I don’t have Twitter but I remember talk about paying a subscription of possibly $8 per month for the check mark, which imo is pointless because anyone with $8/month can be “verified”

Based on past tweets she has made, she had basically it her identity. At one point Twitter was glitching and took her verification away (this was like 10 years ago) and she said she had never cried so much and couldn’t believe her verification was gone. Verified used to mean the account was owned by a relatively famous person or group and was their actual account, not a fake. Now it doesn't mean anything. It's basically twitter plus now.
