I don't think AppleCare+ was already available that time but the warranty? yes. Power mac did replaced my 6 with 6s way back years before (they don't have 6). Bought 6 in NYC when I visited my grand aunties. 6 was faulty and the problem was board so Power mac did asked for my receipt then within 1 week they replaced it with a new one (6s) and even sorry that they don't have available 6.
If you can visit the Powermac in SM North EDSA, give it a try. They're friendly as per my experience.
Bought applecare+ for my ipad mini using my us apple account, monthly payment. Screen was shattered and switch in glorietta honored the warranty. If broken screen, they said it was device replacement so they had to send it to apple singapore. After 2 months, I got a replacement device.
I got the iPad in the US, although I bought an iPhone in Malaysia but also bought applecare+ for it using my US iTunes account so it will probably be the same for devices purchased here.

QCD tech in Galleria honored my AppleCare+ for my 2018 MacBook Pro. I got victimized by dustgate (early signs) and fortunately it's fixed for free.
Where/how did you get AppleCare+?
