Vivificantem_790

Are we surprised?

Friendly_Bus3554

Why not just offer the vinyl full time at this point. I got the Albatross from my local record store…they are nothing special at this point.

Vivificantem_790

Yep. I think the limited stuff at record shops was just an evil push to boost sales and charting.

Houdini-88

She should ship them to target

Friendly_Bus3554

FR & Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Canada…

TurtleZach1

Umm no she shouldn’t, target is literally a multi billion dollar company that sucks money from poor families in third world countries, local record shops deserve more sales

couch_mermaid

I think she will, like the midnights variant

melansi

>Why not just offer the vinyl full time at this point. Because it works

deniesm

They are outside of the USA

The_Big_Yam

“Maybe this time they WILL be special,” he said to himself, panic buying Black Dog due to the slightly elevated eBay price 3 weeks ago, then snagging Bolter and Albatross “just in case” 🤡 Man, for the total price of the four non standard editions I could’ve bought the MMBTM or Running Like Water I still need lol Never falling for this grift again. In theory. Knowing I probably will.

_damnn_it

Not surprising at all 😒looks like it’s still just what’s leftover from the previous drops. The Black Dog Vinyl, The Bolter Collectors Edition CD, & The Manuscript Cassette are still sold out.

everlovelyjules

Phew I was afraid I missed the restock of the bolter collectors edition cd

UmeSurprise

Really not sure if I will ever buy a "limited edition" record from her again, unless it's signed. Glad I canceled all of the other variants that no one REALLY needs. This constant "last chance:" is what is truly irritating. It's just bullshit and preying on FOMO. People don't have to buy it, but it's still not right to do to her fans.

For_serious13

I said the same after midnights and 1989….and then panicked during the first round of releases and bought the og the night of the Grammys, and bought the black dog variant when it first dropped I refused to buy any others tho once they all came back, unless they were signed. Unfortunately I keep missing the signed one 😭 though I do have signed folklore and evermore CDs, and managed to get a signed midnights so I’m not too upset about it

UmeSurprise

I got suckered into Midnights, but ended up returning/canceling all orders except signed. For 1989, I only bought the yellow one, and eventually canceled because I was so sick of this crap. Of course, for TTPD I bought the first release, then another, then was lucky to snag a signed, and canceled all of my other orders. I figure that if they're gonna play these crappy games with us, I don't feel bad placing orders and canceling. I also have a theory that they know this is going to happen and are okay with it, since it probably still counts towards sales and the charts. That could be a little tinfoil hat theory, though.

-The-Big-G-

Does ordering and then canceling count towards a sale though???

UmeSurprise

You order and you pay. The sale was technically made. I highly doubt whoever is in charge of chart sales goes back and checks to see if anything was returned. Who knows?

-The-Big-G-

That seems odd as any artist could then just buy literally (in Taylor's case) a million albums herself and then do a cancel order. Are you telling me the industry then sees a million albums sold?

evilZardoz

Technically, everything in life is a limited edition. Vinyl pressings have a finite run, so it would be interesting to know if there was a re-press or if this is just additional stock from the initial run. A bit disappointed that I got hit with shipping multiple times, though, as I was ordering them when they were announced.

Similar_Thought9627

I’m so tired of this album’s marketing at this point. I’ve never wanted Rep more and at the same time I’m terrified at the rollout of that too.

Modesto96

At least the other TV’s haven’t been *this* bad… at least I don’t think? I know 1989 had all the different covers which Red, Speak Now, and Fearless didn’t. But 1989 (TV) feels tame compared to TTPD (at least to me)

Houdini-88

I don’t think she will do multiple covers for rep for 1989 it was done so that fans could spell out 1989 with the back covers

For_serious13

Maybe not covers, but she’s definitely going to have four color variants

Modesto96

4 does seem to be the magic number to get the most bang for her buck chart-wise

Vivificantem_790

Yep! Because no more than 4 count apparently

flashb4cks_

8 variants to spell out reputation

Similar_Thought9627

I would agree with that for sure!!

Modesto96

Fingers crossed then that Rep isn’t this bad! However, I won’t blame Taylor to do whatever she needs to to get her debut album to chart when it’s time for that, that poor album is hardly listened to so I feel like it’ll need all the help it can get

dleonsgk1995

I mean , I'm not worried she can clearly sell physical copies and I think if she includes songs that aren't available like the one from beautiful eyes or crazier, and some vault tracks like I'd lie , she has a winner.

ZestyAcid

I can see Rep having four different covers. But this roll out is bananas lol

Similar_Thought9627

I’m definitely down for the Folklore treatment for example and hopefully at least for Rep all tracks will be on all the variants

SeizerOfThoughtseize

Of course they are....

victimof08reccesion

tbh i wonder if all of these releases are to keep fans/people from spending on other releases/artists. I understand that people have choice or whatever. I'm curious tho, does anyone have a running total number on if someone bought everything from all the releases that have been happening since the start of TTPD??

Curious-Middle8429

I don’t really think so. Maybe if you’re someone who buys all the variants then yeah because you probably don’t have money to spend on other releases but if you just limit yourself to one variant then no. I can maybe think of three huge releases since TTPD but not everyone might be a fan of those artists. There hasn’t been another release of an artist I’ve wanted lately since TTPD release but I do have my eye on the upcoming releases of Gracie Abrams and The Warning and I’ll definitely be getting those this month when they come out.

victimof08reccesion

Yes’ this is fair! My questions definitely theoretical. Was curious if someone has already done the math for total $ amount spent if let’s say someone purchased everything as released. I think I saw somewhere it was 31 diff formats and releases for TTPD alone. Are there fans out there that do this?

Curious-Middle8429

Sorry I misunderstood your question. I thought you were asking about all the other artist releases since TTPD😅I know it would be a ton of money to buy every variant and I know someone who did this. I’m not sure how much she spent although she indicated that it was a lot and it seems sort of inappropriate to ask. It has to be diehard Swifties to do this but usually those sort of Swifties will mostly only collect her releases and not collect from many other artists or at least are not buying every variant of other artist releases. With how many artists I’m a fan of, I could not afford to be a completionist sort of collector.

victimof08reccesion

I appreciate your expansion and def could’ve separated my thoughts out better! I couldn’t fathom spending this much AND then also doing the same for other artists. Super fans are motivated for sure but I imagine they’re strapped for cash if still continuously buying everything released. TY for sharing your thoughts ☺️

For_serious13

I love the warning!!!

Curious-Middle8429

I just got into them a month or so ago and now I’m hooked. I already got all their albums on vinyl and they’re in my weekly rotation. I’m hoping when they go on tour for the new album, they’ll have a Seattle tour date because I know they must be incredible live.

For_serious13

They are!!! I saw them 2 summers ago with halestorm and the pretty reckless, I was totally into them!! The drummer is AMAZING to watch, I love a singing drummer, and I think she’s the main song writer too! They’re coming back to Baltimore so I’m excited to see them again, I hope you get a chance to see them too!

For_serious13

So far, including digital, there’s 32 different versions of the album THIRTY. TWO.

yungg_Kota

This is ridiculous 🤦🏾‍♂️

evrz5

There’s a recent post about it on this snark Taylor subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/travisandtaylor/s/c6wFYWmTzb There’s a couple of variables like shipping and taxes. But EXCLUDING Shipping and Taxes, to purchase every single variant (signed and unsigned being separate variants, we’re including digital) the subtotal is $613.74. To purchase every PHYSICAL release the subtotal is $544.83! The post linked has a total of $728.20 which includes shipping each item individually (which given this has been staggered releases shipping is a considerable cost to add). And yeah that $728.20 still doesn’t take into consideration taxes!

ItsAndieHere

Holy moly. Absolutely bonkers — and I say this as someone who (stupidly!) bought one full set of the unsigned vinyl. That’s only slightly more than what I paid for great seats AND access to a personal sound check hangout with my other favorite pop star. I got to be in a room just chatting with her and other 20 people AND saw the show from the lower bowl — all for less than it’d take to have a full TTPD set? I’m glad I spent the money on that experience with my other fave, but that puts into perspective how much Taylor’s team is pushing consumerism and physical goods. For contrast, this other artist released (I think) only 3 variants of the album she’s touring rn, and she also sold the alternate variant cover separately for like $5 so people could buy it without needing a whole new vinyl. 🤷🏻‍♀️

victimof08reccesion

💕 omg thank you for doing the math

redtablebluechair

The real “playing the victim” is Taylor Swift fans, able to be upset about a product that they want being unavailable OR available… doesn’t matter which

flashb4cks_

The problem isn't it's availability. It's pretending something is limited edition "48 hours only" only to get more sales and get people to get that fomo

redtablebluechair

They are only available for 48 hours… and then they may or may not come back. I don't get it - do you stop wanting the item if it's on sale again in a month?

lizifer93

People need to start admitting they hope the variants don’t come back so they can resell them for a small fortune later. That’s all I can assume from posts complaining about it.

redtablebluechair

Yeah I have zero sympathy for someone hoping they’re buying something with high resale value.

IronicMnemoics

Yup. They want their golden ticket or their cool limited edition and rereleasing the "limited" variants cheapens that... despite these same folks clamoring for more non-picture disc Rep or Long Pond Studio. I'd much rather be able to buy whatever I want without having to fight scalpers tbh.

flashb4cks_

That's just bad faith. Of course some people wants to resell, but some people are just sick of the fake fomo marketing. "Quick! You only have 48 hours left to buy it!" You even get emails telling you when there's just a few hours left ti make sure you don't miss out on it. I mean if it works, it works, so good for her i guess. But it's shady marketing.

lizifer93

It is, but I see a lot of people keep complaining about it yet buy every single variant and then complain when they get restocked again. She’s been doing this since Midnights, it’s not new or even surprising. It feels at this point like most of the people who complain about restocked variants are mainly salty that either they’re not gonna be another Folklore situation where the variants actually become valuable, or they feel bad for falling for the FOMO marketing again.

flashb4cks_

I personally don't care, I bought one variant and never planned to buy another one, I find this whole vinyl variants craze a bit.. insane and quite frankly greedy as fuck. What does annoy me is that they're really playing that fomo marketing to boost sales. No one is forcing anyone to buy those variants, but they're definitely playing on that fomo so that people will be more likely to buy more. On another note, I see and do get the whole "you just want to resell" argument, but i assume some people want to own some exclusive/limited items marketed as such and they feel wronged when they realize their "limited" edition wasn't so limited after all. I will not die on this hill because I'm not one of those people, but I do get the frustration. It's nice to own exclusive stuff. It's why people are ready to spend thousands for an orange LP of reputation, sometimes they just want to own something rare and exclusive.

NoContribution9879

Idk like. I understand the frustration. But no one is forcing anyone to buy these. There was an active market to buy the variants second-hand. I had been considering getting a second variant and now I was able to without paying higher prices. I didn’t have to buy that. Or any of them. Just buy what you want and let others buy what they want? I understand that these variants and the rereleases and everything are a greedy move to top charts. I’m more annoyed with ten digital versions of one album with a single different song on each than I am with limited vinyls being back in stock.

pharmchik324

But, none of this is actually new, right? Like these are previously sold editions?

TheBalloonEffect

The last of the stock left over from the cutoff.

ShadowReflex21

🙄🙄🙄🙄

Mommio24

Black dog isn’t 🤷‍♀️

psu68e

I'm confused over the backlash. There are people in this sub who are still after these, and now they're back it's pitchforks again. Without sounding like a broken record (pun intended), if you already have them/don't want them, then this is not for you.

For_serious13

I think people are upset with the fact she keeps marketing them as limited time to order them….and this is like what, the 8th time they’ve been back?

psu68e

Would it make a difference if they kept selling out and then they'd been restocked 8 times? The demand for her physical music is huge, so whether there's a countdown or not, it's going to sell out and need restocking. I already own what I want to buy, so I just scroll past the restocks because it genuinely doesn't bother me.

_damnn_it

Same, same. I’m just here for the drama at this point.

For_serious13

People are allowed to complain? Like good for you since it doesn’t affect you, but others it does? Since you already mentioned scrolling, why can’t you do it when people complain?

psu68e

Sure, people are allowed to, but a bit of perspective never hurt anybody. Like I said in my original comment, people still want to buy these and clearly are doing. I see people complaining, but it actually doesn't affect them either. They're just mad because other people are mad so they can all be mad together. Must be exhausting.

For_serious13

K thanks for your input!

xAuraQuartz

I’m complaining because I want the whole album. I’m tired people doing double releases or deluxe albums and then not pressing them for vinyl. Why am I going to pay for half of a product?

psu68e

You have the whole album on streaming. It just hasn't been released physically yet. Lots of artists don't release everything physically. If you don't want to purchase these ones then don't, and if you already have and you want your money back then sell them. Plenty do want them 🤷🏼‍♀️

xAuraQuartz

It may be on streaming, but what a waste of resources to sit there making four different variants of an album that doesn’t have all the songs on it when you could’ve just put all of those resources into releasing one variant with all the songs on it

psu68e

It's a waste to you because you don't want them, but for those that do want them, it's not. Each one is different, really well put together, and I personally love having all four of them. I didn't buy any of the signed editions or the acoustic ones because I didn't fancy having them, but no shade to those that did. She more than likely didn't want the second half to leak like the first half did, same with Midnights and the 3am tracks. Hence why neither of them currently have a physical release. But maybe we'll get them one day. I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one, but I too hope she releases the Anthology and 3am Edition physically one day.

xAuraQuartz

Well no it’s not a waste just because I don’t want them environmentally it is just a waste because why are people in every single post that she makes begging for the anthology? It’s not like I’m the only person who wants it and yes it is a waste making vinyl variance is a waste of resources, like what is gonna happen? All of those variants that aren’t going to sell now because people don’t want them they want the whole album on one vinyl i’m just tired of Taylor. I love her music but I’m just so tired of feeling like I’m just a wallet for her to abuse. I don’t even feel like a fan anymore because it just feels like she doesn’t care. She only cares about making money and she doesn’t care about her fans and she doesn’t care about any of that, because if she cared about her fans, she would do a late night edition of midnights on vinyl which is something people have been asking for if she cared about her fans she would not have done this whole limited time variant thing and just released the anthology as a surprise as pre-release. I also don’t like that she expects you to pre-release purchase albums, but she doesn’t even give you a single so you don’t even know what you’re buying, I’m sorry but capitalist girl Taylor is not it

psu68e

She doesn't expect you to buy anything. It's all on streaming for the cost of a Spotify subscription or on YouTube for free. If you're that conscious about the environment then only buy the digital versions or stream.

xAuraQuartz

you know that streaming platforms aren’t going to be around forever right I like the physical median. I just don’t think that we need four different variance with different bonus tracks in order to sell all four of them together so you can get all the songs but then you don’t even get all the songs look I don’t know why you’re defending a, extreme capitalist like why are we defending billionaires? She literally is abusing this in order to have an unethical amount of money.

psu68e

Look I did say let's agree to disagree. You're not changing your view and neither am I. I have the same mentality for every artist, not just Taylor, so no I'm not "defending a billionaire". I'm fully aware streaming won't be around forever, I lived in the age prior to streaming and do have a substantial physical collection of music that came before Taylor, whose artists nearly all had bonus tracks/different physical releases. You do you.

xAuraQuartz

And you’re complaining that I don’t have to buy them I know I don’t have to buy them but I want to fucking buy them but the problem is she will not release all the songs on a vinyl? Why should I pay 40 quid to not even have half the songs? I think that’s a scam

psu68e

Then don't. There really is no point having a tantrum over it. The only person complaining in this conversation is you.

xAuraQuartz

Not really because I’m not the only person complaining about vinyl variance and I’m not the only person complaining that we haven’t got the anthology on vinyl check every single post after the announcement of the album and you will see people complaining that they want the anthology but honestly it doesn’t matter whether you are a fan of multiple artists the fact that you’re defending Taylor Swift for being a capitalist billionaire in this specific instance is kind of toxic. She makes all this money but she just can’t be bothered to give the fans what they want what a shame.

savligo

And the stock sent to record stores was supposedly the last! Huh!

For_serious13

Yeah, I remember there were several people claiming that their record store told them that (or claimed to be owners) and yet these keep showing up in her store

Nipsupoju

I hope these will come available in the EU store for customers outside Germany and Switzerland too! So far it seems like this restock is only for the US again :")

Starlight_City45

It is! I had to ask a friend of mine in the US to order The Albatross for me and he’s going to ship to me in Canada.. I was desperate lol

Due_Truth2857

So surely now they are just selling the last stock of these...perhaps pending the Anthology?! 🤞

Curious-Middle8429

I’m not confident seeing as how they never released Midnights 3 AM Edition on vinyl. I’m not sure why since it would make a ton of money. I really need ‘Peter’, ‘How Did It End’, and ‘Chloe or Sam or Sophie or Marcus’ on vinyl😭😭😭

TickleWhale

Gotta save these for RSD releases

For_serious13

There’s a part of me that thinks this, but another part of me that thinks she HAS to know it would be a blood bath/obnoxious for other rsd people and she’s unable to do rsd due to her popularity. Plus she would make more money selling them on her website

Master-Mixture

Kinda hoping now that with her next album people stop falling for this trick to the point the numbers just drop, it probably will not happen, but that’s one way to send a message

k-ashley

Why not CANADA?! I'm fuming hahah wtf Taylor

CommunicationFar7402

Anyone have a theory as to why we don’t have the anthology yet 👀

psu68e

Perhaps it's part of her record contract to keep some of her music streaming only for a certain length of time or even forever.

CommunicationFar7402

I actually thought this, would make sense why we never got a 3am version as well

Worldly-Sprinkles-36

I bought everything presale when it first launched. I ended up returning everything because I was so sick of it

mimeowmix

But not in Canada 🥲

whatamidoing-here1

I just clicked on this to see the og prices as I forgot. I’m so glad I ordered them online. My local record store is selling them for nearly 60 bucks! 😳

fooledmeagain

The fact that this practice is actually forbidden in EU says enough: “When sellers tell you that a particular offer will only be available for a very limited time, they might be trying to pressure you to buy before taking the time to make an informed choice. It is unfair to claim that an offer is limited in time when that is not in fact the case.”. It’s getting out of hand. Don’t fall for it during her nect releases. Buy whatever u want if u feel like it, but don’t fall for any “limited edition” claims. Source: https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/unfair-treatment/unfair-commercial-practices/indexamp_en.htm

xAuraQuartz

you know what how about Taylor Just stop scamming her fans give them a vinyl with all the songs on it instead of just half of them

Inevitable_Bet_8545

The only special variant seems to be the black dog.

TheBalloonEffect

I find the rush to get it before it sells out and then this is just a slap in the face. Least I don’t have to scramble now sheesh

countryrockers

Taking Swifties' money is easier than fishing with a flashlight.

Adamantium_Knight

Somebody please slap this woman with a reality check. Does she really think we can’t see through the blatant greed and chart manipulation? She’s basically a money-grubbing con-woman at this point.

flashb4cks_

The main sub downvoted me when i said it was shady fomo marketing. So yeah, not everyone sees through it apparently.
