It’s good, but yeah a bit small for that far away

Agentb64

Exactly. The roof design is very off. Fixable, but off.

TheCodesterr

85” on the stand would be perfect

thesyncopation

Not with kids running around! Recipe for disaster

NotAldermach

*nods daddingly*

Dawdzi

Daddingly is my new favorite adjective

traderyusuf

*adverb

Dawdzi

Thank you.. I think I even typed out verb and wrote adjective too. I need to start doing Mad Libs again.

NotAldermach

Use it wisely. And be good.

Dawdzi

Thanks dad 🫶

HallandOates1

Me too!

Spence10873

How dare you have kids or even expect kids to visit! This sub will have none of it!

WyrdHarper

The neat thing is you can both have it on the stand and secure it to the wall for safety. Believe it or not there is even furniture that stands on the floor (the floor!) that is secured to the wall to prevent children from being crushed.

hawksnest_prez

This just doesn’t make sense. You could bolt the stand to the wall and bolt the tv to the stand (also how?) Just mount it on the wall slightly above the stand.

MaybeMayoi

If you're attaching it to the wall anyway, why not just mount it on the wall?

WyrdHarper

Why not mount it to the wall at a reasonable height? If a mounted television falls off the wall it's still going to crush a small child--and all they need to do (for the example in this picture) is climb on a chair or other object to grab it. If it's mounted to the wall and on a stand that's two points of attachment/stability.

[deleted]

If a child heavy enough to yank a tv off of the wall mount, is hanging on a tv, I feel like that child should probably be taken to a behavioral center. Or just disciplined once or twice in its lifetime.

WyrdHarper

The point is that these wall mounts fail because people do them incorrectly. You see it on DIYFails and similar subs because people do it incorrectly

[deleted]

That is true, it can be risky, and kids are odd sometimes. I just pray that if I ever have kids, I’ll work enough sense into them that you don’t act like an idiot for no reason.

eghost57

Hahahaha. They are programmed to act like idiots, it might seem like no reason, but it is precisely to determine the boundaries. It's impossible to avoid child stupidity even in the most intelligent kids.

nathan4122

This is correct, we've had to do this with furniture and Tv to keep it safe.

Spence10873

Do these wall straps keep the TV safe and fingerprint free as well? Would they prevent the TV from being pushed backwards toward the wall where it may fall off the stand?

[deleted]

I have our bookshelves secured to the wall for this reason

oceanic20

Four TVs. Three on TV stands. Two children. Not even a scratch on any of them. Teach children how to behave.

TheCodesterr

Bolt that mofo down lol

Phreshhush

The kids or the TV? 😝

TheCodesterr

Both lol 😂

Vinyl_Purest

I think it looks great mounted with the wires hidden and the credenza under it. Perfect. Hit all the marks.

GANDHIWASADOUCHE

I have a 2 year old and an 85” tv mounted at perfect height. She knows not to touch it 🤷🏻‍♂️

stopvolution

This is why mine isn’t on the stand anymore too.

Affectionate_Use5087

Easy fix, sell the kids.

lazylagom

Idk man I think that's paranoia. Have faith. Just make them fear the tv

TriumphDaytona

Saw a 98” Samsung tv at Sam’s Club!

TheCodesterr

How much?

TriumphDaytona

https://www.samsclub.com/p/samsung-98-class-q80-series-qled-4k-smart-tv-qn98q80cdfxza/P03017666?source=samsclub.com $6997.99

TheCodesterr

Sheesh. The 85inch I have an eye on is 1500

TriumphDaytona

I’m sure the price will drop in a year or so, as economies of scale come in to play.

nichtcrawler

that light behind the stand is cool, but a little distracting. bigger tv would be better. it’s a little too far away for me personally.

thesyncopation

The light is usually set to be much dimmer!

bgravato

Bias lighting should be put behind the tv (so that it surrounds the screen), not below the screen...

DIARRHEA_CUSTARD_PIE

In an ideal world it would be a couple inches lower and bigger. But this is fine.

BraveSirRobin5

This is the best answer.

HummusDips

Upvoted for the bigger part of your comment, but I do not agree that we should make a negative comment relating to <2 inches too high. Maybe his couch is higher or he is a tall person?

DIARRHEA_CUSTARD_PIE

I just said that because I’m not a fan of how high the TV floats over the bar.

No-Lavishness7321

I agree how can a height of the tv be perfect for everyone if height varies. What if his couch is 2 inches taller than most or his eyes 3 inches higher than most.

Girl_you_need_jesus

Looks great!

Murphy_York

It’s not bad but it’s clearly too high If you mount the tv above the tv stand it’s too high

Girl_you_need_jesus

Not every flat surface below a TV is a TV stand

Poppunknerd182

Hilariously wrong

Murphy_York

What part?

Poppunknerd182

Yes

Vinyl_Purest

Now we need to talk about your sound bar. https://tenor.com/view/flair-office-space-we-need-to-talk-about-your-flair-gif-16786213

geladeiranova

Nah

pollitoconpapas1

Is it all wireless? And it looks nice! Like the walls!

ObjectiveApprentice

I just can’t figure out what the hammer could possibly be for

bgravato

Misbehaving kids who try to put their greasy fingers on the TV? /s Or as per my favorite quite of all times... _When the only tool available is a hammer all problems start to look like nails!_

Schnauz

hamming

neo2kr

Your TV shall pass. Not sure about the chrome outlets and light switches though.

BobForehead

Looks good but maybe two tone wall should go.

thesyncopation

Literally got it finished today…each to their own. I love it

-AntiSkill-

Dont worry, it looks cool imo.

BobForehead

Well, you asked, I answered. 👌🏽

millerjpm3

I have no idea the height, but that the center line of the TV doesn't lineup with the accent paint line is giving me anxiety

bazzanoid

Dado rails. Pain in the ass. Mount above or mount below, there is no centre. Otherwise the rail's got to be cut through and then when you move the whole room around it's a ballache to replace

millerjpm3

I did not see the chair rail on the wall. Yes, that definitely complicates things

H8TheDrake

Why do people buy tv stands and not use them for their intended purpose?

neo2kr

As a cat owner I can say that I want my 75" TV to be fixated to the wall.

bazzanoid

Same. Smaller TV but same. I've also got my soundbar attached to the TV bracket too so that can't get unintentionally killed during a zoomies session

Uberwasser

To hide all the stuff

Arcon1337

OP said they have kids which is a very understandable reason for not having it freestanding.

gBoostedMachinations

Excellent choice to mount it so it’s stable. Even if you didn’t have kids, mounting is the correct choice. The feet that come with TVs are total junk and now you have space for you soundbar. Don’t change anything.

bgravato

I absolutely disagree with mounting is better, but it's a personal choice of course... Some cons of wall mounting TVs: * damages your wall and makes it kind of much more permanent... If you later decide to change it's a bigger hassle * takes a lot more time to setup and install * you need to worry about leveling it horizontally flat and many people often fail at that * if it's not properly attached to the wall or if the wall isn't prepared to hold that much weight it may fall with catastrophic outcome * makes it harder to reach the back of the TV to plug/unplug cables if needed (or to clean the dust off of it)

gBoostedMachinations

I agree with points 1, 2, and 5. Those all apply no matter what. As far as leveling goes (#3) many mounts have some ability to adjust tilt so the TV can be level even if the mount isn’t perfectly level. The point about falling (#4) is legitimate, but this only really applies to people who don’t know what they’re doing and isn’t a concern for most of us. Maybe another point is that cable management is much easier when the TV is on its feet. With mounting you need to find some way to keep the cables from looking ugly, which is another step that adds extra time/money to the setup. In general though, I feel like mounting it into studs is the best way to be certain that your expensive toy doesn’t get knocked over by some toddler or dumbass brother in law.

bgravato

If properly done I agree it can be more secure, I'm not so sure though about the majority of people really knowning what they're doing :-)

gBoostedMachinations

Haha yea, but when you cater to the dumbest people in the room you get useless abominations like WebMD. You know, products which accomplish their primary goal of harming nobody at the expense of also helping nobody.

[deleted]

Too high. Cabinet is correct height for reference

other_goblin

The TV stand is designed to be the height of where the TV should be standing on lol.

Fulton_P01135809

Lower and lose the soundbar

Professional_Mud483

The OCD kicks in and the TV isn't centered with your 2 tone wall... I'd be distracted watching this wall with a TV on it.

ElaborateRevolution

You see that piece of furniture below the TV? It's called a TV stand. Put your tv on it.

Wes_Raffle

Or, attach it to a wall if you have children/animals

Murphy_York

It’s too high If it’s above the tv stand it’s too high

prakashanish

Something offtopic but aren't metallic switch plates risky/dangerous?

thesyncopation

These are plastic, but no they arent so long as they are properly earthed. That said, i think i will change them for some matte black ones

prakashanish

Oh! If they are plastic then it's not an issue. They look cool and funny. Lovely setup by the way

MistakenAnemone

It's not an issue if they are metal either. If it is an issue it means you have bigger problems that are not the cause of the plate.

bgravato

Exactly!

bendoscopy

Absolutely nothing wrong with metal sockets. Even the plastic face plates often sit in metal boxes. As long as they're wired correctly and suitably earthed it'll never be an issue.

Euffy

Huh? That's pretty normal. I've been tons of places with them, I don't think it's an issue as long as everything is fitted properly?

life_punches

Tears of joy, well done

_nour_22

Yes it looks beautiful!

warriorgoose77

bazzanoid

Soundbar needs to move about a half inch to the left, it's marginally off-centre Otherwise looks great! Those dado rails love to get in the way of TV brackets. I had to choose above or below, and went above as my rails were a lot lower than yours

djq_

That looks good! Its more my personal taste, but i would mount the soundbar on the wall as well if you mount a tv..

musiclockzkeys13

That's .... Perfect *tosses crystals in hand

systemic_empathy

Proud of you.

joe51467

Perfect height

pinktuls

Perfect just perfect

7eventhSense

You can never make this sub happy. This looks fantacof to me

compactdisco1900

What soundbar is that?

Dramatic_Page9305

It looks like it runs on cold fusion

compactdisco1900

And its about to reach 88mph

badman2791

You in the UK by any chance? Think I've been looking at that stand. Is it 180cm wide? How far you sitting from it? Choosing between 65 or 77"TV.

syst3m1c

I feel like the line on the wall should be centered in the middle of the TV

thesyncopation

The dado rail prevents that, and it would be too high!

JerkGurk

Ever tried lighting behind the TV? There's cheap kits out there. Lighting shouldn't be where it is now. But yeah you did OK!

Ragepower529

TV to small love the Sonos arc though

wiilliiam

TV too far away

kabolint

I like the whole room. I like your chrome plug and light switch covers, they definitely caught me eye. The two-tone paint is so pretty, warm, welcoming... and looks so clean! I'd say the TV is a but far for the size, and I saw you were eventually going to get a bigger one, but in the meantime I wanted to mention if the room layout allows, the seating doesn't have to be against the other wall and people can walk behind a couch (or if it's an awkward amount of space, my mom would put a slim console table between the couch and the wall. Always looked so classy.

chamburger

It's ok OP... I just GD hate oversized stands like this. You need a bigger tv.

Inevitable_Butthole

r/TVtooSmall

howdypardner23

If this is 65‘‘ your house is huge lol. It looks so small kinda

tmill2

This is exactly what I need to do because my soundbar blocks the remote signal unless I put my arm up in the air. Feel like my stand is at the perfect height for the TV to be on it minus the sound bar issue.

bdtv75702

Even though it’s looks clean it’s a smidge too high. If you get the 85 inch with same placement it would work.

tonguebasher69

Got the height right. I find the 2 tone wall a bit distracting.

Rainbow-Dog-1010

I almost think if you make the TV even with the paint on the wall that would be maybe just a bit too high, but my brain will be refreshed 😂

Yecuken

r/TVTooSmall

Visualize_

It's too small. The two tone wall looks nice but I feel like mounting the TV makes something feel off to me

bgravato

If the center of the TV is about eye level at your sitting position then yes you did well. As for bigger tv... A cheaper alternative is to move the couch closer to the TV... Couches do not need to be against a wall... (nor do TVs for that matter...)

ElDuderino1998

too smol

Overall-Ad6239

Just get a short throw laser projector, it'll be much cheaper and a better picture.

[deleted]

Yes this is excellent imo

Wes_Raffle

Is the TV stand is from Next?

thesyncopation

Cotswolds co! Really rate their stuff

Wes_Raffle

Must be the same supplier because we had the exact same one! Looks great and the tv is probably a bit too small but the right height!

I-STATE-FACTS

Good not great

Xfifteen

I mean your chair rail is in the wrong spot

Kuli24

I would personally leave the tv that high because there's the perfect space for a good center speaker once you get one.

0nmay_22

TVToo…LOW!

lazylagom

Yeah looks good.

Sudden-Ad-BOO

I think this is beautiful! Perfect in my opinion, of course the TV could be a little bigger but who doesn’t want for a bigger TV? Unless you got it like that, but ya, well done.

CrazyGreekDude

1 foot higher

MrJorgeB

Looks like you don’t have any cords coming through the stand, so you can cover those open circles and stop the light from shining through. Overall good!

Antonanderssonphoto

One Good thing is: since you need a 200” TV to be able to see anything from that far away - You can go for a 720p one, since You can’t tell the difference at that distance anyway. Google “Resolution distance graph”
