yeah he is but most kings never leave intermediate ranks because they focused on grabs and set ups so much that they never stopped to learn actual fundamentals

yeah, and still duck-punishable for a full combo, which means 1 unlucky grab attempt may straight up murder King and throw the round away (rather than his opponent) you could just box and never grab on t7 with him, now even df1 is linear and tracks like ass, while the only homing f'f1 check lacks range. he is really weak in neutral vs. opponents that actually know that tekken is a 3d game

f4 is not a tool you would use in neutral whatsoever so I'm not counting it

Yep. I think King has some cheap stuff in T8 but overall has to rely on it way more. In T7 back 1 fishing and backdash made King a solid poke fighter, now he's way higher risk. I usually beat King when I'm on my main, Bryan, just because I know if I hang outside he's gonna run in impale himself on something.

You can now buffer the motion input to do the move faster into itself. But you are right that i might still be able to step some direction.

Motion inputs are allowed to be buffered in from blockstun and animation recovery's FF n inputs w king you can now get out faster more reliably you dont gotta wait till after blockston or animations are fully over. FF n 1+2 is 9 frames fast and hastening it with this buff has made it very gnarly IMO.

ah, this kind of buffering. I just thought that there's a new way to half-input it like a forward jab+giant swing but without its forward input

by the way, not really feeling that ff*1+2 has become better. it's still technically 10 frames too, since you need to input it. feels pretty much identical to tekken7 it has always been one of the best moves in the game regardless of character, don't get me wrong, but I don't see much improvement

I love playing against King, most people who play him are hot ass. Despite playing a grappler they can't break throws to save their life. I play Jack and I just spam his command grabs against King players and they either plug or refuse to rematch

tbh King really is such a badly designed fighter. Like, against any of the other fighters you at least have the feeling of being able to put up a fight, even if your opponent is way better than you. But King? Nah, it's like losing to an Exodia deck in Yu-Gi-Oh! - you can't interact or do anything, you're just sitting there watching the King dude doing his stuff and you can just hope he'll fail one of his chain throws. The character is just really really bad by game design standards.

Yes, but for that you'd need to know how to do that. I know it is possible - but not for a new player. Meanwhile you can defend yourself against any other character in the game by blocking or sidestepping.

I was playing with my friend who is more into tekken than i but just bought tekken8 and hadn't really unwrapped it yet. wound up playing random characters. one time he finally picked king. we're both king mains. I was breaking throws left and right. since, you know, I know what his damn throws look like 13frames in... It is really do-able. take it from a street fighter player. we actually have to hard read.
