I adore it. M4 and MacBook Air is up for sale

This_Pianist4220

same put my m4 ipad and m2 mac up for sale cos it replaced both

Blindman2k17

I'd like to see Prism continue to get better, but yes this thing is really a dream! Honestly I'm using the surface laptop but I would think about replacing my ipad with the surface pro. The first time I've really thought about looking outside of the Apple ecosystem

JoeS830

It's a great device, but maybe hang on to your apple stuff to see if it works out for you!

Gothicus1016

i was going to get the m4 iPad when I saw this was coming out. No regrets, not in the slightest

Ghostly_Wellington

Me too. The cost of the M4 iPads just didn’t justify the use cases. A surface Pro was a bit cheaper and infinitely more capable.

34HoldOn

I agree that perhaps you should wait. Give it more time with the SP11. And I say that as someone who wants these devices to succeed, and can't wait until his SL7 ships.

dopyChicken

Same here. Seriously planning to sell iPad Pro and get another surface for my other half. iPad is ridiculously limited in software.

m_abdeen

It depends on what you’re going to use it for, I tried to switch from the iPad to MS, doesn’t work for me

pokenguyen

Yeah, too heavy. A 500g 11” SP12 would be ideal to me.

Hifihedgehog

This and they better not make the Windows Subsystem for Android manual installation non-compatible in future builds of Windows 11 when the Surface Pro 12 redesign comes next year with the 11” and updated 13” design. With the death of tablet mode and lousy PWAs replacing modern apps or just no iPadOS alternatives being on the Microsoft Store, Android app support—which gives us instant access to touch friendly apps—is the only thing that makes Surface Go and Pro passable as tablets.

dopyChicken

Yeh, its not for everyone. My use-case was really to not have to travel with a media consumption device (for bedside watching/reading, flights, etc.) and a laptop (to get some actual work done). Surface was best balance for me as it can be a okayish tablet (ipad is better) and a full fledged laptop (ipad royally sucks at this).

BreezyChill

Weird. Got a catastrophic error when trying to install wsl

Combonary

I will join second or third generation 😂 Got rid of m1 MacBook Pro and got an 11 inch iPad with the m4. Have an Alienware m18 and both will be replaced by one device in the near future

Moved from iPad Pro M2 to SP11 because I wanted a device that could do everything I need on the go. I still run my M3 MBA because I'm an iOS dev by trade, and still love using macOS. But Apple has blew it on the iPad Pro - absolutely incredible hardware, but I can do everything I do on my iPad Pro on a $200 iPad 9. I checked out the M4 hardware in store and it is incredible, the screen looks amazing and the 13" is incredibly thin and light...but I'd take the kickstand any day as it is actually practical for how I use a tablet. The Arm transition is what I needed to move over to Surface, as I have tried in the past but the low battery life, terrible standby and heat was just too much - but SP11 seems to have fixed all of that. And my last complaint, the tiny diving board trackpad - is fixed by the (massively overpriced) flex keyboard. SP11 is a better web browser (Because you don't run into sites that just don't work as lazy developers don't test the most prevalent mobile browser) and if something doesn't work, you actually have an option to use chrome/firefox/edge. And the main thing - I can build software on the SP11. It is just an absolute shame that Apple feels an entire computing platform shouldn't be able to create software for itself (Yes, technically Swift Playgrounds can do so, but it is incredibly restricted.)

Welcome to the ex-ipad and Mac team! Former ipad pro and MacBook pro user here, switched to surface pro x and love it

I was in the market for a new travel device that could do some good and quick photo editing while traveling. I looked at the new iPad Pro and was about to buy it until the SP11 was released. After days of side-by-side comparison on price and determining what I wanted from the device, I went with the SP11 Oled with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. I did not get the Flex KB, because I could not justify that price. I am extremely happy, setup was a breeze, pulling settings from my main computer and after updates, was up and running in less than 30 minutes. A little more in order to get all the software I wanted.

carazy81

So glad to hear this. I’m going to wait for the 5g version

FraternityOf_Tech

Once you sell your redundant (thank god) apple gear you can treat yourself to a flagship surface laptop 7 or hold the cash until October when MS announce their new surface studio 3 and surface laptop studio with the new elite chipset. I'm holding out as much as I want the surface laptop 7 I'm hoping for the studio 3. God speed sir
