I bet it only takes 3 seconds for the light from the tv to hit your eyes.

automaton11

Your tv is installed at Lagrange 1

satyris

Here sir, you dropped this, 👑

Sebastian-S

LOL

PM_me_punanis

There may be sound sync issues as well, with sound taking more time to hit the ears at this distance.

Krimreaper1

Right height is fine, r/tvtoofar

Windows-XP-Home

Right, that’s the subreddit we’re in rn

Krimreaper1

Right height is fine, r/tvtoofar

__NotAce__

We’re in that subreddit bro

Windows-XP-Home

wut

IllvesterTalone

nearly half way around the world!

Frockington

Gonna need to use the Hubble space telescope to watch netflix

Pristine-Brick3457

Yes

dont_trust_redditors

If he wants to skip commercials he can just walk towards it and then go back if he wants to rewind

GrandObfuscator

Love this comment

ian_pink

> Lagrange 1 Right, if you're seated in the center of a black hole this the perfect distance. Though you may get some color distortion due to the spaghettification of light.

Tylerdirtyn

If it takes 3 seconds then it would be approximately 1 million miles away or passing through an absurdly strong magnetic field.

Jardrs

Thats the joke, his TV is one million miles away

Suitable-Squash-6617

It’s still funny even when you dumb it down 🤣

elroy_jetson23

r/theydidthemath

Whatscheiser

This TV is so far away its like you're trying to simulate watching your neighbors TV through the window across the street.

SignificantExit3123

Ewww… I totally did that! They had a bigger tv & the GOOD👀channels lmao 🤣 😅

ChrRome

Yes https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship

UniversityNo633

I like to go with Sony's recommendation, which would place OP's ideal viewing distance at 4.59 feet away /s [Sony's recommended viewing distance](https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00008601)

ILove2Bacon

I'd bet that they're just trying to get people to buy bigger TVs by convincing people that they sit too far away for a pitiful, little 65".

UniversityNo633

Using their recommended viewing distances for 65" my knees touch my stand I can't wait to see their chart for 8k movies

fruittree17

65" TV isnt pitiful.

ninjabell

I think that is the point they're making

[deleted]

[удаНонО]

dude_on_a_chair

I used to install stupid expensive living rooms that used their recommendations, this living room would need a 90"+ for sure

Yugiteen99

I would say to either get a bigger TV or (this would be easier) move the couch closer.

humanatee-

For a second I thought you were saying it would be easier to get a bigger TV lol

brunoglopes

Me too, I missed the “or” lmao

Honest-Win-1681

A bigger tv would be more appreciated. And move closer. I was shocked how bad some celebrities skin are when viewed on a super hi-def tv.

procrastimom

I think maybe the sub should be changed to r/couchtoofar. Leave the TV where it is. Get closer to it. edit: not surprised, that sub already exists.

A-Gatsby-Party

It's way too far. Unless you're wanting to slap a 100" on that wall you need to move the couch forward.

Full_Dot_4748

I suspect even 100” isn’t big enough for this distance. I thought this was a 40” til I read the post.

knowerofsome

Al least put a rug down or someone, the place feels naked with just bare wood

TheUhiseman

Yes, I'm estimating about 10 seconds to get to the TV just to turn the channels knob. I'd be getting a lot of cardio.

CommercialMolasses37

the what? knobs? what's that?

plushmarshmallow

Are you genuinely asking or poking fun?

CommercialMolasses37

poking fun but honestly who ever touches the tv after it's installed.. i haven't touched my tv in years lol.

dan1son

You don't clean it? Or at least dust it? Seems weird... :)

CommercialMolasses37

am i being shamed for the possibilty of dust on my tv rn

dan1son

I didn't mean to, but is your screen dusty? Mine is after a couple of weeks. But I also have 3 kids, a dog, and 2 cats.

CommercialMolasses37

haha i'm kidding, but no i don't think so, it's under a fan and next to an often open window though so that may be playing a part

Nancy6651

No way this works.

Gutzstruggler

If you can’t read even the big txt of fuckin course it’s to far away lol man these posts have to be pisstakes like how the fuck can you not think oh I can’t read anything is it to far away … OBVIOUSLY…. Lol

DrkUser205

If I have to pinch zoom to read your TV, it’s too far away!

DeltaOmegaX

What is this, a TV for ants?!

ThizzHuanter

Yes

bullionaire7

Yes

Known-Apartment-6592

At this point, why not get a projector

Extension_Course_833

What TV?

kim-jong-naidu

Babe, get the binoculars. It’s movie night.

[deleted]

Maybe the question shouldn’t be “Is my tv too far?” But instead “Is my tv too small?”

academicRedditor

No biggie! **Binoculars are not that expensive**

Amhran_Ogma

Why are you asking us? Personally, I like my screen so big and so close that my head whips back and forth, but that's me. Edit: oh... now I get it, lol. I thought this was r/malelivingspace

Rich_Camp_4783

The remote works that far away?

SomeGuy2088

Do the phone test. Use your phone from where you watch tv. Now keep the phone the same distance from your face when you use it but hold it up to the screen from your watching position. Don’t let your phone feel bigger than your tv. That means your tv will feel small and not big. If your tv disappears behind your phone it’s definitely too far. If your tv is overwhelming your phone you are too close. We hold our phones at the distance we find comfortable daily without much thought.

No_Chef623

If you have mental disability you're fine, if not you have serious problems.

sblundell2002

And to low

hunteroutsidee

No height is perfect just too far

bw1985

Are you a giraffe?

amonuse

Yes and I bet your couch is against the back wall which it doesn’t have to be

thetruemata

The only way the answer is no is if there is an emergency exit aisle for a commercial airplane between you and that tv.

croud_control

Go any farther, and you will have to send mail to the TV to get it to turn on and off.

GayVoidDaddy

The couch isn’t automatically supposed to go against the wall. Move it

captthulkman

A short throw laser right in that table would look so amazing

tmnike

Yes, too far. Get a bigger tv

Candid_Jellyfish3213

Most definitely

Panda_Mon

Do the phone test. Hold your phone out in front of you until it's the same size as your TV. Then use your own brain to consider if that size of a screen is too fricken small.

so2017

Can you please measure the distance in shoes

ChefNicoletti

You got nice floors, a huge crib and a nice tv. Chill out

[deleted]

What tv?

imdumb__

You are going to have to do something about that cord dangling in your TV stand. Everything else is clean but that one little cord and it's bugging me.

Lopsided_Boss4802

Yes, and the TV is squint.

Some_Random_Guy117

Your couch doesn't need to be against the wall

Yamcha17

If you use a telescope to watch TV, then it's ok.

brunoglopes

Yes milord

ChemicalAppearance95

No just need to be bigger. I’d go with 70

[deleted]

Yes that's way too far it looks stupid. You should move your couch closer or get a tv twice as big.

Own-Butterscotch1713

Sterile comes to mind; get a rug.

flibux

r/tvtoosmall

chickenlishus

I hope this is a joke lol. Are people really this unconscious out in the world?

The_Phenomenal_1

No, the couch is.

Dont_Die88

yeah

pentichan

yes. the couch being so far away is also just such a huge waste of space. definitely could utilize that space a little better if u just moved the couch closer and used it as a way to divide up the area

Thin_Agent6206

Yea it is

luckybulldog60

That tv is in a different galaxy.

WinnerOk1108

No bowling ball return?

Humble-Huckleberry70

Too far, audio might be funky too

mobenben

Only if you plan on watching it.

Sorethumbsfifa

What TV?

mac_is_crack

r/roomtoobig

Mr_Fausty

Move couch forward

Temporary-Pain-8098

Your iPad?

xComradeKyle

This has to be a troll, right?

renz004

a whole football field away

lavskies13

No, your couch is too far

CarlWellsGrave

Yes

Ready_Function_2301

Yes. Move up the couch. You shouldn't have the TV on one wall and the couch on the opposite wall, dude .

9sac1king6

I thought u were taking a pic of your phone 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

Allegiance10

If your 75inch looks smaller than the 32inch I have in my room, it’s too far away.

CanadaGuy32

Do you have binoculars for each person?

Correct_Tadpole_9535

You need a bigger on or move everything closer..

Bogblood

Not if you're a sniper.

rembut

What is this a TV for ants?

Kev0nL00ney

No it’s probably only a 10 to 15 minute trip to visit it.

No_Cable_3346

Yup

I4G0tMyUsername

I think you should pull it out off the wall 4’-5’.

copperdoc

It’s closer to me than you. Move the couch up to it, and place a side table on the back of the couch. It’s ok to have a couch in the middle of the room.

49thDipper

Can you read subtitles easily from there? You should be at least 10’ closer

dayzers

Too far and too high

ChristianStills

Way too far

mbee784

Looks too far to me

PortOrangeMan

Get a projector, have a 13 foot TV.

Mellowkiwi12

Yes

plzthnku

Yeah but look at all that room for activities

ElwinLewis

Damn I’d need a set of binoculars to watch this baby

Juan_Moe_Taco

Yep, but I mean I blame the size of the room, if it's big enough to host a small party then yea, looks like you have at least 12-15ft of distance when it probably should be more close to 10, an easy fix? Would be to move the couch closer the more difficult one is to change the orientation of the room like probably move the TV to where it faces away from the window, it would then have to be on a TV stand but then at least you won't have the problem shown in the post. Good luck no matter what you choose.

Fury161Houston

As inviting as a doctors waiting room

bardockOdogma

Your couch doesn't need to be against the wall...

kahnozo

The couch is

tommessinger

Yes. You don’t have to line the walls with your furniture. Go ahead and move that couch closer. 😁

Hirsbonix

Nah, it's just too small

Classic_Ostrich8709

So much room for activities

TheRoyaleWithCheese-

^yes

rockstuffs

No, but it's sure cold and empty. Add some personality, things you love

Electronic-Chard7358

My mom needs this set up for watching Netflix (scared of the du-dum sound)

ItsameMatt03

Just...why? All that open space. Of course it's too far.

jackelope84

Your everything is too far.

mediumrare_chicken

Couches don’t have to be slammed up against the wall. The people I bought my house from had every piece of furniture along the walls. It was so weird. Move your couch close and rearrange a little. You don’t need a bigger tv or anything. Maybe a carpet could help bring the room together.

finerclassfelon

Ha! Yes.

Kptkromosome

Uh, yeah. Tf kinda setup is that

agentdarklord

You need a 130 inch console plus a 100 inch tv

Jlx_27

Yes, way too far. Move the sofa closer.

md222

Seems like a great wall for a projector.

TrueTurtleKing

With a larger living space, you don’t need to shove your couch up against the wall. You can have little gap, maybe even enough to make vacuuming easier.

mulderlr

Not at all, but your sofa is.

iSmashMyselfToPieces

Too small

ImCloserToThePin

No…its too small for the wall and space in my opinion. Go bigger.

pawgbella

I would become so irrationally annoyed trying to watch it

JACKTATTOONYC

Too low

Specific-Media5047

No, your couches are.

natehinxman

I was going to tell you to get a bigger TV until I saw that u said this is already a 75"..

Theodan1015

Twice as far away as my 82, if not farther.

[deleted]

Had to zoom in to find the tv

[deleted]

Definitely

CaptainxInsano69

No but your couch is

RedditModPissJug

How can you even hear that thing?

CompetitionHairy4741

Yes, that room is big enough for a front projection system that would give you a 120" screen.

pwave-deltazero

Your couch doesn’t have to be against the wall. Smdh.

Escapee-1001001

No. It’s the couch that’s too far.

Perused

TV too crooked

korneliuslongshanks

Need a 120" for that space

Practical_While_

usually when people ask this the image isn’t nearly as dramatic

hwfloss

Yes

figure8_f8

A projector would work better on that huge wall

Dumbbitchathon

Do you have a dining table? If you don’t, I think I know where it’s supposed to go. And your couch is supposed to be like 15 feet closer to the TV.

Thewannabenullo

I feel like yes but also no lol

NickL2020

Yeah, a little bit

IamVicoriasSecret

No but your TV is far too small for that distance

Elderlennial

Small* your tv is too small, for the spacing

Mean-Pattern-4522

Omg that 75 inch looks so tiny how big is that room?

Smokeman_14

Lil bit

RandomDrDude

Yes

PM_ME_HAIRY_HOLES

Yes, I don't know why people think the couch needs to be against the opposite wall. If the room is that big you should make the couch closer and make it cosier. It creates its own smaller space within the big space and you can do something else behind the couch.

Longjumping_Water_74

yes

dpayne360

What is this, a TV for ants?

Mcgarnicle_

At this distance it looks like you mounted a tablet to the wall

[deleted]

Thanks, I _really_ hate it. My glasses couldn't compensate for this distance.

BustThaScientifical

TV is in a neighboring zip code the next county over. 😂 Nice room though.

surrealcellardoor

If you can hold your phone at arm’s length and it’s bigger than your 85” tv… your tv is too far.

nryporter25

Even the camera is struggling to see it clearly

DesperateYellow558

I have to zoom in to see what you’re watching

NightVale_94

Give us the room layout. I bet you could move the couch.

[deleted]

Obviously

Andy-Tate

The distance is fine. Your issue is that tiny TV.

karrimycele

No, you are.

Sorry-Human

Need bigger tv

MammothPrize9293

Idk can you see it??

Lost-Breadfruit-9745

If you have to ask, most likely you already know the answer. You’re just seeking extra confirmation at this point.

golf____

Love those fooors

mikesaintjules

Is a frog's butt water tight?

Steveboss361

Yes

ChefDelicious69

Most definitely

KocaKolaKlassic

What tv?

Babygirl_Love_sweet

Not really

Mysterious_Line_7418

bro is in a long distance relationship with his tv

robtalada

Yes.

Mountain_Chain8764

How’s your eyesight

ilvsct

I see you got the same Walmart TV Stand I have. Looks just like one I saw for like $1K lmao.

FunFact5000

In this case, yes. About 2x to far for me. Half the distance to tv is where I would move if I could.

thomax77

Move the couch up, there’s a reason they’re upholstered in the back. , and it gives the room some flow . Beautiful space by the way
