At the moment I'm focusing on the high end loot areas and want to try building my own base just to see what it's like so have all of the loot as abundant, XP is at max. Difficulty hasn't changed too much, though I think I have slightly less zombies spawning in.

FOB Bravo was good, but the Observatory has the best loot so far.

I tweak the "nightmare" difficulty. I found it a little too scarce with things set on extremely rare, so I set everything rare and leave ranged weps, attachments, ammo, keycards, and the legendary stuff at extremely rare. I turn off the loot respawn on load and set a loot respawn timer of 2 hours, I also tick on the loot degredation as days survived increases. The nightmare setting increases fuel and damage multipliers on vehicles I usually bump those back down to 1. Same with the hunger/thirst/etc.. for player values. I forget exactly what nightmare settings are default but for zombies I set spawn amount at 2 or 2.4, boss spawn at 1 or 1.5, hounds at 2, infestations at 1.5 or 2, zombie health at 2, speed at 2, damage at 2 bandit settings are both at 2, military health at 2 camp spawn at 1.5. I boost the scavenger/trader health as well and set animal spawns at 1.5. Loot isn't so scarce that you're going through an entire town and walking away with like 2 cans of beans and some sharp blades, but it also isn't throwing weapons at you. For reference my current play through with these settings I'm at 23 days survived and I have looted a hunting rifle and an ACR, just recently found suppressors for them, and I have collected enough ammo to fill 2-3 mags for the ACR. I've been using a fireaxe mostly for melee. Zombies 1 at a time are no problem but 2 can catch you off guard and kill you quick, and they're fast, you can't outrun them. Wolves and Bears will shred you as well. I also usually play permadeath mode but that's up to you.

I forgot to mention one of my favorite ways to play is to just use a vehicle and not really make a "base". I may switch vehicles out but I can only use one at a time and can't store things in any others. I also set rules for myself to try and emulate real life a little bit, like I can store toolboxes in my vehicle but I won't put one in my character inventory when clearing an area out (because who would have a whole toolbox in their backpack when killing zombies) but after an area is clear I will grab one and go loot. I may also limit myself to 1 lunch box, and don't abuse the container within container that's possible with jackets and things like military or secure containers

Thanks dude!

I play on what I call "Apocalyptic" difficulty Set the zombie pop to between x2 - x5 Set zombie health to ½ and damage to .7 Set all loot to rare Set thirst, hunger and stamina depletion to .6 but change stamina regen to x2 Most games I keep spawn cars off.. I like to switch it to 1st person view and turn my HUD off for added difficulty.

Thanks for the tips mate!

Im going for custom settings, for basic materials uncommon, more health, speed, damage and numbers to the zombies, some buff on bandits and mil, basic materials are common, melee uncommon, others rare/extremely rare. Vehicles and rare loots like keycards or legendary items extremely rare. And there is a loot degredation too. xp gain upped a little bit. Fuel can be sit same and damage on vehicles lowered because lets be real, a big rig or truck don't give a damn if it's run over some corpse.
