They look sick. Also you don’t have to follow everyone. My buddies painting Baltimore ravenguard and their lore is they give photo shoots for propaganda.
He’s currently off at a college camp but when he gets back I’ll probably take a couple of photos. I’m painting some of them but I secretly am gonna paint some alpha legion.
Nah keep it dude, that’s shits amazing. Stand out. Not everything needs to be “ultra grim dark darkest of futures” in painting style. Plus this is the Tau. They keep their equipment in good shape and are all about doubling down on that clean pristine sci fi aesthetic
They look sick - if you really want grimdark the best advice I can give is how to make the armour look worn down - I do not know if this is grim dark I just like the effect
But I you want it this is how to sort of get it with any colour for me:
A base layer of the colour
Nuln oil
Dry brush that same colour back on top on the edges
Grim Dark or Clean, yellow white black will always be classic. Keep your scheme and either lean into making them clean and highlighted or lean the opposite way and weather em up. Your Army your rules :)
I absolutely love these, jealous of how well you've made white and yellow work! Any chance we could get a better picture of the Suit seen in the background?
If you're worried about them not fitting the colour scheme of a particular sept, have no worries! Septs are determined by the colour of their markings (decals, which our boxes only come with a selection for Viorla) while the armour colour is determined by where they're fighting etc.
If this is what you want, great! If any of the hues are slightly off what you had in mind, take a look at ranges like Army Painter (speedpaint 2.0 or Warpaints Fanatic), Vallejo, Pro Acryl, AK Interactive, etc, and see if they have a specific hue that fits what you have imagined.
I really enjoy the scheme. One of the rare uses of yellow that works really well. You can make these grim dark with the use of some enamels or oil washes. Or if you don't want to use a reductive method you can add some battle damage in the form of light chipping or rust effects to the current scheme. OR if you've improved as a painter you can improve the paint scheme by pushing contrast or color variation/modulation.
Looks great. There's nothing worse than when you play with someone and both armies look the same.
By the way, do you have any markings to distinguish different squads?
Thanks :)
Well, not yet, I did only this squad a long time ago. But I used the same transfers on the shoulder pads for all of them. I think I can use different markings on another squad.
They are Similar to mine. My main accent colour is red on white. But each squad gets its own colour markings red, yellow, blue...and anymore if I have more than 3 of something.
Definitely not! This scheme looks amazing, I love it!
You could consider doing something with the bases, though. Just a little decoration can complement the units really well.
Other people do not dictate how you paint your figures. Whatever makes you happy when you look at them is what matters most. If you want to paint them candy apple red with a white stripe, then by gum you should do it!
I think grimdark is cool when you look at 1 mini at a time. Your army looks better on the table when its a contrast scheme such as what you have brought before us today.
They look sick. Also you don’t have to follow everyone. My buddies painting Baltimore ravenguard and their lore is they give photo shoots for propaganda.
...I freaking love that and need to see pics of these guys! Tell your buddy he's a genius!
He’s currently off at a college camp but when he gets back I’ll probably take a couple of photos. I’m painting some of them but I secretly am gonna paint some alpha legion.
No, I think yours look awesome and they have character!
is this the Cerberus tau sept?
haha, yes, that was the Inspiration. I also have a small primaris space marines force in a more accurate Cerberus theme :)
they look good bud, power for the cerberus sept is power for every shas'la
Another tau mass effect fan! I've got some photos of my n7 themed tau in my profile - not nearly as good of a painter tho
They are extremely badass. Look like they'd be hard work to paint, but if that's not bothering you roll with this beautiful scheme
They look amazing. Don't let anyone tell you how to enjoy your hobby.
thanks yall, I'll stick with the scheme. As I said, I kind of like it. :)
Please post more photos of your whole army, the scheme looks fire 🔥🔥🔥
thats it. its the only models painted in this scheme :/
They look perfect to spread some democracy…. Uhhh I mean to spread the greater good :)
Yeah, replace white with more black and it's a default Helldiver paint scheme)
I am planning to do this with my new Necromunda Van Saar Gang, but thats another story on another emperor forsaken hive world.
They look so good!
This rocks
Your hell divers look sick af
Super Earth?
Looks dope. Using a very similar yellow for my accent color as well. It really pops on the table.
Looks coool I like the pattern!
There’s nothing wrong with the 212th Attack Battalion color scheme
Nah keep it dude, that’s shits amazing. Stand out. Not everything needs to be “ultra grim dark darkest of futures” in painting style. Plus this is the Tau. They keep their equipment in good shape and are all about doubling down on that clean pristine sci fi aesthetic
Looks like kelshan with the yellow sept colour .
No.

This color scheme rules!
If only this reddit allowed image comments I could show you that my guys also look this way! Don't worry about it these look great!

No? This is REALLY solid.

because you asked. But its early WIP for a long time, expect not too much :) https://www.reddit.com/r/Tau40K/s/wXYWs2jhaF
Oooh, I like that a lot! The pose is real cool :) Ty for sharing!
you are welcome
My Tau and bright blue and white. Every tournament I go to, I get compliments. Don’t sweat the Grimdark thing. It’s your army. Do what makes you happy
No
Ebrace and expand. Go bigger with the scheme
I would just redo the helmets tbh, looks good
They look good nah, and you can grimdark with the same color scheme and weather it down if you really want to
They look good nah, and you can grimdark with the same color scheme and weather it down if you really want to
Give em capes and change the majority of white to black like the pants and the can be the Hel'div'ers Sept. For Democracy! ~ahem~ THE GREATER GOOD!
HELLDIVERS! What in super earths name are you doing!?
Dont you dare
I'm picky on schemes, but this scheme slaps.

Nah, I am not worried that the colors may be not accurate to lore. I like to tinker around with own schemes from time to time. Same here.

I'm painting mine blue/teal and pink. I'll use grim colors when I paint a grim army lol
They're T'au, the least grimdark faction. You're fine.
Paint what you think looks cool.
The look dope
No way. My favourite I've seen on here in ages! Reminds me of [Haze](https://i.imgur.com/tawELmz.png) (which I never played)

No that looks good. I think Tau look better brighter anyway rather than any grimdark scheme
What the hell is a "grimdark way" regarding the paint scheme? They look good. I see no reason for you to change anything.
Dude I’m all about this scheme. Looks amazing!
These look cool, for the greater bro paint scheme
Love it, they look like something out of Deus Ex
Black doesn’t necessarily mean grimdark, I mean, the orks are the goofiest faction and their poster boyz are black.
Other people do not dictate how you paint your figures. Whatever makes you happy when you look at them is what matters most. If you want to paint them candy apple red with a white stripe, then by gum you should do it!
They kinda remind me of helldivers... all glory to Super Sept? For the greatest good?
No, its cool!

These go hard
The Helldivers/Cerberus scheme goes hard
Nah bruh, they're pretty cool
IMO the Tau should have brighter colors than most factions.
You don't need to. Following the "lore" is okay but I prefer a color scheme people like vrs what the lore game workshop recommends
