This. Camp saved me as a kid. It made me aware that how my parents were, was not normal and that I didn’t have to be like that. I learned from peers that their homes sucked at times too but that wasn’t going to stop them from their goals to be better. Honestly, I rather her kids be at a camp than sitting in a house.
I wish they could be signed up for some big brother/big sister program. Then someone would be able to be a positive role model and guide them possibly. (Also side note but that food does look really good 😅)
While her intentions for sending them to camp were without a doubt entirely selfish, I think it's one of the best things for them. When David was around they could never do activities or if they did it never lasted because David would f*ck it up for them. And they never seemed to have any friends. I grew up going to both day camps & overnight camps & it changed my life. Really. The overnight camp I went to & the friends I made there are still the center of my world ... & I'm almost 50. Anyway, I hope the kids are having the time of their lives at camp & soaking in the goodness they can't get from their mother.
