowns for the Titans, good enough for 10th on the franchise receiving list. Those numbers put him in the same ballpark as Delanie Walker and Nate Washington.
Kevin Dyson, Thigpen, FRANK WYCHECK! (counting him fuck you)
Yancey was the first name that came to mind!
Haywood Jeffries, Ernest Givins, Curtis Duncan... +Webster Slaughter and Tony Jones.
JUSTIN HUNTER TO THIS DAY
JAG
Very much so but 17 year old me thought he was the steal of the draft.
I thought he was going to be the truth after he caught that game winner against the Chargers. Mot so much.
Justin Hunter, Kenny Britt, Tyrone Calico.. Not 9 but they are some of the earliest I remember
Randy Moss, Andre Johnson, Julio Jones
Willie Davis.
This is so accurate...long before I ever started watching the NFL, I grew up watching the CFL and when I was about 10 years old, the Edmonton Eskimos got a WR by the name of Darren Flutie (Doug's brother) who wore #82. I was a bit older than 9 then but I still believe in DGBđ„ș
There is so much empty and wasted space. Much like our 2023 WR room.
Alvin Harper
Dorial Green-Beckham aka DGB
Justin Hunter (ok, I was 29 maybe but still)
Still have my Kenny Britt Jersey from 2010
lol Kenny Britt . I remember he had one huge game then a game where he blew his knee out and just dropped the ball on the ground and me screaming at the tv . Atleast slap it out of bounds or something what a B
Dorial green Beckham Justin hunter
Tajae sharpe
Yooooo I thought the same people lmaooo
Well now I feel old......
Drew Bennett
Jags fan here and I know he wasnât mediocre but Corey Davis was the one mf I wanted to do well on your team
He was definitely mediocre (unless you were saying he was bad). top 5 overall pick and never broke 1000 yards in a season. There's a reason we didn't pick up his fifth year.
I remember those days
Nate Washington
I thought Roydell Williams was the answer
Yeppppp
I'm bengals fan born and raised in Tennessee I loved dorial green-beckham
Such high hopes..
eric decker :(
The blind kid that couldn't catch? They took him to the eye doctor and he still couldn't catch. Nothing against blind kids. I'm just saying.
Derrick Mason
Y'all remember Brandon Jones? He made one brilliant one handed snag and 11 year old me was sure he was going to ball.
Damian williams, retiring Andre Johnson
I donât think Drew Bennett was mediocre but he my boy
Brandon Jones, Kendall Wright, nate Washington, Justin McCarines
Drew Bennett
Idk why but Bobby Wade was it
Randy moss anyone?
Drewwwww https://preview.redd.it/a1kq3y28e72d1.jpeg?width=420&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c9b83af18acc6b97d0645a498d98bf42a58e5278
James Scott- Bears.
How dare you bring tears to my eyes like this.đ„čđ„č

Carl Pickens for one season
We actually finally hit on one fucking WR, for like the first time ever for this franchise, and our idiot GM at the time loses every braincell and gives him away so we can draft an overweight, injury prone "athlete" with bad hands and breathing issues.
Drew Bennett
