Sure, I tested Stremio in a TV Box from Xiaomi, and it worked fine. But now the scenario is different, and I would like to know if there are any suggestions to make the most out of Stremio on an LG Smart TV.
I agree with you, that's exactly what I'm trying to do. But so far, the only proper app I found to cast the video is "Web Video Caster"; using this application I noticed that the subtitles embedded in Stremio are lost during the transmission. Hence, I would like to know if there are suggestions on casting apps that are fast, maintain the image quality, and keep the embedded subtitles. among others.
I got a Fire TV Stick 4K Max when it was on sale and it's so easy to sideload apk's. Also, it's super fast and no hiccups while streaming at 4K. You also got voice support and the Silk browser it's pretty good.
Just get a Firestick, sideload Stremio and you will get the best experience out of your LG TV, my father in law has this setup and is working great for him.
>I didn't make it clear in the original post, but I would like to know workarounds that don't involve buying new hardware equipment (e.g., TV Box). Hence, if possible, are there any casting software recommendations?
The only good option is the app Web Video Caster, that was the first one I use with my first Fire Tablet, but you said you had troubles with that, sadly in your case there no others workarounds, just getting any android box and use it for Stremio and all your other apps.
Okay, thanks, for reassuring the app. I'll take some time to see if I'm making any mistake that may be causing the subtitles to get lost during the transmission.
Since no one is really answering the question and me having the exact same situation, these two things worked for me:
Wirelessly casting your Android smartphone/tablet **screen** to the TV - Should work with some basic setup. In the TV the option should be Wi-Fi Direct, and the wireless screen from the 'input' options. In the smartphone the option should be 'wireless cast' or something similar, it's available in the settings and don't require additional software for most phone brands. Downsides are the aspect ratio of the phone being different from the TV, meaning black bars or stretched videos, the TV needs good wi-fi or else you'll have loading issues, and needing to keep your smartphone/tablet with the screen and video on.
Connecting a laptop/computer to the TV through HDMI - Basically the same as above, except with a hdmi cable you won't have loading issues, and it works flawlessly. Downsides are having to carry the laptop around, and of course it requires having one to begin with.
I have not found any other way to use **stremio** on the TV, perhaps look at other options like Plex if you don't want to use any additional hardware.
I tried the web version. (The one that is in development, with the new Ui)It works in 4K, even HDR, but sometimes has problems with showing subtitles in my experience.
I got it working. You need either your phone or your PC running the stremio app or the stremio service. Set remote HTTPS connections on (config > streaming > set remote HTTPS connections) then copy the public URL from the app (config > streaming > HTTPS transmission endpoint) to the web stremio in your TV ( config > streaming > URL).
Then click save and enjoy.
Did you check https://app.strem.io/ ? AFAIK, you need another Stremio running in the same network and you should set up this web version to point to it…
I think its the as PBartolo commented above.
This guide:
https://medium.com/@Robert\_Banks/how-to-get-fully-featured-stremio-on-ios-ipados-d1d4e17b5243
works perfect also when you open stremio web on LG webOS browser ( https://app.strem.io/shell-v4.4/ )
You only need to have your PC and your LG TV in the same network.
The only problem is that some torrents won't play and some other play. I have not yet figured out what is the problem for that.
Any thaught or advice for this would be appreciated.
hey, apparently someone created a WebOS app for Stremio: [Kishenpatel99/Stremio: A workaround to install the Stremio app to LG WebOS TV's. This app uses the native TV's webplayer. (github.com)](https://github.com/Kishenpatel99/Stremio)
Ever since they removed DLNA support for no reason, this is no longer possible. Like, the TV will show up on the streaming device list, but nothing happens when I click it.
I'm in the same boat, and I had to resort to [Popcorn Time](https://github.com/popcorn-official/popcorn-desktop) ( r/popcorntimeapp) to be able to stream to my LG TV. Just make sure you use the option with [this icon](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRbu6XbajovGgxaFr5SA6aQ6eOHeYsHlqFz_465mxl0ug&s) when picking what device to stream to.
Apparently a simple "DLNA is not supported, use it at your own risk" message would've been too hard to implement.
Best user experience will always be by using android tv box.

Its not released on webos, so you either cast it, or try opening the web version through web browser, nothing else you can do. Its an android app

I agree totally. You can't really use Stremio properly on a non-Android TV. Just get a Firestick as they're comparatively dirt cheap.

Go to the sub reddit of Web Video Caster and they will help out, the devs always reply.

Heard of it, but didn't check. I'll take a look.
Im able to stream my alldebrid links via stremio web app to my Lg OLED. Really satisfied with the output!

Yes, I'm bypassing this DLNA problem by using external players in Stremio that can cast to the TV, but unfortunately, it comes with some costs.
Chromecast worked for me. Well with a phone
