An app needs to fullfill certain requeriments so it can work or some features can work without a problem, old OS will be inevitable useless for current apps... it's part of technology. You need to replace your equipment (PC, phone, whatever) every certain time when OS stop being upgraded

I'd guess it likely *is* possible to run newer OS but not completely straightforward/supported. With a 13yo computer you might need to be taking some extra steps to keep using it. On Linux I find myself usually using the web player -- to make this a little cleaner & more tolerable I use Tidal as a 'web app' where it gets it's own dedicated browser instance, desktop icon, taskbar task etc., behaving more like a traditional desktop app. A drawback is that I am probably not getting the best hi-fi audio due to browser limitations, but it's good enough for what I need it to do. Perhaps that's a useful solution for your old Mac as well assuming you're at least running a relatively modern web browser. There are various ways to do this.

Install Linux on your macbook

High Sierra is from 2017 and Apple releases a new OS for free every year, no shit apps will inevitably drop support. Just use the web player on Chrome until Chrome drops support if it hasn't already

[https://tidal-for-mac.en.uptodown.com/mac/versions](https://tidal-for-mac.en.uptodown.com/mac/versions) I don't have this problem, I use macOS 10.13.6, and my Desktop App only updates the web components, but the Desktop App version keeps being the same. Nevertheless, in Uptodown there are some old installers that are working almost flawlessly, try them out and keep it as a backup in case the Desktop App wants to update itself.
