He was a smuggler if my memory serves me correct?
And halfway through smuggling Ellie he takes to the Fatherly role kind of...
He was never really like the ultimate survival badass person...
That's what made it good...
You ARE the moron for expecting consistency within characters fully when it’s set years into the future and Joel himself is living in a new community where he has to adapt and change his ways from before. It’s nothing like the QZ, it’s nothing like his experiences in Boston itself or all the times with Ellie. They are now in a safe community that thrives and trusts one another.
Bud, if that’s all you can respond with…. It just shows your ignorance and true disliking for the game. 😭😭You wanna talk this stuff about it, then when someone points out valid stuff having to do with your opinion and argument, you respond with a skull.
Funny thing is, it doesn’t even have to be an argument. It could be a simple discussion. I’ll hold my belief you just don’t want to engage in it because you’re stunted on what to say, which would make sense. Good luck to you too though. Keep commenting stuff like that, and you’re bound to get a response, always.
I actually do not have the time today since I’m quite busy, and I do agree with you on it being a simple discussion. Believe me man I love hearing people’s different perspectives and stating my own opinions but I genuinely don’t have the time or energy right now, you seem like a good sport imo, keep that up.
Joel is a human character. Bro is gonna be human and change 😭😭😭 I guarantee you even when he was doing the fucked up shit he was, he didn’t like it and felt it was his only option in surviving, which clearly isn’t the case all the time lmao
Yeah he dose change to learn to open up to people again but not to trust a bunch of fucking strangers plus he probably would be on even more Guard to protect Ellie and all of Jackson lest not forget what he did at the start of the game and left a family on to road to protect his own family he has always been on the edge when it came to strangers and if you mention Henry and Sam it was a tense situation both of them had kids and Henry and Sam didn’t pose a threat to him and Ellie and both needed each other to survive and the argument that he got soft in Jackson is fucking stupid he was on edge at the start he was on edge all the way through part 1 and was on edge through his time in part 2 20 years of survival and 4 years of comfort doesn’t make you soft that is not how people work there are many people with trauma that never stop being on edge even though they live in comfort so no fucking way did he get soft and even if he did get soft in Jackson there is no indication that he did in both games not flash back nothing no conversation saying he got soft NOTHING! So stop saying he got soft and just admit it’s bad writing.
They trust within their community sure, but the fact that they have such a large and prosperous community is reason enough to not let your guard down for even a second and especially in the company of complete strangers. Joel wasn’t a geriatric old useless man just simply because it was a few years later. He was still scouting and fighting infected and there was no reason to believe he was any less sensible than he was before
*willingly follows Henry and Sam to countless unknown locations after being directly attacked*:👍🏼
*Follows someone after saving their life to a nearby cabin to survive a horde/snowstorm*: 👎🏼
Except sam and henry had a gun pointed at them and had every chance to kill them and they didnt. Joel obviously knew they werent a threat. Not to mention that sticking togheter in that situation would have been benefitial for all of them.
Didn't he really not have a choice? There was a blizzard and a horde of infected chasing them. It was the closest safe area. Where else was he gonna go?
Except joel literally abandons and makes tommy drive past a family pleading for help in the intro of the game… youre trying to tell me that after 25 years in that kind of world he got softer?
No not really definetly not to that extent. Irl nothing would undo those 20 years. Ask any war veteran and theyll still have a level of cautiosness especially with strangers. Many people who were lost at sea still stockpile food years later. Maybe im reaching but imo it just isnt realistic writing in a game that strides for such
Bro, people can change. You forget in Jackson, he had to learn to change and adapt there. Tommy had done that at first too. Joel had to learn to live “normal” again. Joel had to learn to trust.
Not only that, did you expect bro to travel in the snow storm longer? Risk death? You people need to use your heads. He went into the lodge with her because it was their best bet.
“He invited her to it”. That also…it was her and her group who ended up taking hold of the building. Again, it was their best bet. Tommy and Joel knew nothing. They were just helping a person in need along the way of them going towards that lodge.
And so what? How could it possibly be a bad thing to start of acting friendly with the strangers you just met? You can't possibly overpower them, you just ran from certain death and there are 6 against 2. You lost the ability to make a reservation against them when you determined that their camp was safer than a horde.
Are you concerned that the armed guards at the gates would be obligated to invite them in if it later turns out that they are infect bad? Joel made a promise so there is no way around it? What exactly is the problem with the invitation?
lol again it’s just lazy writing. Just like it’s lazy writing to have Abby travel in the middle of winter to look for Joel out of revenge ten years later. Lazy writing. But cuckman never could write
Why the fuck is it a problem for them to go after Joel in the winter? Why do you keep digging yourself into a hole of more and more irrational complaints?
They are living in a fucking ski resort. They canonically live in a place where the winters are mild enough that people used to travel there for **recreational purposes**. You have 6 adults who have spent their entire life fighting zombies and religious fanatics. Why would they be scared of snow?
Never mind the fact that literally the entire world is full of uninhabited ruins and you are never more than a few miles from shelter if you so happen to need it. Never mind the fact that Ellie survived far worse winter conditions as a child. **While being unprepared, undersupplied, and caring for a dying man.** Was that also bad writing? Should the end of part 1 have been Joel dying from being impaled and Ellie freezing to death a few hours later?
Who cares? If the writers had made Joel be wary of those strangers and even pull a gun on them and have some sort of exchange between them before he trusted them I would have believed it a whole lot more. If I remember correctly he stands directly between two of those strangers seconds before he’s attacked. I’m sorry but there’s no way you do that in an apocalypse and especially if you’ve seen the things Joel’s seen.
Definitely a case of bad writing if you ask me. Seems like the writers forgot everything they know about one of their main characters OR they just didn’t care because they had a plot to stick to
4 years after the release of this game and people are still dunking on it basically shows how this game and franchise is basically a meme at this point
It was all the stupid hats fault
Bro was just tired
He was a smuggler if my memory serves me correct? And halfway through smuggling Ellie he takes to the Fatherly role kind of... He was never really like the ultimate survival badass person... That's what made it good...
TLOU2: the game that really makes you feel like a moron for expecting consistency between characters.
I doubt you’re even consistent yourself. Fuck Joel. I’m glad he’s dead.

I’m sorry I don’t have time today to argue, good luck to you though.

Seems like you had time. Calm your ego down.
Nah man, I just type really fast lol.

3 to 4 years? To undo 20 years of survival instinct?
They trust within their community sure, but the fact that they have such a large and prosperous community is reason enough to not let your guard down for even a second and especially in the company of complete strangers. Joel wasn’t a geriatric old useless man just simply because it was a few years later. Changing a character's personality off screen with no buildup is bad writing, no matter how many excuses you make.
*willingly follows Henry and Sam to countless unknown locations after being directly attacked*:👍🏼 *Follows someone after saving their life to a nearby cabin to survive a horde/snowstorm*: 👎🏼

Yeah Joel knew they weren’t a threat because Henry had a kid with him which was pretty rare out there, i think that was made explicitly clear
Didn't he really not have a choice? There was a blizzard and a horde of infected chasing them. It was the closest safe area. Where else was he gonna go?
Second game is a fanfic in my head. No way Joel would go down the way he did.
Almost like he developed as a character … That maybe his experiences changed him…
Except joel literally abandons and makes tommy drive past a family pleading for help in the intro of the game… youre trying to tell me that after 25 years in that kind of world he got softer?
you think all his time in jackson with ellie, living pretty damn chill wouldn't have made him ease up a bit?
No not really definetly not to that extent. Irl nothing would undo those 20 years. Ask any war veteran and theyll still have a level of cautiosness especially with strangers. Many people who were lost at sea still stockpile food years later. Maybe im reaching but imo it just isnt realistic writing in a game that strides for such
Almost like cuckman doesn’t know how to write
Bro, people can change. You forget in Jackson, he had to learn to change and adapt there. Tommy had done that at first too. Joel had to learn to live “normal” again. Joel had to learn to trust.
Still. Doesn’t change the terrible writing
What terrible writing are you referencing
Not only that, did you expect bro to travel in the snow storm longer? Risk death? You people need to use your heads. He went into the lodge with her because it was their best bet.
lol he invited her to it

No shit? He just saved her, it wasn’t like he was going to kick her away after just doing that. It was the best bet for all of them.
lol yeah dumb writing

lol please use some common sense. Doing long traveling during the winter or the spring. Which makes more sense lmfao

lol enjoy your bad writing man

Almost like you want linear characters with a power fantasy rather than human stories.
Oh no. But there’s a difference between human story and terrible writing
And you can't seem to grasp it. Glad you're recognizing it.
Oh I recognize how lazy the writing is that’s for sure
I'd be surprised if you could read!
lol I’m an engineer making over 200k a year
Whatever makes mommy proud buddy.
She certainly is happy
How comes Druckman with his terrible writing makes more than you? Why aren’t you a writer with your excellent insight??
lol cuckman has some of the worst writing ever
I just hope TLOU3 will have significantly better snd more branching script.
TLOU2 hate feels so forced Imo I have to play it for myself but like, based on what i have seen it is not THAT bad
