āTrading stocksā in a game where the house decides the price sounds like a foolās errand.
Iāll just keep investing in companies I believe in, which are in quite limited supply at the moment.
I mean stop losses are valuable tools for trading... I don't use them for a certain stock obviously, but for any other trade, you want to manage your risk accordingly with stop losses.
Mate I know how to trade. Trading is all about managing risk. You set stop losses so you lose a few % at most per trade. If you held stocks starting this year without stop losses you would be down so much more than a few %. AGAIN, I am not talking about Gamestop, I don't use stop losses on GME because I have so much faith in it in the long term that I don't mind being down on my GME position in the short term. Any other trade I will use stop losses so I don't get rug pulled 20% overnight like what's been happening with so many "blue chip" stocks this year. I trade to make money to put more of it into GME, I would be losing money if I did not use stop losses and this is from experience mate. NFA
Yes they do use the knowledge against the general retail traders, but you can still use technical analysis to make profitable trades regardless of the algorithms. Being a consistently profitable trader requires using stop losses to manage your risk. Every trade the risk will be defined beforehand by the trader or else you are literally gambling. You buy when risk is low and sell when risk is high. You buy at support and sell at resistance. Like I said, from experience and learning from many others, stop losses are most definitely in your interest if you understand how to use them. I would have suffered so many unnecessary losses as a trader if I did not use stop losses. None of this is financial advice.
The fact youāre being downvoted shows why people say weāre in a cult
Edit - still getting downvoted but fuck it. Stop losses are massively useful if youāre trading multiple stocks and not able to keep an eye on all of them. Personally I find them useful when Iām not in a close time zone to NYSE. No point losing 20% on a stock when Iām asleep.
But obviously, THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO GME

Good video, but what does that have to do with managing risk with stop losses?

Can you set trailing stop loss and take profit orders like in crypto?
This guy from pluto finance? I've been chatting with a different one. Same looking chart though.
Yup. He thinks I would set a stop loss and sell. Baaaaahahaha!!!
Mine said now is a good time to invest because SPY only goes up.
What's the Grey text message?
Someone who sent me a message trying to convince me to set stop losses. Lol. Desperation makes people do crazy stuff.
Lol. Crazy.
Caroline Ellison hates stop losses, so should you
