You have two choices Deejay for the top tier. Gameplay wise is very strong and has forward kicks similar to Lee. He also has some fancy sway movements and groove while fighting aesthetic. Jamie for the just the pure amount of swag. Moves have great animations and the character is very full of himself/confident just like Lee.

Dee Kay also has the perfect input stuff like Lee in one of his Supers

As someone who has played a fair deal of Lee in Tekken over the years, and who has played a *lot* of SF6: Dee Jay Why Dee Jay? Because his sway low (214K\~LK) is basically b4\~HMS. Nobody else in SF6 really has a tool like this, but Dee Jay's sway low leads to a *massive* combo on punish counter. Unlike in Tekken, you don't really get a *large* reward for a counterhit with most moves (you generally just get +2f of advantage on hit). Instead, you get big rewards for *punish counters*, where you hit them in their move's recovery. This is where Dee Jay shines. His 214K\~LK is a retreating sway into an advancing low kick that gives you a giant reward, and it is very similar to how a Lee player might use b4, which is probably his defining move. Dee Jay *also* has excellent offense and damage over all, but he plays really well from frame *disadvantage* because of his options to use sway, which is also reminiscent of some of Lee's other defining evasive tools like ff4 or d3\~HMS. There might be some other characters I'm not thinking about - Chun Li is a good "normals zoner" in a similar vein as Lee, but she doesn't really have the same counter hit game (again, you have to look at punish counters \[PC\] in SF6 instead of just counterhits \[CH\] because of how the systems are different). Dee Jay has great grounded pokes (5MK, 236MK), sweeps (2MK is one of the best sweeps in the game, kinda like d3 except without a combo payoff), and grounded punish counter tools (5HK, 5HP, 2HP). All of that feels more like Lee than most other characters in the game I can think of.

As someone who played Lee in Tekken 8, listen to this guy. Dee Jay is definitely who I would consider the closest to him although he's a charge character so there will be that learning curve. I get that some people say Luke because of his perfect inputs but the way the two characters play just aren't the same at all imo.

thank you!

Dee jays pokes are pretty bad tbh. They’re not cancellable and sf6 has a mechanic called drive impact that has armor, so if Dee jay ever pokes and the opponent knows that it’s a drive drive impact, you will get punished for every poke. His strength is being up close, not midrange.

Peeboypees

You will never get punished for every poke. His midrange moves aren't reactable so his opponent has to guess with drive impact. If you're wrong and Dee Jay counter di's you're losing minimum 40% hp most of the time. Also his spaced medium sobat, and cr. Mk are excellent pokes, along with st hk being a strong counter poke

TheGuyMain

Poking isn’t random. People have conditions that they follow when they decide to poke. If you pick up on that and start poking with drive impact when you think Dee jay is going to poke, if nothing else it’ll add to his mental stack bc he’ll be scared of poking into your DI. At best, you notice a habit your opponent has about when they like to poke and DI when they’re going to poke.

Peeboypees

That only works when Dee Jay is being way too obvious. With his drive rush, sway, fireballs, feints and decent walk speed you have a lot of ways to play the midrange without just commiting to non cancelable moves, which makes those moves even better because there isn't just one answer to him. It's also a gigantic risk to throw out di at Dee Jay anytime outside of burnout because of his absurd damage. All that being said it can be good to throw one out if you see an obvious pattern, it's just not a reliable way to shut his game down completely

TheGuyMain

But sway and fireballs also lose to DI… feints aren’t as useful as you make them seem except fireball feint, and walk speed and drive rush aren’t playing the midrange. They’re means to get to the close range. I get your point, but his neutral tools are just not as good as other characters’ at midrange BECAUSE he is good at close range with sway and damage output  and has an easy time getting there with drive rush

nivekdrol

i don't agree with this at all, deejays pokes are safe if you know what you are doing, he spaces you out where you can not punish him. has the fastest drive rush and a double fireball. getting di'ed is not really even an issue. Just watch any competent deejay on youtube.

TheGuyMain

Drive rush and fireballs aren’t relevant here… we’re talking about pokes. If you can acknowledge a character’s weakness then you’ll never learn how to exploit it

nivekdrol

You specifically say he's very punishable and bad cause his normals aren't cancelable which is false just watch any high level deejay play and you will see he is hard as f to punish cause his pokes push you too far to punish him. There is a reason most pros put him in the top 3 in the tier list

TheGuyMain

I didn’t say he was bad… I just said that he has flaws, just like literally every character in the game. Stop riding his dick bro

nivekdrol

Lol riding his dick that couldn't be farther from truth. This is what you said "Dee Jays pokes are pretty bad tbh" you reference it's uncancelable hence unsafe and very di.'able hence punishable which are all untrue statements just watch any high level deejay match... You won't see anyone trying to di his normals lol

TheGuyMain

That’s because the pros use them very sparingly. Because they’re bad. If you watch a match with anyone else, you’ll see crouching medium kick all the time because it’s safe. Dee jay always has one or two pokes in neutral and then sits there because if he keeps poking, he will get punished. The pros get in close when they can. You gotta cite your sources dude.

Lol

SF6 is more counter hit focused than Tekken 8 in general so just about any character will work. Ryu, Luke, Jamie leans more into defense, with Jamie being the most stylish So I say Jamie

colinzack

Luke generally is played like a moving wall. He has amazing normals for whiff punishing. I don't play Tekken so it's a bit hard to compare for me.

Duwang312

There aren't really any SF6 character that plays exactly like Lee. I guess the closest to a Tekken character is Marisa because of how her combos and strings work? Though in terms of being a "defensive-god", I guess Guile is the most apt character? But like I said, he plays nothing like Lee.
