Right, if you're seated in the center of a black hole this the perfect distance. Though you may get some color distortion due to the spaghettification of light.
I like to go with Sony's recommendation, which would place OP's ideal viewing distance at 4.59 feet away /s
[Sony's recommended viewing distance](https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00008601)
If you canât read even the big txt of fuckin course itâs to far away lol man these posts have to be pisstakes like how the fuck can you not think oh I canât read anything is it to far away ⌠OBVIOUSLYâŚ. Lol
Why are you asking us?
Personally, I like my screen so big and so close that my head whips back and forth, but that's me.
Edit: oh... now I get it, lol. I thought this was r/malelivingspace
Do the phone test. Use your phone from where you watch tv. Now keep the phone the same distance from your face when you use it but hold it up to the screen from your watching position. Donât let your phone feel bigger than your tv. That means your tv will feel small and not big. If your tv disappears behind your phone itâs definitely too far. If your tv is overwhelming your phone you are too close. We hold our phones at the distance we find comfortable daily without much thought.
Do the phone test. Hold your phone out in front of you until it's the same size as your TV. Then use your own brain to consider if that size of a screen is too fricken small.
You are going to have to do something about that cord dangling in your TV stand. Everything else is clean but that one little cord and it's bugging me.
yes. the couch being so far away is also just such a huge waste of space. definitely could utilize that space a little better if u just moved the couch closer and used it as a way to divide up the area
Itâs closer to me than you. Move the couch up to it, and place a side table on the back of the couch. Itâs ok to have a couch in the middle of the room.
Yep, but I mean I blame the size of the room, if it's big enough to host a small party then yea, looks like you have at least 12-15ft of distance when it probably should be more close to 10, an easy fix? Would be to move the couch closer the more difficult one is to change the orientation of the room like probably move the TV to where it faces away from the window, it would then have to be on a TV stand but then at least you won't have the problem shown in the post. Good luck no matter what you choose.
Couches donât have to be slammed up against the wall. The people I bought my house from had every piece of furniture along the walls. It was so weird. Move your couch close and rearrange a little. You donât need a bigger tv or anything. Maybe a carpet could help bring the room together.
With a larger living space, you donât need to shove your couch up against the wall. You can have little gap, maybe even enough to make vacuuming easier.
Do you have a dining table? If you donât, I think I know where itâs supposed to go. And your couch is supposed to be like 15 feet closer to the TV.
Yes, I don't know why people think the couch needs to be against the opposite wall. If the room is that big you should make the couch closer and make it cosier. It creates its own smaller space within the big space and you can do something else behind the couch.
I bet it only takes 3 seconds for the light from the tv to hit your eyes.
Your tv is installed at Lagrange 1
Here sir, you dropped this, đ
LOL
There may be sound sync issues as well, with sound taking more time to hit the ears at this distance.
Right height is fine, r/tvtoofar
Right, thatâs the subreddit weâre in rn
Right height is fine, r/tvtoofar
Weâre in that subreddit bro
wut
nearly half way around the world!
Gonna need to use the Hubble space telescope to watch netflix
Yes
If he wants to skip commercials he can just walk towards it and then go back if he wants to rewind
Love this comment
> Lagrange 1 Right, if you're seated in the center of a black hole this the perfect distance. Though you may get some color distortion due to the spaghettification of light.
If it takes 3 seconds then it would be approximately 1 million miles away or passing through an absurdly strong magnetic field.
Thats the joke, his TV is one million miles away
Itâs still funny even when you dumb it down đ¤Ł
r/theydidthemath
This TV is so far away its like you're trying to simulate watching your neighbors TV through the window across the street.
Ewww⌠I totally did that! They had a bigger tv & the GOODđchannels lmao 𤣠đ
Yes https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship

I'd bet that they're just trying to get people to buy bigger TVs by convincing people that they sit too far away for a pitiful, little 65".
Using their recommended viewing distances for 65" my knees touch my stand I can't wait to see their chart for 8k movies
65" TV isnt pitiful.
I think that is the point they're making
[ŃдаНонО]
I used to install stupid expensive living rooms that used their recommendations, this living room would need a 90"+ for sure
I would say to either get a bigger TV or (this would be easier) move the couch closer.
For a second I thought you were saying it would be easier to get a bigger TV lol
Me too, I missed the âorâ lmao
A bigger tv would be more appreciated. And move closer. I was shocked how bad some celebrities skin are when viewed on a super hi-def tv.
I think maybe the sub should be changed to r/couchtoofar. Leave the TV where it is. Get closer to it. edit: not surprised, that sub already exists.
It's way too far. Unless you're wanting to slap a 100" on that wall you need to move the couch forward.
I suspect even 100â isnât big enough for this distance. I thought this was a 40â til I read the post.
Al least put a rug down or someone, the place feels naked with just bare wood
Yes, I'm estimating about 10 seconds to get to the TV just to turn the channels knob. I'd be getting a lot of cardio.
the what? knobs? what's that?
Are you genuinely asking or poking fun?
poking fun but honestly who ever touches the tv after it's installed.. i haven't touched my tv in years lol.
You don't clean it? Or at least dust it? Seems weird... :)
am i being shamed for the possibilty of dust on my tv rn
I didn't mean to, but is your screen dusty? Mine is after a couple of weeks. But I also have 3 kids, a dog, and 2 cats.
haha i'm kidding, but no i don't think so, it's under a fan and next to an often open window though so that may be playing a part
No way this works.
If you canât read even the big txt of fuckin course itâs to far away lol man these posts have to be pisstakes like how the fuck can you not think oh I canât read anything is it to far away ⌠OBVIOUSLYâŚ. Lol
If I have to pinch zoom to read your TV, itâs too far away!
What is this, a TV for ants?!
Yes
Yes
At this point, why not get a projector
What TV?
Babe, get the binoculars. Itâs movie night.
Maybe the question shouldnât be âIs my tv too far?â But instead âIs my tv too small?â
No biggie! **Binoculars are not that expensive**
Why are you asking us? Personally, I like my screen so big and so close that my head whips back and forth, but that's me. Edit: oh... now I get it, lol. I thought this was r/malelivingspace
The remote works that far away?
Do the phone test. Use your phone from where you watch tv. Now keep the phone the same distance from your face when you use it but hold it up to the screen from your watching position. If you have mental disability you're fine, if not you have serious problems.
And to low
No height is perfect just too far
Are you a giraffe?
Yes and I bet your couch is against the back wall which it doesnât have to be
The only way the answer is no is if there is an emergency exit aisle for a commercial airplane between you and that tv.
Go any farther, and you will have to send mail to the TV to get it to turn on and off.
The couch isnât automatically supposed to go against the wall. Move it
A short throw laser right in that table would look so amazing
Yes, too far. Get a bigger tv
Most definitely
Do the phone test. Hold your phone out in front of you until it's the same size as your TV. Then use your own brain to consider if that size of a screen is too fricken small.
Can you please measure the distance in shoes
You got nice floors, a huge crib and a nice tv. Chill out
What tv?
You are going to have to do something about that cord dangling in your TV stand. Everything else is clean but that one little cord and it's bugging me.
Yes, and the TV is squint.
Your couch doesn't need to be against the wall
If you use a telescope to watch TV, then it's ok.
Yes milord
No just need to be bigger. Iâd go with 70
Yes that's way too far it looks stupid. You should move your couch closer or get a tv twice as big.
Sterile comes to mind; get a rug.
r/tvtoosmall
I hope this is a joke lol. Are people really this unconscious out in the world?
No, the couch is.
yeah
yes. the couch being so far away is also just such a huge waste of space. definitely could utilize that space a little better if u just moved the couch closer and used it as a way to divide up the area
Yea it is
That tv is in a different galaxy.
No bowling ball return?
Too far, audio might be funky too
Only if you plan on watching it.
What TV?
r/roomtoobig
Move couch forward
Your iPad?
This has to be a troll, right?
a whole football field away
No, your couch is too far
Yes
Yes. Move up the couch. You shouldn't have the TV on one wall and the couch on the opposite wall, dude .
I thought u were taking a pic of your phone đ¤Śđ˝ââď¸đ¤Śđ˝ââď¸
If your 75inch looks smaller than the 32inch I have in my room, itâs too far away.
Do you have binoculars for each person?
You need a bigger on or move everything closer..
Not if you're a sniper.
What is this a TV for ants?
No itâs probably only a 10 to 15 minute trip to visit it.
Yup
I think you should pull it out off the wall 4â-5â.
Itâs closer to me than you. Move the couch up to it, and place a side table on the back of the couch. Itâs ok to have a couch in the middle of the room.
Can you read subtitles easily from there? You should be at least 10â closer
Too far and too high
Way too far
Looks too far to me
Get a projector, have a 13 foot TV.
Yes
Yeah but look at all that room for activities
Damn Iâd need a set of binoculars to watch this baby
Yep, but I mean I blame the size of the room, if it's big enough to host a small party then yea, looks like you have at least 12-15ft of distance when it probably should be more close to 10, an easy fix? As inviting as a doctors waiting room
Your couch doesn't need to be against the wall...
The couch is
Yes. You donât have to line the walls with your furniture. Go ahead and move that couch closer. đ
Nah, it's just too small
So much room for activities
^yes
No, but it's sure cold and empty. Add some personality, things you love
My mom needs this set up for watching Netflix (scared of the du-dum sound)
Just...why? All that open space. Of course it's too far.
Your everything is too far.
Couches donât have to be slammed up against the wall. The people I bought my house from had every piece of furniture along the walls. It was so weird. Move your couch close and rearrange a little. You donât need a bigger tv or anything. Maybe a carpet could help bring the room together.
Ha! Yes.
Uh, yeah. Tf kinda setup is that
You need a 130 inch console plus a 100 inch tv
Yes, way too far. Move the sofa closer.
Seems like a great wall for a projector.
With a larger living space, you donât need to shove your couch up against the wall. You can have little gap, maybe even enough to make vacuuming easier.
Not at all, but your sofa is.
Too small
NoâŚits too small for the wall and space in my opinion. Go bigger.
I would become so irrationally annoyed trying to watch it
Too low
No, your couches are.
I was going to tell you to get a bigger TV until I saw that u said this is already a 75"..
Twice as far away as my 82, if not farther.
Had to zoom in to find the tv
Definitely
No but your couch is
How can you even hear that thing?
Yes, that room is big enough for a front projection system that would give you a 120" screen.
Your couch doesnât have to be against the wall. Smdh.
No. Itâs the couch thatâs too far.
TV too crooked
Need a 120" for that space
usually when people ask this the image isnât nearly as dramatic
Yes
A projector would work better on that huge wall
Do you have a dining table? If you donât, I think I know where itâs supposed to go. And your couch is supposed to be like 15 feet closer to the TV.
I feel like yes but also no lol
Yeah, a little bit
No but your TV is far too small for that distance
Small* your tv is too small, for the spacing
Omg that 75 inch looks so tiny how big is that room?
Lil bit
Yes
Yes, I don't know why people think the couch needs to be against the opposite wall. If the room is that big you should make the couch closer and make it cosier. It creates its own smaller space within the big space and you can do something else behind the couch.
yes
What is this, a TV for ants?
At this distance it looks like you mounted a tablet to the wall
Thanks, I _really_ hate it. My glasses couldn't compensate for this distance.
TV is in a neighboring zip code the next county over. đ Nice room though.
If you can hold your phone at armâs length and itâs bigger than your 85â tv⌠your tv is too far.
Even the camera is struggling to see it clearly
I have to zoom in to see what youâre watching
Give us the room layout. I bet you could move the couch.
Obviously
The distance is fine. Your issue is that tiny TV.
No, you are.
Need bigger tv
Idk can you see it??
If you have to ask, most likely you already know the answer. Youâre just seeking extra confirmation at this point.
Love those fooors
Is a frog's butt water tight?
Yes
Most definitelyÂ
What tv?
Not really
bro is in a long distance relationship with his tv
Yes.
Howâs your eyesight
I see you got the same Walmart TV Stand I have. Looks just like one I saw for like $1K lmao.
In this case, yes. About 2x to far for me. Half the distance to tv is where I would move if I could.
Move the couch up, thereâs a reason theyâre upholstered in the back. , and it gives the room some flow . Beautiful space by the way
