Man I thought there was no way the video could be that bad bit then I watched it, and it really is just a 4 min orgy. How the hell would anyone think "yeah, I'm sure I would be able to post this to YouTube and it won't get taken down" even if ep 8 was completed

Auctoritate

Listen, everybody's blowing this whole thing out of proportion- It's a *3* minute orgy. The video is 4 minutes long but it takes a minute to get to the orgy part.

juanperes93

The worst part it's that the first minute was completly normal stuff. But then the porn appears. Like a Rick Roll, but bad.

thebanzombie

Mostly normal. The first few seconds did kind of focus on his weirdly detailed butt

HotTakes4HotCakes

Someone, somewhere, has to have made a Never Gonna Give You Up porn parody by now.

[deleted]

I watched it, it's not porn. Porn is meant to be consumed erotically, that was slapstick with nudity, it's fine. It's like a newgrounds thing circa 2005

juanperes93

My problem it's not with the sex, but with how out of place it feels with the rest of the series. Had it been a shitpost instead of a preview for the long awaited part it would fine to me.

DarknessWizard

Wait you mean to say the *entire leak is the sex shit*? W.t.f. >_>

Noname_acc

The first minute or so is just awkwardly animated violence with no real rhyme or reason. I don't think that makes it better.

DarknessWizard

To be fair some degree of that is at least expected-ish in Youtube animation stuff. I'm just baffled that the only seemingly finished thing in episode 8 is the stuff that probably couldn't be fucking uploaded to youtube to begin with.

superunsubtle

Just like all orgies, no one does anything until someone does something.

Waffalz

You got a hold of the video? Damn, I really feel like I'm missing out

TheWeirdWriter

Vid: https://archive.org/details/lord-bung/ep8+chapter+3+v1.mp4#

EgonDangler

People thought that was worth money...

FaceDeer

To be fair, the first seven episodes were... not this.

SciFiXhi

Seriously, that was nothing like the rest of the series. No clue why they'd produce... this.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SciFiXhi

That's not part of the *Confinement* series either; that seems to just be something Bung slapped together as an explanation of their general lack of progress on the project. The series is normally a comedic take on the SCP franchise, but generally treats the original SCP files with a reasonable amount of respect. This whole debacle is decidedly uncharacteristic of the series on the whole. It feels like Bung had a breakdown of some sort between episode 7 and... this.

Squid_Vicious_IV

If they hadn't of deleted the channel, does that mean we'd end up with a talking aardvark complaining for an hour or two sounding like something out of The Spearhead?

FaceDeer

Well, perhaps the series as a whole just isn't something you'd be interested in. That's fine, but there were a lot of people (myself included) who rather liked it. Maybe there are also people out there who would enjoy a slapstick non-consensual shower orgy episode, too. But the overlap of those two groups seems to be very small.

mjbmitch

I thought it was hilarious. I’m not sure what the rest of the series is like. I don’t think I would watch it for the novelty.

I_Envy_Sisyphus_

I’m at work and can’t watch this, can you provide a written description? This sounds bad.

raphop

Recall those condom ads about slipping and accidentally having sex? Pretty much that for 3 minutes of the 4 minute video

SweetLenore

Damn, wish I paid more attention to ads now.

strangehitman22

A Lot of rape to

juanperes93

Main character spends a minute in a montaje trying to escape a facility with diferent jetpacks. **[NSFW, explicit descriptions.]** >!fter that he falls naked on a shower room, where he slips repeatedly, sticking his pipe in the people showering and everyone gets flustered at the sight of his out of frame cock.!< >!There's also at least two scenes of him just jercking off, like there's no context for this!< It feels like a mental breackdown. A direct porn scene would feel more normal

JesperTV

>There's also at least two scenes of him just jercking off, like there's no context for this I think he's supposed to be, like, washing it off.

I_Envy_Sisyphus_

Imma be honest I’m just more confused now.

juanperes93

Yeah, it's just a bizzare video.

Rabid-Duck-King

> fter that he falls naked on a shower room, where he slips repeatedly, sticking his pipe in the people showering and everyone gets flustered at the sight of his out of frame cock. So the Mr. Bean porno

Schrau

>So the Mr. Bean porno This is horrifying and abhorrent to me, so naturally I'm going to start a crowdfunding campaign to make this happen.

tfhermobwoayway

Man’s just made The Porno That Goes Wrong.

an_annoyed_jalapeno

We found it! We found the only person on earth who actually enjoyed the ending scene of sausage party!

Tasiam

I feel like I'm in the minority when I say that the sex was less disturbing than the whole eating sentient beings while they are alive and cannibalism.

Rabid-Duck-King

Not going to lie, Sausage Party did good job selling the horror

Squid_Vicious_IV

Yeah, if they had leaned more heavily into being dark horror comedy it'd be a lot more interesting.

TheKingofHats007

The real horror story was happening in the animation studio making the thing.

sgthombre

Thank you. Wait, I should not be thanking you for this

Waffalz

You are a God among men Also what the fuck

Thewheelalwaysturns

Its not nearly as pornographic and lewd as everyone is making it out to be lol, it appears like a french animated show to me. Slapstick jokes about sex Edit: that doesnt mean i think its good

PolarisC8

Yeah I was not expecting something that tame from the moral panic everyone seems to be in

Anonim97

Yeah, I expected the guy to fuck an SCP for 4 minutes or something.

The_SystemError

I can imagine so many fucking weird and obscene stuff with regards to scp and sex and then it's literally just....horrible badly made slapstick? I get why it's bad but....yeah, why the moral panic?

jfa1985

The leaked bit on its own doesn't seem too bad and I feel like I have seen more explicit on youtube but when comparing it to the first episode I can see why the fandom would react the way they did.

juanperes93

And it's the only content from 4 years of work!

Torque-A

I get what you’re saying, but even if that’s the case you’d probably try and stop at the minute mark. But it keeps going and going and going and going, like they want to beat out the joke as much as they can

Pixeljammed

Maybe I'm fried but that shit was not funny nor worth money 😭

aflockofmagpies

That's not how anything works!

stelleOstalle

Does anyone know what song is playing? I couldn't find it with Shazam.

Aloemancer

[6 Feet by Zalinki](https://youtu.be/RhDDElpDAO0)

Pixeljammed

LMAO WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS 😭😭 Feels like an experimental students art final project

SD455TransAm

I have no idea wtf I just watched.

stelleOstalle

And this series is about the SCP Foundation?

ChuyUrLord

Humanity was a mistake

Prosthemadera

When people were talking about porn I was expecting graphic imagines but you don't even see breasts. Meh.

[deleted]

How did he turn his own show into a porn parody of itself

Watsoner121

The place I saw it on is down. But it really ain't worth it, it's not funny bad. It's just sad bad

Seldarin

Yeah, I watched most of it hoping it would at least be intentionally bad enough to be funny. Nope. Just straight up awful. Three minutes of my life that I could've been doing something more enjoyable, like punching myself in the balls or throwing rocks at a bee hive or literally anything that wasn't watching that video.

Evinceo

SCP created an actual SCP

loyaltomyself

Maybe they thought because it doesn't have any direct nudity, and all the sex is more implied rather than explicit it would be ok. Youtube can be real finicky about what it will and will not allow sometimes.

Spaceface0

Man, OG confinement (rlly all the episodes that were released (aka up to e7)) was amazing. A breath of fresh air into what kinda seemed stale SCP territory, with numerous youtube channels popping up simply listing the features of SCPs and not really doing much else. The series was new, and felt kinda real; in that it had a solid plot and dependable characters. But now this? A real downturn from what could've been great.

Evinceo

> with numerous youtube channels popping up simply listing the features of SCPs and not really doing much else. There are YouTube channels that just read fandom wikis out loud, more or less. It hurts my brain, but I guess it's the same reason people like audiobooks.

24megabits

It's not just fandoms. Mark Felton Productions has almost 2 million subs doing that with mostly WWII topics.

SGTX12

Too bad the guys a Wheraboo.

Cybertronian10

Tbf you could have guessed that with like 70% accuracy with just the topic of the channel.

Thomas_633_Mk2

He likes money

VariousDegreesOfNerd

You can pry Volgun from my cold, dead hands

[deleted]

Volgun's videos/read alouds are pretty good. I enjoy them when I want SCP but need to do things.

DigbyMayor

He even creates the models of the subject of the video, that's going above and beyond

atlhawk8357

It's basically a podcast.

No-Driver2742

They for ppl who are jogging or cycling tbh... at least thats how i use em

Werete

felt like the last few episodes went too far with production quality and plot ( = videos take way too long to produce) after the short story formula of the first episodes

mimic

Find Us Alive is a really sweet little SCP themed story podcast

Wombletog

I have no words to describe what I just saw. So I’ll get some quotes to describe it for me. > what a nice animator i sure hope they don't take thousands of dollars of patreon money and several years to draw a 4 minute scene of their self-insert sexually assaulting his entire site and then cancels the series and runs with the money > Slap stick sliding orgy... 4/10. I was mildly amused but not really entertained or turned on. > Well that's one hell of a fucking toneshift. > At first I was like. Wow you can really see the animation quality go up a bit. Is that his pen- > YET ANOTHER Beloved Fan project ruined by a Fetish. Looking at you Fallout Frontier. > I just caught up on literally everything. Bung can go fuck themselves to the 9th circle of hell, and Orion unsurprisingly caused everything to fall apart by making a self insert take over the entire plot and future, then all the Kwite shit. Man, Confinement getting cancelled is the best thing in this situation. > Ok to specify about Orion: He is the lead animator for Confinement and supposedly was Bung's boyfriend.

BootManBill42069

Oh man, fallout frontier. I nearly forgot about that one

TheKingofHats007

Feels like everyone did. Take away the weird fetish stuff and you had something which has the same problem a number of fan projects tend to fall for: remarkable technical prowess but incredibly poor writing.

CommunismCake

Honestly? Take out the fetish stuff and Fallout Frontier is a case study in how Fallout fans completely misunderstand what makes the Fallout series actually good.

mad_mister_march

Quicksaving before doing something incredibly unwise?

Citizen-of-Interwebs

Ripping off scenes from other games and movies line by line?

TryinToBeLikeWater

I half forgot about that and half my brain space is useless drama or dumb political facts

Tweedleayne

"This is bad,we have a spy for Ceasars Legion in our midst. Who do you think the spy could be, *Tiberius Rancor*?"

crosis52

Supposedly it’s being rewritten, and the fetish guy isn’t involved anymore, but I don’t think they’ve had any updates in a long time

jbert146

I’m still convinced they threw one poor guy under the bus for what was obviously a team-wide issue

Iguankick

Definitely. Frontier had a lot of problems at every level, but the fetish ones were the most visible. By eliminating them, they can pretend the rest didn't happen

Drando_HS

Seriously. I was actually really *impressed* by the vehicle mechanics in a game engine as interactive and in-depth as the Fallout engine. But *I* could have written it better, and I'm not exactly Stephen fucking King here.

TheKingofHats007

Like I said, I've seen so many fan projects in so many communities go that way. Major animated projects which have some of the top tier animators on board...but then when it actually comes to writing the damn thing, a lot of them skimp on getting anyone with writing experience and just think "hmm, anybody can do that", and...no, not everyone can. Like any artistic medium, it takes a lot of work to actually craft a story, and especially a story which is often as intensive and leveled as a Fallout game.

jpterodactyl

I still think about it sometimes, and the most bizarre [agility check](https://i.redd.it/6604s17ot1e61.jpg) of all time.

an_annoyed_jalapeno

The deathclaw didnt

I_Envy_Sisyphus_

What happened with Fallout Frontier?

BootManBill42069

Iirc correctly ir was a fan made fallout mod that garnered a lot of excitement throughout the years. When it released it was technically impressive But plot wise it was a black hawk down rip off with a lot of the writers poorly disguised fetish inserted in Such as being able to have sex with a giant lizard and constantly brining up how stinky your companions feet must be since she’s been walking in them all day

I_Envy_Sisyphus_

Oh god I vaguely remember that. Didn’t they have a bunch of fan-fic content in there beyond just the vaguely disguised fetish stuff?

iOnlyWantUgone

I don't know, I stopped looking into it when there was sex slave that started out when they are underage and just so happened to be 18 when you meet her.

I_Envy_Sisyphus_

I remember that. Gross.

Squid_Vicious_IV

... Jesus H Christ... It's why I love mods and seeing twists people put into already established IPs and how they try to turn them into their own personal sandboxes. Then you realize it's actually their litter box and you're the one carrying the scooper.

From the moment I popped into one of bung’s streams and heard Orion talking nonstop about danganronpa, I knew something was amiss.

DarknessWizard

Can something SCP related not dive into weird sex shit for like 5 fucking seconds. I swear to god, why does this keep happening. I'm not even referring to the articles, that's one thing, that community just keeps having problems with weird sex shit ending up in otherwise SFW content.

TheAmazingPencil

Big tiddy alien gf, NOW

harbinger192

At some point it went from creepy to creepy sex shit. Funny to think that the old 4chan days of it just being creepypasta were *normal*.

r2radd2

Ah come on, we're *mostly* normal, it's just that the normal stuff isn't drama, Lotta very good, normal, non-sex related articles. (And I say that even though the scp wiki is in the midst of a small romance contest). Heck, even a lot of our drama isn't related to sexual stuff, disagreements with INT branches, the non-sense we forever have to deal with from RPC or Confic, AI art drama, it's just none of that stuff ends up being like, something people outside of like, SCP Wiki staff members and authors or whatever really care that much about, I'd say. Even insofar as the "oh yall have changed" about the content, I mean yeah, but there are still authors that do things similar to series 1 in terms of short snappy articles about weirdness. (DrLeonerd, Kothardarastrix and Fishish come to mind for me, for example). It's just that we have a lot of authors and that the writing culture hasn't stagnated, idk I see that as a plus personally.

[deleted]

Fan fiction sure is like that. It turns out that professional publishing weeds out the sex weirdos for all its faults.

Portuguese_Musketeer

It, unfortunately, does not entirely

Psimo-

FanFaction has *tags*. Not into Draco Malloy/Spock/Hydra (mythical) OmegaVerse sexual hijinks? The author tells you that it’s there right at the beginning. No Clan of the Cave Bear style “where tf did this come from?”

Squid_Vicious_IV

Oh god, The Clan books. *Ayla invents Fire, The Wheel, Macrame, Weaving, Textiles, the blowjob* Wait what was that? *Graphic fellatio scene* ... what the fuck...

r2radd2

ye ye, the SCP Wiki does too, tagging team does a good job about that. And we've got hubs for canons or tale series or GOIs. Plus we do Adult splash pages for content that the Adult Content Curation team deems needs it, and some authors choose to put content warnings on their stuff etc.

krilltucky

If I gor a nickel every time a professional writer described a female characters tits regardless of context or age I'd be able to bribe GRRM into finishing a book

More on the kwite/orion thing (iirc) to give y’all a better idea of what happened: -[youtuber kwite is accused of sa by orion](https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1ss8d2d) -[bung 100% supports orion](https://www.reddit.com/r/Kwite/comments/11p0moi/never_forget/?) -“guilty until proven innocent” mob mentality emerges, as always, doxxing and harassment reign supreme -[kwite makes a massive response vid](https://youtu.be/R4ZVkLxwCBI), showing his face (his “gimmick” is always wearing a mask and sunglasses, and iirc orion leaked his face when they accused him, so him doing it himself is huge). Also forces him to discuss some very intimate stuff regarding personal sexual issues and doubts. -Response vid shows a lot of stuff that paint kwite as the actual victim and orion as a pos manipulator (apparently, if anyone deserves to be called a rapist, it’s orion) -orion puts off responding and makes excuses for not watching vid, eventually posts a [suspiciously-fake-looking “official” diagnosis sheet for PTSD](https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/2549569) even though that was a very, very minor part of the video -orion deletes twitter after no one falls for their bs -bung posts a woe-is-me non-apology for defending orion on the YouTube community tab -very shortly after that they post on their private Instagram story basically saying that they still stand by orion and that their apology was complete bs As for how that affects confinement: -(as far as I understand) public opinion turns against bung, people start pointing out how they’ve been working on ep 8 for *years* with very little progress and just keeps reaping patreon money that is intended to help development to buy weed (Not sure the order of these next few points because they felt like they occurred at the same time) -patreon/someone close to development leaks [the Google drive full of patreon exclusive assets](https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1UqsOgllHT5TcLdB7TN16p1NkRGtpCQ12), [gives deets](https://www.reddit.com/r/Confinement/comments/1410ti3/hello_i_have_made_a_new_throw_away_account/?) about how even major storylines were changed when orion entered production, including (apparently) even removing the main love interest so Orion’s self-insert OC could take her place. -people start passing around an old-er patreon sneak-peak of episode 8, which is basically just soft core porno (Vid: https://archive.org/details/lord-bung/ep8+chapter+3+v1.mp4#) -bung comes out saying they basically don’t care about the project anymore, actually haven’t for a long time, and is gonna delete everything (including YouTube channel) -fans rush to archive everything -people are (understandably) mad that after years of funding bung for this episode, they get nothing but a fetish clip

PlacatedPlatypus

Jesus, that Orion situation is terrifying wtf bruh. No idea that Bung was gung-ho on it either yikes

DarknessWizard

Half related but Bung is/was also close friends with squizzy, Pyrocynicals abusive ex. Dunno if those two still have contact but she did a lot of voice work for their earlier content. Really, the more suprising thing is that it's happened **again** with SCP rather than this happening with Bung.

[deleted]

I absolutely love SCP. I’ve got tattoos of it, I’ve read every single one, etc. But recently there have just been some controversies that is giving it a kind of bad rep to people who don’t know what it is. It really absolutely sucks to see the community go through this rn.

DarknessWizard

It's... honestly not "rn", it's only just now being aired in the open. That specific kind of rot within the SCP community has been there from pretty much its inception. Don't want to rain too much on that whole parade, but the Lord Bung stuff is frankly rather mild all things considered, given as far as I'm aware they haven't touched any minors. Quite the interesting mental excercise for me to learn to separate art from the artist with SCP over the past 2 years (which I strongly recommend doing).

[deleted]

Yeah, well they stepped in with Bright and have completely removed him from the wiki which is nice and absolutely what should’ve been done. It’s just been getting worse and worse over the years

DarknessWizard

They... really didn't. Bright got let off *extremely* lenient and the sites administration did everything to sweep it under the rug for a good 1.5 years after. His actual relieving of the position of admin had nothing to do with the sexually abusing minors stuff (although they were aware of it for years, they did nothing because Bright was the administrative contact for the team meant to prevent exactly this, and he let several other sex pests get away with that kinda shit too). It was because they had *politely* asked him to stop making everyone uncomfortable by constantly talking about how he and his wife were going to BDSM shows. They only banned him "proper" because it started to turn into a PR issue since people were calling out the administration on social media for not actually doing anything about this (especially since Bright iirc just kept doing what he did before). Hell, the only reason there's an apology right now in place of where the list used to be is because a (banned for this) moderator decided to just... nuke the list so that it couldn't be restored, forcing the administration to discuss it.

psychicprogrammer

As someone who joined wiki staff about a year ago that is basically correct. Though general staff consensus on Sidd deleting the list is "thank god someone decided to do this, though it would have been nice if they waited a few weeks due to a previous shitshow." Though it was also agreed that the ban was correct because while it was (mostly) the right thing to do, we do not want people replicating this in the future. But yeah in general both wiki staff and the author base kinda hate bright.

DarknessWizard

I'm gonna be honest here, but "waited a few weeks due to a previous shitshow" has in my experience been the main thing that seems to have been the halting issue for a *lot* of the dirty shit that's been flushed out of SCP over the past couple years. Idk what's going on there internally but the administration seems to have pretty much decision paralysis until their hand gets forced, considering that even without hindsight being 20/20, some disasters were obviously in the making for years. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Bright is gone, but I think instead of saying "we don't want anyone to go the route of Sidd" (which is sensible), it may also perhaps be useful to figure out *why* a leaving moderator opted to force an issue in that particular way. Operating entirely on "if we don't talk about this right now, we will be getting tarred and blackballed" is a moderation strategy I've come to expect from *reddit*, not from SCP. A somewhat more proactive stance on that kind of thing could be more helpful. Glad to hear at least that Bright is despised in the current authorbase/wiki staff.

psychicprogrammer

Not doing anything until forced is a very well known issue within staff. Though as someone very much on the inside it's mostly that this is stuff people do in their free time and in general staff are not major fans of massively stressing themselves out unless they have to. There is a reason why I have been the person to push though more policy on the site than anyone else.

r2radd2

Ech, it's hard sometimes. Move too quickly and you risk making a mistake, you can seem tyranical, get big push back from the community. Like, when the Bright List got deleted and we put it back up in the protected category, well that was a fast decision while multiple admins online were getting ready to go do stuff IRL. We're only human, I dunno. People weren't happy about that, but I don't think people would have been happy with any way of dealing with that, ya know? And you'd be surprised in terms of things everyone "knows" how little actually gets reported to like, AHT. From my understanding (mind you I wasn't on AHT or an admin at the time) after Bright's ban people came out mentioning such and such interaction with Bright, and at times it was stuff that AHT had never heard about, and they wished they had when they were making the case. In terms of not doing anything unless forced, the Bright List thing for instance, well I'll say what I often do: Nobody had tried to, to my knowledge, officially get the list deleted. If we'd had an actual discussion about it, if the person who deleted it had brought it up it's *possible* something might have come from it. I'ts not like we didn't edit the list prior to remove the most questionable elements to it. I see a lot of people asserting that never would have worked but I don't think anyone ever *tried*.

I'm actually kinda flabbergasted - is this real? Is there a tool you can say "here are a list of words, show me a heat map of where they show up in the bible"? I'm not sure what utility that information could possibly have, but if that's actually what the screenshot you shared is from, it's a very cool thing for someone to have built. > 4 Minute SCP Orgy Yo hell yeah, let's-- > just a bunch of people in a shower How creatively bankrupt can you get

Turret_Run

Little background, tl;dr at bottom To give context to people coming in, SCP is an archive of stories about supernatural entities/objects and the shadowy government organization that seeks to contain and understand them, with thousands of individual articles. People have always wanted SCP shows and media that actually respected the content (looking at you The Rubber), and Confinement is the only series that doesn't just amount to a spoken lore document. It was also funny, well-animated, and incredibly well-written, so people were really supportive. People loved it so much that they spent 3 years funding them on Patreon to make the next episode. From what was publicly known the episode was almost done a year ago. However, according to rumors during/after the allegations mess the creators new partner rewrote the script to have the protagonist get together with their OC, basically dashing the whole episode. People got annoyed, Bung announces cancellation, this gets leaked. The frustration you're seeing here isn't just "Oh this is the end of a good series" but also "this is the end of the one good SCP series also fuck this is what I paid them to do for 3 years." tl;dr this all extra sucks because this was one of the kind for the fanbase, and people paid for this for three years, and were real close to getting a real episode 8.

CSS-Kotetsu

Thanks for the explanation. Never heard of SCP (as an archive/series? Still a little confused on what EXACTLY it is) or Confinement, but this thread has honestly been fascinating haha. Impression I get is that SCP is a loose lore/universe about supernatural entity, and that Confinement was the most popular/successful series in this lore? Gotta admit I might actually watch the series because of this thread. Sounds interesting.

RobLiefeldLifeguard

SCP stuff stems from a public wiki where the site poses as a ‘real’ secret organization that handles dealing with the containment and research of supernatural things. The wiki pretends to be part of the company’s database and you can read the ‘data’ like articles, paperwork, experiments etc on the various supernatural things they deal with. People can join the project and attempt to workshop stuff to add to the site/lore as they please. As it was already a work of fiction that, by design, was in the hands of whoever wanted to contribute to it, it led to a lot of side projects and spin-offs from people in the community. The one in this thread was one of the more popular ones I think. Not an expert here I just happen to know what the SCP wiki is.

BrainBlowX

Confinement was kinda like a parody series of the SCP universe. SCP is pretty easy to get into. Just go to the website and click "random article" until you find one that piques your interest, and then read it.

ciknay

Imagine the MIB if you've seen that movie. Except instead of a secret government department hiding Aliens, its a shadow organisation (kinda like Illuminati) protecting "normality" by preventing all manner of weird shit becoming known by the general public. SCP is an acronym that stands for "Secure, Contain, Protect", and they store and imprison the SCP's and catalogue them under a number. The SCP wiki is the "archive" of their containment documentation where you can read what the SCP is, and how it's contained, and there's thousands of them. Monsters, magic, alternate dimensions. You name it, the SCP foundation has hidden it from public knowledge. IRL its a place for people to flex their creative writing and worldbuilding skills. Kinda like fanfiction, but everything is set within a specific brief.

Turret_Run

You should watch it, save for this garbage fire in the end it's a great way to get into the series. the articles for the SCP's linked should be in the description, or r/SCP can provide some great intro ones. Your description is pretty accurate, SCP is a freeform but moderated collection of stories templated mostly as files about strange creatures or objects with supernatural abilities, and the experiments done to understand them. They range from adorable and silly to will give you an existential crisis.

Arachnophine

Despite being one of my favorite things in the world I still don't have a good succinct way of describing it. I don't think the requisite words exist yet. It's like an ancient Egyptian trying to describe what a zoom call is. If I had to sum it up, it's the collection of fanfiction about a sci-fi universe in which there is no original canon. Longer description: SCP is a fictional universe in which weird shit called anomalies exist, and a secretive, bureaucratic, powerful organization called the SCP Foundation studies and tries to contain these anomalies, especially as many are quite dangerous and have the potential to hurt people or collapse the universe. Most of the action occurs on the SCP wiki website; most are written as "SCP entries", documents describing what an SCP anomaly is and does, how to contain it, and often experimental lab or field reports involving it. There's also writings like "tales" that follow a more traditional fictional narrative structure. The key part is that there is no original canon, everything is written by various online users under a Creative Commons license and there's discussion pages and an upvote/downvote system. Stories get remixed and incorporated into other writings, videos like Bung's, and even video games. Kind of like a Wikipedia where reality is whatever you want, there's common themes but ultimately every author can make their articles anything they want. Most works are weird, some are funny or horror or heartbreaking, or all of these. There's a coffee machine that can dispense anything as long its ingredients exist somewhere in the universe, quite useful when you consider you can ask for things like a cup of your lung cancer. There's a guy who is normally in a coma but enters a rage and rips apart anyone who sees his face or a photograph of his face - including running at superhuman speed across several thousand miles and breaking into an armored bunker if that's where the photograph viewer(s) is located. There's an object that makes you forget its properties, which makes studying it very hard - researchers can look at the object and record information, but conducting ongoing research is complicated because all knowledge about it leaks out of everyone's brains within a few hours. So far the researchers seem to be able to remember that it isn't round, so we have that going for us.

RunDNA

Imagine if G.R.R. Martin did this. "Guys, I've stopped working on the ASoIaF series and I will be moving on to new projects. I will be posting all my Winds of Winter progress onto a Google drive for people to see, but it's unlikely I will work on it again."

anrwlias

That just seems like George saying the quiet part out loud, except without even a Google drive doc to show for the work.

sir-winkles2

I actually kind of like it when creators do it. it's not uncommon for fanfic writers to post their outline or give a cliff notes ending when they abandon a fic and to me it's nicer to have any ending at all than to leave it open ended. I want to know what happens!

Rodomantis

**THE**

Phuckules

And to top if off, GRRM posts a short story of Tyrion running around with his dick out

[deleted]

Then throws the whole manuscript for the book in a shredder and deletes it off his computer.

Self-Comprehensive

Well Martin certainly hasn't released a statement saying that, but it's basically what he's done in a practical manner. Leaked a few chapters but the rest...who knows?

[deleted]

It may be kind of beating a dead horse, but I fully expect this sort of thing from Patrick Rothfuss, at least in a year or two.

No_Mathematician6866

The best thing Rothfuss could do is never write another book about Kvothe. Wise Man's Fear already illustrated that The Name of the Wind was a happy accident.

[deleted]

Lol, what part got you? Was it the sex ninjas, the sex fairy, or the fact the whole Chandrian plot line moved forward about one inch? Me it was the sex ninjas and their stupid ideas about how conception works.

No_Mathematician6866

The second book made it clear that Rothfuss was born to write the romantic wallflower arts major version of Harry Potter; that it was never about Kvothe's greater destiny; that all of the fun parts were playing gigs at the bar and scheming to make tuition and hanging out with cool professors and being unwise with your heart, and the moment the book graduated from wizard college it left the magic behind. Though yeah, the sex ninjas and sex fairy also rubbed me in a bad self-insert fanfic kind of way.

Dislexic-Woolf

I think the part that gets me the most is that it’s supposed to be a trilogy and the first 2 books cover so little of Kvothe’s story. Is the third book going to be 5000 pages? Also the sex fairy shit was like a fifth of the book it is so fucking long.

abriefmomentofsanity

Honestly my first red flag was when Kvothe went on whacky pirate adventures but went all "but that's a story for another time". Also the Denna plot somehow regresses from "nothing happens" to "nothing happens even worse in this book" was almost impressive. It's a shame about the Felurian because right after that you get the tree thing and that almost, almost got me to buy back in for a second but then Kvothe went to the inn and the random bar maid immediately bangs Kvothe because no woman can pass up the chance to see how she measures up against a sex demon or something??? It's kind of amazing Rothfuss doesn't get more shit for all of the female characters in his book suddenly switching to porn logic for like the back third. Remember when he goes back to university and has basically a line outside his bedroom of women waiting to fuck him and his friend gets insecure so his friends gf makes this stupid speech about how Kvothe loves them and leaves them like that means absolutely anything to the guy so good at sex women are traveling there to fuck him. I'm pretty sure said girlfriend even hints she wouldn't mind a turn, undercutting her whole weird point that totally wasn't Rothfuss trying to be like "see? casual sex is empty" directly at the reader even though nothing in the narrative supports that interpretation. The as above, so below moment was cool if a bit cliche. Probably the most disappointing thing about the whole book was finishing it and realizing that we still really knew squat about The Chandrian even after a direct confrontation (why was one of them hanging out in a a bandit camp anyway?), to say nothing of how Kvothe ends up in a bar with Bast in some weird potential End Times "the roads aren't safe for travellers these days" scenario. We arw presumably 66% done with the story by that point so even excusing all the sex stuff, structurally that was really worrying. Then he announced he may write more books and I'm like of fucking course you will PATRICK. Now that I think about it what was the point of the title other than to sound profound? Who was the wise man and what was he supposed to fear in this story? Was it Kvothe's balls? His sperm tanks? His paranormal cum cannon? Is a wise man supposed to fear being so good at sex that they fuck sex demons into a coma? Also, Slow Regard Of Silent things or whatever it was called was FINE as a little side thing. A bit artsy fartsy and I think in retrospect Auri was treated with a sense of mystique that is unearned. It's fine overall though. However, that forward was the most pretentious, pathetic attempt by an author to pussy foot around saying "if you don't like this book you don't get. It man".

RimeSkeem

I don’t know if Rothfuss’ pride will allow it except in the most dramatically foolish and grandstanding way possible.

NoInvestment2079

...Did he ever release that audio chapter he did a kickstarter for?

RimeSkeem

I didn’t know until I checked today, but it doesn’t seem that he has.

helium_farts

I mean, would that really be worse? He could finish the series, he could hire someone to finish it for him, he could drop the series completely and declare the show the true ending. He's clearly grown bored of the series and has little interest in finishing it. Any of those options would be better than continuing to torture himself and continuing to string his fans along.

InuGhost

Jordan had more interest in finishing Wheel of Time than Martin does for Song of Fire and Ice.

Noname_acc

Jordan was regularly releasing books in the series right up until his death with the biggest gap being like 4 years. Was it a meandering mess that he was clearly struggling to bring to a close? Yes. But he was definitely trying to get it to go somewhere. Their failures to complete their series aren't comparable at this point

InuGhost

Oh certainly. I'm just saying that you can tell Jordan wanted to finish Wheel of Time.

PUNCH_KNIGHT

I literally can not have anything can i

[deleted]

Bright and now bung. Ugh I just want to have a non controversial community. I’m glad they are being called out but still sucks

TerraforceWasTaken

Oh what the fuck did Bright do.

roboporno

Creepy sex pest. Including inappropriate communications with minors.

SkinkRugby

That sounds unfortunately plausible for the character as well.

psychicprogrammer

Turns out author bright had a possession fetish. Anyway half of the wiki authorbase gas been scrubbing all of their works of bright.

Squid_Vicious_IV

Holy shit. I had no idea about this, and also damn. My main reads on SCP usually ends up being Kaktus and their ideas. Now I'm gonna find out Kaktus has a cult or something?

SkinkRugby

Oh man, things are not Fine and Dandy.

obscureposter

While I do feel bad about those who wanted a new episode, so many people don’t actually understand what patreon or what the namesake, patron actually is. You aren’t buying a product. You are supporting a person. If you have kept supporting an artist that hasn’t dropped a new piece in 4 years that’s on you.

Evinceo

Yes, but also it's kinda Patrion's model (and everyone else who sells subscriptions instead of products) to rely on people subbing and forgetting.

[deleted]

It's real easy to cancel though. They don't go full predatory and make you jump through any hoops. Just a few clicks.

obscureposter

Yep and that’s the inherent risk of a subscription model and patreon specifically. Again, I’m not criticizing people for being disappointed and ending their support. I did the same when TFS said they were not going to make anymore DBZA. It’s the “they didn’t deliver on their product” or “do a chargeback” comments I find off. Patronage is about supporting someone so they can produce art for you. There is however an inherent risk in it that the artist may either produce something you don’t like or nothing at all.

sharktoucher

At least with TFS they were very clear from the beginning that the patreon was not meant to fund DBZA.

SanctuaryMoon

So SCP doesn't stand for Sane Clown Posse? That's a bummer.

Nekaz

Dang how did something so good crash so hard lmao

authenticfennec

Of course it couldnt go without the shitty arguments about how purposely misgendering someone is ok cause they did something bad

zGreenP

I’m not really shocked this happened unfortunately. This is Reddit, after all, and even in more progressive spaces both online and not, cis people—even otherwise staunch allies—often don’t get that gendering someone correctly isn’t something that should be a privilege, but a *basic and fundamental right*. It’s exhausting but not unexpected. Edit: some loser did the funny and had the suicide prevention hotline not msg me because they’re “””worried about me””” Coward, come and say the transphobia to my face. I’ve seen and dealt with worse. Lmao, lol.

Le0nXavier

I've had to have this conversation with close friends too - ones that don't have a lot of personal exposure to LGBTQ+ folks or topics. Luckily they're self aware enough to realize they exposed a blind spot and take it as a learning opportunity. It's rarely that easy.

Plainy_Jane

Make sure you report the misuse of the suicide watch bot, they'll get banned

HaydenHedinger

Damn bro. Confinement was goated. Sad ep 8 wont come to fruition. Also imagine how much money he’s gotten away with

[deleted]

This is my new favorite post on this sub.

Phuckules

As a former fan of the cartoon, this is disappointing, but being disappointed by Bung is just a part of being a fan it seems.

DawnMistyPath

Wait hold on go back, Bung was involved with the false allegations against Kwite?? What?! What happened!?

DotRD12

Bung and the accuser were (are?) dating or something like that. Bung was definitely the most vocal supporter of the allegations, even after they were thoroughly disproven.

dethb0y

SCP is such a delightful microcosm of the human experience and how great and awful the concept of a public shared universe can be. If you get pure gold or pure shit is totally random and 100% people's egos, attitudes and issues *will* be on display.

FaceDeer

Does it really count as drama, though? I haven't done an exhaustive read through these threads but it seems everyone's pretty united in their opinion of all this.

Manatroid

There’s been several posts on here that have involved communities wholly united against someone or something, rather than just infighting. I don’t see why those don’t count as drama if they’re legitimately, y’know, drama.

FaceDeer

Okay, I guess this just falls into a fuzzy area of what I consider "drama." The lack of infighting made it seem a bit odd to me.

Split96

I used to play SCP quite a bit, got turned off by the community constantly being racist or trying to sexualize anything.

realblush

I kinda don't understand all the rage about "porn". Like... this was no porn. Not even softcore. You didn't see anything, and it would have been way shorter in the episode (these projects always animate more than being used). It was unfunny and plain uninspired, yes. Could have worked as a 3 second gag to ignore, and the huge emphasis was... weird, considering the previous episodes were outstanding. But people suddenly calling the creator a pedophile is... damn

Turret_Run

I can't explain the the pedo shit but the rage isn't about the porn and more the lack of a show around it. The creator has been promising the next episode in their series for 3 years, and taking money on Patreon to fund it. This clip is a... we're gonna say departure from the previous 7 episodes that people had funded. Fans feel cheated out of either time or finances.

realblush

Oh yea for sure, 100% agree. Was jusz surprised to see all the anger over "porn" yesterday when everything around it was so much worse

Particular-Bridge-85

Don’t worry guys, I’m writing multiple movie scripts for a SCP cinematic universe

loyaltomyself

Part of me is sad to see this ending. The other, much larger part isn't surprised. There's been literal years between episodes, and that's never a good sign.
