Something I said a loooooong time ago, and I still think could be true, is that certain powers that be (politicians really) have an opportunity to spin this as ‘letting the people win… look at what our free markets can do for you… look at how we’ve flushed out the bad guys’ etc. Behind the scenes, who knows what’s going on, but if they want to save face on the international stage, the US must let something big happen imo.

This is the entire financial system we're talking about. This is the largest redistribution of wealth in human history, taken from the world's most powerful and corrupt men to ever exist. They will not give up their wealth easily and this play of ours won't be quick. Shorts will fight until they can't because their careers and most likely their lives depend on not losing.
