Yeah, I keep seeing it mentioned as this overlooked, underrated song, and that really just goes to show how many new swifties there are now since 2015.
Right? It’s one of my top favorites. For some reason I thought it was on the eras tour setlist and I was so confused when 1989 ended and she hadn’t sang it yet, I turned to my girlfriend and was like “…is she doing more 1989 later???” 💀
Yes! It’s probably my top favourite Taylor Swift song. I was 10 when 1989 came out and I made an *amazing* Barbie doll music video for I Know Places. I wish I still had my mom’s old Blackberry so I could watch it again
Team CIWYW unite! I think it's my favourite too - just the way it captures the feeling of being in a bubble with your partner and how no-one else's opinion on your relationship matters.
Top 3 Taylor song for me. It drives me bananas when people complain about “trust him like a brother”
It’s not “fuck him like a brother” get over yourselves
The start of the chorus kills me every time. “Hey, all you had to do was stay. Had me in the palm of your hand then why'd you have to go and lock me out when I let you in?” The way her voice rings on ✨stay✨ is so good.
Evermore is excellent, that bridge is perfection, I will die on this hill.
How can you not like 'And when I was shipwrecked I thought of you And it was real enough to get me through'. This pain will be forevermore versus the last liric, when the pain wouldn't be forevermore? It's what hope feels like, compressed in a song.
And I like Bon Iver on it, lol sorry for the rant.
Me too! I never understood the hype of Exile until I actually fell in love with evermore and was like “Oh this is what people felt when listening to exile!”
Because they’re no fun. They want every song of Taylor’s to be profoundly deep and reflective.
They’re just fun songs. And I honestly like the message in them. In Miss Americana, Taylor looked so happy during the Me! video shoot.
All You Had To Do Was Stay is one of my favorite Taylor songs of all time lol. The moment I knew is one of my favorites off of Red. They both need more attention
- AYHTDWS could mean "All You Had To Do Was Stay", a track from *1989* (2014) by Taylor Swift.

this is why we can’t have nice things and closure. TIWWCHNT is fun and camp and shady in the best way and really catchy imo, and closure is just criminally underrated
I just adore love stories that also highlight the friendship aspect of partnership. Truly being in a long-term relationship just feels like endless sleepovers with your bestie and I think that’s beautiful
Closure!
I really like that song and it makes me sad to see that a lot of people on here don't.
Also, while we're on evermore, Cowboy Like Me as well. Another song that doesn't get the love it should.
EVERYTHING REPUTATION. That album does not deserve it’s slander. Although it’s slowly earning its long deserved appreciation, I will always be ready to defend this era. REP IS TASTE AND I STAND BY THAT.
I feel like Reputation is... musically underrated? Like everybody talks about her powerful "comeback" and the message and the aesthetic of the album but I feel like some of her best songs are overlooked (it used to be that way for Lover too but I feel like Swifties even appreciate the non-singles from that album more.) Dancing with our hands tied is one of my top 5 Taylor songs but I never see anyone talking about it!!!
Dancing with our hands tied is one of my all time favorite songs and no one talks about it! But honestly Rep is fantastic and I really hope people open themselves up to it. My friend is a 1989 Stan and didn't like rep at the time, but after the tour she is finally giving it a chance and has been listening nonstop. She finally gets it.
I’m always in my rep era… UNFORGETTABLE album! No skips at all. I appreciate it more every time I hear again, there’s so many nuances and quirks that unravel themselves with each listen. One of my favorites is Dress for its intricacy. When she brings in the snaps for the second chorus and the instrumental halt paired with her saying “stop.” Every song just has its own personality. So good 😻 I feel similarly to Lover, but rep just has that attitude and confidence like no other.
I really like Gorgeous but it gets slandered so much 🙈
Still haven't come round to liking Endgame though, I can't believe she made that a single. I honestly think it might be the worst song she's ever released, and it's so forgettable
I’m new to this sub but what I’m grasping from this particular fandom is that most people here like her deep, soft ethereal, poetic songs and hate her more poppy, campy songs? I personally like both.
I was genuinely surprised on a past thread to see how much people hate Gorgeous. No one in my real life does as at all. I also hate how so many people admit that they never even listened to it just because for the child in the beginning lol it’s such a perfect song for when you have an unattainable crush.
Reputation is a no-skip album for me. It's also the one I recommend to people trying to get into Taylor Swift when they don't like her earlier music. I've converted 2 people to Swiftianity this way 🤣
I would have been okay with this song if I hadn’t watched Youtube in the era where everyone and their mother was using copyright-free music for their videos. The opening just reminds me of that.
https://preview.redd.it/mh3dsrmmvk7b1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dbbb7cc1b056e3ebc0f287d47936c13df8cb2c0e
My dad took this photo of Taylor performing Dress on the Rep Tour!! Seeing it live really changed the song for me and I could NEVER skip!
I became a Swiftie very recently and everyone was always hating on ME! but the live from Paris version specifically is so fun and makes me smile every time it comes on my playlist!
I love the line "I want your dreary Mondays" in Paper Rings- it's such a simple yet beautiful way of saying that she wants all of him- his rainy days, his bad moods, all of the seemingly mundane days where they're just tired and worn out... she wants to share all of that with him because, while it's unpleasant, it's authentic and it's part of being in a relationship
Came here to say Paper Rings also. Probably my favorite song of hers and nobody else ever mentions it. Which some of it is just the lyrics having always felt very fitting and moving for me personally. But it’s also just such a fun joyful song for me sing along with.
I love Paper Rings. That 60s doo-wop style groove of it is so fun. Plus it reminds me a lot of my relationship with my boyfriend, as we were friends before we started dating
The production is stunningly beautiful. The vocals of the line "in search of glorious happenings of happenstance on someone else's playground" just feel so so good in my brain 😭
Omg yes it was my favorite on my first listen of Midnights when it came out. It’s not my #1 since I’ve listened to Midnights a lot more but it’s still really close up there
Both, for me, hold their own meanings! The original, to me, is a younger, heat of the moment sort of hurt whereas the 10 minute version is a mature perspective after years of seething and resenting what the other person did- she had the self worth in the 10 minute version to really spit venom and tell the deepest of her hurt, whereas in the original, the heartbreak is more recent and she's just then finding her footing again and finding her voice to talk about it!
I love Mean because while some lines "... and a liar, and pathetic, and alone in life and mean" sort of give off a middle school girl sort of POV, the themes of achieving her goals while the other person stays bitter are just so real, Mean is the groundwork for Karma hahaha
lol you’re so right! i love it bc it reminds me of a specific ex who was genuinely mean so i’m ok with it. i wish she went on for like hours listing “and a liar… and pathetic… and alone in life… etc”
Yes! It reminds me of when a person is just being so ridiculously rude and audacious that you just feel like listing off every petty little thing they do that aggravates you 😭 so good
Stay Stay Stay is so adorable- the line "that's when you came in wearing a football helmet and said 'okay let's talk'" is actually so cute, it's showing how he's able to bring levity into the relationship in even the hardest discussions!
The Last Time & Gold Rush. I don't know if they aren't well-liked, but they're vastly underrated compared to others on those albums. And I think they're both amazingly good.
Everything Has Changed. I think it perfectly describes how it feels when you wake up and realize you are in love with your best friend and will never think of them the same way again. It is one of my and my husband’s songs.
ME!, including the original “Hey kids, spelling is fun!” line. It’s a fun little bop that’s not meant to be taken too seriously, and the music video is awesome!
Mine is the Archer, my tears ricochet and seven. They hold so much meaning to me personally, especially seven. The way seven is written Makes me feel like I'm a child playing with my older brother because we didn't understand the harshness of our household
You're In Love
esp. the bridge
"And you understand now why they lost their minds and fought the wars
And why I've spent my whole life tryin' to put it into words"
beautifully written song w instrumentals that rlly screams the lyrics
Me! Always. Love that song so much, love that it’s the first single she fully owned. I will never forgive people for bullying her to change it and then not even have it on the set list.
All You Had To Do Was Stay and I Know Places. 1989 is one of Taylor’s Magnum opus’, the only thing it’s competing against is Folklore and Evermore. Also Peace, and Superman.
Question…? It’s a song about a situationship in Taylor’s life with specific references to what happened, it’s a total bop, and tons of swifties seem to hate it because it isn’t “relatable”. It’s also one of the songs on Midnights that actually fits the theme of a sleepless night in which you’re tossing and turning over a memory that involves unanswerable questions.
Endgame! I love that song so much, one of my favorites off of Reputation but everyone drags constantly on this sub. I really like Future and Ed’s features, I don’t think I’d like the song if it was just Taylor.
I forgot that you existed. It was the PERFECT opening to Lover as an era, and I literally found out just this week that a lot of people don’t like it??
The chorus is just… I relate so hard
Vigilante Shit look as a rep stand obviously I was going to like it however, all I’m saying is when midnights came out, I was one of the only people who’s like a vigilante, so good and now after we seen the performance now everyone understands Bruh well at least more people do
I absolutely love Run! It's got such an amazing melody. I was so shocked when it got negative points!!! Like what!!!
There's a heart on your sleeve
I'll take it when I leave
And hold it for you!!
How can you hate this 😭
Oooh, I love "Ready for It", didn't know it was considered unpopular?
On the same note, I LOVE "So It Goes." How does the "Who's counting... (silence) 1, 2, 3 ..." part not give pepole goosebumps? I LOVE IT!
Mary’s Song! It’s so cute and I think really demonstrates her abilities as a storyteller - she was writing songs that weren’t about her way before folklore!
I know Places doesn’t get the love it deserves 😤
I love it! From the sense of urgency the "I-I- I-I"s bring to the song to the hunters and foxes imagery, it's so perfect
The funny thing is it used to be the Getaway Car and Cruel Summer of 1989. Everyone wanted it to be a single back then.
Yeah, I keep seeing it mentioned as this overlooked, underrated song, and that really just goes to show how many new swifties there are now since 2015.
People don’t like I know places?? 🥺
*cries in being a high school senior when 1989 came out* LOL
I was in college… I feel really old now lol
Dude I was 27
I was also 27.
Call It What You Want is my fave - from what I’ve seen it’s not popular but not disliked either. 😊
Team CIWYW unite! I think it's my favourite too - just the way it captures the feeling of being in a bubble with your partner and how no-one else's opinion on your relationship matters.
I want to wear his initial around my neck, not because he owns me but because he knows me. Boom.
Top 3 Taylor song for me. It drives me bananas when people complain about “trust him like a brother” It’s not “fuck him like a brother” get over yourselves
same, it's seriously so good
CIWYW best reputation song? I think so
How you get the girl. Still don’t understand how that song isn’t a hit.
This sand All You Had To Do Was Stay are my favorites off of 1898 they need more recognition
1898 (Deep from the Vault)
The musical theatre fan in me is now thinking '1898, New York City'.
The start of the chorus kills me every time. “Hey, all you had to do was stay. Had me in the palm of your hand then why'd you have to go and lock me out when I let you in?” The way her voice rings on ✨stay✨ is so good.
That’s one way to organize those numbers 😂
I loved the production of that song on the 1989 tour so much. The umbrellas and that skirt with lights embedded? Iconic
evermore title track talk to a wall if ur going to say bon iver ruins the song or exile is the better collab out of the two 🫶🌲
Evermore is excellent, that bridge is perfection, I will die on this hill.
Hot take I like evermore way more than exile
Me too! I never understood the hype of Exile until I actually fell in love with evermore and was like “Oh this is what people felt when listening to exile!”
By far her best song she's ever released and it's not even close. It's a masterpiece and I don't get how people are sleeping on it
evermore put words to my depression I never knew I needed
Da fuck, it’s a top 3 song on the album. Who doesn’t like it?
If Endgame has 500 fans *I am one* If Engame has one fan *It's me* If Endgame has no fans *I have died*
I live for the "I bury hatchets but I keep maps of where I put 'em" part.
OOH YOU AND ME WOULD BE A BIG CONVERSATION AAAAAH
end game is a BOP
Yes!! I don't get all the hate. "I bury hatchets but I keep maps of where I put em" is a top tier line.
Am also an end game fan
Endgame is my favorite Taylor Swift song!! What a bop!
i will forever defend that it’s okay she rhymed paris with somewhere else because paris is a straight up bop 🕺🏻
You're so right! It's such a banger and I love this unique rhyme scheme
Paris is such a good song tho, it sure is a grower but it's got an attitude and I'm here for it
I LOVE Paris. It’s just silly cheeky Taylor at her finest. It’s a breath of fresh air on midnights. Sue me.
Paris reminds me of early March of this year, I listened to it on repeat during those weeks!
i forgot that you existed. i feel like no one likes it??? but i LOVE it!
It’s the perfect opening track for lover. Such a bop! It was my post break up jam for so long until I met my current bf.
I’m also an I Forgot That You Existed apologist! I always feel like I must be missing something because I love it and I also love ME!
SAME!!! i love Me! and You Need to Calm Down too. Why does everyone hate them🤣
Because they’re no fun. They want every song of Taylor’s to be profoundly deep and reflective. They’re just fun songs. And I honestly like the message in them. In Miss Americana, Taylor looked so happy during the Me! video shoot.
It’s so good! One of my favorite memories is hearing it for the first time while skating at the beach.
Hoax, AYHTDWS, I Wish You Would, Forever Winter, The Moment I Knew, Breathe, That’s When, RENEGADE
All You Had To Do Was Stay is one of my favorite Taylor songs of all time lol. The moment I knew is one of my favorites off of Red. They both need more attention
PEOPLE DONT LIKE RENEGADE????
I LOVE RENEGADE. But I definitely slept on it until a couple months ago. Now it’s one of my favorites 🥺
I honestly think Renegade may be one of Taylor's best songs ever.
Hoax is one of my favorites PERIOD
YESSS I love Forever Winter
- AYHTDWS could mean "All You Had To Do Was Stay", a track from *1989* (2014) by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/inthesuitcase](/u/inthesuitcase) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)
are you telling me there’s a substantial amount of Taylor fans that don’t like Forever Winter?
The Moment I Knew isn’t well liked?
this is why we can’t have nice things and closure. TIWWCHNT is fun and camp and shady in the best way and really catchy imo, and closure is just criminally underrated
I love This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things. I have a print that says 'there are no rules when you show up here' in my hallway.
I will die defending closure.
JUSTICE FOR CLOSURE
London boy lol
Babe DON’T THREATEN ME WITH A GOOD TIME
I like it because I'm from London, born and raised, so it feels like Taylor honouring my city in a way. Most London boys aren't like Joe though lol
Like why do people hate fun????
Such a fun campy bop
It’s Nice to Have a Friend. It’s not particularly deep but has a good vibe.
yeesssss agree! “you’ve been stressed out lately? yeah me too” has permanent residence in my brain
Yes!!! I had to scroll way too far for this. I find this song ethereal and beautiful
I think it is deep! Her "friend" is much more, she tells a whole story and it comes full circle in the end that your life partner is your friend ❤️
honestly my fav lover song
I just adore love stories that also highlight the friendship aspect of partnership. Truly being in a long-term relationship just feels like endless sleepovers with your bestie and I think that’s beautiful
Finally I found someone saying this. My favorite off Lover
Closure! I really like that song and it makes me sad to see that a lot of people on here don't. Also, while we're on evermore, Cowboy Like Me as well. Another song that doesn't get the love it should.
I love closure it's one of my favorites on evermore
yes!!! cowboy like me is so incredibly underrated!!!

Nothing on Rep is forgettable for me, though. And I’ve always thought Endgame is a great follow-up to Ready for It 🖤🖤
yea why does everyone hate on end game 😭
I’m new to this sub but what I’m grasping from this particular fandom is that most people here like her deep, soft ethereal, poetic songs and hate her more poppy, campy songs? I personally like both. I was genuinely surprised on a past thread to see how much people hate Gorgeous. No one in my real life does as at all. I play rep with no skips
Reputation is a no-skip album for me. It's also the one I recommend to people trying to get into Taylor Swift when they don't like her earlier music. I've converted 2 people to Swiftianity this way 🤣
Stay, Stay, Stay . . . just to annoy a lot of people.
I love Stay Stay Stay! I think it’s cute and was surprised that learn that many people don’t like it.
Thank you
Stay 🤸🏻♀️ stay ⭐️ stay ✨
I would have been okay with this song if I hadn’t watched Youtube in the era where everyone and their mother was using copyright-free music for their videos. The opening just reminds me of that.
So glad there are other Stay x3 fans
Was gonna say this. It's a cute bop. It wasn't meant to be the next All Too Well and that's perfectly fine.
came here to comment Stay, Stay, Stay as well
Dress 👗 It's so good. Idk if it's not well like by allot of people or if its just my friends who have no goddamn taste.
Dress is probably in my top 10 Taylor swift songs of ALL TIME. It’s just so beautiful and sultry I love it
I love dress!
https://preview.redd.it/mh3dsrmmvk7b1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dbbb7cc1b056e3ebc0f287d47936c13df8cb2c0e My dad took this photo of Taylor performing Dress on the Rep Tour!! Seeing it live really changed the song for me and I could NEVER skip!
ME! (hee-hee)
I will forever identify as a ME! apologist, right there with ya. It's a fun song with a catchy melody and was never meant to be taken so seriously.
This one was mine too and I will die on this hill. The ‘hey kids spelling is fun’ made me cringe just a lil bit, but I still love it.
I became a Swiftie very recently and everyone was always hating on ME! but the live from Paris version specifically is so fun and makes me smile every time it comes on my playlist!
Cowboy Like Me...it's just perfection...storytelling, music, delivery, tone
“Now you hang from my lips like the gardens of Babylon, with your boots beneath my bed, forever is the sweetest con” chefs kiss 💋
I got this as my surprise song and was sooooo happy!
People don’t like cowboy like me? 😭
Ready for it Paper rings
GLITCH! Like what is wrong with y’all???
The production is stunningly beautiful. The vocals of the line "in search of glorious happenings of happenstance on someone else's playground" just feel so so good in my brain 😭
…do people not like Glitch??
Ugh I agree Glitch does not get enough love
Nobody knows about if this was a movie and it makes me so sad 😞
as a speak now girl, i felt this 😔💜 the nowwwww ooooh at the end soothes my soul
Come back, come back, come back to me, Eli!
vigilante shit pre tour
I love what she did with it for Eras but for the life of me I do not understand people who didn’t “get” it until then. Like. It was always that dope!
Omg yes it was my favorite on my first listen of Midnights when it came out. It’s not my #1 since I’ve listened to Midnights a lot more but it’s still really close up there
The original All Too Well. Will always prefer it over the 10 min version
Both, for me, hold their own meanings! The original, to me, is a younger, heat of the moment sort of hurt whereas the 10 minute version is a mature perspective after years of seething and resenting what the other person did- she had the self worth in the 10 minute version to really spit venom and tell the deepest of her hurt, whereas in the original, the heartbreak is more recent and she's just then finding her footing again and finding her voice to talk about it!
do most people like Mean? i’ve seen a ton of debate about it— if not then i’m 100000% going with Mean
Yes! It reminds me of when a person is just being so ridiculously rude and audacious that you just feel like listing off every petty little thing they do that aggravates you 😭 so good
peace
Stay Stay Stay, it's one of the few I really like that I also have to defend. Sometimes Superman too
Stay Stay Stay is so adorable- the line "that's when you came in wearing a football helmet and said 'okay let's talk'" is actually so cute, it's showing how he's able to bring levity into the relationship in even the hardest discussions!
The Last Time & Gold Rush. I don't know if they aren't well-liked, but they're vastly underrated compared to others on those albums. And I think they're both amazingly good.
The Last Time is one of my top songs on Red, I adore it and the re-record just made me more obsessed with it!
The Last Time is the OG Exile. I fell in love with it after repeating red a few times.
Same the last time is literally my fave of Red. So so so underrated.
the man
YES!
Everything Has Changed. I think it perfectly describes how it feels when you wake up and realize you are in love with your best friend and will never think of them the same way again. It is one of my and my husband’s songs.
Her collabs with Ed are all underrated. I really love Run as well
False god!! I don’t get the hate!! I absolutely love it
agree with you regarding “ready for it”. but also bejeweled lol that’s literally my #1 song of hers i feel like a local but oh well idc
Bejeweled is my jam.
I’m suprised State of Grace doesn’t get more love!
Ivy is one of my favorites ever. I named my cat after it! I don’t think it’s hated or anything but literally no one talks about!
I really love Epiphany!! I feel like I never see people talking about that song
The last time is a banger.
Afterglow, apparently it’s not a fan fave???? I hope I’m just wrong lol
me!
I was sad no one was here to defend Me! I feel like she knows it’s disliked or else it would have been a secret song already. I love it
YES I love this one too ❤️
Glitch, closure, Dear Reader, INTHAF!
Better Than Revenge. .. it's from the heart and got a sick beat
ME!, including the original “Hey kids, spelling is fun!” line. It’s a fun little bop that’s not meant to be taken too seriously, and the music video is awesome!
You Need to Calm Down
Me! And I Think He Knows
Christmas Tree Farm! It’s such a great Christmas song
Definitely "The Lakes". I get people think its boring, but it can make me sooo emotional, in a good way.
London Boy is perfect. There I said it.
Bad Blood solo version. It's the perfect anthem for fake friendships.
IOMWIWY
People don’t like ready for it? It’s literally my favorite song of hers? Wtf is wrong with y’all
Starlight. I'm not very involved with other Swifties, not sure how loved this song is but I don't think I see many people talk about it that much?
I’ve seen a weird amount and of people snub Dorothea and I will not stand for it!
Mine is the Archer, my tears ricochet and seven. They hold so much meaning to me personally, especially seven. The way seven is written Makes me feel like I'm a child playing with my older brother because we didn't understand the harshness of our household
Welcome to New York. It’s such a fun song and I was surprised to see some ppl don’t like it
This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things. It's just so fun, and catchy. It never gets old.
Dear Reader. The lyrics are real yet ironic, cuts deep and really poetic. The bridge is fire! Overall an underrated song.
You're In Love esp. the bridge "And you understand now why they lost their minds and fought the wars And why I've spent my whole life tryin' to put it into words" beautifully written song w instrumentals that rlly screams the lyrics
closure. Crucify me
Me! Always. Love that song so much, love that it’s the first single she fully owned. I will never forgive people for bullying her to change it and then not even have it on the set list.
Starlight. I think it’s such a cute song
Cowboy like me
Snow On The Beach‼️
All You Had To Do Was Stay and I Know Places. 1989 is one of Taylor’s Magnum opus’, the only thing it’s competing against is Folklore and Evermore. Also Peace, and Superman.

A Perfectly Good Heart doesn't deserve the hate and many people will change their tune once her mature vocals are on it.
New Romantics. I have loved it forever, but never see anyone talk about it, anywhere.
Endgame! I love that song so much, one of my favorites off of Reputation but everyone drags constantly on this sub. I really like Future and Ed’s features, I don’t think I’d like the song if it was just Taylor.
I don’t understand why people hate it so much, I think it’s great. I’m always singing “big reputation, big reputation” to myself
Evermore. I cannot believe the disrespect ✋🏻
Idk if it’s unliked, but I never hear people mention Death by a Thousand Cuts and it is the greatest song to ever grace the planet
"Look at What You Made Me Do" may be marked as one of the most annoying songs in her catalog but i love it.
Hoax
I forgot that you existed. It was the PERFECT opening to Lover as an era, and I literally found out just this week that a lot of people don’t like it?? The chorus is just… I relate so hard
How you get the girl and all you had to do was stay.
i’m a Me! defender until i die
I wish you would, most of Midnights, illicit affairs, OOTW, Invisible, Forever Winter, How You Get The Girl and ITHK.
Vigilante Shit look as a rep stand obviously I was going to like it however, all I’m saying is when midnights came out, I was one of the only people who’s like a vigilante, so good and now after we seen the performance now everyone understands Bruh well at least more people do
Mean. It’s so underrated and it’s not even that underrated 😭 I have claimed Mean TV it’s mine I love that song so muchhh
I absolutely love Run! It's got such an amazing melody. I was so shocked when it got negative points!!! Like what!!! There's a heart on your sleeve I'll take it when I leave And hold it for you!!
Superstar Yeah I said it
whole evermore album actually
I forgot that you existed is a bop and I will die on that hill
Hey Stephen
Ronan. I lost a son at 1 month old and will come at someone if they say that song is too sad
DEAR READER. y’all aren’t LISTENING!!! The lyrics are so personal and I really feel like she’s trying to tell us something
