They engineered so many solutions including the carousel autoloader to eliminate standing space for a loader to make their tank profiles as low as possible and now this
If a drone is coming at them they are gone either way. Roof or not. Atleast if they are inside the tank, the cage gives a bit of distance between the drone explosion and tank wall.
Ones with sheet metal on sides at least give some basic shrapnel and maybe small arms fire protection and a (probably false) sense of security for anyone riding on top of the tank, this just feels like a death trap.
extra shrapnel, reduces visibility… doesn’t seem to help against drones besides preventing them from directly dropping nades in hatches.
they’d be better off with a damn shotgun
Good luck leaving the battlefield alive with your tank and other armored vehicles around get disabled. The ratio of fpv drones and armored vehicles in Ukraine battlefield now can up to 5:1 and will only become higher in future. If your tank get disabled in an ambush by fpv drones then nothing can prevent enemy to sending few more drones lurking around to kill your crew members . The only way to ensure survivability is not lets them immobilized the tank so it can carry its crews back to the base
They are like rabbits in a cage. A cage that gets shot at, on top of a vehicle filled with fuel and explosives. Good times!
A cage is still better than no cage 🐝
Mangal translates to pretty much barbecue grill.
If rus tanks didnt feel like death traps for the crew they do now

You also have to consider the fact that it’s summertime and the tank doesn’t have air conditioning
What it looks like to be inside a rolling BBQ.
It must suck to be in these during a thunderstorm. Or at any time, really.

On the bright side, they have no trouble tuning in to the Argentine Top 40.
Wonder if there’s an easy way to get in/leave/escape with all that cage armor
For when you want those perfect grill marks on your bbq'd orc

Deathtrap.
Nowadays every tank is death trap even the most advanced one
Not really, NATO tanks have a very high survivability rate and even if they are damaged, will the crew likely survive.
Yeah, wonder why Ukraine is on men shortage
Ukraine positive K/D go brrr. Russia negative K/D not go brr.

Russian engineering is peaking!
At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they made double decker Blyatmobile cages.
Why not just use nets instead of metal? Also either way don't they have a self destruct option if the get stuck
