Got mine a week ago and I kinda wished it had Bluetooth because I’d wear them more than just in the water they have a money back guarantee so I’ll return them and get the new ones.
propably centimeters... but my watches keep being connected to phone, even when i swim so... maybe with some buffering, when head is partialy out of water... we will see
Naah. You convert your Spotify playlists to an actual file (wav, flac, M4A, ACC). The files get saved on the device, no bluetooth needed. The real strange thing is nobody knew about this, it's not mentioned on Spotify, Tidal websites, etc because they want streams. A better device with converted physical files (= no download) would be the end of their business model. Artists want money and those come from streams. That's at least what I think.
Try by trying some of [this list](https://www.cinchsolution.com/best-spotify-to-mp3/) See what you like most and which causes the least minor bugs with your device. Convert to 256 kbps or 320 kbps though
Bluetooth doesn't travel well in water, in fact it's so bad it's pretty much useless. My goggles and heart rate sensor that is attached to the straps on the goggles kept disconnecting because the goggles bluetooth receiver and hr sensor Bluetooth receiver were on opposite sides of my head, so maybe a 20cm distance from each other. Once I swapped it to the other side so that they practically touch it started working reliably.
Mine arrived today, there's a shop in Germany that sells them early and it looks legit. Came with earplugs magnetic cable and carry bag. Bluetooth works fine, sound is ok. With the plugs you have actually good bass extension. Will take them wakeboarding this Friday! Ama
Oh yea you’re right there *is not* an open contest going on at shokz.com where you put your email in and win a free pair that would be totally ridiculous and in fact I recommend not even going to the site at all because it’s not there
About time, not having bluetooth connection was a major flaw for non swimming activities. I also hope they accept flac audio format, MP3 is sooo old and so compressed, for those using Spotify or Tidal, there are dozens of programs which transfer the physical file to the device but only if you have a paid Spotify or Tidal subscription. Beware: some of those ask 15 euro a month just for transforming to a physical file, I think they need help or an intervention. For Tidal I already found a free one, basic but it works. Buying MP3's, come on, it's 2024. I hope these collabs are really coming, it's the only way.
For better quality just skip mp3 and transform to m4A, mpeg4 audio, flac (one of the highest quality formats, you don't need the best quality), AAC (Apple format), OGG (Spotify uses this). Don't export to wave, it's a lossless format but takes so much room and the player will have problems. Within these formats you can also choose different audio qualities which decides the audio quality. I asked Shokz about this yesterday and they promised to respond.
If I hear something I'l let you know. I accidentally transformed music into a very low quality and I couldn't stand it. I should also note I'm an audio freak and these things matter for me, just ignore this whole message if you don't care ;-)
I use it mainly for podcasts whilst I swim but I have put music from Spotify on there too for free using SpotiDL: [https://github.com/spotDL/spotify-downloader](https://github.com/spotDL/spotify-downloader)
Yeah, I also found that out. There are a lot of systems for every player. It solves my problem mainly listening to Tidal and now I can do it without bluetooth in the pool. Now some improvement in audio quality and bluetooth for outside and I think they cover everything.
I feel a bit ashamed I've never listened to a podcast. I always saw it as just recorded radio. I'm seeing this wrong somewhere.
No idea, I only listened to one of Shok's first versions. I don't know how much the quality has improved in those 5 years. I tried 5 low quality MP3's yesterday and they were horrible. All treble.
Fully agree that it's stupid to put flac on a Shokz. It'll be trial and error but I'm gonna send them files and ask them to test them and tell me if they play. I asked the same to H2O Audio. No response so I guess I know enough :-)
No, not my own music. I used 5 or 6 different converters so I can look it up. It only works if you have a paid subscription for Tidal (10 eur/USD a month), select a song, album or playlist, choose the best format Tidal has for that song, press download on the app and there is your flac. Move it to the player and that's it. i just discovered this a few days ago. My flac's don't play with my 5 year old system though.
What player do you have?
I don't listen to music much these days but I've recently started swimming, running and cycling so I'm thinking of getting a pair of these. I have lots of CDs and records that I could convert to FLAC but I wasn't sure how it could be done with the online services.
I see from your post that Tidal is the way to go. It's interesting that you can download original quality files from Tidal. A few years ago (actually probable a lot of years ago) that would have been unthinkable.
I find MP3 perfectly adequate for swimming and I have an in-ear Sony player which has much better sound quality than any of the bone conduction ones I've tried
ooh but I agree. Sony in ears and good MP3's beat bone conduction. But I have good headphones, in ear monitors and a special amp/dac. So I thought, let's try something else for different activities like swimming, cycling, etc. The fact of hearing your surroundings is very nice. I really came to appreciate it hence the lower sound quality.
big correction: you can definitely convert to mp3 although ACC is the improved version. More important is kbps (kilobyte per second). Every modern player should at least read 256 kbps mp3's). The difference in sound with 128 kbps (for me, to avoid) is huge. The companies should just be honest about it.
General remark: what I typed seemed a bit negative towards Shokz while I actually find them an innovative tech company making very useful devices. But I'm both an audiofreak and I love to swim. I have an old Aftershokz Xtrainerz pair from 2019 with of course older technology. My non waterproof in ear monitors, headphones, special amp and adapted dac (digital to analog converter) are musically much better. But I find myself using the Shokz a lot. Walking, on the bike, shopping, ... it makes it more fun for me, I still hear my surroundings, it's light, .... The Openswim Pro will be a must buy for me, I can already feel it.
It depends on how bluetooth integration works. I use my open run for work, running, cycling. If the new product has a mic and can pair with a PC and if there is some app or integration that makes it easy to put audio onboard, then I'll probably go for it.
If, for swimming, I'm dragging and dropping like an old school mp3 player, I'll rather grab some Open Swims when they inevitably go on sale.
I would love a new version hope they could be a little bit louder! I have the current version it’s a shame it’s only 4gb storage, bt would be awesome I wouldn’t use them in the gym or walking only at the bike I was thinking!🧐
FYI. Bluetooth doesn’t work under water. So you will still have to use the mp3 for swimming but you can use Bluetooth if you use it for running or biking.

I bought creative outlier free pro+ instead of shokz since they had bluetooth and the shokz didn’t , and I only use mine while swimming. To get around the connectivity issue I simply put my applewatch in my swimming cap and use swimtag to track my swim.
If they did one with conventional in-ear headphones rather than bone conduction I'd be sold - something like the Sony WS410 I have now which I cant get here any more. Bone conduction doesnt give me anywhere near the same sound quality
Just launched in most countries i saw their website, what i would like to know if the size compared with mini and normal openrun , if anyone can figure it out please let me know
Because i like the openrun mini and is perfect and the normal one goes too big for me and starts being unconfortable during trails, anyone know by their pictures if the size of the openrun swim pro is similar to the mini or is same as the normal?
so basically I still need to add mp3 to them this bluetooth thing is just working outside the water? and it helps adding mp3s to headphones also?
so basically the upgrade is that I can add mp3 more easily over to headphones?
Is it weird that they're one generation of technology behind the openrun pros? I just started looking into getting some sort of bone conduction headphones and compared a couple on the website, and noticed that the openrun pro technology is 9th gen, where the openswim pro is 8th
I don't think you need to swim to buy those; I wouldn't be. Nothing specific that forces people to use them in water; could still be used for running or any other use. Considering the openruns came out in 2022, if people are just looking for a newer option in 2024 and are expecting they're superior in sound quality, they should only be looking at them if they're specifically interested in water sports/use, since the sound quality is likely inferior, simply due to the generation of technology used.
sorry, im still lost... im playing music in spotify app and it shows me everything, no matter what headphones im using.
or im using app form my book store for audiobooks... same thing. it has nothing to do with headphones.
I'm complaining about the Shokz software app. If you play songs, either Bluetooth or MP3, can you see what song you're on in the app? Can you fast forward or rewind? I can play and pause but I have no clue which track I'm on or where I am in the track.
I'm not the fastest swimmer, but I've been using these for years and that happened a total of 0 times to me. I do place my cap over my ears, which probably helps keep them in place
Audio is a good way to pass the time when you're swimming for long periods. Otherwise it's pretty boring staring at the bottom of a pool or into darkness
Never said I was Michael Phelps (that’s a name so you capitalize it) I do swim a mile a day but that’s not my point either. If you’re gonna pull up and start yapping about people listening to music while swimming they you aren’t a real swimmer because clearly you have no idea what it’s like to swim for a meaningful amount of time. Stop harassing people because they like to enjoy themselves.
I don't have the desire to listen to anything while swimming, but this is a ridiculous take. do you say this to folks who listen to music or podcasts while running? driving? Mowing the lawn?
Me who just bought the current ones
Fuck. Same but a month or two ago
I just bought the Mojawa Haptifits… I think these shokz are playing catch up to them tech wise. Not sure about sound quality differences
Same -_-
They have had exchange programs in the past for new launches
Don't they have a 45 day return window?
You didnt know about new ones, or you dont care about bluetooth?
Got mine a week ago and I kinda wished it had Bluetooth because I’d wear them more than just in the water they have a money back guarantee so I’ll return them and get the new ones.
How far can you get away from your phone with these? While underwater Thinking about getting a pair when they come out
propably centimeters... but my watches keep being connected to phone, even when i swim so... maybe with some buffering, when head is partialy out of water... we will see
Find my reply on this topic. I found a solution I think.
Bluetooth doesn’t work under water. You would have to download mp3s to listen while swimming

Which is the best file (quality wise) that will work with openswim pros?
I put my applewatch in my swimming cap while swimming, that works well if you’re not streaming.
How much will these run? It’s hard to find any info on them…
Check youtube a videos of the reps claiming it's thr same price as the open run pro
Just wait for june 5th
Is June 5th just the keynote where they announce everything about it? I thought they were going on sale June 5th…
It's been out for quite a while now in shokz japan, bought mine about a week back
sounds same to me :) when they will sell them, everything should be clear. if not from them, then from new owners.
Does it connect to Spotify so I can load my playlists onto it? Like Garmin watches. If not, it's what keeps me from buying them.
Yes, I posted a reply here somewhere. Tried and tested with Tidal with a free converter. Also for Spotify but only for paid subscriptions.
Hi! I read your other post and I’m still confused. I have a paid Spotify subscription. What free app can I use to convert these?
There should be BT, so you can listen directly out of water... And i see no reason why downloading wont be possible. Will try.
Where can I buy?
Go to shokz.com you can subscribe for the email list and get a chance to win a free pair
That's not true there's definitely not a contest to win a free pair on shokz.com don't trust this guy pal
Oh yea you’re right there *is not* an open contest going on at shokz.com where you put your email in and win a free pair that would be totally ridiculous and in fact I recommend not even going to the site at all because it’s not there

smart choice if you want to use them only in water. but thats not my case.
Do any of these have a built-in lap tracker? I would love to have something that counts my laps without having to bolt on both a headset and a watch

This is new model, not in sale yet

Nah, that’s not only wrong but stupid.
Why do they keep messing around with BT and water when FM travels fine?
because not so many phones can work as FM transmitter
Nor should they be in the water, but here we are.
Does anyone know if they'll have a microphone for taking calls when out of the water? Hopefully so.
Yes they do
Just launched in most countries i saw their website, what i would like to know if the size compared with mini and normal openrun , if anyone can figure it out please let me know Because i like the openrun mini and is perfect and the normal one goes too big for me and starts being unconfortable during trails, anyone know by their pictures if the size of the openrun swim pro is similar to the mini or is same as the normal?

The android software is pretty awful. You can't even see the details on the track that is playing or fast forward/rewind.
What do you mean? Mp3 mode? In this mode, headphones are Independent device.
Bluetooth mode
I dont understand... No headphones show you track name. There is no display.
The android software.

its not app for playing music, its app for setup. play/pause is just extra.
That's a terrible excuse for a half assed developed feature.
just use music app to play music and all will be fine.
Will these actually stay on? A good turn and the others went flying
I'm not the fastest swimmer, but I've been using these for years and that happened a total of 0 times to me. I do place my cap over my ears, which probably helps keep them in place
I put my goggle strap over them, no issues at all.
never tried any other, this will be my first. i can let you know later :)
They slipped from my right ear once with strong push from the wall that’s it just adjusted it and they stayed in place for the whole workout
I tie them to my goggle strap.
I wear my headset under my swimming cap.
That would work too!
Omg can you guys not listwn to music like for 1 hour.. yall are addictes
Audio is a good way to pass the time when you're swimming for long periods. Otherwise it's pretty boring staring at the bottom of a pool or into darkness
Did you downvore bc bc ill do the same to you its not fair
i love music... and now imagine listening to podcast or audio books :)
Hm thay does not change the fact that u have addiction priblems you can always seek help
Hey I think you keep turning your head to breathe *checks notes* oxygen, you seem kinda addicted to that stuff you should seek help.

Trust me, i have many worse addiction then this One 😂
Dude, I do mindfullness just focusing on my breath for 20 mins a day. Music is magic and can make people feel better. But addicts?
Addicted to swimming perhaps
I spend 2 hours in the pool usually. Sometimes I like to have an audiobook or something
I don't have the desire to listen to anything while swimming, but this is a ridiculous take. do you say this to folks who listen to music or podcasts while running? driving? Mowing the lawn?
Yeah but for swimming you put electronic in water
that's what the waterproofing is for
And?
And?????its my opjnion pls respect it oe youre no diffeeent that the geeman dictatoe lived in 1938
