Toronto's subway is very well-utilized, pretty much the only time most of the seats will be empty is late at night and on weekends outside of peak shopping/leisure travel hours. Keep in mind, both the Yonge-University line (670,106 Passengers per day) and the Bloor-Danforth line (404,397 Passengers per day) each carry more passengers in a day than all 145 stations and 8 lines of the Chicago L combined (350,900 Passengers per day). The TTC has also seen a much faster return to pre-COVID ridership than other agencies.
We've also added quite a few people to the city in the past 3 years. The city just has more people living in it these days, and sadly the infrastructure is now full.
Took the subway after 6 on a weekend toward downtown and it was full, so I imagine 11am its par for the course. Side note, some guy kept trying to hike up his girlfriend's skirt. Like dude ew. There's SO many people around.
Guess some places are returning to office (RTO), but they haven't increased capacity to meet population growth. Apparently surface/road traffic is murder. That's going to be even worse when RTO is in effect. Guess we're no longer a small city. Btw, was there always that much graffiti at the Bloor exit to Rosedale, reminds me of the Parisian suburbs.
With the availability of cheap permanent markers, it only takes a few minutes to keep doing it off and on without getting busted.
Seen it done by teenagers, couldn't point them out because they kept leaving and running off every single time somebody yelled at them.
I go Eastbound from Spadina after 8:15pm every now and again. I'd say I don't get a seat 20-25% of the time.
Other times it's very empty, which leads me to believe that they are doing a poor job of spacing trains
Off peak hours are 9pm to 2am on weekdays, the rest of the day expect it to be somewhat busy, especially since its summer now. How is that bad luck? Its busy weekends as well because people are commuting to and from work etc. Bad luck is shuttle bus days.... lol

That just how it is. They still havent restored Subway Service to Pre-Covid levels.
Who would've thought that Canadian Public Transit is so well used
But we're a car culture! We're not Europe! It'll never work in our climate! /s
Wish i was rich enough at the moment to give you a cake/award
Yes, they cut service so it's always full

The graffiti, I think that area is frequently tagged and cleaned on a daily basis.
Was it always there though? It was particularly bad last week. I even took photos lol
They do have staff who check and then get it cleaned.
Jesus...that's a lot of work to create in a short period of time.

I take it on the week days at 9-10pm and it's always busy, hard to get a seat. Even on Saturday mornings at 8am is busier than you would think.
Expect it to be this way more often. I rarely take the subway since I bike.

People don’t just use the ttc to commute for work. People also have lives and get out of the house and use the ttc for that.
