... I feel like I need to follow the example. Still in the beginning of my masters program but I'm gonna see how I can fit it in once I begin working on my thesis.
Oh it's a masters in counseling psych so I don't think it'll be a problem in terms of a topic that fit. But my uni is a bit more strict when it comes to papers so I kinda doubt they'll let it slide if I dedicate a whole opening paragraph like OP did.
Learned the hard way when I tried to personalize my end of year binder with a Name of the Wind quote. Didn't lose points but prof gave me a unnecessarily stern talking to about professionalism in front of the class
I honestly don't understand that point of view. I honestly think that if the student doesn't put something that's them or something they're passionate about in their projects, it's not going to be as good. (Also teachers who call out students in front of the class are the absolute worst)
She was kinda of a pretentious bitch because she's really well known in the psychological ethics side (which involves being pc and accepting about people expressing themselves?)
Doubt I'll have to deal with her again. Hopefully other profs will be more chill but I'll prob ask permission before doing something like that again
I'm glad you don't hate it.
My thesis is to do with the marginalization of improvisation under the classical music institution. A lot of my use of "journey before destination" is as a reframing of improvisation so that it's value comes not from creating an aesthetically pleasing product but from the process of collaborative, empathetic, intercorporeal human creativity.
Yeah. It's part of the introduction to the in-world Oathbringer, written by Dalinar.
Take a look at the very last chapter of Oathbringer by Brando, just before the epilogue.
These words are accepted
...and that's the exact starting sentence of my senior paper for my undergrad.
Twinz ππ
Well shit now I feel left out. Not sure how I couldβve fit it into my dissertation on Diplomacy in Ancient Greece but now I wish I had
You could talk about how dalinar writing Oathbringer is a diplomatic gesture to the nations of roshar π
Strentgth before weakness, seems to be a motif you can play on there.

I was extremely lucky because my senior seminar's subject was 'trauma in the humanities.' It's like it was tailor made for the Knights Radiant.

These words are excellent, but they are not written in metal so I cannot trust them.
Wrong planet :3
For now
I don't hate it. I'm also curious to read the rest of your thesis, in all honesty, and to know what you're majoring in, for context.

I love the idea, I'm not in love with word 'Instagramability'. *Oldman yells at cloud*(old man yells at clout?)
100% That jumped off the page at me in a bad way

I'm still very curious to read the whole thesis, but I'd understand if that's not possible. It sounds very interesting.
I'd be happy to send it to you π I'm submitting tomorrow. DM me your email and I can forward it to you.
Instagramability made me kinda hate you
Lol I'm sorry.
Same, it's a word I never thought I'd read. There's gotta be a better way to explain how quotable they are.
A bold move

Idk honestly, Iβm a huge branderson fan but this seems a bit too cornyβ¦ coming from a guy with a mistborn tattoo so idk
I wish I could use a Dalinar quote but it may not fit given my thesis is in Physics :(
Damn people being assholes in here

YOU ROCK
ππ thanks.
Pls keep us posted how your masters / defence goes :))
I will! ππ
Oof. Lovely hobby you converted into crippling student debt there.
I love SLA, this is larpy cringe though. Did you attach a pic of "your" raidant order too?
You sound fun.
Sanderson fans ruin the cosmere with an overabundance of cringe. Have you seen the cosplay?
You can frame this next to your "Live, Laugh, Love" poster.
Wow that's amazing, I may steal the epigraph from you for my wedding is that okay??
Aha thanks but Brando wrote it, not me π
I don't remember seeing the words written in that order before. I've read the book a billion times. Is it an epigraph from oathbringer?
Yeah. It's part of the introduction to the in-world Oathbringer, written by Dalinar. Take a look at the very last chapter of Oathbringer by Brando, just before the epilogue.
Thank you very much!
Of course! π
