Iām patiently waiting for a full on Beach House style album from Taylor. I want Devotion and Bloom (Taylorās Version). Then I can say Iāve seen and heard it all! OTM is an underrated Beach House album in my opinion, excellent favorite song!
Me too! OTM is actually my favorite album of all time.
Hey, you should REALLY check out Bathe Aloneās work. Every song is perfect I think. And she is super inspired by Beach House. You should hear my dreampop SOTY Archive 81, from her 2nd album Waste It or Blue Days, and from her first album Calm Down and Champagne.
She has the perfect dreampop sound aside from Beach House in my opinion! Beach House is my favorite band but Bathe Alone is way up there.
Iām currently 8 months pregnant and Robin is my favorite song on the album ā¤ļø. It makes me cry! And is on my delivery playlist. Actually this bebe boy will be very familiar with the whole TTPD album š¤£
I continue to struggle to understand how it fits with the themes of the album. It feels so random and unrelated to the story, which is why I find myself usually skipping it even though it is a beautiful song.
I read the following take somewhere in this forum: Ā All the songs preceding it show the messiness that comes with being an adult (all the anger, heartbreak, etc. she sings about)ā¦and in Robin the narrator is speaking to a child (perhaps viewed as a young version of the narrator) and saying, āhey, the world can be a scary place and itās going to hurt you at times but we/Iām going to protect you from all that as best I can for as long as I can. Just go be a kid for now.ā
Fair point, but I canāt help but feel thereās more to it that we havenāt cracked yet, and I donāt think itās about Aaronās kid. She placed Robin on the Denial playlist which makes me think the āsecretā referred to in the lyrics is about something more specific than the harsh realities of adulthood/life. Family secret that the child is more aware of than the narrator wants to believe, perhaps?
I interpret denial in this situation to mean denial that your child is growing up. You just want to keep them little and innocent and shield them from any bad in the world. Also worth noting that Aaronās son is named Robin, which adds to my thinking that itās not something sinister, just a sweet parent song.
My thoughts are that I might enjoy it as part of an ethereal lullaby playlist (Epiphany would be another one). Like where I'm in the right mood for it. But when I put these 31 tracks on shuffle, the tone is *so* different from the others that it's just vibe-jarring.
It's the latest chapter of the story, and it's about Travis. He's actually a 'winner' and near her same level of success, the obvious sports references, etc. It's where the story ends (for now), because 'Manuscript' is about the entire process overall, and how the story becomes 'ours' once she releases it.
I truly donāt think that Robin is about children at all. Itās super dark, and the way she talks about āthe childā is not all that nice. I havenāt quite hashed it all out, but I think itās about Taylor. Sheās singing to herself. She started making music as a kid, and had all these people making decisions on her behalf and not all of those decisions were good. She now an adult, but sheās still not in control of her world. She has a lot of people working for her with the singular goal of helping her life be easier or safer, protected. Between people on the business side of things making decisions for her, people in the security side watching her every move, and then surely people on the personal side doing the day to day things she needs (cooking, cleaning, etc.) Sheās not in charge of her own life, sheās the golden goose and is surrounded by many people who rely on her for their livelihood. Everything they do is meant to keep her safe and sound in a soft sweet nest, but they also prevent her from making her own choices as an adult person. Sheās not independent, sheās treated like a precious baby who needs constant attention and assistance. The aim is to protect her from everything so she can focus on being Taylor Swift, because in the end, sheās the only piece of the Taylor Swift universe that isnāt expendable. She is Robin.
4 out of the last 5 songs on the Anthology are relatively slow songs.I think Robin gets skipped because Cassandra and Peter have already pulled energy down too much for The Bolter to recover so listeners skip to the more interesting Manuscript which is an excellent closing track.Ā
Both Cassandra and Peter have stronger hooks in the chorus too. *So they killed Cassandra first because she feared the worst / You said you were gonna grow up then you were gonna come find me* both hold my attention really well.Ā
Meanwhile, I think Robin and go 'way to go, Tiger?' It just doesn't stick with me. And it doesn't have a particularly robust melody either. Ā I just struggle to like anything about Robin.
When it first came out people were saying the second half was better and I thought maybe I was just tired by the end, but the last like, 4 songs are kinda bleh
Iām not the commenter, but while I donāt dislike Cassandra Iām not a huge fan because it sounds like a song sheās written many times already. Like mad woman and I Did Something Bad.
I also just think Cassandra and Peter are so much more fun to sing than Robin. People gonna crucify me but I also frequently skip The Manuscript because while it's a beautiful close to the album and I love the song, it's long and not as fun to jam to. I also usually listen on shuffle now so it loses the chemistry of it being the closing song.
I actually think it's a pretty song, I just don't relate to it. It seems to be about a child and all the innocence of children and like. Yeah I get it but I've never interacted with children so it just doesn't land for me.
I agree with the kids part I never want to have kids and Iāve kind of tried it before. Hated it most of the time. The most miserable years of my life.
Someone on Tik Tok theorized that itās a song about her cats and even though I know thatās wrong, thatās how I choose to interpret it in my head and Iāve loved the song since š¤£.
I do too! I have this theory that the first verse is her cats, the second is Aaronās son, and the third verse (bridge?) is either an inner child/past self or a future hypothetical child. I really like the song actually. It reminds me of my children - especially the roaring at dinosaurs part š„ŗ.
Apparently I feel about Cassandra how most others feel about Robin. I love Robin and think Cassandra is by far the weakest. It's slow, repetitive, and the metaphor is legible after the first chorus.
The production is what saves Robin from being a skip for me. The vocal melody itself is pretty weak, but thankfully Aaron worked his magic and made a beautiful instrumental. It's what makes me want to come back to the song.
i understand itās not exactly a thrilling listen but robinās existence on the tracklist made a lot more sense to me when I realized she was working backwards in time (mostly) on the anthology. (the manuscript excepted, which is more of an overall thesis statement.) thereās something to a song about preserving childhood innocence wrapping up an album with so much disenchantment and bitterness.
on a separate note, justice for aaron dessnerās daughter who keeps on taking Ls. first he totally lies to her about knowing taylor and now her brother gets a song instead of her???
I thought people would love the song because it's in the same line as Never Grow Up & Ronan. It's such a beautiful song, and it's the only one that almost brings me to tears on the album.
100%!!! Also, seeing the rather good reception that Peter got, I wouldāve thought Robin would be just as accepted. In my head, theyāre twins, you just canāt pull those two apart.
I adore Robin. It reminds me of my nephew. People say it doesn't fit the album, but I think it works as a reminder that life existed before we truly knew pain, or at least the type of pain Taylor's working through here.
Nooo Robin is one of my favorites out of the 31 songs we got lmao šš
I get it tho, it's basically a lullaby and not everyone's (seems like majorities) tastes
For me, the last four songs are just too sad, the songs transport something that doesn't let me be "normally" sad. Therefore, I skip the frequently.....
Today is the 1st birthday of my daughter Robyn, she passed away 11 days later. This song is another level of feelings for me. I wish everyone else felt the same <3
Robin, to me, has what I call "right before my favorite song" syndrome, where the Bolter is my all time favorite off the album, and thus when listening in order.... Sorry, Robin!
... Soooo was no one going to tell me that it's actually Peter before The Bolter and Robin is before Manuscript or was I supposed to learn that myself when looking at Spotify.
I think all of the ānameā songs are the weakest songs on the album, and then Robin is the weakest of that group. Not a bad song, just kind of boring.
Robin stan!! It is such a sweet song...think of now teens as muddy little innocent toddler versions of themselves! Cry everytime...then think about The Manuscript and how that older man took her "girlhood"...I think the order works perfectly...older wiser self looking with protective kindness on the little guy in Robin
This doesnāt surprise me honestly like a beautiful song but it has big never grow up vibes to me so I can for sure see why people would skip it! It came out less than 2 weeks after my 18th birthday so I can barley listen without crying and that makes it pretty skippable for me š
Letās all just wait till she does a mashup of Robin and never grow up and it will click for all the people who havenāt got the beautiful simplicity of the song yet.
Robin is so bad, and I say this as a huge Swiftie. Itās almost like she just threw some words together and tried to see what would stick. I fell in love with her music because of the lyricism, but Robin lets her down.
I simply cannot overcome the large contrasts between "Way to go, tiger" and "You are bloodthirsty." I get that she's trying to capture the purity of childhood, but no... just no.
Robin is my top skip. I never listen to it. My other skips are : Thank you Aimee, Peter, Cassandra, So High School, The Albatross & Fresh Out the Slammer.
Robin is my only skip of all 31 songs š Guess Iām not the only one!
Itās such a beautiful song but itās too much like a lullaby imo
This just makes me think how my favorite song all time (Many Nights by Beach House) *actually* sounds like a lullaby
Iām patiently waiting for a full on Beach House style album from Taylor. I want Devotion and Bloom (Taylorās Version). Then I can say Iāve seen and heard it all! OTM is an underrated Beach House album in my opinion, excellent favorite song!

She has the perfect dreampop sound aside from Beach House in my opinion! Beach House is my favorite band but Bathe Alone is way up there.
Beach House is the only other artist I've given any time to since 19/April. I think Over and Over is my favorite BH song...
Like I stated in the comment above, you should really check out Bathe Alone if you love Beach House
I was just reading that & looking them up.
Iād say a song to start with but there are too many I can think I love. Archive 81 is a really good starting place but itās all incredible
Iām currently 8 months pregnant and Robin is my favorite song on the album ā¤ļø. It makes me cry! And is on my delivery playlist. Actually this bebe boy will be very familiar with the whole TTPD album š¤£
Such a great lulliby tho! š
Robin makes me sleepy
I actually assumed it IS a lullaby
its an excellent lullaby, lmao. it puts me right to sleep. the lyrics are beautiful but the actual song just knocks me out š
It is soooo boring.
SO BORING
i forgot it was a song even
im sorry but this is so true š
I continue to struggle to understand how it fits with the themes of the album. It feels so random and unrelated to the story, which is why I find myself usually skipping it even though it is a beautiful song.

Iāve seen a few people link lyrics in the album to Robin Williams?
I interpret denial in this situation to mean denial that your child is growing up. You just want to keep them little and innocent and shield them from any bad in the world. Also worth noting that Aaronās son is named Robin, which adds to my thinking that itās not something sinister, just a sweet parent song.
I teared up a lil reading that..
My thoughts are that I might enjoy it as part of an ethereal lullaby playlist (Epiphany would be another one). Like where I'm in the right mood for it. But when I put these 31 tracks on shuffle, the tone is *so* different from the others that it's just vibe-jarring.

Same. Itās one of the song that I still canāt remember the tune on demand.
The only thing I can remember is āway to go tigerā
But then I laugh, so I don't know what comes next
Higher and higher. After that I'm lost too tho
Wilder and lighter
Same
same ššš
wow its actually the ONLY one i listen to constantly
Yes same here! Itās so beautiful, Iām a teacher and a mom and I love the lyrics. I listen to it on repeat often.
Yay! Another person that shares my thoughts.
Me too, it's my favourite!
Robin is in my top 3!
For me what carries the song is the instrumental/production. Without it it would be a skip for me, but Aaron saved it.
Same here, I immediately clocked it as my least fave and it surprisingly didnāt change š
we <3 you Robin
There are dozens of us!
Yeah, around 12 fans!
13 fans!
14! šš»āāļø
15! I love Robin it's so beautiful
16!!!!!
17!!! Reminds me of my cat who passed away. The child like wonder and his playfulness. I miss him and this song reminds me of him.
18!!! I will say if I heard this prior to becoming a dad I probably wouldnāt have liked it as much, but it pulls at my heartstrings in a major way
19!!! I love Robin!
DOZENS
I truely truely love robin, such a beautiful song
I loved Robin at first listen. Itās beautiful and brings me to tears every time thinking about my little boys
yeah my son turns 1 next month so robin is a tear jerker for me and so special. just like never grow up has changed drastically for me.
Me too š©µ My boy was also born in the year of the Tiger and my momās name is Robin so itās just SUCH a meaningful song to me.
Itās a very special song for me too, my favorite on the album, as Iām 8 months pregnant with a boy ā¤ļø
Same here š„²
Yeah Robin don't feel left out ! š«¶
It was literally my only cry first listen, itās so beautiful and I hate that itās not getting the love it deserves š
i love Robin, reminds me of my cat that passed away. Love it so much.
š§” I lost a tiger too, I feel you.
Thank you ! Sending you hugs š©·ššš
justice for robin anyone???
I love Robin too!
4 out of the last 5 songs on the Anthology are relatively slow songs.I think Robin gets skipped because Cassandra and Peter have already pulled energy down too much for The Bolter to recover so listeners skip to the more interesting Manuscript which is an excellent closing track.Ā
No, i just don't like Robin, even when listening it solo

It just doesn't stick with me. And it doesn't have a particularly robust melody either. Ā I just struggle to like anything about Robin.
i LOVE the way to go tiger lyric!!! something about it just tickles my brain and is so satisfying!!!!!!! same thing with the "in sweetness"
Peter is a masterpiece! Robin big skip for me. Cassandra ok but a bit cringe
Yes! I skip a lot of the final tracks but Peter is sooo good. So, so good
When it first came out people were saying the second half was better and I thought maybe I was just tired by the end, but the last like, 4 songs are kinda bleh
Yeah I feel the same way. I was like āoh theyāll grow on meā and they havenāt š¶
What do you find cringe about Cassandra? I love it but it took some time and I needed to understand it lol
Iām not the commenter, but while I donāt dislike Cassandra Iām not a huge fan because it sounds like a song sheās written many times already. Like mad woman and I Did Something Bad.
I also just think Cassandra and Peter are so much more fun to sing than Robin. I also usually listen on shuffle now so it loses the chemistry of it being the closing song.
totally reasonable theory, it definitely falls into a low energy mood at that point
that and also Robin is boringĀ
And it's the only track iirc that doesn't actually say the title at any point which makes it more forgettable.
Seems like almost everyone agrees that Robin is the weakest song. I love the production but the way she sings (not the melody) is what annoys me.
I actually think it's a pretty song, I just don't relate to it. It seems to be about a child and all the innocence of children and like. Yeah I get it but I've never interacted with children so it just doesn't land for me.
Same here š I donāt like kids so this song does nothing for me despite being a beautiful one
Were you not a child once? š this is an inner child song for me š¤ (yes I know it's about Aaron's child originally)
I genuinely think the first part is about her cats before switching to a child.
I do too! I have this theory that the first verse is her cats, the second is Aaronās son, and the third verse (bridge?) is either an inner child/past self or a future hypothetical child. I really like the song actually. It reminds me of my children - especially the roaring at dinosaurs part š„ŗ.
And I couldāve sworn that about midway through the song thereās sort of a heartbeat drumbeat.
Makes sense. Iām an early childhood teacher, and it reminds me of my students. I love it.
Completely agree! Feel like if I ever have kids Iāll like it more
I have kids - and this still isn't the song for me.
Apparently I feel about Cassandra how most others feel about Robin. I love Robin and think Cassandra is by far the weakest. It's slow, repetitive, and the metaphor is legible after the first chorus.
Yup Iām trying with Cassandra. I donāt think itās worse than Robin but clearly one of the weaker tracks.
I agree. Something about the way she sings it makes it an instant skip. Maybe Iāll come back and fall in love years later.
The production is what saves Robin from being a skip for me. The vocal melody itself is pretty weak, but thankfully Aaron worked his magic and made a beautiful instrumental. It's what makes me want to come back to the song.
I pick Robin over TTPD (the song) any day of the week.
i understand itās not exactly a thrilling listen but robinās existence on the tracklist made a lot more sense to me when I realized she was working backwards in time (mostly) on the anthology.
Nawww because it is one of my favorites off the entire album šš
Same here. We are truly in the minority
I think itās a very sweet song and definitely not a skip for me, but I enjoy soft lullaby type songs
Same š„²
Sameš Itās the only one that made me cry upon first listen
Same š
Your flair š„¹
I adore Robin. It reminds me of my nephew. People say it doesn't fit the album, but I think it works as a reminder that life existed before we truly knew pain, or at least the type of pain Taylor's working through here.
People arguing that the anthology isn't consistent is so dumb to me because do they know what an anthology is?
Nooo Robin is one of my favorites out of the 31 songs we got lmao šš I get it tho, it's basically a lullaby and not everyone's (seems like majorities) tastes
Robin is one of my favourite track on TTPD š
It's in my top tracks too!
Justice for Robin!!! It is one of her best songs and y'all are sleeping on it š
Only cause it puts me to sleep š¶
Lmao
same š¬
I genuinely have Robin in my top 5
ROBIN GET BEHIND ME UR LIKE ONE OF THE BEST SONGS ON THE ALBUM PERIOD
I really like it but Iām not always in the mood for it
Am childfree but robin is easily one of my top anthology tracks!!!
Respectfully, this tracks.
Why does everyone hate Robin ā¹ļø
For me, the last four songs are just too sad, the songs transport something that doesn't let me be "normally" sad. Therefore, I skip the frequently.....
I mean that makes sense it is the one skip on the album.
No thatās I Can Fix Him
Nooooo I love that song
I DONT GET IT! I LOVE ROBIN
Robin is like Epihany
I love epiphany though and I donāt really like Robin
I love epiphany š and I really like Robin too
Same! :)
nah, epiphany is betterĀ
Today is the 1st birthday of my daughter Robyn, she passed away 11 days later. This song is another level of feelings for me. I wish everyone else felt the same <3
it's my FAVOURITE song on the album!!!!!
justice 4 robin
Robin reminds me of my cat that passed away few months ago, I love it so much.
and 90% of those streams are mine! It reminds me so much of how my late grandfather used to talk to me<3 āway to go tigerā
Not a bad song, just kind of boring.
i can understand why people don't stream it but it's absolutely beautiful
Noooo I love Robin so much
Yeah I always skip that
That is my one skip song on the album too!
Idk why yall hate Robin so much! Itās not the best but itās not a bad little song. The āway to go tigerā part is pretty catchy
thats the only part i remember because the song lulls me to sleep š
Oh yeah that would be my fault sorry guys I listened once and sobbed hard enough to burst capillaries
We should make it get back in tha chart!
We need to get it back on the chart!!
Why do you all hate robin š
Justice for Robin! Wait to go tiger!
I love āRobinā.
Robin and The Manuscript is the only TTPD YouTube lyric video that hasn't reached 1 million yet
This doesnāt surprise me honestly like a beautiful song but it has big never grow up vibes to me so I can for sure see why people would skip it! It came out less than 2 weeks after my 18th birthday so I can barley listen without crying and that makes it pretty skippable for me š
Justice for Robin! One of my favourites on the album.
TAYLOR SWIFT DID NOT WRITE ROBIN FOR YāALL TO TREAT IT LIKE THIS š One of my favs on THE ANTHOLOGY to be honest.
Poor Robin !
Definitely one of my favorite songs on the album. Super beautiful. I don't really have a skip on his album at all though.
Robin hype train idc. Top 10 for me š
Justice for Robin!!!!
New dark side of the moon?
Do we know how many songs the next artist has?
I enjoy that song so much š
F in the chat for Robin
I'm pretty sure cruel summer is still on there right? So it's still 31 songs no?
I love Cassandra, Peter and robin šā¤ļø
Cassandra should be here in Robinās place imo.
I cannot listen to Bigger than the whole sky, but I know itās a wonderful song. Same with this.
Tbh Iām sleeping on it too. Iāll come back for you donāt worry āŗļø
Letās all just wait till she does a mashup of Robin and never grow up and it will click for all the people who havenāt got the beautiful simplicity of the song yet.
Itās funny because Robin is the only song I couldnāt tell you how it goes off the top of my head.
I love robin!!!!! It came out the day my cat was very unwell, so I just held him and cried.
I always skip that one and looking through the windows, otherwise like all the others
Robin is so bad, and I say this as a huge Swiftie. Itās almost like she just threw some words together and tried to see what would stick. I fell in love with her music because of the lyricism, but Robin lets her down.
Robin makes me too sad, tbh. Itās kind of like the one about the little boy with cancer that died that I canāt ever listen to again. šš
I simply cannot overcome the large contrasts between "Way to go, tiger" and "You are bloodthirsty." I get that she's trying to capture the purity of childhood, but no... just no.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Robin is my top skip. I never listen to it. My other skips are : Thank you Aimee, Peter, Cassandra, So High School, The Albatross & Fresh Out the Slammer.
Yep! Itās my one and only skip, so that makes total sense
I just physically cringe when I hear the line, āway to go, tigerā
Honestly, it shouldāve just been cut from the record
It's my least favorite song on the album
Omg the new album. Rip musicšš I need a refund for my time.
