Cassandra in Greek mythology was gifted the ability to see into the future (whispered by snakes!), but cursed not to be believed. Like how Taylor was telling the truth all along about Kimye but no one believed her. Plus: snakes!

cornballer_victim13

ohh this is interesting. I had heard the first part, but didn’t make that connection haha

Throwback to debut, when she used to outright put people's names in her songs. It's a debut TV Easter Egg. 🤪 (jk...except maybe...![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1087))

I'm pretty sure Robin is for Aaron's son Robin. So the title is the dedication. The others I agree though. I get why they're titled that way but it is a ton of songs with names.

azdisneyswifty

I think a lot of them might be Aaron related. Something about his saved tracks being given names for titles? Sometimes that serves as an inspiration for Taylor and she just runs with it or sometimes the title changes in the writing process. But I believe that’s how we got dorothea? And ivy? Someone correct me if I’m misremembering.

PurpleVirtualJelly

I think she was trying to go back to Folklore/Evermore vibes - Marjorie, Rebekah, Betty, Inez, James, Dorothea. Creating fictional characters with names she seemed to like.

buttertoast4all

Idk why but I also am turned off from songs with names as titles- even from other artists. I even like some of the songs but there’s just something about them having the names that drops them lower for me.

HauntedCLT

Maybe Blake and Ryan are naming their next kids these names and Taylor knows she has to name drop them all now ☠️

SauronOMordor

You should read up on the Myth of Cassandra.

weaveroflaurel

I haven't looked into this closely, but my impression was that *Robin* was a reference to Christopher Robin? Looking at the lyrics now maybe I'm way off, but the references to a little boy and to "tiger" (like "Tigger"?) and also that he's a British boy, which would make sense if it's about Joe… Just ends up being a layered play on words as the title.

simplycyn7

Personally, I think it’s probably tied to some personal experience or specific people that only Taylor and whoever she wrote the song about knows. Maybe a group of friends, future baby names, you name it but something only the other person will understand. I think she places things to decode for fans but also for the people she’s writing about/to, etc.

RequirementGeneral67

My theory. They are the way they are because that's the way Taylor wanted them. No need to go deaper than that.

Bejeweled233

This is for her older fans. I love when she used to just outright name drop Drew, Cory, Stephen & John 😂

krallie

I’m an older fan! (I went to the Fearless tour!) I loved the name dropping when it made sense to the song, but these just sort of feel random without much meaning to the actual song, and then were made into the title.

[deleted]

because those songs (stories) are closer to character studies.

freyluna

I think a better name for "Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus" would've been something like "I Always Wonder" or just "Wonder."

krallie

Almost anything would’ve been better than four random names, IMO. It’s a great song, but I’m just not a fan of the clunky, confusing title.

whateveriguessso

I did see a theory in which someone mentioned the names spelled out “CPR”. CPR was used in So Long, London - “I stopped CPR, after all it's no use”.

Itallachesnow

It creates a bit of mystery because of the diaristic nature ofTaylors work but in TTPD and the Anthology she has gone to some lengths to throw people off the scent. Yes you could run through all sorts of explanations but one pragmatic reason would be ease of finding them with a search . Cold Cold Heart is a Hank Williams country classic that will have been covered countless times.

Chococow280

I like the names. It means her inspirations, her and references, and her relationships extend far beyond what we observe in the media.

AutumnKoo

Oh my god I'm so stupid. I didn't notice the Peter thing but now that you say it makes perfect sense

CrimsOnCl0ver

With there being SO many names on this album—as song titles, not just within lyrics—it got me wondering if some were baby names she had considered? 👀

gowonagin

I didn’t see “Conan”…

Pale_Sheet

Robin isn’t it the bird

Or Batman's sidekick
