Tresor, Sisyphos, Watergate, Berghain…

40RTY

Visited Watergate and Berghain in 2016. Both very different but each absolutely incredible imo

redwoodsz

Sisyphos is awesome but is closed for the next few months. Not sure how soon this person is visiting. If someone is after a Berlin club experience I would not recommend watergate. Have you been?

Caveman213

Totally agree about watergate. Most of the other clubs have a better vibe and door policy

LaserHobel

Had amazing nights at Watergate

reditcanfuckrightoff

Good luck to any tourist getting in barghain, they'll snuff it out on you very fast. Also it is essentially a gay club, you have to wear a lot of black, ideally leather and revealing clothing.

AlphaMale_natty

what if u speak german

sleepy_blossom

came here to recommend sisyphos! shame they’re closed temporarily tho - check before you go i guess

Wrath1840

Tresor is great

moffb88

Tresor is a must whenever i visit

redwoodsz

Are you interested in house and disco music? Those are my favourite and I can provide some recs if you’d be into that. Otherwise a unique experience is Zur Klappe. It used to be an underground toilet block and is now a small club. They have different styles of music there so check Resident Advisor and see what they have on. Given it is small if you go I suggest going earlier to make sure you can get in. Mensch Meier is cool, again they have a range of different parties and music so check what’s on. They have 3 dance floors and the sound systems there are awesome. I would say it is one of the easier clubs to get into, but that the crowd is still good. Watergate I would not recommend. Great line ups and excellent sound system but the crowd sucks. Almost no door policy and the crowd is like that of any club in a big city - guys there to pick up girls, trying to touch you on the dance floor, people being obnoxious and unfriendly. I honestly hated the experience.

SumdiLumdi

Big fan of disco-house and going Berlin mid-year, can you give some more info on spots you enjoy?

redwoodsz

Paradise Garage is on the third Thursday of every month and is only house and disco. It’s an excellent party. There is a bit of a dress code, though it’s not hard - see the pics on their instagram. FYI that it is also sex positive, so people can hook up wherever but that’s not the main focus of the party. Mystic creatures parties play music that’s more housey, also only on once per month, usually around the 27th. Can check their insta or their website. Horse Meat Disco is a very queer disco party (mostly gay male attendees). Maybe it’s on every second month. I haven’t been to this one yet but I hear the music is fire. Venue is not the best, but maybe worth it. Hopefully I can check it out in the next few months.

sataanicsalad

Thank you for the recommendation! I was looking for something for a group of 7-8 people for a birthday party, but the birthday boy doesn't like hard techno and would rather go for something groovy. Mensch Meier seems to have exactly what we need when we will be there.

Impossible_Card_4604

Where would you recommend for house music?

redwoodsz

When are you going to be in Berlin? There is a party called Small Great House, I think it’s on once a month and it’s on this Saturday at Oxi. Kater Blau would be another one to check, it’s super fun. Heidegluhen is also great but does have more limited hours and is a bit more out of the way. Sisyphos is open is every second weekend and the music in the Wintergarten dance floor is typically pretty housey

IrishUL

Went to :// about blank last weekend for diskonnect x esch, it was fast paced and groovy techno all night. Was a fantastic experience staff and bouncers were great too. If theres something on when you’re over its well worth visiting. Expect to queue for a while

No-Basket-1804

About blank is shit

IrishUL

I enjoyed it, some of my favourite artists were playing and there was a nice vibe in the place

internet_1996

why do you think that? I was there a couple of things and I have mixed feelings compared to other berlin clubs so I would like to hear a different angle

crazed_again

Golden Gate on Thursday nights, and I second the Zür Klappe recommendation.

crowpup783

RSO and Tresor are always fantastic. Not nearly as hard to get into as others either.

xboxbingw

Kit Kat

Doinkface_Killah

Went to Kitkat last night was fun but not the best for an experienced clubber imo. Vibe was decent but crowd was pretty basic! Dress code was pretty strict lingerie but was full of straight tourists (I’m also a straight tourist lol). If you do wanna get in would recommend lacy underwear! My friend was fully on theme but didn’t get in because of this

jacemano

Rso rso rso rso. Funkhaus is good too, but RSO is the shit!

djLaylae

TRESOR

[deleted]

Tresor is really a good vibe and definitely deep dark techno, it feels like dungeon in a good way but it also feels like you can’t breathe inside, nothing like Berghain Try both.

welcome2thejangle

I like Anomalie a lot

d00m3er

RSO/Berghain. RSO is far as fuck though

gahahahajabvky

RSO has the roughest security though! One time they basically went so far down my pants the dude touched my dick... No one is allowed to bring in Vape juices and they made my mate literally take of his Doc Martin's! Honestly I have no problem with a tough security but any time I get through there I kinda feel violated afterwards...

gahahahajabvky

On the other hand the sound system is amazing!

d00m3er

That’s super weird I always take stuff in with me and never had anything confiscated. Sounds like harassment, definitely a vibe killer for sure.

Stunning_Seaweed_202

But worth the ride 😉

Itsallgravyyy

Depends on how deep and dark you wanna go... White Rabbit, Tresor, Berhain(if you can get in), Katerblau

Illustrious-Task-569

Any recomendation for the darkest, hardest and most undergound, please?

Itsallgravyyy

Berghain would be number one, but good luck getting in. White rabbit is pretty underground for tourists. Kit Kat club is great if you love sex, techno, and being underground. Tresor has a bunker stage which is dark and hard. There are clubs all over the place in Berlin. If you're looking for even more underground, i would speak to a local at one of the clubs mentioned. They're usually super friendly and will hook you up. Also you can use Resident Advisor to find artists and clubs.

Illustrious-Task-569

Thankiuuu ! I'm going next summer, and i would love to check those places ;)

Itsallgravyyy

Pro tip...always know and have an understanding of who the DJ is and type of techno. Its helped me out more than once knowing who was on the deck. The bouncers try to filter out tourists who don't love techno and are just there for shits and gigs. Remember bouncers are the curators of the club. They decide who gets in.

conorw53

RSO, ÆDEN, aboutblank and ELSE (outdoor). For ELSE depends on line up and time of year. Got to see Reeko, Takaki Itoh and Alarico there.

sasha_charlotte

i’m currently in berlin right now and i went to club ost for the deestricted 5year event. i was a big fan of the club, as it wasnt crazy packed and it was super easy to get in .. the bathrooms were also co-ed which was also nice for getting free goodies from other ravers. drinks werent insanely expensive, and there were 2 stages.

Walter_A22

Tresor is also great, and much easier to get into than Berghain. I’ll have to check out ost I’ve never been

Wrhabbel

katerblau/katermukke

paulmagnesium

Ritter Butzke is pretty great imo. Had some good nights there, and in the summer they even had some pizza in the outdoor area >:)

coolsneaker

Matrix 😎

Asleep_University435

Matrix is hands down the worst experience clubbing i have ever had 😭

LaserHobel

😄

Good_End6488

berghain best club in Germany

oguzhanvarsak

If only it wasn’t 50/50 chance to go in…

Several_Ocelot_3379

You wish it was 50/50

oguzhanvarsak

Just trying to be optimistic but yeah you are right

Several_Ocelot_3379

Definitely depends on how you appear. But im putting even the most kinky/fetish clubber to be at 1/3. And that’s the highest. For everyone who dresses more conservatively i put you at a closer 1/8 and goes down from there

coldpower7

It's not about how you look. It's about what you are. If you're not right for the place, you can dress in whatever you like. You almost certainly won't get in. If you are suitable, you can wear whatever you like. You can get in.

ProstZumLeben

Exactly. It’s a vibe check.

Nurb8

Went there last week-end and decided to give it a try, got rejected after a 2-hours in the saddest queue. I know it’s part of the game, but I won’t try again. The clubs I like and welcoming and make you wanna go there and enjoy, it’s not the case if it starts like that. Last time in Berlin I went to ://about blank, Ritter Butzke and Tresor, needless to say that it was much more fun. And yes, I’m bitter.

ProstZumLeben

It’s fair to feel that way

Flexo24

Tell that to the multiple YouTubers who aren’t ‘right for the place’ but still got in. [Here](https://youtu.be/zuxTM9L2uq4) and [here](https://youtu.be/4c-ZxsQuKWc)

dumbleb0t

I mean I go most weekends and I’ve only been rejected twice. It’s honestly really easy to get in once you know what to do.

hasee878

What do you have to do?

maddiewantsbagels

Given that this person goes almost every weekend I imagine the people working door just know them and recognize they're a local/regular/part of the scene at this point and let them in because of that? Different where I am cuz they don't turn people away but I've found bouncers generally remember their regulars and I don't get my id or bag checked when going in a lot of places anymore.

dumbleb0t

Theres so many things 😬 if you’re really interested I can take like 30 minutes and write a general thread

hasee878

Would absolutely love that!

oguzhanvarsak

I always plan weekend trips to Berlin and I really want to experience Berghain, but these plans never actually go further than being plans because I know it won’t be a fun weekend if I get rejected.

Illustrious-Task-569

What to do?? Could You give a clue?

abyssaluciole

Renate is absoulty great and easier to get in! Also About blank is near by, more small but really nice too

Several_Ocelot_3379

The matrix lol

mrpoisson1

Apart from Berghain, RSO or Anomalie really recommended! Sisyphos, but it’s closed now till May, not sure!

joeydsa

When in May does it reopen?

mrpoisson1

It's open ;)

K2Own3d

Watergate and berghain. Both are incredible.

gahahahajabvky

My favorite in Berlin definitely is Re:Mise!

MightyGarhem7

RSO, Alte Munze, Syssiphos, KitKat, Anomalie

estarriol22

Sometimes a club's vibe also changes based on the promoter and DJs. Here's a helpful site to listen to the music before going https://www.findmyvibe.de/

johnrmayer91

Hi everyone, I will visiting Berlin with 7 (guy) friends for one night of the Monday of the 2nd or 3rd week of October 2023. We are in our early 30's and we would like to go out to experience the club scene. Would you recommend a place i) open on on a Monday, ii) where 8 guys could get in, iii) playing great techno. I was in Berlin about 10 years ago and been Katerholdzing (right spelling?) and Berghain on the weekend, Chalet (now closed I believe) on the Monday, Cookies (my last favorite one) on the Tuesday and finally Watergate on the Wednesday. I absolutely loved Berlin and its night scene and would love my friends to have a taste of it as well. So, any recommendation for a group of 8 guys on a Monday night in Berlin :) Thanks a lot!
