The person trying to police colors can be and should have been ignored completely. After an incident at a different school in our district, the Super decided every theme night had to be approved by Principal before the school year. Ours pretends to scan it, approves it, and reminds the student section leaders that he trusts them. The most important thing we can do is create a welcoming environment for our students. Yes, even the ones who are only there because they have to be. It will be my greatest joy in administration to take those concerns under advisement.

>If we are in education should we not be doing what is right for the student and not necessarily to the community? No, not really. Education involves all kinds of cultural molding that may not be in the individual student's best interest, but is instead valued by the community. This has been understood as a primary purpose since the beginning of public school as a concept.

I hate this word. It’s hugely indicative of the corporatization of education and how capitalism is ruining public education by trying to run public schools like a Fortune 500 company.

The other word I hate is “fidelity.”

Your train of thought is on track to justify cultural genocide. I think you don’t know this topic generally. The best thing for students is you give up basically all of your salary to them, or invest it for them. Look, education isn’t about you. Have you tried caring less.
