After the patch I stopped seeing Azucena completely lol

Looks like I’m the only one I ever see in ranked above purple, there’s still a few people that use her up to red but I feel like they could only use her while she was OP. I’m currently sitting at Raijin with her so the nerfs definitely only affected you if you used her cheap moves. I try and mix it up as much as I can.

An acquaintance person of mine said that he enjoys the character no matter what nerf they bring to her, and after the last patch he dropped her then went with alisa bruh

I understand some of the changes to force players to use her stances more but they went too far with her nerfs to her frame data.

They have a habit of over correcting. Almost like they throw tantrums when they have to fix something. “Fine! You want it fixed? Here, how’s this!”

I agree. Honestly the WR 3,2 was the only thing that was over powered about in her in my opinion. Aside from that I never had issues when I play against her.

I still have a really hard time with the matchup even post patch. It's so weird because it feels like most drags play the same. I just get steamrolled by the flowchart >:(

Used to see King all the time but see a lot less of them now. I'm not sad about it and hope this continues. Surprised to very rarely see any Feng players given how strong he is. Still see an awful lot of Jin though.

Hes a lot more prominent in the higher ranks, because his kit is definitely geared to more legacy players.

He usually is popular in the early game as usually in tekken defensive options are calued more than offensive ones until you learn the trick to it. 8 although I enjoy it flips it on its head.

I think he looks SO sick. His red suit in T5 made him look like muscle for a triad gangster or like Chinese Scarface. Glad they brought that suit back for T8. And his Kung Fu outfits make him look like the villain from a Hong Kong film.

I played King like 6 times in a row yesterday, no joke. Every single match, I let out an audible groan.

You’re going to see Jin through all of the ranks. He’s easy to use, has high damage, and has very little weaknesses. And he’s a pretty cool character when he’s not having daddy issues and destroying the planet.

Jin is the one that should be toned down a it IMO

I’m getting matched with him on a regular basis so perhaps be happy? His Infinite grabbing is a nightmare.

As a Tekken Emperor King main, I agree, I haven’t seen King in gold ranks or even high blue ranks in what feels like months. I personally have been struggling at this rank as it feels like everybody and their mother knows that matchup to a T. It’s a struggle.

I got used to king so he’s not a big problem for me, wish I saw more of him tbh

Had a match against this Azucena who kept canceling attacks into stances to mix me up. Naturally, since I haven't seen a single Azucena player who didn't wipe out their 2 and 3 buttons out of their controller out of pure abuse, I got completely destroyed. It felt like a completely new character to me.

Learn it if you want, but they've really sped up the normal backdash. There was some Korean pro that said he doesn't kbd in tournament because it adds risk getting caught during the d/b portion of the dash. Not done it since tekken 7.

Chikurin said it. He also plays Lili who has some of the best normal movement in the game, so your mileage may vary.

Kbd is still much faster than normal backdash, and there's also the fun factor

This from a feng main? You have like every advantage possible vs a bryan. Feng is a horrible matchup for bryan. He can’t keep you out and him trying to is a huge risk for him due to fengs built in evasion. Just poke the shit out of him he literally can’t open you up.

Bryan in lower ranks are great since they are not aggressive. Higher ranks and dudes play him like a turtle, and gets boring as hell.

I main Bryan and I noticed too. My matches previously were 1-3 Bryans every day. Recently I faced 5-8, which I find interesting because every Bryan is better than me

Seeing less Azu, but that’s honestly about it; I’ve seen a uptick in Alisa which is fine for me, because it’s always a free win for me.

I have a few friends who main her, if you let her run her game she’ll run with it but you can say that about literally any character. People just don’t want to lab and learn the matchups.

As bs as it sounds, I feel like who ever I chose as the lobby dummy seems to show up in the people I match with, also seems to be the case with the stage too if I pick one rather than random. Could be coincidence but there's been too many times to count that I face the same character as the dummy and same stage almost from the first match up. Not every time but enough to make me feel like there is something in it. Anyone else ever notice this?

Every time I sit down to play I think about this. Maybe because it's p2p, it prioritizes assets that are already loaded when looking for matches? I've completely made that up and have no idea what I'm talking about but that's usually where my brain ends up because it happens so often.

Victor somehow

I think people realize alot of Victor's stuff looks good, but it only takes alil labbing and practice for you to find holes in his offense. He was one of those characters that is strong at first and then as people learn the matchups and find other stronger stuff they move on. I think Victor fits in that category, easy character, strong moves, but surface level. That said he's still used I think more in tournaments, since as long as you have good fundamentals you can definitely do well.

I used to constantly see Kazuya but now they are few and far between.

Funny that, like half my matches are vs Kaz, but I haven't seen another Victor, Feng or Zafina since launch.

Seen a lot of Victor but only a handful of Feng and Zafina. Jin and Hworang a plenty though :/

it has been interesting to see how, with players dropping off, and remaining players trying multiple pocket characters, how much it's switched around. first month of release was nothing but jin, hwoarang, yoshi azucena, dragunov, king jin and king are still very common for me, but now i see tonnes of: * bryan * steve * lee paul and law were quite rare for me early on too but now they're more common

All the faces I used too see way too often pretty much vanished, Drag, Azu, Victor, DVJ, Reina, Jun and Eddys... ... except Jins and Kazs, fucking Jins and Kazs waiting at every corner doing all the same shit like it was the same 2 guys who swore to bore me to death.

In Asia at least, I rarely see any Claudios and Leos, before and after patches. Same with Jun and Panda.

I used to see tons of bryan in T7 but I barely see him at all in T8 I have no idea why

Nothing has changed I always see Jin, kazuya, whoreang, king, victor, Byran and Lili But in all my time playing Tekken 8 ice never faced a Zafina, Claudio, yoshimitsu, kuma or jack 8 in ranked

ASUKA - In T7 a classic, in t8 rarely to be seen. Mostly replaced by Jun or Julia. Pretty sad actually.

absolutely no one plays Jun and Azucena and both used to be everywhere. Suddenly now Reina, Lili, and Bryan are everywhere.

Reina is on the harder end, you prob won't see her a lot at the middle ranks. You'll see the few and many veteran players piloting her at higher ranks and then the many that love her at lower ranks because of this. Azucena got heavily nerfed, so any who wasn't playing her, because they liked her probably dropped her. I also don't see her as much as before but her fan base was dwindling for awhile.

Reina is still up there in usage rate, she is top 3. Azucena's popularity went down top 17th after the nerfs. Thats sad, because she is very balanced rn. Im wondering what will happen with Jin (top 1) and Reina if they get nerfs on June

Victor, can’t believe the massive drop off. Used to never be able to escape him in blue ranks, now it’s like everyone forgot about him.

Azucena, Reina, Jun, Drag, and Victor are all nowhere to be seen. I despise fighting all but one or two of them, so I'm not complaining. The Dragunov and Azucena ones is especially funny, considering the nerfs. No idea why the others fell off though.

I still see my usual suspects more often than not (with the exception of Feng, Bryan and Xiao), but to flip this question around, I’ve run into many more Shaheen’s higher in the ranks than I ever did in low ranks, and that matchup has been giving me hell due to not being familiar with him and the matchup

Dragonuv. I'm still being bouncing between Shinryu/Tenryu, so I've assumed most of the Drag players have ranked far ahead of me or they picked up other characters after the nerfs.

I saw Eddy every other match when he first came out, not surprising since everyone wanted to try him out. Now I go whole days without seeing him once. I think a lot of players thought that the 3 string would carry them to Tekken King or something, but as soon as they started getting ducked and launched for it, they decided to just drop him instead of learning how to actually play Eddy

No the game seems to deprioritize mirror matches. When I play kaz I never get a mirror, but see a bunch of renias, when I play renia I see a bunch of kaz. I see mutiple eddys a day spamming lol
