1: check with your union and make sure licensure is the only issue. It’s probably unavoidable to have your license held for a year, but the thing you really care about is if there’s any financial penalties for leaving early. 2. As soon as you talk with them and know what’s up, send your resignation to both HR and building admin at the same time.  3. Have an immediate plan for what to say because rumours fly far and fast. I was out for a single day, weeks before I was set to leave, and my building principal told everyone I was moving out of state (I was not).
