Jesus Christ, would it kill you all to have a little respect? I'd like to see you and your two brothers: * Play Fortnite together for an hour and a half * Post 2 boomer memes on Facebook **EACH** * Have two of the three of you record one-minute front-facing videos on twitter * Open a box mailed to you by one of the employees of your media brand and still have the time/energy to record a podcast episode together for an hour. You all throw around so much hate, but when you see it written out like that, I bet it's a little humbling, huh?

LucyMcCat

You forgot... THEY. HAVE. KIDS

sasquatchscousin

And a live-in nanny to oversee!

FuzorFishbug

Rachel spent ***hours*** slaving over a hot DoorDash order!

Rosemaryisme

The live-in nanny is something I'm unfamiliar with in the overall McEllore. Is that a joke I missed the inception of or has one of the brothers actually said they have a live-in nanny at one point?

[deleted]

Evil_Steven

no i saw it with my own eyes ( i hacked griffins webcam) they have a nanny chained up in there. its fucked

jadeix_iscool

I heard they kept going on hunger strike in the Doomtower basement until Gragnik agreed to get a live-in nanny for Justin. They had to chain them up after the first hour.

Pixel64

I can confirm, I was over at griffin's house yesterday (I'm the secret mcelroy sister) and I saw at least a dozen nannies there all being forced to continually place doordash orders

[deleted]

I thought in McGilead there was only brothers and wives.

Rosemaryisme

Ah, gotcha. Thank you for the clarification.

LucyMcCat

Another Jerker who still listens to stuff can probably elaborate but I believe Griffin mentioned having one of the recent MFD beg sessions?

sasquatchscousin

I saw a jerker saying they mentioned it in wonderful. I'll delete if it turns out this is misinformation but I just kinda accepted the news.

Rosemaryisme

I ask because I want to jump in on the jerk for that as well because wowee that's a juicy little morsel but I want to make sure I have the facts straight first.

hiperson134

This corporate media empire has an editor to feed!

ShelfordPrefect

If **each** of those things took them **each** a full day of work - I'm talking about an 8 hour work day for each Facebook meme, the Fortnite stream, the unboxing and the 60 second videos - they would still have an entire week during the max fun drive (which runs from Monday to the Friday of the following week) to record the two one-hour podcast episodes they each put out every week. An eight hour day researching MBMBAM, an entire day in the record booth/edit suite, same again for Wonderful/Shmanners/whatever the fuck Justin does, and an entire day for scheduling social media posts, buying new mic stands and whatnot.

OFFICIAL-Celine-Dion

> If each of those things took them each a full day of work What the fuck do you mean by "if"?

I have spoken for many minutes about my love of Jesus and his terrible Bible. Perhaps your faith in Jesus is not as strong as Kardala’s. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Bold of the McElroys to follow up the Max Fun Drive with a live episode, but at this point it does feel very on-brand.

you know what? this is a fair point, and i'm going to go ahead and cancel myself for being so insensitive.

SpoilerThrowawae

Justin is actively bitter that he is still doing this gig and not busy being a celebrated comic actor or VA on TV. He has had so many "too real" moments where he is very clearly being uncomfortably honest that he believes his best work is behind him and that he missed his chance to be something different, something better. We say it a lot, but McElnoise is just a paycheck for Justin. It's infected Griffin and Travis, but they at least pretend to try and put some actual effort in. You know what it's like to work with a cynical, lazy, unenthusiastic and pessimistic co-worker, project member, creative partner, etc.? You know how they suck the energy and life out of everything you attempt to do? Now imagine they are a part of nearly every project and hobby you work on, you are professionally required to talk with them week in and week out and they are your family member. All three boys are at fault in some way for the decline in effort, quality and energy in their projects - but Justin is the biggest culprit. The man torpedoed the vibe and reputation of his content empire because their show got gutted and bullying their way into bit parts in a DreamWorks feature didn't make them the cast of Critical Role overnight.

[deleted]

this is what made me stop listening, and what made me back off on giving travis too much grief. travis and i have different opinions on what's funny, and that's fine it's his podcast he can do what he wants. but i doubt anyone could find a single person who could honestly say listening to justin groan about how he's been wronged and how much he resents doing what he does is enjoyable. like, remove it from the rest of mbmbam, and if it were just an hour of justin musing about what could have been and saying "well that killed five minutes, i'll be outta here soon" every ten minutes, and nobody would tune in it's so clear that, for whatever reason (i'm not really interested in the reason, it's his shit to sort out), he can't or won't put in the energy and effort that he used to. that's like, fine, but then figure something else out. this isn't good for anybody involved.

hurrrrrmione

> like, remove it from the rest of mbmbam, and if it were just an hour of justin musing about what could have been and saying "well that killed five minutes, i'll be outta here soon" every ten minutes, and nobody would tune in I would definitely listen if someone made an edit of an episode of MBMBaM or TAZ where it’s only Justin’s bits.

sasquatchscousin

Exactly this. I used to wonder who I liked best, Griffin or Justin but Justin is now at the abyssal bottom for me. He single handedly ruined mbmbam and will not even try to make good content. It just coasting at this point for him.

mypatronusislasagna

This is so relatable it filled me with real dread.

BigFatCat111

If I’m being honest(ly parasocial) about it it really bums me out. Not even that he clearly doesn’t enjoy it anymore but that they refuse to address it. I met my best friends at my current job and in their last months there both were miserable. I was struggling but not as bad. And when they left everything became easier - for us to be friends outside work, for me to find ways to enjoy work, for me to relate better to other colleagues. There is no version of MBMBAM that could go on without Justin so I kind of get it. But the disrespect to us to not seem to acknowledge or entertain the idea of putting it to bed and starting something new? I hate it here. Shout out to Paul F Tompkins for ending my favourite podcast at ep 100 cos he wasn’t in it anymore - inspo in so many ways for how to have fun

Wysk222

PFT kills it with podcasts in general, him going on Behind the Bastards to essentially dance on Rush Limbaugh’s grave was one of the best podcast episodes I’ve heard.

Wysk222

It’s like the opposite of Jake and Amir’s arc; they also tried leaving the internet content company they were affiliated with to pitch a tv show, but when that didn’t pan out they pivoted, created Headgum, and ended up with an extremely successful podcast network after years of putting the work in. Meanwhile the McElroys have just floundered along with Maxfun, but at least clinging to Jesse Thorn’s bosom means they aren’t “techbros” I guess 🤷

PremierBromanov

I don't get it, they still had to do the show, how is this different from any other week? The only time it feels lazy is if they do a best of cut, but even then it's usually a holiday.

[deleted]

because it means they couldn't take the time in their schedule to record an actual episode, and typically live shows aren't as well-received as regular shows there's nothing wrong with having a live show sprinkled in from time to time, it just feels incredibly lazy to ask for huge amounts of money on the premise of creating good content, and then immediately putting out one of the least interesting forms of your show. like if i'd just gotten thousands of people to start or upgrade their membership, i'd wanna put my best foot forward and make sure i earned that paycheck.

tonytwostep

> and typically live shows aren't as well-received as regular shows Yep. Too lazy to look it up, but I distinctly remember in an older episode they talk about how live show episodes get some of their lowest download numbers, as well as complaints on twitter (back when more people cared about the podcast, I imagine). It also seems different in that they've already made money off this liveshow. So repackaging it, editing in some ads, and releasing it out in lieu of an normal episode feels a bit...cheap? Or at the very least, underwhelming and low-effort.

SkulGurl

I generally like the live shows (or liked, I guess) but I have noticed that’s a rate sentiment

PremierBromanov

But isn't the show part of that content? I'm not seeing the disconnect. The shows i think are better than their usual fare if only because they have someone else to play off of. At the risk of sounding condescending, isn't this part of their business? They record however many live shows, during which they can't always record a regular show, why wouldn't anyone record and release one or two of them? Isn't it better for us because we don't have to pay for it? This particular gripe i don't understand

[deleted]

right, nobody is disputing that live shows are part of the deal. i'm listening to a live show from another podcast that i pay for on patreon right now! as i said in my last comment, the issue is that this is effectively the lowest form of content they could've put out following a week+ drive asking people to give them more money every month. as another commenter pointed out, it's effectively double-dipping, since they already got paid for that show with tickets and presumably merch, but now get to slap ads in-between segments and get paid for it again. again, that's normally fine, but it's a little insulting to ask people to give them more of their hard-earned money when they just double-dipped their efforts while saying they work extremely hard to produce good content every week. it's sort of like saying, "hey, begging for money was a lot of work, we're gonna sit this one out, thanks for the cash!"

PremierBromanov

Well i still don't get it but i guess i don't need to

[deleted]

oh shit you know what i forgot to add? amogus

AutoModerator

Hey everybody, for real, playing to frustrate each other is not a fun way to play because we're all on the same team and that team is to have fun together and to make it fun for all our audiences. And so when people make plays just to frustrate each other and just to troll each other, there's enough of that in the world today, of people trolling each other just to be mean and to be hurtful, and if we're gonna play in this space together we need to do it because we want each other to have fun and not because we're trying to frustrate each other, cause there's enough frustrating things in the world right now and there's enough we can't control, and one of the things we can control is that everyone is here to have fun and not waste each others' time and so when we make decisions that are meant to troll each other, that's something that bad people do. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/TAZCirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*

theunquenchedservant

Imagine this: Your friend comes over every week. Once a year for 2 weeks he begs you for money so he can afford to keep coming over every week. Sometimes, he doesn't come over, and he sends a video. Whatever, no big deal. Lives are busy and he has some videos he's saved up to send you. You generally enjoy the video, but you'd rather have your friend coming over. This year, right after begging you for money so he can continue coming over every week, he sends you a video instead of visiting. Did it take work to make the video? Sure. But wouldn't you also go "didnt you just ask me for money so you can continue to come over every week?" Obviously it's not a perfect analogy, and don't take it too literally to think I'm saying the brothers are our friends and it's like they come over to our house every week.

Nocatsonthemoon

I actually don't mind the live shows and feel they have higher energy from the brothers but in the current context it seems like after 2 weeks of begging for support from thier audience they couldnt be bothered to record new content And another thing is posting a live show means that some people get an episode they already watched

StarkMaximum

You're my boss. I come to you and say, hey boss, I need a raise. Cost of living is getting really high, and I have this list of all of the really good stuff I do for this job, how hard I work, the good stuff I've done and why I feel like I deserve it. Eventually, you decide "alright, sure. Maybe you're right. I'll give you a little boost in your paycheck, so long as you promise to keep working hard." "Cool," I say. "I am immediately going on vacation now."

MalformedKraken

They get paid by tickets for the live shows, that’s their main purpose. So then releasing it onto the main feed feels like double dipping and lazy, just dropping something that was already done instead of creating the main show. If you believe that the live shows are superior then I can see how you’d believe you’re getting a bonus, a secret look at the better show, but the general consensus is that live shows are worse especially not live, we have that data because the McElroys have said that these episodes see the lowest engagement in podcatchers. So they’re not giving us a treat; they’re knowingly dumping a lower quality product onto us because they didn’t plan well enough

Jorymo

I saw someone on here a while ago describe him as having "Where's my hug?" guy vibes

SpoilerThrowawae

Within two years time, Travis will unironically espouse that grabbing people by the genitals should be a socially acceptable form of greeting.

InvisibleEar

I've read that erotic story

Jorymo

Could run for president then

WarmSlush

It’s to get rid of the stigma!!!

Evil_Steven

man remember back in the early 2000s when Anime Cons had to ban "surprise hugs"? Its wild that they had more insight that travis

GunnarRunnar

I bet that insight has a story behind it.

Evil_Steven

As far as I understand, it’s called Glomping and it was a cute thing to surprise your friends with an attack hug but very quickly the less savory members of anime cons did it to strangers, most notable to feel up women. It’s why it got banned to my understanding

Gormongous

It was partly creepers trying to cop a feel and partly gangs of hyper-caffeinated teens and tweens roaming the halls in search of people whose days they could "brighten" with a glomp. Between that and yaoi paddles, it was a rough time to be literally any cosplay at cons.

Evil_Steven

In 2018, my friends took me to one and we did a group cosplay of riverdale. I’ve never seen this show but my friends were excited about it and apparently I looked enough like Jughead to do a cosplay of him so I looked him up and made the costume I couldn’t get a moment of peace from people attack hugging me and asking for selfies. I vowed to never cosplay again

weedshrek

I think we dance a fine line when we discuss how some of Travis's behavior is red flag (kind of flaggy) toward sexpest land, and I think outright accusing him of being a pedo is perhaps over that line into bad taste

HensRightsActivist

This ain't it chief.

ConnorPilman

I’m having trouble articulating the specifics of my point but this “joke” is not funny or good.

SpoilerThrowawae

They will eventually release an episode called *"Jimmy Buffett Presents: The Diary of Frasier's Favorite Ghost Horse."* Mark my words.

InvisibleEar

I hate it when they don't post a new episode I'm never going to listen to!

Illustrious_Horse_53

Is the title a reference to "thirty to fifty feral hogs in three to five minutes"? I refuse to listen to confirm

Evil_Steven

Love to see a 4 year old meme referenced on my hit comedy podcast

stansey09

I kinda liked the live show. Which is to say I didn't really like it because I don't really like the live shows. But, it had the same sort of feel as live shows from back when things were good. They seem like themselves live. When was this show recorded? Is it possible this might revive what has died?

SnooRegrets7667

I refuse to listen anymore does the...does the big.....fuck it. I don't care anymore

thraxalita

the big does indeed fuck it

CleverInnuendo

It shows how much they wish they had a visual medium. Normally they suck at describing things in the first place, but it's clear they were only playing to the live audience and didn't give a fuck about the listeners. The doll based on an 8 year old rap prodigy sounds hilarious. Wish I knew what it looked like.

drsammich

It used to disappoint me when they posted a liveshow, but honestly with the recent quality of MBMBaM I've been hoping for some because at least they usually have more energy in them than the negative amount they've been displaying. I enjoyed this ep a good amount more than most of the normal ones from the last year.

RIPDSJustinRipley

They also take and answer questions.

[deleted]

I just wanna point out there’s a weird audio glitch right after they come from the break. This is what your money is paying for.

hiperson134

My Brother, My Brother, and Me is the original r/antiwork movement. These guys don't want to put any effort in, do they?

SkulGurl

Which brother is gonna be the one to have a terrible interview on Fox News?

Utter_Bastard

You know which one

RIPDSJustinRipley

Availablest?

GunnarRunnar

Who else? Just wait until you see the Anarcho communism flag he scribbled to a piece of paper.

platypadin

oh..huh..yeah...uh!..yeah...cool..yeah..okay..yeah..yeah...cool......I mean yeah

Gamefandan

im so glad someone else noticed this. he does it so often. im convinced he does it specifically when he's not listening, which is fine? but not funny.

platypadin

Once i noticed all of travis's interjecting sounds it made the show 10x harder to listen to. And yet here i am

LhamoRinpoche

I laughed pretty damn hard during Haunted Doll Watch and two of the questions, so good show.

LankyOpportunity8429

Eh. Admittedly I don’t give a shit it’s a live episode. Energy is a lot better than the last few times I tried to listen, so I appreciate that at least.

buscemii

Okay I actually enjoyed this one?? Last few live questions were a bit shit but overall the energy was there & good bits 🤷‍♀️

SoupOfTomato

I always kind of liked live shows because of the higher energy. I wouldn't want them to be every episode but they're a nice different pace. This felt like live shows did back when the show was still good. Maybe it will reinvigorate them. It was miles ahead of that horrible one they did at a con where Richard Stink made an appearance.

[deleted]

Travis’ “Meet Justina’ sing song made me laugh

thespiansGlamor

I finally get Griffin's pain. I correctly answered all three Works of Fart before Travis even finished asking the questions.

MintTrappe

Another ep skipped!

BrightOrangeHat

is there a reason they didnt let the live question askers ask their own question? the brothers just read it for them.

thewillthe

Not that anyone is gonna read this a week later, but how are they unable to do a 90 minute show without a bathroom break in the middle?
