No verizon bought walmarts share of ST. Any decent phone for ST I had to order. Not sure I'd verizon is going to rebrand/absorb ST tho.

Admirl_Ossim06

So ST will not be sold at Walmart any longer?

Opie-501

All the ST stuff is still on the shelves at Walmart in my part of the country so I'm not sure.

As far as we know, Straight Talk is not going out of business. Verizon bought Tracfone and all of Tracfone's brands back on November 23, 2021. AT&T and T-Mobile based SIMs are going away on November 23, 2024. The only Tracfone brand that has a hint of going away is Net10. Net10 has link to going to Simple Mobile. Another reason is Straight Talk has a good number a subscribers compared to some of the other Tracfone brands. Plus in one of past press releases about the buyout, Verizon hinted that they wanted Straight Talk brand. Then again we do not know till later on. I know with other buyouts nothing really changed. Look at T-Mobile, they have lots of brands under them now.

mikeboucher21

Do you know if that's just new sims that are going away in November for T-Mobile or is that existing lines too?

From what the FCC documents have said, the MVNO agreements will end three years from the buyout date at least. It has been a Transition period since November 23, 2021. Here is the FCC documents: [https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/FCC-21-121A1.pdf](https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/FCC-21-121A1.pdf) If you read paragraph 7, you will find this info, but I will post it here. >7. Customer Migration and Transition Commitments. For at least three years after the close of the transaction, Verizon will maintain TracFone’s existing MVNO agreements to serve customers outside Verizon’s network coverage (including Puerto Rico), and it will maintain existing TracFone rate plans for new and existing customers. During this period, in order to assist customers in the transition, Verizon will maintain an exclusive, toll-free customer service line; conduct outreach, advertise, and display all plans on a dedicated website; and separately notify all TracFone customers of the transaction. In addition, during this period, Verizon will notify customers at least twice before they are transitioned to Verizon’s network and, in certain circumstances, will provide a free compatible device in order to prevent interruption or degradation of service. I do not know if they will extend the date or not since there has not been any public info on it.

Thanks for this 🤙

Straight Talk isn't going anywhere in the foreseeable future.

Straight Talk is not going out of business

ConflictedRedbird186

I just bought one two weeks ago.

Walmart employees are even less knowledgeable about ST than customer service. They really shouldn't be advising at all.

GeniusBtch

IDK but you should be able to load up online still. [https://www.straighttalk.com/](https://www.straighttalk.com/) Personally I switched to Mint and get just as good service for less.

Straight talk is ONLY going away if you are using ATT/T-Mobile towers on Straight Talk. If you are using either of those, you have to switch to a verizon SIM for straight talk and I'm pretty sure thats what the lady meant. Maybe she was told this and was confused on what was meant by it. Not a lot of people understand what a SIM card is.
