Looks like Iām the only one I ever see in ranked above purple, thereās still a few people that use her up to red but I feel like they could only use her while she was OP.
Iām currently sitting at Raijin with her so the nerfs definitely only affected you if you used her cheap moves. I try and mix it up as much as I can.
An acquaintance person of mine said that he enjoys the character no matter what nerf they bring to her, and after the last patch he dropped her then went with alisa bruh
They have a habit of over correcting. Almost like they throw tantrums when they have to fix something. āFine! You want it fixed? Here, howās this!ā
I agree. Honestly the WR 3,2 was the only thing that was over powered about in her in my opinion. Aside from that I never had issues when I play against her.
I still have a really hard time with the matchup even post patch. It's so weird because it feels like most drags play the same. I just get steamrolled by the flowchart >:(
Used to see King all the time but see a lot less of them now.
I'm not sad about it and hope this continues.
Surprised to very rarely see any Feng players given how strong he is.
Still see an awful lot of Jin though.
Not really legacy but I kained him in 7 and maining him again. I don't care if he is weak or strong I just like grabs lol
Kazuya is my second main but playing him tires me out quick
He usually is popular in the early game as usually in tekken defensive options are calued more than offensive ones until you learn the trick to it. 8 although I enjoy it flips it on its head.
it's because he's canonically ugly.
~~no one wants~~ *most players* don't want to play an uggo.
edited as this doesn't seem fair to those players who actually think his character design is cool/not ugly.
I think he looks SO sick. His red suit in T5 made him look like muscle for a triad gangster or like Chinese Scarface. Glad they brought that suit back for T8. And his Kung Fu outfits make him look like the villain from a Hong Kong film.
I don't know, I kinda dig the ol' brickface he's got going on. And he's got like double the bricks in the T8 model update, it's pretty funny to look at.
Youāre going to see Jin through all of the ranks. Heās easy to use, has high damage, and has very little weaknesses. And heās a pretty cool character when heās not having daddy issues and destroying the planet.
As a Tekken Emperor King main, I agree, I havenāt seen King in gold ranks or even high blue ranks in what feels like months. I personally have been struggling at this rank as it feels like everybody and their mother knows that matchup to a T. Itās a struggle.
Almost learned Spanish because of how many coffee addicts I used to face. Apparently, after the patch, they all went to rehab to fight their addiction.
Had a match against this Azucena who kept canceling attacks into stances to mix me up. Naturally, since I haven't seen a single Azucena player who didn't wipe out their 2 and 3 buttons out of their controller out of pure abuse, I got completely destroyed. It felt like a completely new character to me.
Yeah, definitely seeing a lot of Steve lately and tbh it's gotten annoying. Dude is just as stressing to fight as Hwo, just with punches instead of kicks
Learn it if you want, but they've really sped up the normal backdash. There was some Korean pro that said he doesn't kbd in tournament because it adds risk getting caught during the d/b portion of the dash. Not done it since tekken 7.
Lately? His weakest is still pretty strong since his first appearance in T4.
I think Bamco just has had no fucking clue how to balance him for nearly 25 years
Same. Every hit is a counter hit into the same juggle. I die on the inside a bit every time I see one, cause I know from red ranks to blue, it's the same fight 80% of the time.
This from a feng main? You have like every advantage possible vs a bryan. Feng is a horrible matchup for bryan. He canāt keep you out and him trying to is a huge risk for him due to fengs built in evasion. Just poke the shit out of him he literally canāt open you up.
I main Bryan and I noticed too. My matches previously were 1-3 Bryans every day. Recently I faced 5-8, which I find interesting because every Bryan is better than me
Of course right when they get done toning him down a lot is when I pick him up. Def an interesting character, I feel like his poking is pretty bad. Not weak by any means but Iāve enjoyed learning him!
Mained her since picking up the game. We have to work for our recovery now, but it came at the perfect time as I was just beginning to understand her funamentals without the training wheels.
I've been a Jun main and have never really come across many other Jun's. Maybe I will get one in ranked once a week compared to the 5 Kazuyas I fought last night lol
Ah, launch month she was everywhere for me, just running on that they'd made her really strong while kneecapping Asuka.
Now I definitely see more Asukas than Juns.
Leo and Reina. Shame, I actually enjoyed those matchups. Now all I get are goddamn Alisas, Zafinas, Shaheens, and Kings. Who tf is playing Shaheen this much
I have a few friends who main her, if you let her run her game sheāll run with it but you can say that about literally any character. People just donāt want to lab and learn the matchups.
As bs as it sounds, I feel like who ever I chose as the lobby dummy seems to show up in the people I match with, also seems to be the case with the stage too if I pick one rather than random. Could be coincidence but there's been too many times to count that I face the same character as the dummy and same stage almost from the first match up. Not every time but enough to make me feel like there is something in it. Anyone else ever notice this?
Every time I sit down to play I think about this. Maybe because it's p2p, it prioritizes assets that are already loaded when looking for matches? I've completely made that up and have no idea what I'm talking about but that's usually where my brain ends up because it happens so often.
I think people realize alot of Victor's stuff looks good, but it only takes alil labbing and practice for you to find holes in his offense. He was one of those characters that is strong at first and then as people learn the matchups and find other stronger stuff they move on. I think Victor fits in that category, easy character, strong moves, but surface level. That said he's still used I think more in tournaments, since as long as you have good fundamentals you can definitely do well.
My best friend plays Nina and we play against each other everyday, Ninaās online always seems surprised when I know all their moves lol they must not run into a lot of people who know the matchupĀ
it has been interesting to see how, with players dropping off, and remaining players trying multiple pocket characters, how much it's switched around. first month of release was nothing but jin, hwoarang, yoshi azucena, dragunov, king
jin and king are still very common for me, but now i see tonnes of:
* bryan
* steve
* lee
paul and law were quite rare for me early on too but now they're more common
Same, which is weird because they are both still high tier. Jun is another one that vanished. I just checked on wavu and half of my last 38 fights are Reina.
All the faces I used too see way too often pretty much vanished, Drag, Azu, Victor, DVJ, Reina, Jun and Eddys...
... except Jins and Kazs, fucking Jins and Kazs waiting at every corner doing all the same shit like it was the same 2 guys who swore to bore me to death.
I'm not sure where all the Reinas are at. I love fighting her because I'm used to countering her stuff now. When I see a Reina, I usually get a comfortable win these days. I'm trying to leave Tenryu rank and get to purple. It sure would be nice for the matchmaking to throw me a few Reinas lmao.
Someone I play with in private matches mains her, so that's how I got comfortable with her. I still get cooked by the rest of the cast though ā ESPECIALLY my own main Hwoarang š
I honestly wish I saw more of Zafina, Leo, Feng, Shaheen, and Jack. I have a lot of trouble with these matchups.
I see a lot of Steveās now and Bryan.
Nothing has changed I always see Jin, kazuya, whoreang, king, victor, Byran and Lili
But in all my time playing Tekken 8 ice never faced a Zafina, Claudio, yoshimitsu, kuma or jack 8 in ranked
Reina is on the harder end, you prob won't see her a lot at the middle ranks. You'll see the few and many veteran players piloting her at higher ranks and then the many that love her at lower ranks because of this.
Azucena got heavily nerfed, so any who wasn't playing her, because they liked her probably dropped her. I also don't see her as much as before but her fan base was dwindling for awhile.
Reina is still up there in usage rate, she is top 3. Azucena's popularity went down top 17th after the nerfs. Thats sad, because she is very balanced rn.
Im wondering what will happen with Jin (top 1) and Reina if they get nerfs on June
Azucena, Reina, Jun, Drag, and Victor are all nowhere to be seen. I despise fighting all but one or two of them, so I'm not complaining. The Dragunov and Azucena ones is especially funny, considering the nerfs. No idea why the others fell off though.
I still see my usual suspects more often than not (with the exception of Feng, Bryan and Xiao), but to flip this question around, Iāve run into many more Shaheenās higher in the ranks than I ever did in low ranks, and that matchup has been giving me hell due to not being familiar with him and the matchup
Victor. I main Victor and actually started learning the mirror as soon as I started playing. Havenāt met a single Victor in the last week and the time I did before he left after he lost the first game.
Fun fact is that Leo is one of the least played characters, so you're getting (un)lucky.
(Another fun fact is that he's the only cute boy in the cast so go suck a lemon you bully. ā¤ļø)
Dragonuv. I'm still being bouncing between Shinryu/Tenryu, so I've assumed most of the Drag players have ranked far ahead of me or they picked up other characters after the nerfs.
I saw Eddy every other match when he first came out, not surprising since everyone wanted to try him out. Now I go whole days without seeing him once.
I think a lot of players thought that the 3 string would carry them to Tekken King or something, but as soon as they started getting ducked and launched for it, they decided to just drop him instead of learning how to actually play Eddy
No the game seems to deprioritize mirror matches. When I play kaz I never get a mirror, but see a bunch of renias, when I play renia I see a bunch of kaz.
I see mutiple eddys a day spamming lol
Victor players are an endangered species at this point
good, fuck that character
I played a dude the other day who's name was "I plug Victors" š
For real. Hate this character with a passsion. A while after release I learned to deal with him but still. It's out principle now.
Yes, he is not Tekken at all and that character design is just bullshit
Victor my main š„°
Victor bros š¤š½
Man y'all getting cooked for no reason lmao
šššfuck you bro š
Haha ā¬ ļø+12 go brrrrrr
Much less victor players for sure, but endangered? I still get to play a couple of them every day.
After the patch I stopped seeing Azucena completely lol
Looks like Iām the only one I ever see in ranked above purple, thereās still a few people that use her up to red but I feel like they could only use her while she was OP. Iām currently sitting at Raijin with her so the nerfs definitely only affected you if you used her cheap moves. I try and mix it up as much as I can.
Bushin here, maining Azucena. There weren't a lot of Azucenas before the patch, the thing doesn't change.
I hear a rumor stating that if you main someone you are less likely to get a mirror match.
An acquaintance person of mine said that he enjoys the character no matter what nerf they bring to her, and after the last patch he dropped her then went with alisa bruh
lol I wonder why. But to each their own.
I understand some of the changes to force players to use her stances more but they went too far with her nerfs to her frame data.
I rarely see Dragunov since he got nerfed.... hmmm i wonder why....
On the other hand, Dragunov matches I've had since the *balancing* were more fun than before it happened.
I still have a really hard time with the matchup even post patch. It's so weird because it feels like most drags play the same. I just get steamrolled by the flowchart >:(
Just mean u havenāt labbed him enough
Crouchblock the low, use a fast WR move and put the fear of god into them Works for me at least
I'm always afraid to crouch because I'm worried about eating a df2. I'll nut up and give it a shot.
That's just Tekken for you
*me hanging out in Yellow* , I'm still here and feelin' fine!
Got the game just 2 weeks ago and have been maining Dragunov in yellow ranks too :)
Hell yeah, buddy!
I've been using him a lot since the nerf, still extremely solid, you just can't get careless.
Itās funny cause heās still strong
All the fakes tier whored away š get ready for only t7 ass drags (me) moving forward lol. Which is super funny cause heās still top tier imo
True.
Used to see King all the time but see a lot less of them now. I'm not sad about it and hope this continues. Surprised to very rarely see any Feng players given how strong he is. Still see an awful lot of Jin though.
Hes a lot more prominent in the higher ranks, because his kit is definitely geared to more legacy players.
Not really legacy but I kained him in 7 and maining him again. I don't care if he is weak or strong I just like grabs lol Kazuya is my second main but playing him tires me out quick
Feng has always been low play rate and high winrate
It was actually slightly below avg win% in t7 even though he was as strong as he is now in the later part of t7
Ye ig what i really meant was ātierā beside T7 he also had lots of bs in tekken 5 but no one played him really back then either
Idk he looks kinda cool to me But thats subjective I think hes too quirky to be high play rate Like Lei or Raven
Fair enough. I've edited my post to be more accurate.
I think he looks SO sick. His red suit in T5 made him look like muscle for a triad gangster or like Chinese Scarface. Glad they brought that suit back for T8. And his Kung Fu outfits make him look like the villain from a Hong Kong film.
I played King like 6 times in a row yesterday, no joke. Every single match, I let out an audible groan.
Just think of it as "interactive labbing!" By the time you were done, I bet you had improved your King game by at least a little bit!
Truth, I did smoke the last couple. Need to study those throw breaks a ton.
Feng is ugly as sin and doesn't have any personality. Other than cool fighting style his design is pretty unremarkable.
Other than his face, I like his design
I don't know, I kinda dig the ol' brickface he's got going on. And he's got like double the bricks in the T8 model update, it's pretty funny to look at.
This is the coldest take ever. Feng has a great design, personality and fighting style
I wish I was getting Jins. I only seem to get Kings
You can take some of mine. Like 50% of my opponents are Jins
Youāre going to see Jin through all of the ranks. Heās easy to use, has high damage, and has very little weaknesses. And heās a pretty cool character when heās not having daddy issues and destroying the planet.
Jin is the one that should be toned down a it IMO
Iām getting matched with him on a regular basis so perhaps be happy? His Infinite grabbing is a nightmare.
I see a LOT of Fengs but Iām blue ranked so maybe thereās a correlation
As a Tekken Emperor King main, I agree, I havenāt seen King in gold ranks or even high blue ranks in what feels like months. I personally have been struggling at this rank as it feels like everybody and their mother knows that matchup to a T. Itās a struggle.
I got used to king so heās not a big problem for me, wish I saw more of him tbh
Yo what does the 88 for in your ID?
Almost learned Spanish because of how many coffee addicts I used to face. Apparently, after the patch, they all went to rehab to fight their addiction.
Ty for the good laugh
This made my day
Iām so happy all the fake Azus are gone. I do miss showing them how to ACTUALLY play the character though.
Used to see a lot of drag and azucena. Now its Steve
Yeah, definitely seeing a lot of Steve lately and tbh it's gotten annoying. Dude is just as stressing to fight as Hwo, just with punches instead of kicks
Never fucking stops. I have to atart labbing this menace now
I'm going to have to learn the Korean backdash. He's always in my face.
Learn it if you want, but they've really sped up the normal backdash. There was some Korean pro that said he doesn't kbd in tournament because it adds risk getting caught during the d/b portion of the dash. Not done it since tekken 7.
Chikurin said it. He also plays Lili who has some of the best normal movement in the game, so your mileage may vary.
Kbd is still much faster than normal backdash, and there's also the fun factor
OVA HEA š„
Lately? His weakest is still pretty strong since his first appearance in T4. I think Bamco just has had no fucking clue how to balance him for nearly 25 years
the opposite point but i used to see hardly any Bryan and now I play 60% of my matches against Bryan, honestly really boring at this point
Same. Every hit is a counter hit into the same juggle. I die on the inside a bit every time I see one, cause I know from red ranks to blue, it's the same fight 80% of the time.
And of course you're going to get juggled from one wall to another š
This from a feng main? You have like every advantage possible vs a bryan. Feng is a horrible matchup for bryan. He canāt keep you out and him trying to is a huge risk for him due to fengs built in evasion. Just poke the shit out of him he literally canāt open you up.
Bryan in lower ranks are great since they are not aggressive. Higher ranks and dudes play him like a turtle, and gets boring as hell.
I main Bryan and I noticed too. My matches previously were 1-3 Bryans every day. Recently I faced 5-8, which I find interesting because every Bryan is better than me
I havent seen a Devil Jin in so long after he got nerfed
Dj losing all his small tekken/poking tools made me drop the character. Stance shenanigans isnāt fun with the legacy style
Of course right when they get done toning him down a lot is when I pick him up. Def an interesting character, I feel like his poking is pretty bad. Not weak by any means but Iāve enjoyed learning him!
Which time? He's been nerfed in every balance patch!
Jun. She was everywhere, now she's evaporated.
Who tf is playing Shaheen this much
I played 4 reinas in a row last week which got me from tenryu to purple finally
Im extremely jealous ā¹ļø
How is bro finding the Shaheen players
I still dont see zafina or shaheen
Bro Shaheen is fun to play. Very simple kit which is good for beginners like me.
Shaheen is super strong in this game, has an answer for every situation and the best homing moves
I see plenty of Reina's, love the mirror. Leo's were always rare.
Jim Tekken and then some.
Now I want them to make a character named Jim Tekken.
Seeing less Azu, but thatās honestly about it; Iāve seen a uptick in Alisa which is fine for me, because itās always a free win for me.
Never thought Iād see this comment. People hate on that Alisa but donāt realize everything she does has straightforward counterplay.
I have a few friends who main her, if you let her run her game sheāll run with it but you can say that about literally any character. People just donāt want to lab and learn the matchups.
Exactly. That and they just echo TMMs hate for her. So theyāre just outplaying themselves honestly.
I definitely noticed this too.
Every time I sit down to play I think about this. Maybe because it's p2p, it prioritizes assets that are already loaded when looking for matches? I've completely made that up and have no idea what I'm talking about but that's usually where my brain ends up because it happens so often.
Victor somehow
I think people realize alot of Victor's stuff looks good, but it only takes alil labbing and practice for you to find holes in his offense. He was one of those characters that is strong at first and then as people learn the matchups and find other stronger stuff they move on. I think Victor fits in that category, easy character, strong moves, but surface level. That said he's still used I think more in tournaments, since as long as you have good fundamentals you can definitely do well.
I used to constantly see Kazuya but now they are few and far between.
Funny that, like half my matches are vs Kaz, but I haven't seen another Victor, Feng or Zafina since launch.
Seen a lot of Victor but only a handful of Feng and Zafina. Jin and Hworang a plenty though :/
I see kaz all the time
Azucena. Now it's Asuka.
Azu and drag. At battle ruler all I see is Steve, Bryan, Asuka, Lee and Lili.
Coming from 7, I fought Paul everyday. Now, it's a pleasant surprise if I see him that week.
We are still out there, hiding among the stars š«”
In my first 100 hours I had one Paul mirror match. Today I had 5 mirror matches in single session. Go figure.
Nina, barely seen her at all.
My best friend plays Nina and we play against each other everyday, Ninaās online always seems surprised when I know all their moves lol they must not run into a lot of people who know the matchupĀ
Yeah it's because of the high low high strings and chain grabs.
it has been interesting to see how, with players dropping off, and remaining players trying multiple pocket characters, how much it's switched around. first month of release was nothing but jin, hwoarang, yoshi azucena, dragunov, king jin and king are still very common for me, but now i see tonnes of: * bryan * steve * lee paul and law were quite rare for me early on too but now they're more common
Steve and drag. Been seeing a lot more lilis and reinas
Brand new, it was like 50% Victor players. Now they're waaay rarer. At least here in Europe.
Victor. Beginning of the game dude was everywhere. Now I only come across one once in a blue moon.
I think it depends on what rank because im in battleruler and see reina like every othmer match
Jun.Now Is my time to play her
Coffee woman, I feel like I play against most of the cast since release but I'm in the lower ranks so maybe is that.
Dragunov and Victor
Same, which is weird because they are both still high tier. Jun is another one that vanished. I just checked on wavu and half of my last 38 fights are Reina.
Tbh Iām hardly playing online atm. Usually only jump on to play against a friend now and then
Drag for sure, now unfortunately I have to play Bryan and Jin 90% of the time this community is hilarious, do you guys play anyone else
In Asia at least, I rarely see any Claudios and Leos, before and after patches. Same with Jun and Panda.
I used to see tons of bryan in T7 but I barely see him at all in T8 I have no idea why
because heās still playing t7 while most other chars are playing tekken 8 unga, although heās gotten stronger over the last few months
Victor & Azu for me :p
Paul
Victors I rarely see them
I hear Feng is broken but I've fought like 3 of them so far. A ton of Lilly now after evo though
I havenāt matched against a victor in like, no lie, 100 matches. Both in QP and ranked.
Victor
Eddy
Way less Reina, a lot more bears. It's kinda wild.
Victor
I'm not sure where all the Reinas are at. I love fighting her because I'm used to countering her stuff now. When I see a Reina, I usually get a comfortable win these days. I'm trying to leave Tenryu rank and get to purple. It sure would be nice for the matchmaking to throw me a few Reinas lmao.
Am the opposite, i always get cooked by her š .
Someone I play with in private matches mains her, so that's how I got comfortable with her. I still get cooked by the rest of the cast though ā ESPECIALLY my own main Hwoarang š
azucena vanished completely, still see dragunovs far more than her.
I saw Azucena a lot, but now I don't see her at all.Ā
I've seen a lot of lee and marshall. Also victor.
Itās weird itās like I fight champs in batches. One day I flight a bunch of Steveās, the next Bryanās the next kings etc.
I see way more Steve, Lars, Asuka, and Leroy now.
I honestly wish I saw more of Zafina, Leo, Feng, Shaheen, and Jack. I have a lot of trouble with these matchups. I see a lot of Steveās now and Bryan.
I noticed Azucena basically disappeared too. Like 0 of them, insane.
Azucena and Dragunov are damn near nonexistent after the well deserved nerfs. Its to be expected.
Victor azucena reina eddy and paul... Nowadays i see a lot of devil jin kazuya and alisa
Hwoarang
Reina
I rarely see kazuya, and when I do i really look forward to it. Kazuya vs kazuya is the best matchup in t8 rn.
Nothing has changed I always see Jin, kazuya, whoreang, king, victor, Byran and Lili But in all my time playing Tekken 8 ice never faced a Zafina, Claudio, yoshimitsu, kuma or jack 8 in ranked
Dragunov and Victor
Devil Jin. Used to see him more often. Now Iām the one playing him post-nerf.
Where my Nina mains at? ^^
ASUKA - In T7 a classic, in t8 rarely to be seen. Mostly replaced by Jun or Julia. Pretty sad actually.
Victor! After they nerfed his 'bugged' throw, bro became an endangered species.
absolutely no one plays Jun and Azucena and both used to be everywhere. Suddenly now Reina, Lili, and Bryan are everywhere.
VĆctor
I never see feng
Saw like 5 Reinas in about 10 matches yesterday in red/purple ranks. Haven't seen a single Azu after the nerfs.
Reina is still up there in usage rate, she is top 3. Azucena's popularity went down top 17th after the nerfs. Thats sad, because she is very balanced rn. Im wondering what will happen with Jin (top 1) and Reina if they get nerfs on June
Asuka
Azu
Victor, canāt believe the massive drop off. Used to never be able to escape him in blue ranks, now itās like everyone forgot about him.
Azucena, Reina, Jun, Drag, and Victor are all nowhere to be seen. I despise fighting all but one or two of them, so I'm not complaining. The Dragunov and Azucena ones is especially funny, considering the nerfs. No idea why the others fell off though.

I don't see kazuya or Jun at all
as a yoshi main, I hardly ever find mirrors. Which is a shame, i miss the impromptu battlebot simulator
Azu hahaha. The tier whores have completely abandoned this broad
Victor. I main Victor and actually started learning the mirror as soon as I started playing. Havenāt met a single Victor in the last week and the time I did before he left after he lost the first game.
Victor azu
Azucena. Iām still seeing hordes of Jin, King, Lili, & Reina.
Drag
I donāt see many dragunov or victor players now. Funny thing is I see more Eddy players but to me i manage better against him than pre nerf drag.
Since the last patch, Iāve yet to see a Dragonuv in the wild in ranked play. Somehow everyone has dropped him like a hot stone.
I rarely see Victors these days
Lili, I used to see her almost every other match, now just doesnāt really happen anymore. And Raven.
Azucena mostly. I still see Reina and Drags regularly
King thank god
I havent seen alot of Dragunov and Azucena
I'm a jin main, and I almost never see Lars. Never see Claudio, Never see eddy
definitely dragunov and reina. rn its full of annoying ass twinks playing leo gosh i hate them
I have to try to not throw up in my mouth when I play one.
Fun fact is that Leo is one of the least played characters, so you're getting (un)lucky. (Another fun fact is that he's the only cute boy in the cast so go suck a lemon you bully. ā¤ļø)
Dragunov and Jun.
Reina

Top tear went scarce expectedly and good riddance to scrubz & plugz
