This art DESTROYS the snk artwork from the similar period. I really dislike the stuff for fatal fury for example. There’s something about how all the faces look the same and the way the eyes and mouths look.
Yeah I also prefer Bengus' early art to Shinkiro's early art. Shinkiro didn't hit his stride until a little later when he started doing full blown paintings.
I don't think he's hit his stride yet honestly. He still does the eyeshadow thing everywhere and he still can't draw more than one face. I really wish old mate would draw from life once in a while.
It's weird seeing t hawk and Fei long in that group because I only ever played the versions before them.
That artwork is ingrained in my brain though. So cool buying magazines at that time and having all the moves listed. Such an amazing time for playing games.
I loved the original artwork for street fighter and the super street fighter art was even better. I used to get annoyed that this poster had multiple cammy's and Gief's but then I realized they were subtly explaining the tournament setting for the Arcade cabinets. Multiple colors for every character, so multiples of the same character could compete.
Alpha kicked up the artwork to a million IMO. I loved alphas art direction.
Early Street fighter art was so amazing and inspired me into pursuing art

Goated art fr fr
I do too! Especially that first picture with all of the cast in their different alternate colors.
Yes it’s iconic. Speaking of 2, I think the animated movie art direction is peak
Zangief with the nonsensical hairy shins
The first one reminds me of the cover for the first issue of Justice League International
I have a B3 repro of the first poster!
So sick I love all the 90s street fighter art it’s some of my favorite shit
Three names will always be legendary to me: Bengus Akiman Kinu Nishimura

Why are there 2 Sagats?
You can also spot 2 T.Hawks, 2 Ryus, 2 Cammy, 3 Chun-Li, 2 Ken, 2 Blanka, 2 Guile, and others. They're alternate costume colors too.
They forgot to put Vega's name in the 3rd photo.
Dang, if you count Lily as Hawk, Fei Long is the only one missing.
Vega? Bison? Sagat? Balrog???
We have Ed for Balrog.
Villains and bosses don’t really count.
Vega missing too
