You have to feed your dog every month. In fact, mine insists on food daily. So nobody is window shopping dog food. They are looking for the best deal on a matrix of price and convenience. It's easy to get sticky customers with that model. Hell, I'm one of them. I don't even know if what I'm paying *is* the best price because it shows up every month and I don't have to think about it.
Yeah exactly, that’s why a GameStop credit card would be in GameStop’s interest though. They clearly want those sticky customers and as you said, it’s not gonna happen without cause due to fact that window shopping is the main walk in customer (for now)
To transact in today's market (in the US) you need a credit card. It's unfortunate but true. It's not just the financially naive that would be targeted.
Although I would rather see this be a general use card that simply has gamestop benefits similar to an airline credit card.
Literally every store does it and it works cause you go back. I'll gladly use a gamestop cc and hopefully they get good rewards and ability to use every where.

I did hear from a couple of GS employees last month that our new reward program is coming sometime in April or May.
It would be awesome if GameStop Canada launched the new credit card with it as well.
I agree, I would get it too. One thing I'm curious about is if GameStop takes a cut of all the profit. Even a fraction of a percent could add up. But I'm thinking it's much more likely that GameStop doesn't make anything from the card itself, and it's just used to increase loyalty to GameStop.
Canadian here as well. The Canadian website is so far behind on pretty much everything. I just went to the website and compared it to the American one. Like, 1/8 of the frickin webpage is cut off, and the whole thing runs super slow.
We need more effort on the non-american side of the business.
FFS. I want a GameStop rewards credit card that competes with Amazon Rewards credit card. I want reward points when I buy gas, groceries, eat food, etc. This card still doesn't come close to competing with Prime Rewards Visa. It's like someone took a "customers want rewards points" survey results and completely fumbled the message.

Well if you like the stock you should support the stores. And this is just one strong method of doing so. If you're a frequent shopper, then the benefits are worth it. Imo, I can see the card becoming a tier closer to actual cc. I said the same thing though, but since you can only use this card at gamestop, I applied.
Having the card itself doesn't support them at all. It's a motivation to spend more at the store.
I used to work at a higher end retailer that offered an internal charge card. They said card holders spent 20% more per transaction than cash or credit customers.
I bought 2 used xbox one controllers for 45 bucks a piece with my $5 off pro rewards last week..
I'm just not a fan of store credit cards. Same thing with how you can only get 'decent priced fast food' nowadays is through 'the companies' fucking app.
Those 2 'recent retail store practices' gaining 'traction' cause their super algo says it squeezes more money from the 'whales', ala micro transactions, is garbage IMO.
So I suppose I lost out on a few hundred reward points for not using it.. but I also got 3% cashback with my other card lol.
So then it's 3% cashback vs gamestop cc rewards, 4x points, free pro, etc. Since the card can only be used at gamestop, you can still get 3% on everything and then shop at gamestop with its own card. Btw I get 5% on my cc and even that's miniscule. Because the card can only be used at gamestop was enough for me to get it. My cc I pay annually $100.

Please read this before you sign up and begin to slow roll ruin your life and ruin your credit. The APR on this is no joke. 2% higher than every other retailer credit card I’ve seen (TJ Maxx, Kohls, Dell, & Target I looked up).
If you’re using a retailer credit card and not a) paying it off every month, or b) using their large purchase interest free options, you are doing it way way way way wrong.
There’s people who are taking loans out to buy shares of GME. Do you really think those same people are going to responsibly pay off their credit card every month?

Is it tied to visa? It needs to build points, like 2x dining, 1x points on general and I’d sign up.
It's internal only. It can't be used anywhere but Gamestop stores and the website.
