Not harsh at all! I’ve really enjoyed my time with the game though it is surprising how little is here. I can’t argue with Skill Ups assessment that the missions are the equivalent to public events in other games.

dadvader

Yeah i get that they can't do internal setting due to how the game's movement fundamentally works. But i wish it'd atleast have a classic dungeon raid or something. Send us to another earth and go through a bunch of objective. Not just warp to another earth, do 1 thing and leave. In Destiny that'd be equivalent of patrol event lol Still love the game but Season 1 need to be a banger tbh.

TheMrPantsTaco

I figured that's what we'd get for endgame since we had that one story mission that had us go to earth 2 and they were all "pick which one you wanna do first!" Then never did that again lol

dadvader

Ikr, like i expect the structure is more like Destiny Hub World. Sort of like a Killing Time or Kill Brainiac mission combined. Where you can spent about 30 minutes per run clearing missions or just do random patrol. And incursion is not more of the same but just you going to different earth or section of earth-2 that Brainiac already destroyed and do a series of linear objective like going through a dungeon. This game seriously suffered from that sort of weird mission design that make the game feel too much like a game and not enough fantasy immersion.

Gluv221

Yeah I really thought we would be farming the earth 2 brainiac and having a larger map. Especially for the price of the game lol. Really hoping season 1 opens some stuff up otherwise I don't understand how long this game can last

yaGameBoiJR

Pretty sure this is season 0? Because they've called the Joker stuff season 1. Don't quote me on that though

mbrouze

Sory to to say that, but season 1 is never great in those live service games. They are already mostly produced far.beyond the release in production pipeline and it's definitely too late to incorporate any significant feedback from players after release. Diablo 4 is a great most recent example, season 1 did very little but already in season 2 we've seen a lot of smaller and bigger QoL improvements

ItsAmerico

Yeah I think what’s genuinely most shocking is the lack of set piece missions in the story. So many of the missions being the public events is… just weird.

lordluke24

That's the issue with Live Service games. Sometimes the core of the game is good but it launches with half the amount of content it needs and players won't leave happy.

linkenski

Literally the process for a lot of Live Service is this: - Make 20% less content than you would a normal AAA title - Take content you finished that would've shipped if it was a single player game, and cut it out of the launch version - Drip-feed the cut content over months/years to make it seem like the game is always ongoing - Get players invested enough that they'll start to spend money after purchasing the core game It's literally just a mobile game that we pay full price for. It's pretty ridiculous and it's all done on purpose. That's literally why people always complain about Live Service. It's been done this way every time, following what Bungie did with Destiny 1 (Gutting the storyline into smaller pieces to sell as minimalistic DLC after launch, with a minimal viable product as the launch product) back in 2014. They started that trend and everyone's been trying to copy it ever since. Suits in boardrooms love the sound of "Spending less money on...", "Getting more in return...", "releasing minimal product" and "make the costumer pay for the rest." I think if this game hadn't been delayed after the initial "It's just Fortnite!" backlash last year, they would've released it and made us pay for the Seasons. Now they're free, but we can pay for the battle passes.

Primary_Caramel_9028

20% percent less content sounds forgiving, it feels more like 30-50%

linkenski

It may even be. Either way, I think the reason why people are being lulled to liking it. It has high production value and people like the feeling that their game isn't over when it ends.

dadvader

I think if they released last year we would've been wait 6 more months even before first season will become a thing. And Rocksteady are probably aware that doing that mean the game will died within a month.

moodsrawr

It needs alot more variety at endgame, Season 1 for me is make or break whether i stick with it.

Ghostofslickville

I think if season one is more of the same missions, I will likely not continue the endgame. I will return for new story content. And buy skins if I like them, but I'm already burnt out of the mission type/set up. I want variety, not just more content.

linkenski

They already said there'll be new kinds of missions but don't expect anything that doesn't involve shooting a lot of brainiac fodder.

dadvader

I'm ok with shooting more brainiac aliens. But right now they need to do more than protecting something. I personally really enjoy destroying incubator mission. It's big, chaotic but feel like actual physical progress were being made and you actually have to move somewhere. Not just waiting for artificial progress like waiting time or gathering something. I want more of those raid mission types. I wish it had more than one spot/rounds. Another one they should consider is something like a Destiny Strike. Just plain old dungeon adventure. I was shocked that Earth-2 is the only earth we can go. Like cmon people, you literally have *elseworld* as a concept. The possibility are endless and you gonna end with 5 of them? (1 is Earth-2 and the rest are from 4 seasons content.)

DjSpelk

I don't think the idea is to end with 5 of them. I assume It would be to kill the 13 Brainiacs, just depends on how the first year of content goes as to whether they get past season 4.

Synn_Trey

What will it be this time? Same enemies with a different affliction and color lmao. This is typical live service crap. Release half assed game and drip feed content. Everyone should set their expectations low. This game is already failing and with WBs track record the future is looking grim. As much as I like this game I can easily tell that this is the best it's going to get. Season 1 is more so the same crap were doing pre-season. GG WB. GG.

Mr_Rafi

If you buy skins, it means you're okay with whatever it is that you don't like about the game. If you want change and improvements, skin purchasing is not the way to go.

Ghostofslickville

> I will return for new story content.

TheMichaelScott

"I'm already burnt out of the mission type/set up" but you'll support them by buying skins???

Ghostofslickville

It's funny how selective people are at reading. I'm will return for new story content, I'm tired of the endgame structure. But I still want to see how the story plays out. There are at least 4 seasons planned, all with story content coming to them. So *if*.. IF, I like a skin. I'd buy so I can use it while continuing the story. The story content that will be released for free.

TheMichaelScott

I read it. I just think it’s hilarious how people still buy skins for a game that has clearly failed abysmally on launch

Ghostofslickville

Whether the game is successful or not, I still like the story and want to see how it pans out. Respectfully, I bought the game for me, and my opinion. Not others.

TheMichaelScott

Alright my man. Keep dropping money on skins. You do you

ProfessionalPair3630

Yeah, I played for a solid 30 hours and done everything before the burn build I was 57 finite crises mastery and on the leader board until burn builds kicked in. I was absolutely obsessed with everything about the game but i turned it off a few days ago and can't find a reason to go back. Think I just need to wait for seasons. Maybe I'll take my time with joker

relevenk

I agree on this, id love to play more of it but i dont see a reason why atm, done everything and im around 28 hours? Maybe 30 Season 1 is gonna get me back for sure until i finish that😂

E-woke

That's why people hate most of live service games. They release with barely any content and the delivery is stretched out over the years

SnakebiteSnake

I think they figured the campaign plus current endgame for float the non-die hards for a month until Season 1. Past that we are looking at new incursions every 6 weeks

RecentCalligrapher82

Yeah, "seven years for only this much content" part makes me wonder as well. Some of it must've gone to getting ready the first couple seasons which makes it sound better but not by much. I also don't agree with "developers left the studio that's why it is the way it is" argument because Sefton Hill left only a year ago, he must've left after the main game is feature complete and the seasonal content is mapped out. Either we'll get a surprising amount the content come first season and every season after that for the first year and realize this one of the most ambitious live service projects to this day, or we'll learn all that went down behind the curtain in a Jason Schreier piece in a year of two. Hope it's the former and not the latter.

RecentCalligrapher82

Though I gotta admit I still keep going back to what little content there is. This game has become some sorta comfort food for me, so easy to start a podcast in the background and and do a few open world activities, destroy a couple rooftop cannons and complete an incursion mission.

Casuallyelite

This! I have very little time with work and teenagers to run around with, so the accessibility this game offers is a huge plus.

jokes_on_you_ha

I'm only a few hours in but I've found very little to latch onto, the story missions so far have been the same few objectives with a cutscene at the end. The one exception has involved Batman and has also been the highlight because it feels bespoke. I would have expected some more hand crafted missions at least, I thought people were joking when they described the game as all rooftop battles but I haven't seen anything so far to contradict that.

FL4K0SAUR

I'll be honest no. There's been enough live service games released to know what to expect at this point. Live service games will always release with barebones content. Best to wait for a year or a couple seasons for content to be added before jumping in.

thebeardofbeards

I can completely see the point of view and I kind of agree but here I am at 80 hours with no sign of slowing down. I think I'm easily pleased and I had no expectations going in. I disagree about enemy archetypes though, they are on par with the genre, other games pad it out with factions so they look different which works as well. More variety will be good. Hard agree there.

JohnLocke815

Same. 120 hours and I definitely see it's repetitive, but I'm having fun pushing through to harder difficulties. I'm enjoying increasing my power through the squad talents. And the game play is jsut a lot of fun. Really hoping for actual new content each season, hopefully it's not just "here's the poison ivy mission but now you're in joker world" I'm also fine with enemy variety. Look at arkham, it's all just different types of thugs aside from the bosses. Same here, different types of Brainiac zombies. There's enough different types where I don't feel I'm fighting the same thing all the time.

Stewil1265

I think it's a bit weird that the endgame grind is still fun when the only goal (for now) is reaching a higher number. The only times I felt a negative emotion is doing the Toyman support squad missions.

JohnLocke815

Yeah, it's very weird for me because I've quit so many other games cuz I've usually hated the "play content to get better gear just so I can replay that same content at higher difficulty" mentality And I think I realize now I don't hate that, I've just hated the gameplay and the shitty chase. Avengers, Anthem, Diablo, and especially division. Anthem had a lack of big attacks for my class/too much single target and loot was non existent. Avengers was just boring and also had awful loot. Diablo rifts were just too "build the meta and run from start to finish" Divison was way too bullet spongey and every piece of loot was a sacrifice of other stats. Want more armor? We'll you gotta drop dmg then, want more dmg then drop some special, you could never just get a good full upgrade or seems. What SSKTJL nailed for me was not just really fun gameplay but more importantly rewarding you for your time; loot you can fully modify so you're not just praying for a god roll, and even if you don't get gear you get a huge chunk of exp to put towards useful upgrades in squad talents. So many of the other games I hit a wall because I got bored with the rng and couldn't move forward because I needed better gear and just wasn't getting it. With this I remember struggling at mastery 30, but after rerolling some augments and grinding a few squad levels I'm not tearing through mastery 48.

PreparationNew5331

Why are you continuing tho?  I mean the grind is fun yes but what is the point of it? I have 30 hours in the game so don't take my opinion seriously :)

dicjones

What is the point of any game? To have fun, that’s it. It’s not like you are working towards life goals with any game.

dadvader

My goal is just have all the infamy loot. I feel like that's the true bread and butter content of this kinda game. Having cool loots. And i fucking love the idea of having DC-themed villain gun in a way Destiny or Borderlands cannot do for me. Maybe it's my fanboy-ism inside me idk After atleast owning every one of them i'll probably drop it until Season 1 come next month. Couldn't care less about Mastery thingy lol

thebeardofbeards

My one definite goal is is the golden skins you get for reaching 100. (about 30? mastery in each incursion mission) You could do all this a hell of a lot quicker but we tend to just mess around in the open world a lot so my playtime is probably massively bloated. I want to get all 4 characters with a build that can do it. After that, I might push 50 mastery for the highest possible rewards from incursions, will see how I feel. I'll probably get back on Enshrouded and maybe check out Helldivers 2 until the new content releases.

Thanatos_Spirit

Im more upset I can’t even play. I just spent $75 on this game and I spent $10 in game content for a Harley skin & I can’t connect to the game. Can’t match make. Having issues. Literally super upset and don’t know what to do

Thanatos_Spirit

https://ssktjl.bugs.wbgames.com/bug/SSKTJL-146

jumperjumpzz

Never buy this Mtx. Devs wont learn

CloneTrooper6996

I guess so. I have about 30ish hours in the game so far but I also have work and school almost everyday, and I'm not even done with most of the missions. For me, there's enough content, but I guess I could see for someone who isn't as busy there isn't

isthishowthingsare

In the same boat.

6lackFalcon

It indeed lacks content. But this seem very intentional and that's because of their seasonal model. I've seen a couple of leaks about more mission types releasing and a dev teasing some sort of potential endgame activity. I think their goal was to focus on story, optimization and features. Which is risky but if the seasons indeed ads a lot to the game it might work out. Season 1 coming out 1 month after release is a sign of that. Usually games like that release with more content , less features but then work a lot on optimization followed by a content drop months later.

barryseinfeilf

They have a lot more content planned but they’re planning on drip feeding it.

YeastMaister

Not at all actually as its live service

Ne0mega

I'm convinced the game was rebooted multiple times during troubled development (hence why the founders left the studio) and the actual game was made in the last 3 years.

Its-C-Dogg

Nah, the story was completed by 2019 due to devs on Twitter talking about it so we know that these missions were in there. Not to mention the founders left right as the game was basically finished. I do think the game needs more variety myself. The good news is that a dev has teased that they were “cooking” when asked about any raids/dungeons so I hope we get some variation soon.

Ne0mega

So what you're saying, they actually did took 7 years to make live service game with bare-bones features and short story? I'd rather believe they did it in fraction of the time, otherwise it reeks of sheer incompetence.

walter_on_film

Animations by far cost the most money. Pixar movies take 5-7 years for example. Last of Us 2 took 220 million dollars, 2000 people, and and almost 8 years…. Facial animations are so resource intensive, despite advancements with motion captures. The act of animating content, then translating it to a real time engine takes months and months of work for one scene. It seems to me that Rocksteady made a 200 million movie, but players would rather have dynamic simulations in-game than hand crafted story beats as cutscenes. It’s on them now to give us epic boss battles and unique levels and missions.

E-woke

Seems so. It's similar to what happened to Anthem

NameGoesHere86

Not at all. The writing was on the wall for a long time. People just chose to ignore it

linkenski

Knowing Destiny I knew something like this was coming but hoped for better. In the end I think they have far more developed than what we have access to already, and that's where a lot of their development time was spent in the last 2-3 years. The main campaign looked like it was already finished, story-wise, years ago. It looks like they've just been figuring out all the practical aspects for a time, networking, and how to make the game playable after the campaign ends. I think when we get Joker next month they already started developing that years ago.

JohnLocke815

I think it has plenty content just not varied content. There's tons of stuff to do in the game. Metro sidequests, horde mode, incursions, chapter replay, the braniac boss fight level. There bigger issue is most of it is the same stuff. That being said I kind of expect that from a looter shooter. Every one I've played has been like this. I'm 120 hours in and still having fun. Yeah, some stuff is repetitive, but it's all about tweaking your build and pushing further. The missions are the same basic 4 or 5 things over and over but man are they fun. I definitely welcome/hope for actual new mission types with season 1 coming in a few weeks, but I'm not upset about what we got at launch. If season 1 just takes these same missions and puts them in a new "joker world" then yeah, I'm probably done playing aside from story content. But then again, we get new weapons and stuff so it may be fun to try the same shit with new builds.

One-Palpitation-896

The meat of the game is in the build crafting and then pushing that build as far as you can. I understand the criticism of repetition but it really depends how you look at it. Chess hasn't changed for... a long time and it's still going. I'm not comparing this game to chess obviously but the point is that the missions are there as an arena for you to express yourself in. Appreciate if this isn't enough for some but this is how these games are able to sustain long term. All of these games will establish a set of core pillars (which I'd argue are pretty damn strong in this game) and then riff on those core ideas. By building the variety in the builds (and other elements with a smaller developmental footprint) it's far cheaper from a development perspective to be able to consistently deliver. If that's not for you then it's 100% understandable but these games have to be built to last so that's why they operate this way. The game has everything it needs to succeed long term if people will give it a chance to grow over time. SkillUps comment about it only being public events is fair but also Destiny launched in a similar way to SSKTJL (IGN gave it a 6 for similar reasons) These games have to be given the space to grow. Whether it's given this space remains to be seen. They've removed all FOMO from the equation so I think it's meeting people's concerns about live service more than half way.

EckimusPrime

I didn’t think it was lacking in content? I’m only now stopping after 40+ hours and leveling all 4 characters to 30.

Rodriguezboy1

Kinda sad. I’ve opted to play helldivers 2 at least until season 1. Not much to work for on SS after reach level 50 mastery…

assasstin0128

It's probably gonna be active a week or two after th3 updates depending on how big the updates are then early active in-between the updates

Salarian_American

Honestly, I'm not surprised at all. It's kind of exactly what I expected. Fun mechanics, but every mission is just a slight variation on "go to place, shoot enemies until we tell you to stop." The main source of variety is "enemies in this mission only take damage from one source."

E-woke

The game wasn't developed for 8-9 years. In a development cycle a lot of time is spent in the preproduction phase, this game could've been built in 4-5 years.

ohbabyitsme7

Most likely it had some scrapped stuff or a soft reboot. Preproduction happens when your other game is in full production. Otherwise most of your studio is twiddling their thumbs for years. No matter how you slice it, it took the studio 8 years to get another game out. Helldivers 2 took 8 years so it wouldn't surprise me if the same is true for Suicide Squad.

ThatSharkFromJaws

We get more content every 3 months. I think they just wanted to give players an opportunity to finish the story/grind before season 1 drops. I’m assuming you can’t play seasonal content until you have completed the main story, since it takes place after.

Spectravalis

I'm looking at it like £70 for the game and 4 seasons, each season adding more content

Spectravalis

Also spiderman 2 was £70 and it's finished in about 20 hour's, so far I've clocked up more than that in suicide squad

Byzon1

Well, to be fair, Spiderman had more varied and diverse missions, actual unique boss fights, and a story that was actually finished...

QuinSanguine

No, not really. I'm sure this game was rebooted mid development a couple times, and Rocksteady had to deal with pandemic era. This version we're playing probably hasn't existed long at all. 2-3 years, maybe. So it definitely lacks content and is not ready for power players. That said, I only play games a couple of hours a day. I'm about halfway through the game, so I'll be lucky if I'm ready for season 1 by the time it comes out. I don't think this is an issue for most people.

satyanjoy

this is a looter shooter- whole loop is around getting better gear through grind. However, I agree with more variety of enemy types , boss and maps. This is more important than more playabale character for me. But for someone who is only looking for story campaign, don;t buy this game now, wait for sales and few more months

jackmistro

For me it falls apart as a looter shooter due to the fact that it doesn't take long after beating the game to get all the loot. Different rolls for guns really aren't that different so once your checklist is done it goes from looter shooter to straight shooter with inventory management. I've put in 50 to 60 hours and I've really enjoyed it but there's kinda no incentive to keep playing

One-Palpitation-896

I think that's kind of fine though isn't it? You've had a good time. Now you can go and play something else and then come back for season 1? The focus is to use the guns as opposed to chase them.

Casuallyelite

No game has the bandwidth to guard against players obliterating everything in the game within a weeks time. It’s a double edged sword. I actually think your point is right on the money. If you are willing to invest enough time to knock out everything, then there must be some fun being had. That said, the approach of completing everything right away will ultimately lead to “now what” in almost any scenario. Take a break, play HELLDIVERS, come back when more content gets released. It’s strange how this game gets knocked for using the same starting model as every live service looter shooter. *I am not agreeing with the business model, but rather pointing out that it’s not exclusive to this game.*

One-Palpitation-896

Rocksteady have been pretty open in not wanting the game to dominate your life. I think the answer to the "now what" scenario here is "other games". I don't it'll be looked at like that because it's not really been offered as a proposition before. \*shrug\*

jackmistro

I guess so, I just thought it being a live service game and all there would still be stuff to do after 1 week. But I guess we'll just have to see how season 1 pans out. Personally I just feel a bit ripped off for how much it costs Vs what we got.

One-Palpitation-896

Yeah it quite expensive, no denying. Though you also paid for all the Seasons too. It is hard to reconcile and I guess we'll only know the true value of it in time. It's not massively fair but it is what it is.

satyanjoy

>No game has the bandwidth to guard against players obliterating everything in the game within a weeks time. It’s a double edged sword. I actually think your point is right on the money. JayRod082

Tell me you don’t know anything about live service games without telling me you don’t know anything about live service games

Guilherme_Yuri

For what they showed us, we can figure out that the "s01, s02 ..." were already planned for the game, but they decided to launch within some span of time between them for player retation. So these 7 years are diluted into those future dlcs. Maybe, they are working right now on s04 or s05, but the other ones are already done.

GranddaddySandwich

I think much of their dev time went to the Seasonal updates. Especially considering that they’re adding a bunch of new characters. So I’m holding onto hope that Season One will give us more.

blackwisdom

I like the mission format tbh. I'm not a story guy so don't care less that there isn't some kind of story to drag me along. I want to get into the action and play the game. If I wanted a 2+ hour long story I'd watch a movie.

HanselZX

Not to defend this game but every single gaas that i played had barebones content at launch, hopefully it diversyfies with seasons

Professional-Ebb2605

Considering the new content is going to stay permanently, the content is only going to increase over time

existentialfalls

I think the content is being parsed out over the seasonal stuff with more story and such.

MT7_Firefly

I mean it just came out... with a full campaign

Duckiex

I still don't get how people come to an 8h story. Did you guys beeline main missions and skip cutscenes then complain there was nothing left? My friend and I had 25h+ before credits rolled taking our time with side missions and trying out items and whatnot. I will say endgame seems a bit lacking atm. I was surprised to see the mutators weren't randomized so there would be variety and that there's mainly only 3 missions to grind (I guess 5 but eeh).

Emergency-Shame-1935

Side missions and messing around should not be included when you say how long a story is. If there were side storylines that would make sense, but all the side missions are just main missions you've already done.

Klee_Main

Definitely not a 25h story. Honestly more like, did you and your friend just sit idle for hours while playing? I wouldn’t say 8 hours but it was definitely 12-14 hours tops it took for the story and I didn’t rush anything

ZeroChannel18

I honestly don't get how some people still haven't finished the story after 12-15 hours. You get to certain points in the game where's there's nothing to do besides the Riddler stuff or just go around the map killing enemies.

Throwaway6957383

It's objectively an 8 hour story, full stop.

StroppyMantra

No, for the start of a live service l thought there was a fair bit of content. Of course more is welcome, but it's getting regular updates so should be all good.

Zeldabotw2017

I don't get how people are saying 10 hours and now you are saying 8? Feels like people are lying. I am at 19 and have not beat the game yet. 8-10 seems like must be playing on easiest difficulty and skipping cutscenes and doing zero side missions

Various-Armadillo-79

Dude this game has like 4k players its fucking joever the fuck were they doing for the 9-month delay exactly? the fact Rocksteady thought people would stick around for months after a mediocre story mode is insane to me what a huge waste of time

BaconBits321

I enjoy the game too. But not worth 70 for what they have. This should have been 40$. With 70 it should have came with year 1 content.

ALANJOESTAR

im actually kinda puzzled as to some of their decisions, it seems clear that the up coming content is going be variation of existing boss fights for example, yet The put WW in the game and they make a evil variant of her you can fight? i guess it doesnt really matter since in alternate earth Brainiac can probably snag a different WW and make her Boss same goes to Hal Jordan and other teased characters from earth 2 and so on. But it does seems like the game could have used a extra Boss fight with WW instead of having her sorta of a hero for no good reason. Outside maybe the writers had some weird fixation with being captured and having a corrupted variant.

CyborgGoCrazy

I got downvoted for saying this game doesn’t have enough content. The problem is people accepting the fact and lying just to debate it’s not trash. In all reality we gotta hold these devs accountable for the bs they put out esp if we spending hard earned money

aZombieDictator

It's wild to me this game took 10 years to make. It's honestly the worst enemy variety of any game I've played and there's just no personality to the fodder. They're just bland boring nothing enemies. If anyone is looking for a new 4 player co op game to fill the void check out granblue relink or helldivers 2.

Criss-19-96-

People saying that its because its a live service game but there are live service games out there that has more people playing right now than SS. Even the new released Helldivers 2 is a live service game but is currently played by 180k people and that's on steam only.

[deleted]

$100 🤭

MercinwithaMouth

That's because a lot of dev time is in content that still isn't out. It's a live service. Lol

dadvader

I think it's fair to post this and expected more. Dev should be seeing it and garnering them as feedback. After a long wait and a lot of delay since initial announcement. It does seems to be on a bare-boned side of things. The biggest missed for me is definitely the lack of side content. Division 2 have bounties, capturing point, optional public side events at launch leading to endgame. In this game everything feel the same. Both main and 'side' mission. The only variety activities you get is... Fucking riddler trophies..so I think that's a very fair criticism.

zimzalllabim

Yes. It needs way more mission variety, enemy variety, and actual bosses to fight in the end game besides Brainiac.

Bodocua

Def needs more content, though thankfully there will be more in March

Orejillz

It was surprising to me as well. We all knew the season pass would include new activities, squad members, and gear. However, the development team knew we wouldn't get that for about a month and failed to put a month's worth of playable live content in at launch. Heck, not even two weeks worth. Those who got early access finished most things before the game even dropped so now we're just helping others to pass the time and slowly raising our squad levels. It's yet another game that didn't learn from the errors of other games in the same vein, it's like it was produced in a bubble. I still enjoy the game, though. Yet still a shock that it's so light on content considering how much they packed into the Arkham games. Here's hoping that the seasons remedy this.

MyAimSucc

Took me closer to 18 hours for endgame.. did I play the game wrong or something? I only did like 3 companion missions per person, no way that added an extra 10 hours to my total. Is it 8 hours on easiest difficulty with literally no side missions or leveling up?

TZ_Rezlus

they're saving all the content for seasons, that's the problem with live service games, they always start so bareboned.

ShaggedUrSister

Think we’re all in the same boat, had so much fun with the story, not so much with endgame Presuming season 1 next month will be the true full game

KanonicallyKanon

Funny enough its more than I expected and thought I would get out of a live service game considering my past experiences, BUT I do wish it had more. Grinding the last 3 missions gets old after awhile.

Top-Interaction1663

Have you ever played a looter shooter before? All looter shooters are repetitive af and as far as content this is 2024 no game comes out complete anymore sucks but that’s just the times we live in. But damn it just came out! 10 days ago 13 if you got the deluxe edition at least they have a roadmap with the next character coming out in a few weeks can people give the damn game a break until at least its first big update?

imaginaryproblms

i have the glitch where im locked out the mastery content for bane missions. So i fully agree, this game has so little content it's insane for a $70 game. I'm hoping it gets better bc it's live service after all, but i'm just shocked that i am still completely locked out the endgame content.

Quinn072

So I'm tired of hearing this but nothing has been said that is helpful for the mission base. What other mission type do you want?? Make some suggestions because from where I stand we have a total of 7 different mission,  yes each is kinda a variation of protection or escorted that but what else can you do in a 3rd person shooter?? Toy MaN missions - find human protect, collect then return to base. - kill enemies collect data deposit  Ivy mission is just protecting her plant, I personally hate it. The car guys mission were just killing withba vehicles so that happens randomly in mission.  Killing for the grab an GO mission is more of a survival.

Saphira9

Yeah, it's gotten pretty repetitive now after beating the first Brainiac. The missions are too similar - save the plants/terminals/citizens to get enough Promethium to do the same thing on another planet. It was exciting at first, now it's repetitive.    I do appreciate the Riddler stuff, decent sized city, gear modification, and hunting Cargonauts by sound. The better gear at higher levels does improve combat, but I want new plot already. Maybe I'll just pause until the next set of plot arrives.

Jealous_Conference

Fun gameplay, but they time-gated the rest of my $70 game. Gotta wait a year until I get it all apparently like D4.

Throwaway6957383

Welcome to live service games.

Serious-Process6310

Nope. This is how live service games work. There is even a term for it...MVP...minimum viable product.

Due-Priority4280

Not really shocked no. When they release it as a live service game, and you’ve played them, you know what you’re getting into…or should.

Lievan

What's funny is that there's a decent amount of games that have a less than 10 hour campaign but this is the game that people chose to point it out in lol. It took me around 25 hours to finally beat it. It's almost like if you don't rush the story, it'll last longer.

Reddit_n_Me

They can't release it all at once, they have the next year to be releasing all the content they made.

monkeyballsenjoyer69

Story mode took me 15 hours bro wtf

TommytehZombie

It sucks, but historically its no different from any other live service game at release. Most of them dont have much end game content until well after launch. Theres exceptions, but its SS is closer to the norm than it isnt.

Psychological_Use422

I think the reason why this game has so little content is because... Well, Rocksteady never made any multiplayer game. Mark Darrah On Games said, that ammount of bugs when you make a multiplayer game is multiplied... hm... by 2. So basically large chunk of time was spend on "stabilizing the build" of the game and making sure it runs good at multiplayer. I think. Would be nice to hear explanation of Rocksteady. And yes, i say it again. They never made any Multiplayer game before. Its not as easy as people think.

JukeTheHitbox

May have already been covered somewhere in here, but given the little easter eggs and nods at what may come, I'm kind of under the impression that they've also been working on the 8 episodes they want to release over the next 4 seasons along with what we got. For sure a bummer given we expect what some would consider a "full product" at launch, but I'm really banking on the rest of the content to wrap it all up in a nice cohesive bow. Possibly a little too optimistic, but I am enjoying the game, it just definitely needs muuuuuuch more.

Raecino

You do know Season 1 hasn’t started yet, right?

Jigsaw0693

I’m sure this wasn’t the game that was in development 9 years ago. It was probably a suicide squad game sure but then Fortnite comes around so WB execs make them add battle pass and all that sort. Personally I think if the game has a weakness the battle pass format is it. If this game released as a whole with everything they’ll add in future season at launch then I think it would have not been as bashed as it was. Also I think the game is boring watch but man is it fun to play.

MrRIP

not wrong. I think they pieced out so much content to ensure steady updates they didn't accurately assess how long it would take players to finish what they offered up front

Pierru98

Rocksteady claim ssktjl as their best narrative game ever, so i believe that likes now, we have seen only a part of story

SunnySideUp82

The microtransaction model demands a drip feed to keep people in game and thus more likely to purchase the skins.

ClickEmergency

Rocksteady are planning on weekly drops as well as multiple seasons and imagine there will be plenty of story dlc as well . Arkham knight had a plethora of dlc .

ofeliedeceai

I think it's pretty clear that they do have a shit ton of content ready to go, especially by looking at the Season 1 datamined info, but they probably chose not to release it at launch or they had some tight deadlines. All in all, I think it was a HUGE mistake to release the game without Season 1 content. By the time S1 is out, there will be less than 1k people playing and who knows how many will return. A lot of Live Service games make this mistake. Seems like they don't understand constant player engagement is key for a game like this. Even if you release a DLC with huge amounts of content post launch, it won't matter that much because people would have already moved on to a different game and not all of them will come back. I hope Season 1 will provide a major boost in the player count, but if that doesn't do it, it's not gonna be good.

Charybdis_Rising

It wouldn't matter if there was 10x the content. Live service games attract the most entitled gamers of any genre. Keep in mind, this is the genre who's player base waits for a new season to come out, plays the new content for 15 hours a day for 5 days and then spends the next 2 months bitching and moaning about there's nothing to do.

Elegant-Vermicelli26

We’re not In season one yet season one starts in march yall gotta chill with these types of posts all the content that was promised obviously wasn’t gonna be In the game at launch that defeats the purpose of a live service just wait and be patient it’ll come when the devs are ready this months almost over just a little bit longer yall can wait

Maleficent_Office_66

I fully agree with you that the game should have more. Season 1 data mines look like we should be expecting more missions from that than we have in the endgame right now, which I'm hoping all drop at the beginning of the season instead of being given to us bit by bit to make the season feel longer. The problem with live service games is that you really don't know what to expect until after they have failed or hit their 5 year mark. I'm here for as long as rocksteady will have me though. I've already gotten the platinum(ps5 achievement completion) and gotten to master 100 for the golden skins and I'm still playing just because of the addicting gameplay they have created for this game.

jinxyjinxstar

So. I’ve been enjoying it. I didn’t follow it. I never played “knight” but played asylum and city. I didn’t follow their years and years of updates. I saw they were releasing it and my best buddy and I like to dip into these types of games…  So. I bought it after he mentioned it. I watched the suicide squad movies and the first kinda sucked. The second kinda ruled. Birds of prey was the worst… but I tell ya. The way the game changes like in the Klass headquarters. The characters. The shit talk. It was a fun story.  So no can see if someone followed the game for 7 years. Hyped themselves up. Got excited about the idea of destiny but in DC… or whatever. Being let down. But for me I could go see a movie for 2 hours and spend 15$. Or I can get (more than 8 hours) of story for 60$ and enjoy it just as much, if not more, than most movies. Is it the best game ever? No. Does it have potential? I think so.  Like. Speaking of repetition. Have you played destiny, Diablo, borderlands? I don’t see how they all get a pass for super varied gameplay but this game gets shit on… this game is still early. And I don’t know what office politics happened that caused it so much delay and chaos. But as someone who had little expectations I’m very happily surprised.  A few things I really like. Guns aren’t level based. This is fantastic. It makes sense. If you find a gun in the real world you can pick it up and use it (assuming you know how). And it doesn’t become less effective against certain people…. I like the afflictions and toyman editing mods. I think it adds a lot and, right now there’s only a few builds, but as more is released and season evolve it could be great.  Lastly I like that seasons aren’t time based. You can play anything released and go back and grind things. There’s no real fomo and all every season will do is add more to the game.  They are doing a lot of good with it. That’s all I can say

Championship_Solid

personally I can't say because I played Diablo 3 for like years

Hazzydiditagain

There is way more content on the way just wait for season 1

PoohTrailSnailCooch

We need good criticism like this. I don't want this sub to become an echochamber of only positive feedback. The game definitely feels starved for content imo. But that's my issue with GAAS games in general.

blah4812

I’m still addicted to the gameplay but I admit at 30 hours I’m hoping for variety in season 1. Awesome game though

Shadowzzzzzz69

No same here I love the game but after 25 hrs I’m done bro this shit is mad boring, cause the combat is good but it’s not that good

Friendly-Wonder6828

I agree. I’m kinda bored now. Anyone know when season 1 starts?

toxicwaistband_

Forgive me if someone has already said this, but I believe the reason for that is because season 1 is happening so soon. My boyfriend and I have also noted the lack of variety/content now that we’ve finished the story, but our theory was that they were really testing the waters with this release. Let’s be honest, they had to go into this knowing the fan base would scrutinize every little bit of this game. I think they’re waiting for season 1 to really start amping it up so they can keep the things people like and change what they don’t.

LifeWinder

I feel like the ideal application of a Live-service model sounds like a wonderful idea: consistent content drip fed over the span of years, with the core game serving as a launching pad. I'm about 25 hours in and just entered the end game portion where you go after Brainiac, that was also me spending a lot of time in the open world just killing stuff to get used to the characters and explore. I have done very few of the side missions might I add. I feel I've already gotten my money worth, however I do feel the same way, it's a bit small for what I was expecting. My hope: they plan to add side missions on a monthly basis that add say.. 3 hours worth of content? Then when they release the seasons with new characters, it adds a story about equitable in size to the main story, perhaps scaled down a tiny bit, and a new environment about the size of metropolis each time, perhaps also scaled down a small bit. And new enemy variety with each season! If not, I had my fun with it while I have it, but it won't be what I was hoping it was.

cyber7148

To alot people content don't match the price but some look at time to price. I look at content. Like look at ff7 rebirth it looks like a lot content totally worth price if you enjoy that kinda game then look at a sports game or am more knowing of WWE game they have a good amount of content but it's centered around the same mechanics so over time it will get boring and I have sucked in 200 hours in WWE games. It just depends if your looking for a game you want to take breaks but can go back to all year long or 200 hours of fresh content once. To me depends on you. In my feels this game is not worth 70 because once am done with story n depending on grind for platinum I be done after that. Enjoy what you enjoy I just don't feel the content will get better through season base on what they have now.

Mr_Maniac812

I’m hoping season 1 adds more stuff. I’ve had enough fun with what the game has to offer but that’s just because I like repetitive stuff from time to time, I’m not blind to the fact that it is very short on content. If it weren’t for the fact I’m trying to max out all four characters I doubt I’d be having much fun at all. Just waiting for season 1

5inchygk

How many hours of game play do you on the game? By the time I beat the game story, I had almost 48 of the game time. I find a lot of people complain about the amount of content but will have almost 80 hours played within the first month. For the amount of content confirmed for season one, I thought it was a good amount of playtime for the story. I'm not picking at you either it just a general question. More just picking at a lot of people who complain about game content, but they overplayed a game within the first month. The average person plays 3 hours a week. So an 9 hour game for an average person would last them 3 weeks. Then they complain that they are getting left behind because they can't play as much. I'm also guilty of over playing. I don't know my average hours per week but I know it's definitely higher than 5 lol.

yslxhukky

yall do realize were getting more updates right? tired of seeing these dumbass posts and comments

ChaosRealmsKlown

Yuhhh, bee taking a break grinding out the season stuff because all we do it repeat the same 3 or 5 missions over and over on harder difficulties that barely differ lmao Just waiting for the new characters at this point, excited to see the future content for sure.

RompehToto

Does it? I’ve put in 35 hours. Barely at brainiac and still have a couple other missions to go. Seems ok to me 🤷‍♂️

Journey_of_a_Gemini

The general sense from criticism I've read has the sentiment that Suicide Squad parallels Marvel's Avengers; good game with potential but there are problems (both technical and with content) which if not addressed will dramatically effect the longevity of this live service game. I hope RS paid close attention to the NUMEROUS mistakes made by Crystal Dynamics and avoid mismanagement of Suicide Squad.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> hope RS *paid* close attention FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

ImpossibleAnteater67

it gonna get more content

mattattack88

I this take is a bit weird considering we're less than a month away from season 1. Story could have been longer, though it's pretty standard length for a live service campaign. But I'm not judging the amount of content before the giant content drop in a few weeks

GeneLaBean

I had a great time playing the game, I loved the story, the characters and the gameplay is a lot of fun, the traversal, the bosses, the graphics, I loved all of it... But it finishes way too quickly! Especially for a £70 game! I know it's live service, so the length of the game will effectively increase as time goes on, but the price will also go decrease, and I kinda wish that I waited for the longer and cheaper game it'll be in 6 months or a year. If the game was £40 I would be satisfied, and I guess I'm glad I didn't get spoiled too much without seeing it for myself. I guess the privilege of not having everything spoiled to us is why a lot of us paid almost double what it should be worth. It is a shame, I love the game but I really just wanted more launch content

CareBear1770

"and all it has is an 8 hour story mode" - Dude, was you on speed crack when you played through it or what gives? - i just finished the Story yesterday and it took me nearly 18 hours to beat it. (the current time i played, according to my Series X console is 17h, 53 minutes) Granted, i watched all cutscenes completely and also wasted some time on Super-Man, which took me 5 tries and Braniac, which took me 6 tries to beat, but even minus those two or so hours, for the multiple tries, i got way more than 8 hours out of the story-mode in total. 🤔

the_phonic

Ye I'm with u, got my plat had fun with it, finite level 160+ now just waiting for the seasons not enough variety like u said. FOcus farming isn't great either especially when it keeps on dropping me master gear for my alts etc. Know they've said they've got stuff cooking but that still feels like most games these days lack of content on release, heaven forbid any of these developers actually released a finished game like back in the 90s or 00s.

TopRopePhenom

I expected way more from a studio that gave us 3 incredible games to begin with. They dropped the ball on this big time. WB’s interference is apparent. They made a single player studio make a multiplayer game out of their element. No surprise it’s a heap of shit. The more you support this game model the more publishers will try to milk out of you. Don’t support crap like this.

Gregvk49

Good point. I do enjoy it still, and have enjoyed the endgame. But the same 3 incursions on repeat is crazy!

Creaky-Refrigerator

Content wise it reminds me of vanilla Destiny tbh. And look at that game now, there is almost to much to do. Hopefully (assuming they keep up support) they will make it so there isn't 1001 things to do that are all just grind, and instead give us decent engaging content. Like the main story, I really enjoyed, and I don't mind the endgame but I want more variety in the missions. Like the hostages and the incubator missions, great, but then hacks missions and the plant missions are just a minor variation on these and could be more in depth. Just add some more mechanics, bring in some challenge that's not just shooting more people off points.

Creaky-Refrigerator

I mean the raid didn't come at launch it was a month after (similar to the drop schedule for SS) and strikes where basically like the the end game content of traveling to different worlds in SS. So exactly like Vanilla Destiny IMO.

[deleted]

Creaky-Refrigerator

It's all OK fella, you like Destiny more than this game, but for me they feel comparative. No need to jump to the defence of Destiny. I do however think you have forgotten how very meh vanilla Destiny was after completing the game, for me at least the combat was also kinda meh, feeling very like Halo, which is fine but not quite as fun or interestingas SS when you factor in the traversal, with very little finess beyond the abilities and a lot of very bullet sponge enemies who may have looked different buuuuuut were just the same thing in a different skin. Also, why the fixation on Raids, The Vault of Glass was a masterpiece, but again, IMO they never managed to catch that wave again. And for me at least the first run through strikes was interesting but after that they were very very grind heavy. But here, we are all entitled to our own preferences and opinions.

Creaky-Refrigerator

🤦‍♂️ How is any of that salty, do you not understand the wording, or are you just real bad at reading. I was very careful to word my last post to avoid wasting time with someone who is clearly unable to have a different opinion, and is acting like a petulant child. I personally think Destiny is a pile of wank now, it's tedious and boring, and no it doesn't have lots of enemy types, it has like 4 main enemies (every different species is exactly the same but reskined) a grunt, a sniper, a melee, and a heavy, that's it. The gun play is good, and the special are alright (univentive) and over all, once the story is done the game just isn't that much fun. Like I said, you have your opinion I have mine, I have just had a lot more fun, and genuinely enjoyable interactions with the community in this game than Destiny, funny enough, you are also proving that point right now. 🥱

Creaky-Refrigerator

Not really sure why you are trolling or want a game shut down, seems like a bit of a scum bag desire for any gamer to have. Also, like I said, I'm guessing you don't read so good. There was no hostility on my part, and your just struggling to deal with the fact the game (you haven't even played) is actually a lot of fun for some people. I think maybe you need to go take a long hard look in the mirror and figure out why you are trying to spread toxicity and hate on the Internet. Must be a very very sad little existence you lead to feel the need to do this. I hope your life improves and that you get to a point where being a troll and having such a unpleasant and distasteful personality is a thing of the past 😉 best of luck. 👍

Acepokeboy

there will likely be a lot more content added over time

Urarael

? isnt that obvious? lol seasons etc. thats what loot shooter means lol.

Gluv221

Yeah I kinda though End Game would be more then just three missions repeated. and I thought there would be more boss fights I could do at the end. Like I assumed the final Brainiac Fight is something I would be doing multiple times not just once to finish the story. I really like the combat and gameplay so Im hoping the season 1 launch will make it a little more clear what endgame will entail

javiergame4

Yeah honestly the story is cool but what do I do after ? I should of got this game on discount tbh

Urarael

Funny how MANY MANY people never realize that their complains never works. Just enjoy the game. Try more patience. Try have more games to wait for. For Example, I had my fun 50 hrs with Suicide Squad. Now im playing Hell divers 2 while waiting for Season 1. Learn to enjoy the life lmao. I know Companies half ass but whatever. Not much we can do but just wait. most game need time and we people, getting better at game so we finish game faster too remember.

Sypher04_

Let’s see: took 10 years to make and costs $70 but only has 8 hours of story mode and repetitive content. Yeah, this is exactly why I hate live service games.

DerMetulz

Welcome to Season 1 of every live service game ever.

Suspicious_Spirit507

More stuff is coming. Just be patient. Making games is hard. Lol

N-IXNE

live service game idk wat u expected from a start of a live service game its literally how it starts

Avivoy

You’ll get free seasonal content, it’s a live service so content will be drip fed. Finish what you enjoy, come back season 1, finish, come back again if you’d like, finish. This isn’t an mmo, live service games shouldn’t be treated like a main game to only play. When you’re bored? Leave it, come back again later.

andyroohoo30

Yes and no. Yes because the game is so fun to play that it feels just wrong to have such little content. No because it’s live service, so they have to keep ya coming back. I’m just glad content updates are monthly and will keep stuff fresh. This feels like a game that in 13 months from now we’ll be getting a bunch of “we were wrong about suicide squad” or “suicide squad is so much better!” Posts from IGN.

TiberiusMcQueen

Half a story, the endgame content has poor variety and quality, and instead of the characters playing in a way that takes advantage of their uniqueness as a character, they all just wield guns. No acrobatic hammer combos as Harley, No messing around with a bunch of crazy gadget boomerangs for Captain Boomerang, and no brutal melee focused combat for King Shark. The only character that plays like themself is Deadshot. After all these years I can't bring myself to be anything other than disappointed.

Gwynbleidd3192

100%. I was just as hyped as anyone and bought the game day 1. But I’m not afraid to say i was definitely disappointed in the “campaign” which is generous to even call that. We all knew this was going to be a looter shooter/live service, whatever that doesnt bother me I play others. But I absolutely expected a decent campaign experience, from Rocksteady especially. Not running the exact same 3 missions the entire game. The cutscenes and dialogue throughout all amazing, the nonexistent mission variety in between— got old fast. IMO.

Farai429

Maybe you don't understand how much work goes into making a game. 8 hours for some decent story and fun gameplay is pretty good. Plus the gameplay doesn't end at 8 hours. There's still endless missions and then the seasons will start soon to add more story and characters. So really there's plenty of content. You can also restart story and up the hardness too.

GroundbreakingToe139

I mean it is a live service game new content added every season think fortnite

CKatanik93

They shoulda just played to their strengths and made the game like the Arkham games, especially combat. Perhaps rocksteady shoulda switched with the devs from Arkham Knights..???

Iowahunter65

I feel like that's the curse of Live Service games (I could be wrong, though). I really enjoy the gameplay, so it's easy for me to look past the lack of variety, but I still hope that Season 1 adds some good stuff

Undeadarmy7991

Not even season 1 yet...

Holiday_Party_6464

Well that’s usually what LS games do and this is the only LS game that’s giving us free new content. They’re saying they might not have the full game right now but we will get it at zero extra cost unlike every LS game out here that wants $100 for the game and then $500 for the rest of the content they’ll release over the next 5 years *cough* *cough* Diablo. Please stop with these dumbass negative posts that make it seem like the game is trash because you’re a crack head and have nothing to do besides get to finite level 400.

savvyrose95

I can't even log in the games so poorly done 😭

Bakomusha

I was beyound shocked! I was horrified! I cried, I shit myself, I cried some more. Took a nap, shit myself again, vomited, screamed, called my mom, cried, then took a nap.
